shiftnative 3103 Share Posted August 31, 2013 I'd personally rather see, Some small tent-camp sized plots along the road from spawn made for new players to get footing. The North open up a bit more through Antag events. (Maybe have a few pieces of named enchanted armor to be found.) Some of the ghost-towns on the map destroyed. Once the north events have come to a close, maybe we could do a transition map like kalos?
Ever 2648 Author Share Posted August 31, 2013 Would the current system be just to say no to any requests in the new land? It depends, I guess. We were thinking of allowing the lands to me mostly freebuild, similar to the wilds. The wilds are too small and too hidden (sorta) to be useful. I've had players playing on the map for the past 4 months ask me where the wilds are. The goal of this expansion would be to supplement our lack of free space (since we can't simply unregion, as bad as I want to) with free land, but also design land to be interesting enough to warrant expeditions and adventuring in. So... tons of ruins and dungeons to explore, without that 'future even location' nonsense. Hopefully! One of the issues with our map is how brutal it is towards new players. If you do not know someone, if some kind soul does not take pity on your nooby-ness, you will not be able to survive. I'd say 80% of our new players quit within the first few days, probably because it's so difficult to get started.

I can personally say this will be happening sometime soon (not Soon™). We are waiting for one last thing to be completed and then we can get things rolling up there. hex37 737 Share Posted August 31, 2013 Basically, what the title asks. By map expansion, I mean adding new land/areas to explore/build in. Think of it as a content patch rather an expansion release. What would you like to see, if so? Or perhaps you're against the idea entirely? Let us know! We've got some ideas in the work but feedback is always appreciated. ALL OF MY YES. Kaun 102 Share Posted August 31, 2013 If we do have a new expansion to Anthos, I have a rather good idea how this expansion would come to be. PM me if you want to know my idea Ever.
Jistuma 1996 Share Posted August 31, 2013 More land IF no one can build in them.
Ever 2648 Author Share Posted August 31, 2013 More land IF no one can build in them. Why would you rather the land be relatively unusable? Any particular reason?
༺ Ben ༻ 38 Share Posted August 31, 2013 I believe their should be more land though settlements should be closer together.
mmat 7460 Share Posted August 31, 2013 Why would you rather the land be relatively unusable? Any particular reason? Because then more pointless settlements would spring up.
comanderbly^ 499 Share Posted August 31, 2013 I'd love more islands, but decently made ones.
Lark 2227 Share Posted August 31, 2013 Raze unused cities first. Expand Anthos later. Better Idea... Add an extra continent for exploration? Extra plot that could intertwine with Antag to add Protag?
Ever 2648 Author Share Posted August 31, 2013 Because then more pointless settlements would spring up. Players are going to build 'pointless' settlements no matter what. The lands are heavily regioned and yet ghost towns STILL pop up. The goal of this is to give players, especially newbies, a place to work with until they can get situated on the mainland, or a place to work with if they cannot. BegginLena 135 Share Posted August 31, 2013 I want more land, less towns though. More empty wilderness to get lost in and look cool.

The goal of this is to give players, especially newbies, a place to work with until they can get situated on the mainland, or a place to work with if they cannot. I think the goal of LOTC Staff should be to get players situated on the mainland ASAP. The point of the server is to immerse players in roleplay, is it not? I'd be fine with creating new lands that were mostly event and dungeon based. That could be interesting. Although if this were to happen, I think it'd be best if we started working to remove smaller towns all over Anthos and fill the capitals. I do understand everyone wants their own city, but the lack of RP in the capital regions is an issue. And there are RP ways of doing this. Abresi has become quite the hub since Salvus was closed during the war.
MonkeyCoffee 516 Share Posted August 31, 2013 If this happens, which I'd love to see happen, make it so that the new areas are more for exploring, ruins and the like.
