[Shelved][✓] [Rewrite] Necromantic Pestilence

Spoiler

The current write of plagues stands as something that’s effectively non-combat, purposed for general roleplay. Our goal with this rewrite is to give more freedom to Necromancers to let them add more flavor to their plagues, giving more access to a more personalized effect. We also sought to barely nerf curing of plagues to further push roleplay in a healthy direction.

If this rewrite passes, all currently existing Necro-Plague items should be turned inert and or destroyed, as the new system we seek to implement wouldn’t work with the old.

•• ━━━━━ ••𒋝•• ━━━━━ ••

Lo, there was a pale horse. And the name of he who sat upon it was

Death

Power was given to him to scourge the earth, to kill with the sword,

with hunger, through pestilence, and by the beasts of the earth.

•• ━━━━━ ••𒋝•• ━━━━━ ••

For a necromancer, years of studious and tedious research of their abilities leaves their offense lacking.  True masters of the art of killing, a skilled necromancer savors the patient death of their victims. Sometimes plotting their revenge for years and years, their retribution is inevitable and heralded by the infinite maladies of their designs. Woe to a man who hath killed a necromancer’s mercy, but vengeance to the tribe that wrought the ire of death.

Pʟᴀɢᴜᴇꜱ

The fabled “Infinite Malady” is coveted by necromantic plague doctors and pathomancers, a disease that consists of every type of disease simultaneously. Though no such device has made itself present in the realm of man, the abstract concept has led to many a plaguecrafter’s fancy to many types of dark and deathly affliction. A necromancer begins by imbuing a modest amount of their own corrupted lifeforce into sustenance such as food or drink, or something organic such as a dirk fashioned out of bone. They then weave the properties of the plague, creating an affliction fitting of their own twisted mind.

Major Symptoms:

ஃ Leprosy: A chronic infection causing pale or reddish skin patches, numbness, and disfiguring sores on the skin.

ஃ Hyperpyrexia: An extremely high fever, often making the skin feel hot and flushed, accompanied by sweating and confusion.

ஃ Darkbite: The death of body tissue that appears as black, discolored, or hardened areas, often associated with pain or a foul smell.

ஃ Fleshtwist: A vile, sickening blue-yellow rash that induces severe itchiness, causing the skin to blister and peel off at later stages.

ஃ Tumors: Abnormal, yet benign, growths that may appear as visible lumps under the skin, often hard or swollen, and potentially painless.

ஃ Vomiting: The forceful expulsion of stomach contents through the mouth, often accompanied by nausea and stomach discomfort.

ஃ Hemoptysis: Causes random sprees of coughing up either fresh or dry blood, which may appear as bright red streaks or clotted ichor.

ஃ Joint Inflammation: Swollen, red, or warm joints that are painful or stiff, often limiting movement.

Minor Symptoms:

ஃ Sore Throat: Pain, scratchiness, or irritation in the throat, often red and swollen, making swallowing difficult.

ஃ Coughing: A sudden, forceful expulsion of air from the lungs, which can sound dry or wet and may produce mucus.

ஃ Cold Chills: Sensations of shivering with goosebumps, often accompanied by a cold feeling and shaking.

ஃ Rashes: Red, itchy, or bumpy patches on the skin that can vary in size and appearance.

ஃ Hair Loss: Thinning or patchy baldness, noticeable on the scalp or other areas of the face.

ஃ Anemia: Paleness, fatigue, and lightheadedness due to a lack of healthy red blood cells.

REDLINES:

Spoiler

Any item inflicted with a plague must be [ST] signed, the description listing all symptoms clearly, as per the maximum amount of Major & Minor symptoms a Necromancer may grant within the plague in regards with their Tier. An item may only bear a single Necromantic Plague, and objects with Necromantic Plagues cannot be enchanted by other magics.

Itemtag Example: [This item follows all redlines for Necromancy | Necromatic Pestilence. When applied the victim will be inflicted with Darkbite as well as Rashes and Nausea after [3] OOC Days]

Only consumables (food, water, cigarettes, etc.) and Boneforged Weapons can be inflicted with a Necromantic Plague. Necromantic Plagues solely afflict individuals if they either ingest said consumable, or if their flesh is torn by a Boneforged Weapon afflicted with a plague.
The base emotecount to create an object imbued with a Necromantic Plague is [3] emotes; for every symptom beyond the first added to a Necromantic Plague, it adds [1] further emote to the creation process. A necromancer may solely make [1] object imbued with a Necromantic Plague per OOC day.

Symptoms take [3] OOC days to fully mature, early signs starting the day after the Plague is administered. Without treatment, the plague will last up to [2] OOC weeks at maximum.

Plagues are not inherently fatal nor permanent; however, the inflicted party may opt to keep a plague and/or perish from a plague if they wish, and so OOCly consent.

Plagues may be cured via Alchemy’s St. Amya's Draught, or any healing magics/artefacts capable of curing plagues and curses. Furthermore, a homeopathic treatment can greatly alleviate and even cure the Plague, which may be done via mixing together a vat of crushed herbs and milk, and boiling the liquid into a salve to apply either upon the afflicted flesh or consumed by the infected; using a homeopathic treatment takes [3] OOC days to cure the illness, whilst other treatments are instant.

One who is afflicted with a Necromantic Plague may not know nor suspect of its Necromancy-derived origins unless it is vividly clear when it is afflicted (e.g. directly afflicted by a Necromancer or a seething bone-weapon).

Further symptoms, both Major and Minor, may be added to Necromancy via amendments/additions. These further diseases cannot be inherently lethal or venereal in nature.

Tɪᴇʀ Pʀᴏɢʀᴇꜱꜱɪᴏɴ

Tier 1: A Necromancer may begin learning the art of Plague Craft, but can only use [1] Minor symptom.
Tier 2: A Necromancer has grown in their proficiency in Plague Craft, but can only use [1] Major OR [2] Minor symptoms.
Tier 3: A Necromancer has mastered Plague Craft and is able to use [1] Major and [2] Minor symptoms.

:3 Hi gang pallo here oncemore with a little postface. In essence, the purpose of this lorewrite which Aehkaj created is to permit more unique non-combative usages of Necromancy, especially with how the current diaspora available is not only very limited, but also very bloated and lacks little uniqueness which the community has been wanting to push forth- this new method of 'homebrewing' these illnesses creates a really interesting playstyle of creation, especially with the multitude of opportunities this provides.

From what I understand with genus, if the victim has genus the blood would too. That being said the symptom likely wouldn’t produce enough blood to actually count towards anything blood magic related and serves only as narrative flavor.
