I think the admins didn't fully comprehend what the players wanted. On a side note, I pretty much don't like much of it. The new torture rules are not specified, but from what I saw, the diference is that now, we can't place detail in torture, which completly ruins it. People like Knox and the perfectionist are great vilains because they place great detail in what they do. Saying Prostitution is not permited will not stop women characters from FTB for favors as that is not prostitution, and can't actually be proven. They will be non-payed whores. Besides, I see the fantasy timescale as having prostitutes. Orgies... meh... don't see the use to forbide this, it would just be 3+ people doing *fades to black with all the people involved.* And I also see Orgies as existing in the fantasy timescale. "The baring of any piece of genitalia (incl. breasts) is not permitted." This was already forbiden. "Inappropriate touching or feeling even when clothed is not permitted." This was already forbiden. "Any strong sexual references or innuendoes are not permitted." This is completly ridiculous... those that comprehend the references are old enough for them, and those that don't, don't understand them and so should be no harm with them. "Any form of bestiality, necrophilia or paedophilia is not permitted." Peadophilia was already forbiden, and bestiality and necrophilia takes away rp from druids and liches.... You'll have to use your imagination to figure out how to describe what you're doing without being graphical. Or, if you must have gore, fade to black and continue the torture elsewhere. Also, guys, this isn't censorship. Just as it isn't censorship for me to tell you not to say certain things in my house, LotC can make rules for how people behave in their 'house'. As the saying goes, deal with it. EDIT: This isn't just about pandering to children. If we did that - the server would have been shut-down long ago due to people performing inappropriate things. We have a duty of care over the minors in our community, therefore we will enforce roleplay regulations. I guess what we are fighting over is the matter of "How far should the admins go?" Minor community problems, yes, I agree. But to me, this isa little far. I heard once from a game reviewer "If you give players guns, they will shoot old ladys. If you give them cars, they will run over old ladys. If you give them helicopters, they will rise to the highest point and skydive down to earth, landing on old ladys. There has always been an unspoken rule about keeping things to a certain level of maturity, mainly around sexual things, but these rules have only in the past few months been starting to get reinforced. I have been around for about a year and a half, and I have always noticed this. I am sure that other players that have been around for about the same length of time or even more have realized this, but we just need to put a limit on such things, or things could get out of hand. This cap on violence isn't new. No character that is being played currently, breaches this cap. Listen to Danny boy people! He says that no character currently breaches this violence cap, therefore it is no concern to us. AllenTheGreat 286 Share Posted December 30, 2012 I can say this: When I was a kid, I knew about penises, vaginas, sex, ect (mind my language). I wasn't bothered by all this. And I think I can say the same for all of the younger audience in LOTC. We aren't all 5 years old, we can handle sexual things. If your feeling uncomfortable by RP going on, just kindly ask the guy to stop, and he should be mature enough to do it. I think you should have more faith in the maturity of this community. We aren't babies. We've all heard swears, know about genitals and all that. It's not that big of a deal. It doesn't matter if a 'minor' feels they are mature enough to do so or see these actions, or if they 'feel' uncomfortable if they occur, it's that a majority of the server are minors, and letting minors potentially perform or observe actions such as that is against the law. The server would have to limit itself to 18+ if actions such as that were allowed, if it didn't, then they would be legally responsible if a minor observed actions such as that and be liable for any 'damages.' That is the ESRB for E for everyone. We are not an E server, I don't think anyone has ever said we were. Obviously your content isn't in question. It is content that has been displayed on the server since its inception, but we have maintained no sort of age limit despite the gruesome violence and sexual freedoms we have allowed (until recently on the latter). It is best for people to stop looking for reasons to argue it (it isn't going to change, sorry), and actually work to improve RP in different avenues. Seriously, it's that, or we set an age limit. End of story. No debate! So why is everybody complaining? Did you know our server became dangerously close to being shut down earlier this year if a player hadn't decided not to telephone authorities about certain staff members conduct with minors? Also, we need to stop acting as if 10 year olds are innocent and ignorant to sex and violence. The average 10 year old(we don't have anyone younger than that, do we?) will have seen a fair few scary/horror movies in their lives, and seeing the stuff is worse than reading it, even if the stuff you read is meant to be gorier. And the average 10 year old knows about sex, and that it is how they were created. You need to stop thinking that kids at that age are still like 5 year olds, because they aren't, nowadays at least.
