I believe that would be (/cast bind) ?

[Don't eat me]

True it is /cast bind.

But we cant use it. It says: You dont know a spell with that name.

So vaq you need to store that one in a book aswell :P

You CAN have a sword mage guy though I want you to think about. That's probably what half the damn server is going to aim for now <_<. To get magic I assume your RP skill will be tested in some form before you get the ability to shoot fireballs and cast lighting at will...

What if I wish to learn only certain spells (I'm a Knight and at most I'd want a few healing spells ala Paladin ) Same goes for Members of my Knight order.

Would I still have to go through intense training in a Mage guild? or would it be a bit simpler to learn just one type of magic ( no offensive spells just heals and protective spells if they exist )

I still didn't get an answer, just wondering if anyone knows? (( like I said I don't want to be a mage, simply a paladin with healing and protective spells )) Would it still take "x time" of killer crazy Rp or would it be a bit more simple to since I think there is only like 3 spells I'd have.

heal - Heal a target player.

prayer - Heals yourself.

wall - Creates a temporary wall to block your enemies. (maaaybe )

invulnerability - Become invulnerable to damage. (( lololol paladin bubble anyone? ))

I think that would be all the spells I'd need, I assume it would take effort but would I have to fully join a mage guild or would I be able to skim those on the side.

Nothing offensive I don't think, I don't know for sure but I think that the plan would be if you start using certain types of magic your other abilities become weakened. So this would only bring the most dedicated mages to do this. Like say you do a certain type of magic it would drain your swords? Something like that I hope. Also if you be vice versa if you train swords it would drain your magic.

I would hope that there is some sort of balance/compromise that must be made for warriors using magic. As a Paladin, it would make more sense to learn your magic from the priests and clerics of your order or nation. Vaq said they'll be giving out certain spells to certain nations and possibly to certain players, maybe even groups. So I would assume these skills will be available to you in a way that makes sense. The Mage's guild doesn't hold the monopoly on magic, there are a few other groups that should have access to it as well, and if there aren't any solid Priestly/Clerical groups, I'm sure there will be plenty forming up as everyone and their mom rushes to learn magic. If you're interested in being a Paladin and have some fellow players into that as well, now might be a good time to establish a group or find one and start developing lore so that it's a smoother transition if and when you do eventually get ahold of those spells.

Pretty much everything beyond the initial post is just all of us eagerly guessing though, so keep that in mind.

Interesting... now the question I have is can spells only be given by GMs to magic groups? Or to individual people with the proper RP behind it?
