Danny 2232 Share Posted February 19, 2013 Small bit of information for you guys here, as we're now keeping you up to date on even the smallest changes. After much discussion within the staff over the past while, it was decided that all bans will now have a minimum guideline time. We will not make these publicly available, but they are known by all staff members. In addition to this, bans for types of hacking are now not permanent bans but will result in severe punishment - this is because we feel that a permanent ban as a result of a player using a modified client once is not worthy of being banned forever - however, bans for hacking are the longest of any kind (other than permabans). Bans for pugsy'ing, cybering, paedophilia, necrophilia and bestiality remain permanent bans with no chance of an appeal. And in addition to that - all bans now equate to a single strike, regardless of their length. If a user reaches 5 strikes they will receive a six month ban. If they receive a strike after they are unbanned they receive a permanent ban. Cheers, The LOTC Staff
meg 1994 Share Posted February 19, 2013 So... Blatantly disregarding server rules to help onself= Temp ban Participating in lewd RP=Perma??? I kinda get the second one, but why should we let hackers back in? They know what they're doing, and what stops them from doing it again?

Elindor 666 Share Posted February 19, 2013 I know what pugsying is, but perhaps it can be put in more clear wording in the original post?
Ever 2648 Share Posted February 19, 2013 I like how Mau5 puts it. "You hacked and would have continued to hack until you were caught". I think hacking should remain a permanent ban offense.

I kinda get the second one, but why should we let hackers back in? They know what they're doing, and what stops them from doing it again? Well, once they're banned for the first time, the player would realize that the GM's/Admins mean business and will not tolerate hacking. Hopefully, they'll turn off their hacks and learn to play without them. If they do it a second time, then it's sort of obvious that they don't care whether or not they get banned, so the GMs/Admins ban them permanently
Space 2335 Share Posted February 19, 2013 I'd say, if their like x-raying it shouldn't be a perma, but something like a fly hack or combat mods is made to 'grief' other plays. x-ray isn.t
Skippy 2466 Share Posted February 19, 2013 In the same context. People who could get LOTC sued, and destroy the community < People who just hack. What the hell? People who could get LoTC sued are way much of a danger than a simple hacker.

If you hack you should be reprimanded no matter what you've done.

Telanir 6975 Share Posted February 19, 2013 I must say these really are improvements, just brilliant. Just for clarification, does the term "modified client" include people using x-ray packs and other such nonsense? Edit: Just to make the question more clear, does that mean people who have previously used an x-ray pack would fall under the "able to be unbanned" category? Hobolympic 1093 Share Posted February 19, 2013 I'd say, if their like x-raying it shouldn't be a perma, but something like a fly hack or combat mods is made to 'grief' other plays. x-ray isn.t I'll have to completely disagree with you there. X-ray is a lot worse, as it will /destroy/ our economy, something affecting the whole server. Combat mods have lesser consequences for the players, yet is of course a substantial reason for a ban.
