As someone who does not care much for human noble rp and does not really interact with the empire. I feel like it's presence feels bigger outside the game than actually within it. It's mechanically basically just a mega-alliance under the rp banner of a united front which I think is cool considering the last 3 years have been spent with humanity floating itself around a bunch of different groups and cultures all trying to one-up one another.

LOTC is cyclical and this is just a part of such, we started last map with like 20 realms and it reduced to less than 10. This one starts with an empire and might end with 20 again. It is just the nature of things and I think people are just uncomfortable with the unknowns and that is alright.

Honestly since coming back to the server after a brief hiatus and actually playing a character to wander around and RP with whoever. Grain of salt being I've only really been back like two weeks but,

It feels like people talk about the Empire more than I see the Empire actually like. Doing things.

There are in total eight places to Roleplay on LotC that are Nations - only one of them is the Empire proper. If you don't like Empire roleplay, you have seven other options. If you do not like Canon roleplay, you have five different options. There are at least two 'Elven' nations. There are Dwarves. There are Orcs. Most of these nations permit Magicians to run around freely(for the most part). I cannot see how people feel as if their Roleplay is somehow ostracized to the point where they can't exist. I prefer that everyone who complains about the Empire air out all their reasons and post screenshots, rather than arbitrarily yapping on the forums.

I use to hate the Empire for destroying all the amazing nations and then I gave up and make a dark elf and now all I do is Warhammer rp and where our vassal is, is in a nation that’s a close ally and after speaking to empire players oocly it’s not bad tbf, yes it has its faults like how my Delf still gets insulted there so I don’t go there but the overall idea is pretty cool and I wish one day my Delf will be accepted there

I hate the Empire, especially Werewolf, KBR, Hughbert, Sethwolf, Milenkhov, JoanofArc, _Sug, Tide, Dwgwulf, Rain, Nectorist, Hopey, Squakhawk, Ibraheem, Sam, Sean, Smmrs, Guac, and Lasombruh.

I don't blame newer players for making these threads or assuming that the Empire will last forever because a lot of them haven't been exposed to the usual cycle on the server. Historically, Empires (or their equivalent) have risen, lasted for like 6-18 months, then fallen apart, just to rise up again after 6-12 more months. The period of 3 irl years without an Empire was basically unprecedented.

As for what this Empire brings, I think it's all fine. RP isn't bad, though I think it needs to build up more of its institutions to diversify RP. However, it also doesn't intrude on people's freedoms to RP, so I don't really see how anyone is barred from doing anything that they were doing before. The late interregnum period had gotten extremely stale and was basically just a group of nations that didn't interact outside of war and didn't do anything but host events. The day that the same thing happens with this Empire, I'll agree that it should either be toppled or reformed.

A lesson that I think newer players ought to learn is that nothing is permanent. You will have periods where your character is the winner and on top of the world, periods where your character is the loser and just can't catch a break, and a whole lot of in-between. Just enjoy the RP that your characters have in the moment, as well as your own story on the server, and you'll find yourself having fun. Even if you really hate something, it can always change in a moment's notice.

Have an issue with the Empire? Simply commit Terrorism. Problem solved

this is genuinely my only real problem with the empire existing, it may just be my poor luck but it feels difficult to engage with the empire itself versus all the vassals. I like the empire me and @growingivywrote a thread on the fact it just feels like the empire has a lot of potential but doesn't do a lot

I was active on the server through the rise, peak and fall of the longest lasting human empire in LOTC history. I roleplayed initially within the empire (as a vassal & knight) and then outside (as a dwarf, part of the last independent nation). And yes, also as a professional Courlandic screamer. And yes, after all that I returned to RP briefly in Renatus.

The peak of the Empire, and the coalition war leading to its fall, were some of the most amazing months of roleplay I ever saw on the server. I actually went inactive after the fall, as I felt nothing could live up to the intensity, the activity and the sheer hype around it all. Johannesburg was probably the most active settlement I'd ever seen on LOTC, with multiple pockets of RP at any time during the day.

It left us with memories that'll forever be etched into the server's history. Algoda Frostbeard's execution and defiant last words, the explosion of Johannesburg, last stand of the dwarves, the Savoyard rebellion,

The negatives? The OOC arguments, accusations of staff/pex abuse, etc. Also, anyone who actually partook in the Battle of Goldfields will remember how comically ill-prepared the server was to handle the activity unleashed by the Empire's fracturing. I believe it was the only time we reached the 500 player limit (?).

My two main regrets, through the whole many months it lasted were:

1. I was swept up by some of the OOC arguments and tribalism.

2. Even as I logged on almost every day, I feel I didn't RP enough during the wars.

Try and give the Empire good faith in that they are also composed of gamers who log on to have fun. While it lasts, the Imperial Capital is likely going to be one of the most active RP zones you'll ever see, you have free entry and travel through  dozens of settlements and may attend each of their events, each of their social functions, you can get to know their players and communities. You'd rather your /own/ settlement was the most active one? Now you have basically 80%+ the server freely entering your town as allies for any event, storyline or battle you'd host.

Or swing the other way and roleplay dissidents, rebels. Join the nations standing against them and partake in RP. Raid the empire, attack their settlements create an opposition resulting in RP (Sorry 2016 Haense you were so close to Urguan it was convenient to raid you every day).

Ultimately, RP is what you make it be, and there'll be plenty to had if you ICly accept the Empire as having unfolded, and something you can enthusiastically interact with.

I personally will have my character travel around the Empire and write down her experiences everywhere she goes perhaps to encourage people to travel and explore. And I've made a half-drunk promise to Mr. Wolf that I'd host him and some imperials to a sewer event in Cauróst so I either have to join the ST or figure out how to arrange that. At least I found the sewers (2 minutes ago).

This topic has been beaten to death - but I'm with mr. XO31 on this.

I've had poor experiences with the empire way back - partially a reason why i didn't play LotC for awhile. But either because i'm no longer a silly teenager, people don't get DOXXED anymore or because i just don't interact with them. I'm pretty indifferent - despite playing IN the Empire.

Lenny & werew0lf are taking things in an interesting direction i guess.
Should behead more human Nobles though - noone dares to stand up.
Do it.
Kill a few Arch-Dukes & Princes.
I want a cool civil war & tension. Every conflict besides Heartlands Crisis(bias) has been a boring steamroll.

Mixed feelings. I thought some of my opinions and views were skewed so I am dipping my toe into Empire roleplay here and there. I don't know a majority of the playerbase nowadays so who am I to judge. Currently in the midst of widening my perspective. The Coronation was so long though... I don't know why I stayed nearly to the end.
