Xarkly 17299 Share Posted April 9 Even if a meme I think the idea actually isn't terrible. Anything to reduce magic stacking is good imo. In an ideal world I'd like to see most magics and stuff like alchemy take up a lot of slots, so you can only really learn 1-2 on a character. When magics and feats are stacked just because they can it undermines the identity of each of them, diluting them as a focus on your character. Feels like half the server knows alchemy just bc they can.

Zacho 2177 Share Posted April 9 what if we got rid of magic slots, i think that's a better idea. who needs a limit on magic? why tie characters down. let them learn everything,...,,. my paladin necromancer cleric alchemist voidal mage hou-zi demidjinn will be very dynamic and you cannot tell me otherwise
faust 54 Share Posted April 9 I think this is peak actually and each further alchemy should take an additional slot. All of these other commenters don't know what they're talking about

JustMeMorgan 2066 Share Posted April 9 Why is everyone so insanely against magic & alchemy Alchemy is so neutered compared to what it once was anyway, it's literally flair and aesthetic more than anything and it's been a mixed element in the community for years. If someone's got all 5 slots filled with magic, alchemy, tawkin, smoggers etc. Look into their lesson history and if they've actually been taught this stuff, rather than just trying to put random unnecessary and ineffective nerfs: I can promise you what will happen is people will just make MAarts or some other way to give themselves free alchemy FAs to bypass it: which will if anything engross the power imbalance. Pinky 77 Share Posted April 9 Very valid frustrations dude, but like... Chemistry does not require magic... UNLESS WALTER WHITE IS ACTUALLY A WIZARD...?
PrinceJose270 1211 Share Posted April 9 Guys april fools was 8 days ago. In seriousness, this aint worth it chief. Alchemy was feat locked because of widespread. its been...what, 6 maps since? Its not gatekept like magic and generally not harmful. people will complain though REGARDLESS of what is too much. I e, 1000000 void mages then people complain. 100000 naz/undead then good players complain. 100000000000 clerics n the dark spawn complain. You wont fix anything by putting a magic slot behind it, nor does it make sense cause its not tied to soul. Burn every self teach book n start killing alchemists if you really wanna make a difference but it aint happening cause of this.
simatra 373 Share Posted April 9 Man, so many people hate this idea and I love it... It seems like slotted feats just isn't going to happen, so this would be a really funny change to make instead.
MrMojoMordor 2413 Share Posted April 9 TBH & this is just a general observation - i hold no opinions on this. I don't see alchemy very often. like no joke. I swear it was around more 2 years ago or so. Now it's only used for aurlic oils & vampire cures.
hearth_ 1023 Share Posted April 9 alc was the first feat my character ever got and after a year and a half of playing them i've used it maybe 4 times. it's not that useful at its base.

Keening 1264 Share Posted April 9 I believe certain feats should, in fact, claim some of your magic slots. Not because they strain your soul or something, but because they strain your mind. You're telling me you remember all the intricacies of the void for 5 separate magics, including a voidal feat, as well as alchemy, with further knowledge of tawkin, smoggers, and animatii, AND you can recall all of it it with perfect clarity? I want feat slots at the very least. A limitation of 3 (knowledge-based) feats is generous. Things like vampism / corcitura, despite being feats, should have exceptions of their own because they don't require advanced knowledge. They're effectively a state of being. EDIT: I'm also a massive advocate for people picking up two-slotted evocations and playing heavily into the niches of their character, rather than learning and doing everything under the sun without any sort of drawback. I like the concept of master pyromancers wandering around teaching lesser mages the magic. It's a cool aesthetic. I'd even go so far as to say, if you want to teach voidal magics that have two slots, you should HAVE to be two-slotted. But, we know that will never happen.
