Hey Asulon,

I've come out with a revolutionary new modification to minecraft code to hopefully once and for all *fix* mob spawning issues!

What I've done is made two important changes to the way spawning works, because previously the reason there were so few mobs even though we multiplied our spawn rate so much was because of situation like this:

What this is, is an image of a cave that's about 30 blocks underground and has no light what-so-ever in it; yet Notch's janky code still thought it was a good idea to spawn them down there. So I've made a few amendments to how spawning works to combat this.

  1. Mobs will no longer spawn in light levels 0 or 1 if they are bellow Y:50.
  2. Every sunrise in-game, when the date changes over, all mobs in light levels 0 and 1 will be removed from the game world, as they will retreat back to the nether.

We'll be making further modifications as time goes on and we see the in-game effects of these changes, so stay tuned to this post.

That is great! Will finally not have glitched mobs all over my fort takeing potshots at me and my soliders >,<

Vaq... You are amazing. So that huge cluster of spawned monsters didn't allow other monsters to spawn elsewhere? Odd.

Vaq didn't take the screenshot, Brett did I think. Also, XRay is part of Hawk's GM modpack, as using the mod allows us to understand XRayers a little better and more easily catch them. :P
