I thought you already decided seven days was a year...

I donno how to respond to your post Alan. So now, not only are we forced into this decision because people wanted to play a human FOREVER...but now we will face conciquences if those of us who like family rp chose to age a little faster?

I propose allowing faster aging until 17 or 18 to keep family rpers interested. Why force this down everyone's throat.

I apologize if this sounds ragey. Your response to those of us upset makes it seem more like you rather ban us than work to help make everyone content...

You aren't forced into this decision because people want to player a human that long, you're forced into this decision as it is what the community chose. This isn't some "guideline" for people to follow, this is straight up the time system that we WILL be using. I'm not going hard arse on you guys, but it really can't be said any other way. If a character is born in say 1450, then in 1455 they are an adult already, that creates a whole world of problems on an individual scale. Players who RPed children correctly and aged without speeding up could potentially end up adults after other children who were born after them because the latter ignored the time system.

And you can't expect everyone to be content from a decision that involves choosing a sole option when everyone in the community has a different opinion and thought. If you suggest letting you guys age faster, I'm sorry to say that we're not going to "allow" it, though I admit there's not much we can do to stop it on a server wide scale. With that being said, you guys shouldn't have chosen to RP child characters at all if you planned on skipping the majority of the RP anyways. 14 days is not even much longer than 12, so I'm surprised that so many people are acting like it's the end of the world.

I am not saying that. I was always told 1 week was a year since I started. I am stating that will most likely kill a good portion of role play. But acting aggressive towards those that are unhappy will not help either. This is going to turn away a lot of potential role play. I /enjoy/ child role play but at the same time I don't want to be forced to wait 2 months before they are even remotely playable...

I mean no disrespect when I say that this decision is going to hurt a LOT of rp

Honestly I find the time system will have too large of a range of effects to be judged. After a time plugin is implemented we will be able to see how the community reacts, and gauge our reactions accordingly. I mean, in terms of roleplay... yes: it will damage some, break some, and utterly mutilate and burn some. Simultaneously, however, roleplay will be created, improved, and sent through  ascension (hehe) for those willing to, or more than happy to cope with the changes.

Only time will tell. I'm sure that if this doesn't work our excellent administrative and coding teams will get on top of it.

If it does work, and a small part of the community says it makes child RP boring and they no longer want to be children... to you I say try it anyways! It will be fun! I know I, for one, would enjoy being a child in RP for a few months. It would be a fun change of pace to go from slightly useful to utterly useless beyond simple tasks.

As I said before, let's just see how this goes.

Does this mean that I should increase my character's age by a year every 14 days?

7 days was never a year. A GM said it once because they didn't know any better and suddenly EVERYONE thought it was true.

To this, I believe I read that there will be the ability to toggle aging on or off so you don't even have to think about it.

Aye.

I've been telling people 12 days = a year for the past 4 months, give or take a week or two ><

I kinda wish we did stick with 7 days/year, though. Eh, I voted for it, did all I could ^^

Not trying to come off as hostile or anything, but...

You're saying people will be reprimanded if they choose not to age their character according to some scale? I've always thought that age progression should be totally controlled by the player, not somebody else saying you have to make your character older on a set time period. If you are a good role-player, you will age your character consistently and realistically to your liking.

Just my thoughts.

If you are a GOOD roleplayer you will submerge yourself completely into the world of your character.

Pretty sure ageing will still be optional.

So child players will be punished if they age their characters faster, but adult players are allowed to age themselves slower? Seems fair...

And I don't know what you are talking about with the 'majority of the server' wanting 14 days, when in fact the votes were quite close. Not trying to be hostile, but imposing these changes and ruining to a degree the RP of many children, as well as their families is one thing. But forcing it down people's throats is just not right.

I like the mining idea, Much better to restrict it and the new reset times are good as well.

I play a human I constantly forget to age him, I think I need to add about 4 years onto his age right now so an automatic aging system would be helpful. I don't see the harm in watching my character grow old and die as it happens in real life so I don't see it as a problem. Plus my character won't change much until he is like 50 or so.

1. Because it took time to make it, I had to make a separate plugin to handle percentage chance, otherwise the system wouldn't have worked.

2. Nope. It even stated in the OP that this is a temporary mining system. This isn't how skills are going to work, you're going to have to wait and see for that.

1. Makes sense now. Thanks.

2. That's not really what I asked. The idea makes me think that this is how the previous skill system came to be.

I find it rather bothersome that there is a wide amount of people on this server that "does their own thing" - this is astounding, and not in a positive way. A roleplay environment has rules  the people who join must follow. This is not a server where "you do your own thing". You do not create your own age scales and other things on top of that -- I find the staff of the server does not put much more strict rules in place because the majority of the server would whinge and flip their lids because they actually have to follow guidelines.

You joined this community and you must follow the rules set for it.
