THE BADLANDS

The Badlands is a place, because of its distance to the nations; would harbor villainy and thieving without the need for a specific villain applications.

This place will also have a large mine, which could be fought over.

Currently, there are two enteances into the badlands, and five different keeps.

The center keep is made of stone, and sits taller than the other keeps. The stone keep harbors the mine, the other keeps are for temporary use. Defending and awaiting allies.

Advantages:

- A place to use your diamonds and iron

- A place for PVP-Itching players to get their fix

Disadvantages:

- Possible abuse, (logging out when threatened, soul-stoning)

- Making ban reports for "no rp kills" then lying, saying they weren't in the badlands when they died.

I'd love to hear your thoughts because currently, the badlands is sitting on our map waiting for a viable way to introduce it.

Possible use 1: Criminals and thrill seekers alike flock to this "no rules arena" which is hosted by the 4 nations to see who is top dog. Each nation sends their best warriors, and condemns their criminals to go there and fight for glory.

possible use 2: A recently discovered ghost nation that houses criminals and the like. People seeking a lawless land would go there to fight.

not really in depth, but I like the idea and those are two possible introductions

Several questions:

How often will the badlands be opened?

How often will the mines be regened?

Is it possible to occupy more than 1 fort?

Will mining and battling time be the same? Or will there be a peace time for miner to get to work in peace, or non stop raiding?

What if there are forts right outside the Badlands, where they can /setsoul there?

How can the badlands possibly fit the rp?

Very much been awaiting this. I think it would be very fun. A fun place to kill and be killed but more so come up with strats to lure out others from their keep and such. As for the disadvantages i suppose they only hurt the player abusing for the overall usefulness to their cause. not to mention you just post 2 guys where the person logs and wait...he'll be back...they always come back.

- Possible abuse, (logging out when threatened, soul-stoning)---not a whole lot you can do but the faction that has logging or soul stoning members will have less members active in the badlands and be open for conquer

everytime someone dies or kills someone else they should screenshot it immediately and then string the ground to show (applicable regions: badlands) if you are the killer. maybe make it a rule? "oh so you did a no-rp kill report but the killer posts a pic first response showing two lines "you defeated _____ in combat" then "applicable regions: badlands". still not complete proof but it helps.

I just hope people are honest and leave the qq behind. this is supposed to be fun. people need to learn to enjoy dying:P

As far as combat-logging, there must be some way for admins to find out. Also, they have an automatic setup on Battlecraft to where if you combat-log in mid-combat with another player, then you get killed as soon as you log back on - so there's some limit to the abuse people would put onto it if they don't see an advantage to doing it? Hard to tell, would hope the LotC players aren't so low as to be that cheap.

There also has to be a plugin besides BB and such that shows coords or positions of players when they die. Someone reports saying they weren't there, simply pull the log and see if they were there around the same time or not. Also, can the soulstone timer simply be a bit longer, that way it's close to impossible to do it in combat?

It may help for players themselves to keep screenshots and such, just as bases for proof when things happen.

It's pretty tricky though, the staff will have their hands full as far as the disadvantage-points go.

I like the idea but maybe introduce it like the dungeons were. A second world were once you get so close it warps you in with the only way out being a soul stone. Logging out in battle in a bannable offence anyways and soul stoneing can be stopped i can quote the Wizard on it if i must.

I like the idea overall, but one drawback I see is that many of the players wanting to "get their fix" will just camp the badlands for the constant free-for-all and there will be less of an effort overall for players to pursue Villain Applications or provoke wars and conflict in the rest of Aegis. I think it would be fun, but I see this concept getting out of hand quickly and detracting from traditional war-fighting.

This could be fixed by using the Badlands as a place to wage/engage into war. This way cities would not be destroyed. Only if both sides agree of coarse.

Would their be a way to change the death message while in the badlands? this way you couldn't ban report people for no rp killing

How often will the badlands be opened? Idealy all the time, because opening for events would surely cause.. mayhem.. :/

How often will the mines be regened? Considering Regenerating chunks of this corrupt map will only result in violent world holes, we probably can't do it. But we could run around inside it once a week and scatter ore's in it.

Is it possible to occupy more than 1 fort? Aye, There will be a spot for chests, but much of the fort wont be changeable to the players.

Will mining and battling time be the same? Or will there be a peace time for miner to get to work in peace, or non stop raiding? I think there wouldn't be much scheduling unless a guild or nation were to have a skirmish there.

What if there are forts right outside the Badlands, where they can /setsoul there? That's an issue, I could make a larger region around the all of the badlands but we'd have to make sure I wasn't protecting anyone's homes in the wilds accidentally.

How can the badlands possibly fit the rp? Perhaps that there are these abandoned forts? it's quite a ways off and isn't much there. News of an extremely rich mine is underneath and it's too far off to maintain order over
