Hey everyone,

 

We've been considering all of your opinions from this 2.5.2 proposal poll that was created a couple weeks ago. About 60% of the voters were for the compromise, while about 85% wanted to go to a new 2.5 map one way or the other. With this in mind, we decided that we would have one more 2.5 map before 3.0 arrived!

 

Currently, the map is already created and uploaded to the main server on a separate MultiVerse world, and at the moment it is being regioned and tested, so expect its appearance soon. However, before we do so, we wanted to share some details and propositions to you all.

 

The new island, named Kalos, is not an island, but rather a clump of islands. There are four islands for the four main races that will be regioned, a central "Badlands" area that will NOT be regioned, as well as some tiny miscellaneous islands that will also be unregioned and up for grabs. 

 

Now for the catch and the reason that there is a poll added to this thread. We learned from Elysium that simply having high mob spawn rates and a hazardous landscape (ex. volcano) does not create the "dangerous" effect that we want. For this reason, I'm bringing to you a topic and solution that we've mildly discussed, but we want your opinion on; allowing "No-RP" killing in the Badlands island. :o

 

Before you begin freaking out at this radical idea, it is merely experimental, and there is also a reason that I put quotes around "No-RP". We will have a lore reason regarding the allowing of this in the central island alone, but before we develop it we want a general opinion on the idea. Keep in mind that the four racial islands will be safe and No-RP killing will still be No-RP killing, and therefore will still be bannable. We will also most likely do something to prevent item drops upon death, that way people don't treat these Badlands as an RS Wilderness type area, where the strong players go to kill the weak and steal their items. 

 

This idea is mainly to test a unique way to make the central island seem dangerous, an idea that, if it works, will achieve a certain fear factor that will make people think twice before going there, a factor that I personally have yet to see present itself on this server. 

 

So, what are your thoughts? At this point I'm aware that many of you are hesitant to accept such a proposition with open arms, which is why we are asking you all first. If the idea is generally denied, we can always resort to other methods to make the central island seem dangerous, one that will hopefully suit the needs of the players better. For now, please choose an option on the poll and respond with whatever is on your mind!

 

 

EDIT: Due to the (expected) negative response to the No-RP killing idea, here is an alternative offered in the replies. We can make the central island have an "Opposite Cloud Temple Blessing" as it is called, and allow players without VAs to perform villainous deeds (Ex. killing, torture, etc.) with RP INSTEAD of No-RP killing. I've added a second poll for opinions on this compromise.

So basically an island for bandit hideouts and military groups to flex their might?

 

I like the thought of it, as long as there's still SOME roleplay like /shouting and emotes.

Absolutely, this would create a fun change, but an optional change. And the RP that can come from it is impressively broad in range.

You really should feel bad. Even if it's an expirement, we are an RP server and I don't even want to think of the possibility of making a PVP free area in any map at all.

 

That's like taking a PVP server and plonking it right in the middle of our RP server.

At first we should try it but if it doesn't work out and everyone gets mad -a high chance they will- you should close it off

We a RP sever right? So why would any one want to have part of the map where theres no RP and just PVP?

 

EDIT: Also this is I stoped playing minecraft for a long time cause there wasn't alot of stuff to do other then PVP and I swear if this server implements this i'm leaving.

I agree completely. Allowing no-rp killing... makes zero sense.

I'm with Spammy on this... 

As good an idea it is and I can even see it working, it would throw a lot of potential trolling and messing around with it. 

We're an RP server and I think that's why a lot of people join; because it breaks away from PVP

 

I'd like to think it could work, but I'll remain sceptical.

What about the Kharajyr? Would they be forced to live in the Badlands? By the way, I don't like the "No-RP kill" part of the Badlands.

Not necessarily. There will still be hostile mobs in the area (although not excessive like in Elysium) and other factors that will hopefully dissuade people from settling in the island.

Aye, we've considered this as well, which is why we know many will be against it and it is only an experiment. Thank you for the opinion though.

Yes, if it is generally disliked we can always make changes so that "No-RP" killing in the central island is once again disallowed.

 

We will be able to simply stay in Elysium, though, right?

 

In the beginning, yes. Although, if the high majority of the players go to Kalos and Elysium is little more than a few players, we will probably close it off.

I think it will cause to much chaos with the noobs on the server. They will be thinking we are PVP now and killing everything in sight, and possibly even bending the rules and killing elsewhere as well.

Heh, I've never seen something like this in action on this server.

Try it out, that sounds really fun. I'm all for it. I would like to see this mostly because it hasn't been done before.

 

As for the new island, it's about time. :D
