N.G.M | The Skill Credit System

I just have this to say....this is an RP server not a pvp server, and as such we take our RP seriously, if someone is abusing their points they can be banned or even just have their points taken away. I say sure let them have a few extra points no biggie, they just cant have more than the normal maximum allowed, which would mean there is no way they could max even more than 2 skills.

I do think there should be an option to pay to reset the skills as well, as someone mentioned when your character dies and you have to make a new one, you have to pay now if you wanted to change race, so why not have to pay to change class as well?

I dont understand why everyone is going op this and op that, this is an RP server, and no one thought about any class really other than a weapon....what about the farmers? lumberjacks? there are plenty of people that will put most skill points into those other skills too.

EDIT just got on server, seems no one tried it before commenting, you cant use the point to put anything past lvl 50 lol, all the points before about being OP are now invalid lol

The other benefits for donating only affect others indirectly, so I don't have much of a problem with those. But someone being able to use better gear then me because they paid, that affects me directly. I have not donated, and I don't see myself doing so in the future due to financial situations, and even if I do, I don't want to see the server turn into a hierarchy of those who donate and those who don't.

The argument of ""They have more money then me" being the same as "they spent more time than me"" is also invalid, a person who play hours a day advancing his character deserves to be a master swordsman, but a person who donated a hundred dollars didn't do any work in-game for it.

Add a week of treepunching maybe Vaq? Or let everybody use wooden axes.

Or perhaps the old system of "Punch leaves for sticks and sometimes planks"

-bashes head on desk- Well, that is five misused points in lumberjacking that I will not be getting back.

-Really hopes Vaq will let us delevel and relevel again-

Edit: I thought that page was getting old anyway

Pretty much every donator perk helps one "get ahead." And if you dont think that its worth it dont donate,if you want to support your server and get some little kick backs then do donate.

But I think its totally fair that people who have spent real money towards the development of this server get a reward on their stats.

I personally know that I would have maxed many stats if they had been on this whole time. Its pretty unfair to the people who worked hard for their stats in 1.7 before they were erased.

Personally, I would donate for the sake of the server, not for the perks.

Donating to get skill points is pay to win and is stupid.

Well, I guess that makes it official? You 'win' lotc once you have all 275 skillpoints filled in? Man, I didn't know. All this time i'd been gathering presents for and making new friends and RPing or doing whatever suited my fancy at the moment...

Pay to win?

How about, you donate to the server and keep us afloat, in return we'll give you some in-game bonuses for being so awesome.

Thank you!

((*checks bank account to see if upgrade to diamond can be made soon))

I think that its totally fair for donators and long time server members to not be set back to the stone age when they've already leveled up their stats before in pre 1.8.

I like this much more than the old skill system.

Pay to win-In other words, a new member can waltz in and shove some money about and boom. All sorts of things are available to him because he has the privilege to put his money into the game.

I'm not saying that the donator perks idea is bad. But I already have issue with a number of things with it, chief among them being that a community that boasts being totally strict rp should not endorse ooc means of character devlopment or advancement (ie giving them the Lord title, or affording them a huge plot of land just for paying some money.

My hugest issue, and this is both with the skill points suggestion and even without it, is that so many of the so-called "perks" of becoming a donator totally and utterly separates somebody who doesn't donate from the donator. If I had my way the only perks to becoming a donator would be a nice colored name and some minas. Everything else is unfair because alot of it is unattainable through normal rp means, which means that it is in itself an OOC assertion of not only value but also total denial of rp in general.

From what I understand I have to pay you real money to open a shop in character? That is utterly absurd! This is an rp community. Any character should be able to pay their city a certain amount of minas a month to maintain their shop.

Protected plots of land, lockable chests and gates and the like also detract from rp. Any and all people should have the right to lock any chest or door that they've placed. However thanks to the so-called "perks" only the "special people" have access to it.

The digging limit is absurd. If there is a limit for anyone, it should be for all. If not, then none for all. This is a classic example of OOC assertion over RP.

Skill points should be earned, not bought. This is why we say pay to win because somebody could just purchase 50 points and up their swordsman to 100 on day one. It's obvious what I mean when I say "win"; I don't mean winning some sort of prize, but more that any character can get max stats without rping as long as they pay the right price for it.

Making a kingdom or nation: I really don't even need to argue with this. If you don't have the support, donating shouldn't give you the right to try and make a nation. at all.

It doesnt give you the right to make a kingdom of nation, your information is outdated.-

And to whoever said that talking against the donator perks is ignoring the rules.....that doesn't make sense. Any member has the right to state their opinion in the community because we are what drive the community. Just as members instigate new rules, they can also instigate rule changes if the whole of the community feels strongly enough. If you need proof, look no further than the beginning of this thread-we wanted the skill system back for a while and thanks to a poll held it was reinstated (although I'm sure plans were in effect already the public opinion cinched it).

-Mr. Snip was 'ere-

I do believe that all throughout history people with the money have been given all the advantages. People with lost of money = more training in what ever they want, better locks and protection against intruders, better weapons, more lands, the ability to create more stuffs and be recognised a lot more in society.

This may seem like it is contradicting my post on "The new world and you" but it is not, I am merely stating that is how things work in the real world, and it seems like this is what happens here. While it is realistic, I am against it. But this also makes me look very left wing which I am also extremely against. Possibly a more democratic socialism... but that's going a bit too far off topic.

*Edit* aahh crap. My memory is terrible, I forgot I posted RIGHT ABOVE THIS POST a couple of minutes ago. >_<

Overall I think it is a great idea. Could possibly use some tweaking, but what new game mechanic doesn't? Just want to confirm a few things:

Has everyone had theirs reset prior to the release of the point system? I'd be annoyed if the half hour spent yesterday meant I had already permanently 'allotted' those stats.

Is the 75 in addition to the racial stats? I think that would be a lot better.
