Orc Rp Reforms

Allow white washes the ability to be accepted fully as an Orc slightly easier, instead of just hunting them down and killing them. That would be a start. Next, actually develop proper culture, right now Orcs act like cavemen, there is no culture truly, it's just a kill or be killed culture. You need to develop the culture more so to make it more interesting for people to get involved with, not just whoever has the biggest swinging stick is the Rex. Build off of your shaman culture a bit as there is a lot orcs do not take into account there. Tone down the "blah" to make it easier for people to understand OOC'ly, yes, it's good and all that you are taking it apon yourself to accurately portray your character's speech, but not when I cannot understand when someone is saying "left or right" which, for some reason translated into "lauthed door Rigggiddthtor" in this certain piece of rp or something like that, which made what would've only taken a few moments to respond a lot more difficult. Focus more on RP and less on gathering people with PVP skill, it is an RP server first and formost, good orcs should be defined by how good they are at rp, not how good they are at PVP, that will help combat the stigma.

Add interesting strengths and weaknesses to Orcs, right now Orcs are super strong, super fast, immune to most diseases, can use magic, are smart, are big, can resist pain, mature in three weeks etc etc etc...

There are no downsides to being an orc past you cannot talk properly. Add some weaknesses to their race F.F.S as right now Orcs have strength after strength after strength with literally one or two weaknesses.

Blood lust isn't much of a weakness, in fact, it simply promotes the ideals of being able to use all these strengths against others all the time.

There is nothing interesting about orcs right now I'm sorry to say. All you are to me is a bloody beating stick of mary sue and jonny daves that are extremely overpowered at the moment with no interesting backstory past chestpounding "huurr" we are da best. There's no culture, there is nothing interesting at all. Someone asked me to play an orc a while back and I had to decline the offer simply because I just didn't like the RP. It is ALL focused around war and fighting. Even though the shamanistic stuff is a lot more interesting to me as at least that HAS culture. Rest of the orcs though? You're born, you live, you fight you die. That is it.

You might argue "But that is what orcs are, we can't change this", I'm sorry to say this but the orcs are simply being squandered as a race at the moment into just being a tool of war and less of a player base. That and cultures change over time no matter what, it doesn't always stay the same. Look at the humans, their entire culture has changed. Look at the Elves, their culture has changed, as has the Dwarves. The Orcs however? You're still Rping the basic line set down for orcs since the begining of Aegis.

Being ignorant of something dose not give you a right to bash an entire player-base, I am pretty sure that the Orcish culture is more fleshed out than most. I am pretty sure that they where the first race to do it. Do they use the culture or understand it like the old players did maybe not.

But you do not have the right to slap away what we have written and what we have created, over these long months.

I know about the culture that was suppose to be put in to the orcs, but the problem was that didn't occur properly, none of the Orcs ever really took to it, or too few orcs did. If that wasn't the case then surely the Orcs would have a much better culture right now, instead the culture is how it began, you're born, you live, you fight, you die. There's a difference between being ignorant and knowing when something just isn't there. It is only present now in the shaman sects, that's where the culture lies, but the rest of the Orc race do not BENEFIT from it, which is extremely surprising.

If you read my writing on this thread you'll see how I mention the shaman sect culture multiple times. Why is it that the rest of the Orcs hardly follow this?

And here we go with the "rights" again, what right? The right to my God damned opinion as this thread suggested it was in the first damned place, what right indeed, My rights, that is the right mogroka, my rights as a Human being with an opinion. You might be an admin but you cannot stop Human rights.

If you haven't noticed mog, everyone has been expressing their OPINIONS

If you've noticed mog, many others also comment on the lack of Orc culture.

If you've noticed mog, in even the smallest shred, when multiple people come to the same conclusion, no matter how much you know, or say, if they can't see it and make a comment on it, something is clearly wrong, period.

If something is wrong, something needs to change, not come out with degrading remarks about rights all the damned time.

Something-is-clearly-wrong-with-orc-culture-and-needs-to-be-fixed.

And nothing will be fixed if people " slap away" suggestions made by others all the time.

I'd suggest taking a look at your goblins. It seems like everyone RP's them as basically a cute little type of orc that giggles and pulls harmless pranks all the tine. IIRC, this isn't too lore accurate. Aren't gobos supposed to be smart and crafty, as well as a bit malicious?

Staying accurate to lore in general, really. I could go in depth about that/at least what I think I see, if you want.

I agree with this. Gooms is a serious goblin most of the time and RP would definitely at least get marginally more interesting if there were more of them around. That being said, I don't want to force anybody to play a character they don't want to play. I've been thinking about it for a little while, ever since seeing The Hobbit.

Considering goblins are genetically the same as orcs, you could say that being a goblin is some kind of hereditary defect. Their smaller size forces them to train their minds instead of their bodies, like most orcs. The severity of the defect determines their size, so you'll find some that look like this:

And then you'll find others that look like this:

A long read this was...

Most of you know me as the pale orc. I ran the shop on Malinor where I sold music to little boys and girls. Some of my employees occasionally ate them... but, moving on.

I have been working on some ideas for expaning some orcish culture and such. But, everyone wants us to have more shaman things, we do not have a single active shaman. Mogroka is busy with Oren, Blawharag is busy IRL, Brevias is Brevias, Zogtar is banned, I have not seen Lex, Nel'thok, or many others in months.

I refuse to tone down the blah. That is the most defining characteristic of the orcs. I know Arteh asked for your opinion, but the best roleplay I have EVER had was in trying to converse with a certain master of words, the Maheral, Dio Astore. We talked for over an hour, sharing words from our dialects and myself enriching him IC'ly in a story of my ancestors. I told him the story of the great Cheiftan Nub'osh, who we now use the word bad for.

Many of the orcs today can attest to the genuine roleplay we have when the elders of the clan tell them stories in roleplay. We teach our warped lessons though these stories, giving ourselves self esteem boosts and preaching dishonor to all the pinkies. I agree we should stop with the banditry, but if you come on our lands, I will take something for you as tribute.

I use to roleplay as an orcish smith heavily in Asulon, but now without a minecraft mechanic bonus, there is less and less people seeking for me to repair their armor. I spent over half an hour making "Inras", Arteh's axe. That same day, someone clicked him to death and took it from him. I then went to the owner's guild and tried to tell them the story of it OOC'ly, they told me to **** off. They do not care about orcish tradition or the stories behind the creature we had to kill to get the bones to make such a master piece.

Now onto roleplay fights. Orcs have no advantage because we are out powergamed. I have almost never beaten an elf or human in a fight. One on one, the big orc who is a veteran of over 20 battles and klomps daily looses to an elf with barely a hair on his chest. Group roleplay fights are even worse... I do not need to delve into that.

Orcish culture of the past... we have not many old orcs to pass it onto us. There are 3 generations of Orcs. The ones of Aegis, The ones of Asulon, and the current ones. Very few of the ones from Aegis remain, leaving us very littel to learn from in roleplay.I know you can not make them come back, but I wish they would stop in for a visit every once in awhile. We could use their guidance.

From what I was told, one of the Orc players said that many of the Older orcs left the Orc RP due to the Orcs "Going to ****" (quoted from the one who told me), I dunno exactly what is meant by that, but perhaps the key to the Orc's success lies in finding out what exactly was the cause of this.

(Dunno what happened to the quote... bugged out or something.)

I think I'm pretty much in agreement with SpamShok, and others here. Wise, stoic, and unflinchingly honorable Orcs rising in number would be a nice refresher.

Admittedly, I haven't had a whole lot of experience roleplaying with Orcs, because I tend to avoid them. However, I've still seen a lot of their behavior. Unfortunately, a lot of the behavior I've seen was on the crazy, over-the-top, or borderline trolly side of things. For me, the typical Orc is an unintelligent animal looking for an excuse to ruin and destroy. From what I've seen, they like to urinate on tables in taverns, walk into other cities and pick fights, or rampage on a whim. This is usually accompanied by a silly amount of gore, like trying to rip people's spines out and twirl them around in the air.

I've always been under the impression that the really interesting stuff is going on in the War Nation, but I've never been inclined to visit (mostly because I tend to play humans who aren't fighters). I don't believe that all Orc roleplay is like what I've seen, but I do believe that's what more commonly hits the general public. Because of that, I tend not to bother with Orcs. So, what I might suggest is trying to bring some of the more wholesome roleplay to the public, somehow. All but two or three Orcs I've seen (in my two years or so of playing) tend to be fevered bandits with bladder problems, and I've always assumed the rest just stay inside the War Nation. Is there anyway to share the wealth, so to speak, so that we non-Orcs may see the other side of Orc roleplay on display?

I've always wanted to be interested in Orc roleplay, but many of the characters that visit the rest of the public tend to make poor spectacles of themselves.

Not everything having to do with the downfall of orc RP is the orcs' fault. Lately, everyone and their mother (and their children) thinks they can take on an orc in a 1v1 fight. This should almost never happen. I'm not saying that it's impossible. It's not. The problem is that nobody thinks twice about fighting an orc anymore. Whether they're a homeless old beggar or a twelve-year old child, they just jump right in and claim to suddenly be "too quick" to be touched by any of the orc's attacks. Only the most seasoned warriors are supposed to be able to take on an orc, and that's if the orc isn't particularly skilled. Nobody pays attention to the size and strenth advantage that orcs are supposed to have.

Everybody needs to understand what orcs are, not just the orcs.

Because everyone in the entire goddamn nation is a feeble minded shithead who can't keep their cool for over ten seconds.  I miss the badasses I once stood in rank with.  I feel completely alienated from the scraps lefts behind by the giants of our time.  I don't see any aspiring legends, or honorable kin.  It's just a bunch of crap now and I really have no drive to participate in it anymore.

And now your dwarves.

Also Oink Oink is the best warcall.

I would maybe make an orc alt if it was more clan wise with them roaming and being like the Mongols who moves camp every other month.

I gotcha Arteh. I fix War Nation. You see. No tears, only dweams mayne.

Ma Ideaz:

Epic War Paint That Means Something: Clan colors, number of stripes on face for number of kills last battle with that faction, Wargoth have different style than elder who has different style than regular member.

Training Sessions: To whip the skah out of Bog.. I mean Orcs that nub listen, at all. (Not saying Bog doesn't listen, xoxo)

TS/Skype: Get er'body able to listen to Arteh scream orders while Ctap calls me a fat homo. So we understand RP situations better.

RP Klomps, some: Do some RP Klomps, training weaker orcs through getting the **** kicked out of them.

I agree.

I swear myself and a few orcs were trying to take a dark elves pants and it took 15 minutes. It was rediculous. We got the pants doe.

Another thing I'd like to add - It may be fun, rather than focusing on world domination, for the Orcs to focus on some problems that they are having within their race. Rebellions, attacks from creatures, etc. It fleshes the personality of the race out!
