The Death Of A Chivay

The land of Kaedrin filled with a solemn semblance, the wind seemed to not blow... the fields left unharvested and shallow. Some say the water did not even ripple. This emotional void seemingly stemming from a single area- Ard Kerrack.

The whole keep silent, dead, not a movement in sight. All men were about doing checkpoint duty, yet one man remained. His quarters at the top of the Keep. Even from that area, the ill silence continued. A dark symbol of what was to come.

Peering out the large window in the dining hall, his breath was exasperated and parted. Only allowing faint and unfilling breaths to enter his lungs. His pupils grew larger- his throat began to tense- and slowly his breath slipped away from him... as no one was there to watch... or even save him.

A loud thud broke the still air in the Keep, the only sound echoing in its massive halls. To experienced military men it was unmistakable- a body had hit the floor. The sound soon followed by a barrage of footsteps onto the stone steps of the Keep's ascension corridor.

"N- No! No! No!"

Castor Chivay fell to his knees next to the limp body on the floor, his fall proceeded by the fall of a tear from his eye. Raw emotion spilling out from the deepest parts of his soul.

"This... this can't be!"

Further grief is induced as Castor's stare can't seem to break. The death, smashing every feeling of happiness, success, or love he had every held. This very moment- the first time he ever saw a true Chivay fall.

"He deserved a warrior's death... nothing like this."

Slowly passes through Castor's lips, his words parted and broken as tears stream down his face. In the same moment, Castor clenches his fist and grits his teeth. Attempting to hide the emotion he is shedding as he hears more footsteps coming toward the upper Keep.

The door is swung open by another onlooking, rushing into the room with all his strength and moving next to CastorYet a light hand is placed on Castor's shoulder to comfort him. Some even say... a Kingly grip.

The body that lay limp of the floor was none other than Brenius Chivay, secretly living at the top of Ard Kerrack all these years. A true blow to the Chivay Family Line.

George 'Andreou' Chivay, a distant and generally irrelevant cousin of both Brenius and Peter hears the news of the former's death from a dispatched courier while sitting in his modest hunting lodge in the foothills of Endaen. Regrettably and most unwisely, many years ago George had been put in control of the family's treasuries which were at the time verging on bankruptcy. Upon the arrival of a new, standardised currency throughout the whole of Gaekrin, George promptly went out on a spending spree, driving the Central Endaenean branch of House Chivay into bankruptcy and irrecoverable debt.

He recalls how his cousins Peter and Brenius made a plan to save his integrity, however he instead decided to put a referendum to all the workers and employees of House Chivay in the country at the time. Nonetheless, this plan was never implemented and George Chivay found himself exiled and disowned from his family on account of lhis gross ineptitude, unable to ever meet them again under penalty of death. Several times he had been evicted from restaurants around the country by the very same members of the proletariat whose pay he had docked as part of his austerity measures.

George gives a sigh of relief when the courier is finished, stroking his moustache and adjusting his cravat.

"Perhaps now I can return to my family!"
