kuebiko 686 Share Posted May 26, 2025 There was a lot of stresses involved with Haelun'or and Caurost, especially given the situation with our NL. It wasn't ideal, and I'm glad the reflecting on it has been done. stress is awful

lemonke 6014 Share Posted May 26, 2025 It takes a lot to admit one's mistakes and give up one's Minecraft power, but not admin power, where your decisions matter since what you will do may affect everyone!! You do you, I guess, but you stepping down from Hnor is a nothingburger. You are just punishing staff members who have done nothing due to your choices
Bethinwonderland 2213 Share Posted May 26, 2025 I've been saying this for years. Staff shouldn't be nation leads! This said, I don't understand why goverment postions were taken out as well? That limits a lot of rp and can block a lot of options for people on staff. I feel this was a step in the right dierction though it might have been taken a bit to far?

Chrisdena 83 Share Posted May 26, 2025 I personally feel this would be the best overall. Back in the day, juggling my role in the Ascended and as a Game Master was a challenge, especially trying to avoid any conflict of interest due to my overlapping responsibilities.

Spoopy_Duck 3219 Popular Post Share Posted May 26, 2025 A rather genuine question, what exactly is defined as "Leadership" for staff guidelines. Ex: I once had aspirations to be head of medicine in Caurost, by the way their government is set up that position is given a seat on the council but it's head of medicine? That type of position realistically has zero impact on the politics of the nation unless we add plagues to the server and need to go into a lockdown or something. Another example is the discordification of it all. What if I have perms to a nations council chats but I hold no actual irp rank they just like me enough to let me see them and speak, does it count as leadership existing in the space? Final example is on my Adunian prince when he was younger I ran a meeting on behalf of leaders due to them being absent at the time and being the rply most qualified person around, does that single act count as involving myself in leadership even though outside of that one specific circumstance my character holds no proper authority? Or the basis of being of a royal family I am assumed whether I actually am appointed or not that I have some form of authority because of heritage? We even have to make some rulings determining if someone is worth a 2 or 3 hour capture due to the sometimes vagueness of what is and is not a "high ranking official" depending on how nations are set up. I understand the spirit of the idea but I feel it is rather confusing as to what staff members can or can not now do and possibly a bit of an overcorrection? (Adding to rant after posting) I think it completely makes sense for the administration to not allow these types of things, and I understand as a mod I sacrificed my ability to lead a nation and that makes sense, however unlike the administration a rather simple balance exists for us. If I had a somewhat mundane position of leadership but still made a decision that could be attributed as bias, I could first of all be cussed out by the other mods but Josh has the very easy ability to step in and override any decision I make. If he were to do such I understand the actual overriding authority is rather extreme to invoke and would be a much bigger deal but for us normal staff members we all have our admins to put their foot down on any supposed tomfoolery. With that note in mind also I feel outside of admins we enjoy an ability and do rather comfortably still play the server which is something almost all the admins, whether by their own choice or just the burden of position are unable to really do. I think this stifles a lot of opportunity we could have rather unfairly as I can just as easily be "biased" for a nation that I am simply a member of without needing the fancy tag in discord.
