INTRODUCTION

House Iekami was never a noble dynasty, but it was founded by a man who lived as though it might become one. The forefather, Genkai Iekami, began his life in Yong Ping before finding himself in the south and starting a life there, learning to trade his parchment instead for steel. However, it was neither steel nor quill alone that defined him, but his belief that man is nothing without ambition. It was this hunger that gave the Iekami their character. They were not born into privilege; instead, they carved their place with intellect, loyalty, and discipline. While never lords, they always strived for something greater. Over time, the fire dimmed. With no seat to anchor them, the family dispersed. For generations, the name became nothing more than a remnant of what once was, stripped of the ambition that once defined them.

For generations after they survived as fragments, traditions had faded to obscurity. Yet survival itself is no small feat. From that endurance comes their rebirth. In the present age, House Iekami reforms itself with a new purpose within LOTHARIA under the leadership of IEKAMI HOMURA. No longer content to fade with time, they return with greater ambition, following a sharpened motto to reflect their newfound spark:

BY WILL, WE CONQUER

CULTURE AND VALUES

Even outside of formal traditions, family members are expected to train both body and mind daily, whether it be through combat drills, studying strategy, refining skills in medicine, scholarship, or craftmanship. Meals are always eaten together and consist of traditional Oyashi foods. Here, stories of ancestors or lessons from the past are recounted around the table. Patience is valued over impulse, and all are encouraged to think before acting. At the heart of their culture is a shared understanding that every action carries weight, and that discipline and will are measured in daily choices as much as in great deeds.
The core values of the house consist of: Willpower, Resilience, Discipline, Resolve, and the pursuit of Knowledge and Wisdom.

FAMILY SYMBOLS

House Iekami carries two emblematic animals that capture their dual identity and philosophy. Together, they guide how the family should live and act.

THE CRANE 鶴

The older symbol of the house, the crane, represents patience, reflection, and free thought. It is an embodiment of the family’s scholarly roots, devotion towards the pursuit of knowledge, and love of the arts. Like a crane in flight, it represents freedom. The freedom to think, create, and express oneself without constraint. It is a reminder that wisdom, creativity, and progress are just as essential as raw strength, action, and ambition. That creative thought allows one to move with both clarity and purpose. It is a symbol of balance, patience, and endless possibility in all things.

THE TIGER 虎

A newer addition serves as a call to the more militaristic aspect of the family and its new, current era. Where the crane represents contemplation, the tiger embodies action. It stands for raw ambition, willpower, and the decisive strength needed to seize opportunities. The tiger’s presence on the kamon represents how the family no longer waits passively for fate to decide, instead acting with courage and unyielding determination. The tiger is also a lesson in resilience and adaptability. It survives through patience, cunning, and the ability to strike when the opportunity presents itself, a mirror for a house that has endured hardship and aims to return stronger than it was before.

The Crane and Tiger form the guiding philosophy of the house, the freedom to think, create, and plan, tempered and refined by the discipline and ambition to act decisively. Members strive to live in the balance between these ideals, believing that blending artistry and strategy with observation and action creates greater leaders. One cannot be without the other.

TRADITIONS

SHODO (CALLIGRAPHY) 書道

Starting at a young age, children of the family are taught the delicate art of shodo, and are encouraged to compose poetry. Completed works are displayed in family chambers or shared during gatherings as a way to celebrate individuality.

CHANOYU (TEA STUDY) 茶の湯

Family members practice chanoyu, the art of tea. Every movement, measured, graceful, and deliberate, reflects the crane’s focus. It serves as a way to cultivate both mindfulness and clarity, helping in developing attention to detail, precision, and discipline, ensuring that members of the family learn how thought and action go hand in hand.

OBON お盆

During Obon, the family honors their ancestors with offerings of food to their shrines or lanterns set adrift on water to instill resolve and represent, in a symbolic manner, the carrying of their ancestors’ legacies and ambitions.

MATSURI (FESTIVALS) 祭り

Each passing year is marked with seasonal celebrations. From cherry blossom viewings in the spring to autumn harvest gatherings. They often consist of paper lanterns, artistic performances, and plenty of seasonal food to celebrate and honor the changing of seasons.

BONSAI 盆栽

Every Iekami household is expected to maintain gardens or bonsai collections. The meticulous shaping of each tree teaches patience, while the act of pruning and sculpting helps instill intentionality. They serve as places of meditation and training

SEIJIN NO HI (COMING OF AGE) 成人の日

When a young member of the family reaches maturity. The family celebrates Seijin no Hi, the Coming of Age Day, marking the transition of childhood into adulthood. The day begins with reflection in the family gardens, where they are to contemplate their own personal growth and place in the world, most take this time to partake in calligraphy or other forms of art to express themselves. Afterwards, practical challenges take place to test skill and judgement, these may include martial exercises, strategic games, or even a guided journey. The day then concludes with a feast under lantern light and the sharing of wisdom and guidance from elders.

Homura looked upon the put together words and kamon with a smile. "My art suits this house well, I believe. By will, we conquer. And I shall."

"Of course, baby," The mother offered to her daughter in turn, "And it's not that far in the future either. Goodness, how you've grown up so quickly!"

[!]

A letter would find its way only to the leaders of House Iekami. It was carried by a small geisha doll made of wood, stone, grass, and other natural resources.

Greetings, honored Leaders of House Iekami. I am Seisho Ehiba, Master Geisha and practitioner of Chiyoko-sama’s sacred art, the blessing that nurtures the cycle of life. I am deeply moved by your devotion, your spirit of freedom, and above all, the powerful symbolism you carry in the tiger. Among my people, the tiger is revered as a sacred emblem of sacrifice, an ideal that only the strong-hearted, those willing to change and surrender all, can truly represent.

I am no longer of Koyo-kuni. I speak not in politics but in passion and harmony. Therefore, I wish to invite you to join me at my tea temple, once the Red Kami grants us leave to wander upon the new land. I would gladly welcome your clan in its entirety, and perhaps, in the sharing of tea and words, we may speak of business. It would be my honor to spread the way of the Geisha among you, and to share the teachings of my gods, so that our Oyashiman culture may remain alive, steadfast, and eternal.

Ja ne, friends.

“All Farfolk are protected by the Shugo. We may be few in isolation but we are many together. I suggest this family to come to the Shugo to enrich themselves with true Oyashiman culture and the people.” The Onna Musha spoke to the group of Samurai and the Shugo.
