Hi guys im done writing lore for a bit, school is back up so this is the last lorepiece im posting in a while :3

 

In the event that this rewrite passes, do know that this feat can be self-taught (detailed lower), as to retain its nature. This was another passion project of mine, to make an old and dated lorepiece more interesting and up-to-date, alongside taking a unique spin on it- whilst keeping it extremely simplified.

 

 

CONDUITS OF ENLIGHTENMENT

AUREUS’ DREAMERS

 

 

ORIGIN

In Lyes’ Slumber

 

Deep within Lyes’ slumber eternal, did Aureus ruminate over what progression to unfurl. Lyes lay in a deep, dreamless slumber she is unaware of. Though many still visit The Nebula during vivid or lucid dreams and nightmares, Lyes is not present. Yet certainly, Aureus is. And he ruminates, and he understands. He has taken it upon himself to, by any means necessary, find those who may have the means to make Lyes conscious of her own dreaming. In this- he has learned of that inner spark, that Enlightenment which lingers and sways from person to person. He cannot harness what is within one’s mind- yet Aureus moves them. He shuffles the sparks about the cosmos- befitting them upon mortals and assisting the dreams to spread across, from one to another in wait. In wait that one day, those who dream will be able to permit Lyes to truly dream oncemore.

 

The soul and the mind, two vastly powerful things on their own. Able to achieve a multitude of things alone. People look at the raw power of both of these, and wonder what more they can do. The finer abilities of the mind and soul, when working in tandem, are often overlooked. Things that won't help you kill a man, but will help you tell a story, or give a lesson. It is so often that these abilities are used for battle, when we should learn how to better share the experiences with those close to us.

 

A Conduit of Enlightenment is one who has received this spark, likely duly unknowing about Aureus’ influence in the passing spark, their mind and soul tethered together in a way that no other magical force in the world can achieve- mental force unbound by this fragment of inspiration. The true power of the mind is not in its capacity for suffering, but its capacity for telling a story.

PROGRESSION

A Somber Fallacy

 

The realms of the Enlightened mind and dream alike bear little progression. What is passed on from figure to figure, what floats ambivalently throughout the realms, is no more than a spark from Aureus which permits one to harness inner potential. The sole jump of progression is that which takes a year to best accustom oneself-  [1] OOC week- that of Tethering their spark to another, permitting another to bear the same blessing of Enlightenment.

꩜ Conduits of Enlightenment is a miscellaneous [FA] which bears no progression for its abilities.

꩜ The sole progression is that which lasts [1] OOC week, which permits them to use Tethering- a method to grant the [FA] to another.

 

 

TETHERING

Acquisition of Dreams

 

The ‘spark’ blessed upon the mortals is not the source of the abilities brought by pseudo-enlightenment, rather merely that which ignites it. Through Tethering,  the practitioner may merely place a hand upon the recipient’s head and heart, and to enter the very same meditative state used to enter their Inner Dreamscape. Within this state, they take a student on a journey of their mind, which can lead to a multitude of things, and is very freeform. People may face their past, what they believe to be their future, or even just a wild sequence of events with no clear meaning.

 

Yet, one can tether themselves to this spark- harnessing it within the most warped of dreams, the most lucid forced unto their own purview, even with no one to guide them. A state of meditation fixated so deep within this art may tumble unto a lucid dream- one which leaks forth that ‘spark’ upon them, to begin a seek forth.

꩜ Tethering is a freeform ritual, where one may pass on their ‘spark’ in any way they so wish over [3] emotes. 

꩜ One does not need to specifically be taught tethering in order to use it- it is innate, like all Dreamscape abilities are.

꩜ To self-teach the feat without connection from another, one must fall into a slumber or meditation so-deep to invoke lucid dreaming may be fixated upon to acquire this, and write a roleplay post detailing this event and link it in the last field of the feat application.

 

 

 

 

DREAMSCAPE

The Mind, Innate

 

Simplicity. The mind is a somber thing, yet sharp nevertheless. The spark implanted within oneself may grow and flourish, unto the Dreamscape.

 

Inner Dreamscape- [3 Emotes] [Non-Combative] - [T1]

An Enlightened is able to enter an enhanced meditative state, entering into a "physical" representation of their own mental state in a pseudo-dreamlike nature. This usually manifests as the place they are most comfortable with in the real world, but can have twists to reality, colors being changed, etc. Depending on their mental state and their view of said place. Practitioners may bring up to two people with them (henceforth referred to as Passengers) into the Dreamscape.

 

 REDLINES:

꩜ One cannot FTB in the Dreamscape, doing so is liable to get you blacklisted irrevocably from Conduits of Enlightenment.

꩜ Both the Enlightened and the Passenger cannot move their physical forms when within the Dreamscape, and neither can cause any kind of harm at all it, be it physical or magical.

꩜ Passengers must be both OOCly and IRPly willing; one cannot bring an unwilling subject into the Dreamscape.

꩜ Enlightened and Passengers may exit at any time, yet if one wakes up from the Dreamscape the other too, is instantly woken up too.

꩜ The Enlightened and Passengers are all aware that they are currently in the mind of another, and cannot be tricked into thinking that it is the real world. 

꩜ The Enlightened must keep in physical contact with passengers, with a hand, preferably over the heart or on the head of the Passenger. 

꩜ Loud outside noise or physical touch is needed to pull individuals out of the mindscape unwillingly, yet others may leave at your discretion. One cannot metagame others moving around oneself.

꩜ Once out of the mindscape, if willing, the Enlightened and any Passengers feel a slight grogginess, as if waking from a nap. If unwilling, it is much more powerful, as if forcefully woken from a deep sleep.

 

Lucid Dream - [1 Emote] [Non-Combative] - [T1]

The Enlightened, with a heightened level of focus, is then able to move on from the Dreamscape to a complete lucid dream-like state, having complete control over the environment around them, and being able to grant a similar or limited amount of control to Passengers. Within this stature- they may teach mundane aspects of life and speak unto one another, capable of being used to teach mundane skills, such as having a safe place to spar or being used to learn to read, but cannot be used to teach magic. Any conversations within the mindplane are also muttered aloud in the 'real world', where others whom draw closer may be able to observe and listen.

꩜ Within Lucid Dream, individuals within the Dreamscape may speak to one another. Words spoken here are mumbled in the outside world (listenable within [#w] range).

꩜ Mundane skills may be taught within the Dreamscape, yet nothing magical whatsoever may be taught within.

 

Enlightened Mind - [1 Emote] [Non-Combative] - [T1]

When within a deep slumber, be it natural sleep or the exploration of one’s Inner Dreamscape , it allows the Enlightened to see prophecies should they be made- wracking and melding at their minds. This is an act which often causes severe mental pain to them as the prophecy flourishes, the colors and shapes distorted and sounds muffled compared to how the prophecy normally would unfold.

꩜ Enlightened Mind does nothing further than granting the Conduit the ability to see Prophecy posts, similarly to how Seers, Naztherak, and Nephilim can.

꩜ Prophecies witnessed by Enlightened Mind always cause severe mental scarring upon the Conduit- the words and meaning of the prophecy scarred into their minds.

 

 

 

 

PURPOSE

 

It goes without saying that the current Conduits of Enlightenment lore is quite outdated and messy; this rewrite rethinks the full lore as true feat, whilst keeping it in it’s truly simplistic and open-ended nature, whilst cleaning it up. The lore is still kept as open-ended and free as possible, whilst cleaning it up in this more cleaned up and refreshed state, alongside incorporating it into some lore-relevant material which may permit for it to be utilized for ET reasons within the future.

Always loved using conduits - glad to see it's getting a rewrite!

 

Quick question though - I assume current users of the lore will have to write up a post for it? Honestly I don't mind getting to do more writing.

I like the general idea! My only defense in the old lore's clunkiness was it was an early attempt for me lmao

 

It being an FA was something I asked for back in the day, but I was told to make it open world lore, I agree with it being an FA. I disagree however with an open feat getting prophecies.

+1 out of your recent lore rewrites this is my favorite because i love conduits. it has always been a standout lore piece because dreams are so versatile, and it allowed an interesting way to show what a character's mind looks like to another character. but more importantly...

its because the tie into aureus is really cool and im a sucker for lotc's deeplore. it gives me a reason to revisit the lyes page.
