Discontent is fine, bitching markedly gets quite annoying. I had to sit down a player about why taking real-life [and Facebook] photos and degrading people is just allowing invective to pour through the conduct of people ICly.

Nobody said anything about discontent.  You're looking too far into it.  It's snide sarcasm or angry ranting that starts flames and insulting, etc.

 

Anything these days is taken as flaming. Take the earlier status updates. Someone makes one status of 'discontent' and an FM immediately posts a status scolding such.

 

I truly think staff members use the words "stopping flames" to replace "shut up and stay quiet." It's an excuse to just tell people that their opinion isn't wanted.

I don't think that the GM's or FM's do a particularly satisfactory job. I disagree with their decisions, and I think the server is imploding on itself because of many overly bureaucratic decisions. Here is more of the bureaucracy that causes new players to reject this server and drives old ones off.

I actually would not mind if you can contact me, I've noticed some kinks in the staff composition that needs to be ironed out. Send it privately and I will work from it.

Problems on the server? Let's cover it up with more censorship!!! This is most certainly not the attitude I would wish to see from staff going further and I believe it is absolutely deplorable. RIP to the last outlet of free speech on this server, you'll be missed. Covering up the servers problems does not solve them and I would believe would actually aggrandize  the problems we have as they are never dealt with.

You know what is more helpful than invective, I will magically give you the ability to actually make a reasonable, logical, and level-headed thread for everyone to comment on! Hence why #Kony2012 was an ignorant disaster. Let us be frank and blunt, statuses are a way someone can shoot low-blow, low-brow remarks sloppily and dodge out of the burning building afterwards with no real chance to have an intelligent discussion refuting or even backing the initial claim. If you make a proper, well-thought out and civil thread discussing a current issue, that is fine. Need I remind you that needless flaming and harassment also will not solve the issue, and if you post a proper thread about these issue, it will be much simpler to address it and show that it is being dealt with.

This is a worldwide server, not just an American one... So I don't think U.S. laws are the ones that LotC revolves around.

This is almost precisely the reason I do not post threads to address controversial issues on this server. No matter how civil the OP's post remains, it will almost always be derailed or taken down for offending some group or another or by using the popular cop-out of "flame war pls lock". I find that statuses address issues in a much more direct manner. This manner may be seen by some to be brash or rude, but nonetheless statuses provide a red pill for the problems that arise on the server. We can attempt to remain blissfully ignorant that no problems exist on this server and that by censoring statuses the drama will end but we'll just see the same behavior in threads. You're merely changing the output for the behavior, not the behavior itself.
