Ok! Everyone who is interested in a new map should google "Eldaria".

It is the most beautiful custom map I have ever seen as is where most of my builds take place. Also the amount of condensed RP on this map would shoot up... It is smaller than Asulon and unique in every corner... While I personally won't be finished with Asulon for a long time I could definitely see a map like this working for our server.

Check it out.

"Eldaria"

While I love that map, I don't really think it would be suited for the next LoTC map. It is too many small islands without any really big ones. And there doesn't really seem to be any flat areas.

Care to expand on why?

Ny reasoning is I'm just bores with this map. We are too spread out and beyond the point to fix it without making many people unhappy.

  • I know some will combat this - But I feel, when/if the new map ever strikes. We do not focus on technology, I would think, magic-punk is the word. In my idea, this would be the world's improvement in technology/capability with magic. Now.. I'm not saying airships, nor telephones. I simply mean the world should have more magic overtones. Say.. Teleports in the temple? Taking you to a racial spawn. A central, shunned mages guild. These are simply ideas I'D Like to see, though. I'm sure most of the community does not like magic-punk. >w>

[i do not know if someone has brought this up. I will just say it.]

So, this is an idea that will affect the economy, and hopefully spark some nation trade agreements.

In Minecraft Economy, supply and demand pretty much have no real meaning, as you can get, say Diamond, anywhere. It's really how fast you can get the supplies.

I was thinking, in different nations, different exotic goods would be found.

Like, in Dwarven Lands, there'd be a ton more ores, but less wood, wild grass, sand, sugarcane, etc.

In Elven Lands, there could be exotic woods, plants, etc.

In Human Lands, there could be clay, more flat land for say, farms... and whatever people can think of that'd suit humans.

In Orcish Lands, there could be like, many animals that they hunt.

With each lands having different goods, there'd be an actual reason to trade with other nations, making agreements and making sure you don't get on each others bad side.

What do you guys think?

I definitely think that resources should be scare and more distributed in a new map. This would cause more justified conflict and diplomatic relations.

There is one way that mining could be dealt with, though I am unsure if it has been advised before. Perhaps have 'mineshafts' located around the world, each of which is a teleporter to another minecraft world, which can be pregenerated to have more or less ores of certain types. This would encourage trade agreements and wars, by giving players reasons to fight over said mines. Perhaps entrance to these mines could be regulated based upon allegience and race?

I really like the layout for the map that we would be going too. I think one big thing is that we should have realistic sized mountain ranges.
