Eleatic 1033 Share Posted February 15, 2013 Stricter regulations on who is allowed to become an elf, required knowledge that elves are usually wise, not sex-mongering, baby-having [i saw someone birth a baby in an OOC day, as an elf] people. They are the wise, elder race of the world. Not the Kardassians. My two cents.
PtahWithin 1320 Share Posted February 15, 2013 I am sure the adding of a main antagonist will ease the population of fetus-killers, Heibe. Their law is the power of the many.

firespirit44 1323 Share Posted February 16, 2013 Case in point: The govt of the elves have no respect whatsoever. When you mention Godfrey, people tremble in fear and they recall the deeds and the stories how the Emperor subdued the Wildlings, unified Oren, beat back the dwarves and the orcs. Its respect and also fear that he has maintained stability. And what of the elves? Native lead raids to bolster the orc forces when they were still allied with them, Native brought forth peace and stability. He was respected. I dont see the same amount of respect these new High Princes/Princess has.
argonian 14254 Share Posted February 16, 2013 First, a note: This is an entirely ooc post, but I am posting here because more mali will see it than if we put it in Ideas and Lore. The United Front If you have visited Malinor recently as either a mali or another race, you may have noticed something. Violence wracks the streets, the murder rate is higher than Oren, people refuse to obey thier superiors, and generally, the role play sucks. A few of us have taken notice, and we are going to reform the elven race and Malinor as a whole, by coming up with lore and perhaps changing how elves act. The violence needs to stop, because Malinor cannot survive if we expend all of our energy fighting among ourselves. Malinor needs change, and our United Front, so to speak, is going to try to change things for the better. We are open to all opinions, and we want to hear from all those who play elves seriously. If you want to help, add me on Skype (vonebs) and we will see what you can contribute. This is not a venture by a single mali, but by many, and we will make sure Malinor sees to see another sunrise. ~Ebs So you're bringing in lore to stop people ICly breaking the law and people ICly having no respect for their superiors? That doesn't really sound right to me.
Supremacy 3361 Share Posted February 16, 2013 The definition of insanity is doing something the same way over and over and expecting andifferent result Nonsense, that is false. Google it.
argonian 14254 Share Posted February 16, 2013 Nonsense, that is false. Google it. He's saying Einstein's definition. I never got why people use that, he was good at physics and stuff but he wasn't a lexicographer. EDIT2: Yeah, that thing I said about English made no sense. Sorry, I should stop posting just after I wake up.
VonEbs 1224 Author Share Posted February 16, 2013 I find it amusing that you feel the need to fact chack my definitions. Anyway, Einstein is considered one of the greatest thinker's of his time, being able to grasp concepts never before grasped, and without him, the world would be very different. Jesus never spoke English, he spoke Aramaic and probably hebrew and greek. And yet tons of people still follow his philosophy. The language a person spoke has little to do with their ideals or their ability. Not to mention, that if you do not think German and Italian have words for insanity, I hope you start examining everything you say from now on. And no, creating lore will not stop them. It will lay the foundations for kicking them out and enriching our society.
TornadoWatch 364 Share Posted February 16, 2013 The elves have a whole list of problems. I'm just gonna be straight and put all my thoughts on the table here. I'm not trying to be offensive here, I'm just telling you what I've observed personally. - OOC clique mentality is extremely strong and causes pointless tension and division both internally and externally. - As a whole, I see a lot of OOC complaining coming from the elves. Could be a vocal minority, probably is... - Lack of politically savvy elves. I'm not mentioning any names, but some of your Princes really are lacking in this department and have a tendency to do some really politically dangerous stuff. - Lack of good law and order. The lack of organization and inability to respond to threats quickly is painfully apparent. The Elves need a bigger guard force and really should start to crack down on nonsense; we don't have many criminals in Oren because people have figured out that we mean business. People commit crime in Malinor because they know they can get away with it. - Lack of elves with military smarts. It would be useful to have someone like this; even if the elves are mostly peaceful, having a defense force only makes sense. - Lack of cool events or events in general. Oren has wars a lot, internal and external; that's our thing. Come up with something for the elves that you all enjoy. Just my two cents. In summary, sort out the OOC bickering, rethink your mentality on politics/foreign relations (Keep your high elves away from diplomacy.) and the military, crack down with the law, and begin developing positive, fun events for the elves.

I say yes. I feel that while we shouldn't just randomly take an "Oren" approach (I don't really like their law systems and such, brings about corruption en masse) I feel we do need to tighten up on laws, the OOC bickering, the IC bickering (Not going to name names, but a few sentinels are sowing chaos rather than bringing order) and so forth and so on. Baconthief 682 Share Posted February 16, 2013 ^^^^^ Sometimes fish I'd be cool to see you guys tackle issues without using OOC. Also the entire reason I came to malinor is I saw it was in trouble and needed change. Their high commander position was closely linked with their prince position and that was the route I took to princedom. I then tried to change things yet there was very little success. Fixing this IG is something I've been trying to do, yet there is little change. Think of this more as an idea chat, not the actual solution. I've seen too much fetus killing in my time, we need something done. I even had the crazy idea of trying to get the elves to be a race you must apply to be, but that's just too crazy. I will say malinor is made up of a bunch of cliques who are constantly arguing, always casting blame on each other. That's something I've been dealing with almost constantly. The people will only listen to the leader of their clique and will completely ignore authority of anyone else, even if they're prince. The guard force just cannot grow to a vast size to establish law and order, no matter how hard it's tried ooc and IG. I know this because I was their commander at a time. I am just going to say this, I will not be surprised if malinor cannot even make it to 3.

Ford 1996 Share Posted February 16, 2013 I've seen one Sentinel talking to the Prince of Malinor (Khel) as if he was below her. This makes absolutely no sense and I hope that conflicts like this can be solved more easily...
