[*]OOC; after consideration of the poll, "conditional PvP", where both sides need to agree to PvP in a fight, is not a requirement in the badlands, and villainous activities are allowed without a VA in the badlands, but ONLY in the badlands

Forgot something rather important! In the badlands, RP is still required! Do not go around No-RP killing, as that is still against the rules and will warrant a ban.

I don't understand this, is PvP allowed or not? Or is it the situation where RP leads up to fights and you can just start PvPing instead of RP fighting?

First post with this odd new forum. . . but I'm glad to see 2.5.2 implemented! I actually like the idea of the Badlands-- Not so much for my use, but I know that others might be relieved to have a place to piss away frustration with fewer RP rules. :3

It means that you can't No-RP kill. PvP is allowed, hence the statement, but RP must be conducted before-hand rather than just rushing at people and attacking them without any warning, emoting or RP.

For instance:

- Person A sees person B, and person A runs straight at person B and starts attacking them. This is NOT allowed.

- Person C sees person D, and person C runs over to person D, makes a few RP exclamations and statements and emotes such as "Draws sword" maybe, and then PvP commences.

This is essentially how PvP already works in LotC, but now it isn't necessary for both sides to consent to it for it to occur in the Badlands.

Regarding the badlands..

I've been at them since the new server areas opened, and I have a few things to say. I haven't died thus far, so I've seen everything :)

Firstly, they're too nice. I think the land is great, there are plenty of trees and animals, and lots of lush, green grass. I was expecting a more 'orc' like land area.

Additionally, I see little to no RP being done at all in the areas. PvP consists of armored men rushing and killing, maybe you get a shout or 'roar' if you're lucky. People are griefing into structures in the badlands without roleplay, not even bothering to put up signs. While I understand buildings are discouraged from being made.. there are 'villain' groups that will likely set up camps, forts, and such and prey on passerbys.

It seems to be treated more as a PvP server area than a LotC area with PvP allowed. This disappoints me greatly.

I also see lots of potential for the badlands, but I also see lots of cheap play. Digging straight into a mountainside to reach someone's name plate and kill them is not fair at all, nor is it fun.

Oh well, that's my view on this area. I think the most fun occurs when you have small groups of 1-4 people meet each other. If it's a group of 10 fully armored orcs, then you know everyone within chasing distance is going to die.

I think if we had done the compromise where everyone gets full VAs, that would have been the best course of action. While we may have all the VAs now while we are in the badlands, it's useless.

How can I capture and enslave someone if it's instant-PvP, or how can I torture when we just instantly PvP. Very few camps or forts will be made, and those will only be made by the daring.

I assume many 'bandit' or 'slaver' groups will continue work elsewhere, since the Badlands are anything but a roleplay area.

Where are the badlands anyway? I have a feeling I'm just going to stumble in there without knowing and get swarmed.

This is exactly what I feared would happen with them.

Edit: Yes, I know it was an expirement and all.
