no. whole thing is that they're a democracy - a direct democracy

why would a direct democracy based on anarchist principles have nobility.

Why the heck would we want nobles? All they do is get annoying and make everyone start fighting over who has the most power/biggest house. It breeds toxicity amongst players, turns everything into a competition, and destroys wood elf rp. Every single time it’s been tried. There is a reason it’s been done away with.

If you want to be a noble go rp in Haense. Their community and all the human communities are built around it. Humans live fast and die fast, the quick turnover of the characters and their lives allow for that sort of community to be manageable. That’s how they function. That’s not the sort of rp community Nevaehlen is or will ever be. Try it and you’ll only succeed in destroying it.

This would definitely be an interesting prospect to evolve into but I feel this is a subject best brought up IRP through a moot not through a forum vote where there is no telling if the people voting are actually part of the community.

Respectfully, no.

Never worked or got past even the slightest discussion in old Nevaehlen, I sincerely doubt it'd do the same in new Nevaehlen.

The seeds are your 'noble houses' in a sense, and even then, they're better than said houses. Each has their own uniqueness to them and were (and maybe still are, haven't kept up to date with what has changed, if anything) instrumental to keeping Nevaehlen active and interesting.

I agree with this though;

Good on you to start a discussion on it regardless, but best to bring it up IRP if you can. You'll get more natural and more responsible answers that way (in the sense of being from people who are actually Nevaehli, not just those that have an OOC hatred for it or some other such matter)

Don't feel discouraged though, just wouldn't recommend going about it OOCly through the forums!

As a former active roleplayer providing an ooc point, no, I don't think a nobility and hierarchy would fit the Vale especially with how their role play usually goes: a group of leaders that turn to their community for whatever topic's brought up through a moot, voting, etc- as Wizry said: a democracy.

There are a lot of problems that I see instilling a noble heirarchy in the Vale that Dragonoftaters already pointed out: anarchists (Eat the rich), democracy (everyone's equal), long elven/non-elven lives (Scenario example: Hey Queen/Princess Dyonne, when are you going to die/step down so I can be ruler?) where LOTC's timespan is where a real life year = 50 years for an elf and that's where they are IC culturally an adult- point being that's a lot waiting where I don't think a lot of people are willing to do, potential toxicity and ooc/rp classism (there's IC racism already in the Vale).

If your character has reason to believe that the Vale should have a noble hierarchy, bring it up in role play, in a moot as Floral Hedgehog suggested. It could bring potential character growth and conflicts in role play if that's what you're looking for. Terry's pretty right on getting organic nevaehlen responses, you're better off that way in getting something more interesting out of it.

Also, you need to pipe down.

Noble RP does not fit the culture of wood elves as a whole, let alone Nevaehlen. Family structure exists in the Seeds, but it would not make sense at all for some of these Seeds to be "noble" while others are not. If you're looking for hierarchy in the wood elves you'd be better off looking to the faith or druidic circles which have some degree of hierarchy, but even then it's pretty flat. If you want to experience noble RP I'd echo others who recommended you check out human nations instead

Something about having a noble class in a city being reclaimed by nature is funny to me. But yeah, wouldn't quite fit the groove of the scene there. Try the humans like the others suggested, maysnaps.

You can certainly try, though.
