Kingdom Modifications. What Do You Wish To See?

Fellow kindred, I present ye' wit two ideas fer civic reforms.

Progress o' our hearty city be comin' alon' well. T'ings be lookin' betta now, but still some t'ings need to be address. As a dwarf of our city I plead fer a few reforms and duties dat our high councilmen, nobility and officers can perform.

I. Dey Guard

Our guard be quite unorganized at da moment. T'ats be fair enough, considerin' te' fact we gots a new guard captain, Torian. I t'ink dat a good way to reform da guard would be da following.

- Get an official numba' o' 'ow many guard we be havin'

- Host a guard opening ceremony, wit' Torian leadin'.

Dis'll bring da guards togedda.

- Break da guard down into three te four man squads.

I t'ink dat 'aving guard squads would be beneficial to our dwarven city, aye. Firstly, organizing de guard into regiments er squads allows fer de guard to get much more work done. Each squad be lead by a high officer who works wit de' grunts. Ye can allocate different regiments ter different tasks. Fer example, if we 'ad four regiments, two o' em be focused on da normal guard duty. One could be manning da' gates, and dey udder could be patrolling de kingdom grounds. Den, dey udder two not on guard duty, can be gaddering resources for de guard so det de guard can be self-sufficent and not rely on de hand-outs o' da king and da councilmen. Finally, dey last regiment could be focused on training. Dese regiments could take shifts ever week, so dat all da squads be trained, supplied, and performed der duty

- Pay de damn lads!

If we go wit de squad plan, den we can pay 'em good if dey gadder supplies well, do dere guard duties, and train guud. Dey'd be providing fer demselves, so da money dat normally would be given to 'em fer supplies could go towards payments. Pay dem based on merit, wit' deductions and bonuses fer guud and bad work.

Just 'un an idea fer de' guards. I also t'ink det dey Legion n' de Guards combine ter form a strong Dwarven militar', but dats fer annuder day.

II. Economy

At de moment, da dwarven prices be quite inflated. If we wish to fund er city projects and dey like, we need to stay competitive wit da udder nations. I 'ave to go outside and spend money in orkish er even humen lands just ter get a fair deal, cuz in de dwarven lands all dey merchants be looking out fer demselves radder den der nation.

If we can get udder races to spend money in our cities and markets, den we can grow economically as we control dey minas as dey come in, but dey 'ould 'arely come out. I t'ink dis would be bloody lovely. Algrim, I trust ye' can do yer job well, find da prices o' da rivaling kingdoms, and match er beat em so dat da dwarves can grow economically, while advertisin' dat da dwarves dole out the best prices in da lands. Fer Aeriel's sake we should at least beat out bloody Alras, aye!

Dese are just two ideas fer civic reforms I got. If I gots any udders, I'll tack em on later. I'd be happy to help wit' any reforms fer de' good o' da dwarven peoples, wedderever it may be.

If I am Head Guard I would do a complete reform similar to the days of Stronghold as Head Guard.

We need farms..... im still wondering why this hasn't happen yet hell mushroom farms would be great rp cause I guess having animals isn't.... BTW dont kill my stuff.

Power to teh Clans! All Dwarves witout Clans are nay Dwarves in me humble opinion.

...Wut did ye jus' say? Dat Dwarves that dun want ter be in ah clan are not true dwarves? Dat be a load ov **** right der! I think ta dwarves w'o dun 'ave a clan and survive on t'ere own are strong and are worth living in ta great 'alls ov ta dwarves!

Lad, Me likes yer ideas. from what me 'eard te' Guards be removed, legion is now der wi't yer squads. So wonderfull idea. 'bout economy.. if we 'ev a lot o' lads living in Urguan we get minas, doesn't matter much if t'ey live der but t'ey don't hev te pay taxes ur so. Maybe we shud 'ev taxes dough dat be complicated. Algrim needs su'm ideas te give kingdom minad, not only Dwarves dat live inside. Right now we mainly get minas if we sell lots 'ouses. Hmmm.. tought o' n idea.. We could have lads pay if they want license to farm and if they want license to mine.. Every time der be new mine, we get paid again. Yer might consider dis greedy but we need minas and aye.. We are greedy, Har Har!

Aye, aye.

I been wurkin' wit' Algrim to find ways to make cold 'ard minas fer Karik. We may make a tradin' company wit a percentage o' da profits going towards de' city expenses. "Opefully we can get t'ings runnin'.

And I t'ink some form o' taxation er government permits wuuld be guud wedder it be mining permits er housing taxes er farm permits be fair. De dwarves be workin' on de' kings land, dus dey should be giving 'im at least a bit o' da goods er money dey make.

Personally, I 'ave enough money at t'is point to buy a whole section at t'e city. So tax dunnae bother me. But w'at about t'e poor lads w'o can barely afford an 'ouse? Me be t'inking t'at the poor dwarves can announce t'emselves, and ye check t'ere wallets. (( Do /money <Name> and confirm they are poor. If they have under x ammount, they would be excused from taxation. You can't lie at this, because RPly, you are shaken down to check your money, then the money is reterned.))

(( Exodawn n me have made a redstone circuit but now the Button will have the gate be open long ~When you walk in. Not when you go out. If people are still having trouble they should tell me and we could make the system on the other side aswell. we just don't want to take up all the space of the city or Guards. ))

Well for there to be hard working in the mine there needs to be something in the mine! Its bare and it either needs expanding moving to a new site or get a skilled magician to rejuvenate it.

((Concerning mines we can not get it regenerated due to corruption that occurred on the old map. Each nation will be getting a new mine at the same time to keep things fair so we only get a mine when the GMs give it to us. Although we have a mining idea in the deep roads we would like to try, also I have heard that lotc is working on a mining plugin that will fix the corruption issue. Believe me if we could we would do something about the lack of ores in our mines.))

In the mean time I be paying lads ta clear out the current mine as it will be used fer 5 layers of farmin. Each clan will get a farm some small private farms will be sold, also un farm will be public, un fer th' merchants, one fer th' legion and one more I forget what its use was.

Recently we have been hearing a lot about "corruption" and a lot of favoritism within the kingdom. It was stated that Braveaxes control the grand council while of the 3 current grand councilors only 1 is a braveaxe and the 4th is not going to be a braveaxe. I know 50 years ago 3 grand councilors were braveaxes and Hiebe decided ta attack th' Kingdom with that. I 'ave heard many people trashin' th' Kingdom but none 'ov ye 'ave offered any solutions. Th' rebellion that stirred up ended with all clans leaving except th' Ironguts. Th' Kingdom gives out positions based on skill an' leadership ability so dun complain that ye 'avent gotten any power, there is probobly a reason. I would like ta hear more solutions rather than criticism.
