Zebana, I would like to comment on your assessment of nobles as being pointless. The nobility of LotC has been underutilized considerably in favour of a more autocratic model. Many of the noble houses of note consist of non-donators, while the donation nobles frequently keep a low profile politically.

This is not due to favouritism or elitism - it simply boils down to personality. Noble Houses arise due to the drive of an individual or small group. Players make themselves known through their interactions, motivations, and leadership abilities. Although the donation descriptions state that certain levels of donation automatically confer on the donator the position of a noble of their race's kingdom, many players do not take advantage of that distinction and pursue it to its fullest.

Instead, they either use their protected plot to build a new town off in the Wilds or simply run an inn along the King's Road, either content to stay out of the political realm or unsure as to how to rightfully take their place as a noble of the realm.

In theory, nobles should be some of the most esteemed, active members of society. However, in practice, they often fall short because of the reasons stated above. The highest leadership of each kingdom should task itself to utilizing these players to the kingdom's advantage, by making a place for them in the political structure of the kingdom, using them as advisers, officers of the court, or granting them administrative duties over a certain area of the kingdom. If nothing else, the noble court should exercise some influence in the succession of the throne when the king dies.

Thus, do not criticize the rank of noble, rather aid those with that rank in fulfilling their role in LotC by becoming the personal leaders they paid to be...

There is no "correct" way to "use" one's noble title. However, your assumption of a leadership role is a great way to become involved. Nobles should be players that immerse themselves in the world and strive to create a better experience for everyone else as well as themselves. For instance, nobles should participate in the organization and execution of RP events throughout the world. Rather than expect the staff to create all RP events, nobles should take it upon themselves to create player-driven events.

Hawk, you seem to be doing this as the Commander of the Rangers. Just keep at it.

I am not criticizing the roles of nobles. I just think that it is an empty title in regards to rp for the most part. I see lords all over the place, and even some lords that are legitimized by the crown have no real sway. I think it would add a great deal to the kingdom rp if being a legitimized lord over a town that is part of Oren held some sway over people. The way I picture Lords working out would be them being the task managers over their towns, responsible with collecting taxes and wheat from the workers so that the lower class don't just have a storage home they have an actual town to live in and a community to be a part of. I think the one thing LOTC is missing is strong town rp. As nations it works, people differentiate the different nations and races and for the most part everyone stays within their own race, but the division so to speak should run deeper than that. Being a member of Galahar should mean you have strong community relationships with the other people of Galahar. You should know who to go to for what in the town and everyone should have their own role to play in the community. Then there should be the lord to oversee it all, and then the king to oversee the lords.

In all of Oren, I only really believe that Winterfell has the sense of community that leads to great rp on a community level. Galahar has the knights, but for the most part the community of Serfs has vanished. Few people even lived in Al'Khazar because everyone who lived there had been on in ages so the rp in the capital was just everyone from every other town going there to laze about. I am not saying we don't have great rp as a community already, but I think there should be more focus on smaller isolated communities than the large national communities this time. (And by isolated I don't mean remote, I mean more of 10-15 individuals in a town who get to know each other well).

By establishing productive, and helpful members of the communities as lords over towns with a clear goal in mind and clear objectives for each member of their community I think we would gain a stronger sense of unity overall because you have grown attached to these people. The lords would get a title that means something and does something, and the lower class gets a stronger sense of community, and the nation gets a stronger sense of structure.

I think you might have thought I was criticizing the naming of nobles through donations though? If so I have you know I wasn't. I was pointing out the uselessness of lords over the towns that are made by one person who declares themselves lords and then does nothing for the towns people and gets nothing in return.

This was a rather disjointed counter, I am tired. Point is, I think there should be more weight behind what the lords of towns do. I am not criticizing people who became lords because they donated, just people who claim to be lords and do nothing with the title. If you are lord of a town do something with the title though it should be the kings role to fire Lords that don't do anything. Other than that I completely agree with everything you said.

Couple questions. Are all the plots in the cities prebuilt and we get what we are given? Or can we get an empty plot and build to our liking? ( following the architecture style of the surrounding buildings that is).

We are discussing this.

First off, I want to say we need ruins.

1. Post any ideas you have for either the human nation or towns.

In my opinion, there should be more towns that are more spread out in order to give more housing. This would also diversify economies, as a town on the water would be good for trading (with rivers and ocean biomes, it really would be now,) a town in a forest good for logging, a town near a mine good for mining, a town along roads good for trading.

2. Post what you want to see in the new world.

I want to see epic. This doesn't mean grand or glorious, but seeing something ugly but massive. For example, as many have said, add more slums. Or make houses smaller and cheaper. This would definitely make RPing more fun. I've been on the server for months and never owned a house. A slum would be nice.

3. Anything having to do with the humans.

Add something to create racial tension. I don't know what though.

I would like to see more epic buildings. Compared to Elves, Dwarves and Orcs, the Humans did not have any giant buildings so far [Druid Tree, Inner Kal'Urgan and the world cacti].

The building(s) should represent the Humans, maybe a large keep, a giant watchtower, an epic fort?

I say giant tower. We don't have enough men to man an epic fort

I think they should get some kind of ruins holding an ancient elven leader? Like they came to those mountains and didnt know. And they wont give them back?

Thats a good way to create some tension with the elves that are native there.

What a sad day for humanity, huh? ^^

Bad leadership usually leads to a loss in activity.
