Lower Council

Requirements for the lower council:

• You must be willing to accept and possibly give orders.
• You must be willing to work closely with others.
• You must recognize that you will have to collaborate heavily with the other council members to complete your task.
• You must have the interest of Malinor and its citizens at heart.

• ((These positions will require a lot of your IC and OOC time.))
• ((You must be a responsible and mature person.))
• ((It is not required to be an elf to be on the lower council.))

If you still wish to have a hand in the government in some way it is still possible to be an assistant to someone, as council members are invited to assemble their own staffs.

-Treasurer

Treasurer - The guardian of wealth.

Expectations

• Accurately and efficiently track all of the assets owned by the nation of Malinor, and any changes that may occur. (This includes all resources, wealth, items and property. Anything that belongs to the nation of Malinor.)
• Tax the citizens of malinor, and collect any fines the Sentinels extract.
• Ensure that those who need to draw from our assets can do so, and keep record of this. (This is money for those who need to pay workers and keeping similar records as the foreman does.)
• Establish routes of trade to other nations.

Recommendations

 

• Keep incredibly organized and monitor the economy of our world constantly.

This job is all about organization. You will look like you know what you are doing if you are keeping tabs on things and have accurate records on all of our assets. You should be able to come to council meetings and say “ This is what we have to work within as a budget.” at the very least.

-Ambassador

You would be the voice of Malinor's high council, speaking with foreign leaders, you would also be Malinor's eyes with anything related to foreign affairs.

Expectations

• It will be essential that you are in constant contact with all leaders of Major nations, and factions.
• Keep an extremely close eye on all that occurs throughout our world. Keep your eyes and ears ever open. Monitor the relationships of all factions and Nations as best you can.
• Report back to the High Council all that you find, as soon as you are able.

Recommendations

• Learn the customs, laws and cultures of other lands so as to never offend your hosts

 

 

- Steward

 

 

Steward of Malinor - In this position you will be seeing to many things, namely housing. Along with housing you will for all intensive purposes be the ultimate public servant. In many ways you will be the housekeeper of Malinor; making sure people get housed, they are comfy, happy, and any small, trivial concerns/issues of their are dealt with, or brought to the council.

Expectations

• Provide, and manage housing for all citizens.
• Ensure the expansion and happiness of the people.
• Ensure all needs, concerns and desires of the citizens therein are addressed, presented to the High Council when necessary, and handled.

Recommendations

 

 

• Delegation, you will be incredibly busy with work if you do not utilize this.
• Provide a good, service or attraction nobody else can.

The key to this position is communication and responsiveness. If someone comes to you with a concern. Find out all you can then address it. This position is meant to be hard, but it is incredibly rewarding. Expect little free time.

 

-Event Coordinator

 

 

- The masterminds that provide the guidelines and framework for chaos, giggles and merriment.

Expectations

• Plan original and traditional events for the Nation of Malinor.
• Bring the various populations of Malinor together in events. (I.E. Exclusive event cannot become common place.)
• Ensure that these events are executed per the plan (with the allowance for necessary adaptations)

Recommendations

• Be open to the ideas and suggestions of others. If an individual wants to plan an event, let them do so, though under your supervision of course.

This task isn’t easy I will state that outright. You will have to be creative, engaging and thorough in your planning. While supplies can be acquired for the foreman and aid garnered from the citizens and the Council members, you have to put it all together. An analogous situation would be the following. “Here is a canvas with a background painted, finish the painting. “

Here planning is the key, planning and execution. But make sure you are having fun doing this. Spontaneous events are wonderful they just cannot be all the time, and have to execute well.

• Upkeep Malinorian public documents.
• Ensure that all tomes in the Grand library are of acceptable quality and organized properly.
• Ensure that a copy of the Elven Dictionary is available to all citizens.
• Respond to Inquiries on the public domain as thoroughly and expediently as possible.
• Oversee the operation of the Malinorian college and its teachers.
• Hire teachers, organize class schedules, and organize any deals or partnerships with other institutes.

Recommendations

 

• See to it that something is always going on within the college and that the shelves are well stocked.
• Be an organized and well educated individual.
• Conduct research and advancement of Malinor and her people.

Alright so if you do this job correctly, you will be the center of a lot of Malinorian RP. The college should be a center for Roleplay with you at the helm, with something always going on. There should be schedules, teachers, students, research, experiments. The walls bouncing with brilliance.

 

-Foreman

Foreman- you will be over the hall of labor and the general workforce as a whole. It will be your job that resources of all types be harvested, collected and distributed in a organized fashion.

Expectations

• Retain a surplus of reserve supplies for emergencies.
• Effectively organize and optimize work efficiency, ensuring quotas are met.
• Ensure that Materials are available when needed.

Recommendations

• To invigorate workers. Place competitions between two sides of a work force. ex. Miner Group A and Miner Group B. Check at the end of each elven week who has acquired more resources, and give a reward.
• Keep extremely extensive records, of what is collected and in what quantity. As well as what is expected.
• When people take materials have the check out, so you know exactly how much has been removed. These two will greatly simplify the job of the treasurer. (How do I do this ? Well if you pay workers pay them by the stack. So then you know exactly how much was collected.)(Also Spreadsheets are your friend for this.)

While payment is a decent incentive to entice people to work, frankly if it is boring they will eventually quit. So while it is your task to get us all the items we need to feed the people and keep the nations running, you also must entertain and tend to your workers.

Do you have any work experience, if so where and what: I lead a town called Telarith some 70 years ago((on the temp map)). Most of my work involved social relations with other countries, and did such a good job orcs actually became scared of raiding us, just because I hand-personally nullified every ally they had.

Why do you feel you are suited for Job Choice 1: I can say, very unabashed, that I am something of a political expert. Most of what I do on a daily basis is geared directly toward improving the public opinion of my people and improving the mali'aheral's relation with the other districts in the city. Even in between us and oren, I already assist Khel greatly in identifying threats from Oren and the syndicate. On one occasion I've even prevented us warring with the wrong house.

My personal experience with the other, non-mali races is very, very in depth. I was raised in a Bortu village, I learned alchemy in a valah settlement, and I've basically know their culture inside and out (even a bit of orcish "blah.") Even now, I'm studying up on the valah nobles in one of their forts, trying to familiarize myself with their culture.

Should I be accepted, all of my efforts will be focused on improving malinor's relations with other settlements as a whole. I will make myself as I used to be 70 years ago. A proper ambassador who knows how to do her job, and do it well.

Prince Kolyat seeked me out, and asked me to write this application personally. I'm already involving myself in our foreign affairs already, and he would love to see me working officially as an ambassador again. I have his full support in this matter.

I have also asked prince Khel for his support in becoming Ambassador. He actually offered it before I could even ask, making two princes who would love to see me in this position.

Express why you are suitable to be a Prince/Princess of Malinor: I have been involved in Malinor my whole life. Since moving from Holm I have been training my magic and doing scribe work here in this wonderful nation and I want to be able to continue my work on a higher level. I am very good at calming people and leading by example. I feel like I can be used as a perfect middle woman for all of the races to come to agreements and such while also doing organization and nation management work.

Explain how the high council works in detail: The High Council is led by a High Prince, currently Kolyat. Most problems are delgated to the lower councils. As a High Elf Princess I would be looking after the affairs of my race while also looking into the common interests of Malinor as a whole. I would represent the Wood Elves while also helping the other races and protecting and serving Malinor. The High Council also helps to appoint the members of the lower council. They do what they can to stop wars and act as a sort of peace keeper during small town squabbles. They high council has to work together to make the decisions and help Malinor prosper. To decide affairs the High council votes on the matters. Everybody gets one vote except for the High Prince, he gets two votes.

((Why, as a player, do you wish to join the high council?)): I enjoy leadership roles, I am mature and take my job seriously.  I find the role play very interesting and would like a stronger voice with decisions made within Malinor.  I have developed him quite a lot since getting on the lower council, and realize , that through role play this would give him a bigger chance to mature an d grow.  After all it's a game, a in-depth game which brings out the best and worst of people but a game nonetheless in the end what we take from it should be fun, and better values toward each other either that be irresponsibility  organization or a deeper understanding of other people.

In character Amarath is on the lower council as overseer.  He has also lead the mali’berr in the past, however briefly.  

What is your opinion on the unification of the Mali?: It’s great if it will work, we have to all get over our differences of each other.  I realize not every person will like this and would be a difficult journey.  On the other hand I see a big flaw in this.  As we ‘unify’ the nations.  They each start to lose their identity a bit and all are thrown into a melting pot of sorts.  ((Case in point America.))  It could work but expect a lot of people to not completely agree with this and rebel.  Others will love it and others will not care either way.  However it brings interesting new and intresting ideas to the council that were not their before.  I for one feel that mali'ker and mali'ame and mali'aheral have the chance to become llirs and learn to trust one another. I   don't believe everyone has this view but we can strive to meet those goals .

Do you hold any allegiances to other nations and or organizations/guilds? If so state them, and their nature: Amarath has an allegiance to the Oussana family, they come first in Amaranth's life and would protect them above all else.  Next would be his job, he is loyal to his employer in this case he would serve the people of malinor as prince. Lastly his own people , he represents the mali’ker and would stand up for their opinions as a representative on the council.

Do you have a criminal record, if so state your offenses: Nope, i’m clean

Express why you are suitable to be a Prince/Princess of Malinor: Well mostly the reasons I stated above but as a mature gamer and level headed. I’m also very active on LOTC and have a lot more time to spend than most on this.  I have role played in malinor quite a bit and other areas as well.  Amarath is a noble from the house Oussana, he has grown up protecting malinor in every way possible, from the wars in his bio to now with his seat in the lower council.

Amarath has both back story and role play with experience regarding leadership skills:

 

Backstory:  Amarath grew up an Oussana and defended Malinor and his people through years of military defensive training, battles and wars.  He was however always out out matched by his brother Khel and didn't take much of a leadership at first. Toward the past 50 years he begin getting familur with the political side of things as well as the military.  Bravepaw noticed his worth and assigned him a task of building a team he would run.  Thus the mali'berr were formed.  As time progressed he was appointed to the council as overseer based on his great mind for detail and seeing things outside the box so to speak.  Amarath took up this role and organized the council into meetings and spoke with most of the members of the council.  Then events went out of hand when Oren declared their Ultimatum and the council disbanded the mali'berr and other organizations.  However this free'd up more time for Amarath to focus on the council as things began to fall apart at the seams.  He began to work on other plans behind the seems to help stabilize the peoples faith in the council. 

*Lower council : Overseer : Amarath role as overseer basically makes him a prince with no title.  He oversees the going on of the council , both in game out out of game.  Helps other council members with their duties.  Reports to the high council if any problems go on during a meeting.

 

*Malinor Rangers (Mali’berr) Overseer (same title) : When I had this role, it was a secret branch of the military.  We were in charge of reconnaissance and intel gathering among all the nations.  Amarath was also placed in charge of all of the military as an overseer gathering reports on each branch and using the intel to make any decisions necessary when war happens , which nothing happened thankfully.  However to preserve peace with Oren this branch was shut down and they no longer exist.

Explain how the high council works in detail: I can explain who the old council works, as far as the new one I’m not sure if anything has been changed.  The princedom chooses its members by picking members of the people that show exceptional skill in leading, and organizing, and good with the people.   This requires a vote in order to be elected to the council by each member of the current council.. When the council makes laws, declares war or  peace, singing documents, and civil laws and rules, every prince or princess has a single vote. However, the high prince or princess has two votes. ((unless this has been changed))

I reapplied for the Sentinels under High Commander Khel, and I believe I have been recently removed for my absence with Emberhard.

Why do you feel you are suited for Job Choice 1: With my son nearing the age for him to be able to care for himself while I am not around, I have found I have alot of time, with nothing to spend it on. What is your opinion on the unification of the Mali?: All Mali should be unified under one nation. They all need to stick together, no matter how different each culture may be. They are all Malin's children and should continue to do their best to please him with unification like siblings. This would also strengthen our political side since we are working with different opinions which can be processed to their best.

Express why you are suitable to be a Prince/Princess of Malinor: Firstly, I have lived in Malinor all my life and also think I am suitable for this role because I have already been a Viscount which takes some responsibility which I, at least, think I have fulfilled. Also, I have been involved in politics through various people I've met and my good friend, Orlanden. I would also describe myself as rather diplomatic woman who seeks to find and achieve higher and better things. Also, one of my priorities is the welfare and state of all the other fellow Mali

State your history of leadership or political role and how that experience benefits your leadership/political skills: Previously, or currently, I am the Viscount of the Mali'ame district but I have recently been helping out with the Hall of Labour and people's jobs sorted out since we are in a time of difficulty.

Explain how the high council works in detail: First of all, there is the High Prince, Kolyat, and when there is a vote on a war, a law or even peace the council is put together to vote. Once this happens everyone votes, everyone counting for 1 vote apart from the High Prince who counts for two. This is probably the fairest of ways. They also chose members of the Lower Council as they are probably more learned and they know who they want to have responsibility for Malinor.

((How long have you been on the server?)): I have been on the server about half a year, and have grown from someone that doesn't know basic rules of roleplay to a decent roleplayer.

My second reason is that with my moody, but intelligent and manipulative character Xexus, I can create amazing roleplay for others especially with the ambassador position.

Why do you feel you are suited for Job Choice 1: I feel I am suited for choice 1 because I have spent a good portion of my life fighting (with words) for Dark Elven rights. I feel that I know how to talk to foreigners without being rash, and slowly coming to the point so no hostilities commence.

If applicable, why do you feel you are suitable for Job Choice 2: I believe I am suited for choice 2 because I am basically the teacher within the family. I take mathematics very seriously and can easily calculate the spending and earnings of Malinor. Also, as treasurer I would be able to easily identify any economical problems and attempt to end them before they grow far to big.

I, like many others, enjoy being a leader. Unsurprisingly a large number of people share this trait, but honestly, I care not for title. Malinor is shockingly peaceful, even with the rest of the server at each others throats almost daily. I want to keep it that way. I see this as an opportunity to make up for some of the things I have done in the past. I don't think anyone here except fresh spawns have not heard of my less than desirable exploits. I am tired of the ban report lime light and want to take a more peaceful approach to playing Lord of the Craft.

I claim not to be better at anything than anyone else. I just see things the way they are, whether that means on the surface or deeper into the matter.

As stated above, I have held many positions in the military including a former sentinel. I have diffused conflicts and started them when needed. My knowledge with politics is well on the side of experienced. I have created trade agreements, and performed other duties for what ever nation I happen to reside in at period in time.

The High Council operates on a system of voting with each member (excluding the High Prince/Princess with two) having just one vote. When a particular law or decision needs to be made the Council will vote on it and hope to reach a majority vote for one option or the other. If a stalemate is reached on the high council; the two votes of the High Prince/Princess will often tip the balance. If the stalemate is maintained with either an abstain from the High Prince or a stalemate with his two votes, no change is made.
