I'm also surprisingly disappointed that you lied. Not so much that you did something you knew would cause stress to the staff with the intention of 'testing' them, but that you lied about it afterward. You make great points, Gaius, but you were in the wrong. Even if it wasn't a big deal or has been dramatized, it definitely wasn't kind.

 

Which seems to be your main point, being kind to people. Most of this server's problems (and the world's problems, really) would dissolve if people were decent to each other. The drama, the spite, the 'trolling' wouldn't happen if people could sympathize and follow the golden rule. Unfortunately kindness is something that must be learned on an individual level.

 

I also agree that we could use less or simplified applications, VAs especially, and just monitor and deal with problematic behavior. That's not in my power to change, or yours anymore. All the players can do is "Be excellent to each other," which at this point seems to be a lot to ask.

If half of the staff want to puff their chests out and walk with a muscular gait, might be worthwhile to poke a pin and let the hot air out. I once again stated that I COULD have easily wiped what little honest harm it had done. Hyperbole is unhealthy, I advise against it.

What are you talking about we found loads of enchanted items that had been approved by you as well as the tons of money handed out and it's not minute you have to check through every transaction to remove the bad trades which takes us a long time I believe 2 hours all due to your 'test'.

Excuse me? Once again, being constrictive to the point of not allowing any interesting RP to progress is rather staid. The enchanted items were not made during my 'escapade', you'll have to show me screenshots to even try and pull that one. Telanir is one other person who I found enchanted items from, but I saw it as an RP item and didn't caw.

 

Tythus, please show where I insulted you for being inactive. You skimmed through my post and you suffer my making silly points that fall on deaf ears. I was saying that having the Admins all have to green-light minute things [i put the Rittsy-Mogroka fight as an example] is not allowing the staff to be fluid and receptive to the wants and needs of the server.

Exactly. Very few actually believed he was hacked, and all the spawned money was fixed within an hour or two.

 

Right after the server came back up, I checked who spawned the money, then de-opped the account. Any claims of in-efficiency  are kind of nulled. We kept the server in Dev mode for the rest of the night to prevent any more trouble, not because we were panicking. 

 

I agree with nearly every point listed. And you know what I'm doing about it? I'm spending 10-16 hours online every day, attempting to work at them. To fix them. I'm not attempting to cause a mess for the rest to clean up. I'm trying. No long, detailed post. No refutes or claims. That's all I have to say: Things are a bit messy right now, and I'm trying.

 

Edit: And no, I'm not the only one. Some could be a bit more active, yes, but everyone is trying.

Ever truly has the right attitude here. He actually is doing something other than quitting out right because things aren't going his way. Personally, I cringe every time something like this, because it shows the true colors of the community... or more as players in the community; and they are certainly not white and holy. If everyone embraced this attitude, the server would be a much better place for all, instead of what it has turned into [then again it slowly seems to be reverting back to normal with all of those who left]. 

My main point is the fact that complaining and yelling that the staff are  for not doing enough is not going to cut it. People have to step up and make a difference, for the good of the server that is. Truly I am disappointed at you Gaius... you crazyguy and everyone else who "Went out with a bang", even if you are leaving, is this truly the example you want to leave behind? You could have been remembered as a great Gm until the end, but instead it came to this.

I guess all I can say is enjoy your life, and I hope you are proud of what you have done here.

Kindness doesn't work like that, it's about being decent to people regardless. You claim in this thread that you're nice to people you dislike (while discreetly insulting such people, might I add), so I would think you'd know that.

 

What's more, no one is going to learn anything when you give lessons like that. Silly or not, your 'students' feel betrayed, so whatever you were teaching them is lost. This post alone makes very good points, but you've sabotaged your own message, evidenced by what people have chosen to comment on so far.

I won't lie when I say I see truth in this, but then again, I reckon trying for a different manner of shoving the envelope was what I thought as I saw mostly invective and bellicose attitudes from the staff and let us be frank; recommendations have typically been thrown on the sidelines for the most part. Anyways, you all, I am retiring and uninstalling Skype to avoid any more clatter. I still stand by the fact that people are sensationalizing this, almost as if to manipulate people, but I won't delve on it anymore. Peace comrades.

I truly looked up to you as a player who's given his all to make this server a better place and I still see you no differently. I just wish you hadn't, despite the anger you garnered from the situation, pushed back in the way that you did. Posting something like this beforehand and choosing not do doll out the minas would have had a much stronger pull.
