  1. If you are interest. Join the Discord: https://discord.gg/T58qw4gcx2 Hello friends and nemesis of LOTC. I would like to announce a new collaborative player settlement/faction that is in the brainstorming and initial building phase for the new map. I am looking for other players and creative writers that would like to be involved in this yet-to-be named group. People who like to get involved in projects early in their creation, excel with community involvement and lore writing are welcome. People who wish to be involved by expressing interest in joining the group, are also welcome. We'll need Discord Wizards as well as regular ones. General pitch: A Multi-ethnic Feudal Magocracy, where magical ability is the measure of talent and grants access to citizenship, government, and nobility. Led by their Sorcerer-King, a non-hereditary title chosen from among the Circle of Mages. Magic will be highly prevalent in society, even required to hold citizenship and participate in politics. Non-magic wielding members of society seek to better their lives through the patronage of powerful magical noble houses, and in turn the Magical Lords of society seek to seek a mass of apprentices to add their own house prestige and power. The Pursuit of magical power, combined with political and diplomatic skill and intrigue toward overarching national goals, is what separates this group from magic guilds. The goal of this group is to create a nation of wizards and sorcerers, where Feudalism, Intrigue, and magic are central to society. But also a nook of the server where ardent forum writers and lore contributors have an area where their 'work' both promotes the society and is rewarded. This is not, at its outset, planned on being the home to the host of dark mages and necromancers of the world. I am using some popular fantasy magocracies as heavy lore inspirations. Avalir House Telvanni The Red Wizards of Thay Everything after this as far as mechanics for economy, tax, structure of the government, military, nobility etc - is entirely open. Those who have played with me in LOTC know that I like to try bold and unconventional group dynamics that emphasize fun mechanisms for player intrigue and conflict, that promote stories and conflict. This means I inherently bake in conflict mechanisms and expect the 'leaders' I bring into any group to respect conflict and create stories - we compete ICly, but work OOCly with each other to prevent toxicity and respect the work that goes into other people's projects. 3. Revelation of the 110th Year of the Second Era Amber Cold 'MALIN LIVES!' ‘WE KNOW NO KING, BUT MALIN’ Reverence - Community-Humility-Temperance-Industry sirame ito kae'leh, nae oroment, llir'Malinor. It pleases me to discharge the duties of this office, working towards an era of Mali cooperation - one that focuses on our likeness to Malin; not our differences. It is therefore with joy that we have worked to secure the rights of the Pan-Elven Malinists and pilgrims to the cihi of Nor'Asath, as we respect the ancestors and those who have come before - we jointly give praise and worship to the greatest among us after reaching spiritual accord with the Porobmôg of the Maehr. Nor’Asath is the Mali’Ker cihi of the Maehr, center of Mali’Ker power, authority, and culture. Home of a multitude of clans, Nor’Asath is the successor to the city-state of Ker’nor, starting once as a settlement of Stygian-Hollow and the Remnant of Renlia. In the modern age, since Nor’asath was reborn under the Fennic city. It has taken the old mantle of Ker’nor, with old teachings of the Onyx Sanctum, a few Warhawkian clans and beliefs, and new Mali’ker that rallied beneath the call of its Primarch, Netseth’Loachil. Devotion to the Spirits, and the Ancient Maehr was reborn. This settlement of Mali’ker has strict rulings against most deity based and voidal magics. Serving the spirits as Velulaei once did in agreement with the pact this Malinic Princess made with Luara, Greater Immortal Spirit of the Moon. For the salvation of her people, the Maehr. Luara dyed their hues grey and black, eyes of gemstones and hairs metallic as a display for Kor, Greater Immortal Spirit of the Dead. As Saneyir of the Temple of Malin - I discharge the following to all followers of The Way. The Chapter of Laurir Velulaei‘Ilum and the Cult of Velulaei is formally recognized by the Temple of Malin; we authorize her worship alongside Malin in all temples and personal shrines. In addition we further recognize the following Numenic Maehr Cults, worthy of veneration. The Numenic Cult of Valin - The Warrior Poet The Numenic Cult of Uradas The Numenic Cult of Koltira The Numenic Cult of Khel The Numenic Cult of Dak’ir The Numenic Cult of Wytall The Numenic Cult of Lendyn The Numenic Cult of Arganos The Numenic Cult of the Dalmakia Trio The Numenic Cult of Daesxin The Numenic Cult of Mali’Ker Ancestors, These clans are vast and wide, claiming devotion to the ancestral spirits of their own clans within Stargush’Stroh. These are located within the Temples bottom floor of Nor’asath and within Clan homes. The Ancestor shrines of the Maehr of Nor'Asath shall jointly serve as physical sites of worship for Malinists. No further Temple Shrines are necessary; though we encourage the construction of a shrine to Malin, as Father of all Mali, to be added within Nor’Asath Ancestor Halls in an appropriate manner; Temple funds are available for its construction. The Maehr retain ownership of these shrines foremost; however, I direct the following in regards to the Ancestor Halls of Nor'Asath for all followers of The Way. All followers of The Way shall abide by the Temple Laws of Nor’Asath while in Nor’Asath. The site is designated as a holy site of The Way. Thus all followers of the way are obligated to defend it with their life. Followers may clean and maintain the site as a sign of good will, but are forbidden from altering or otherwise interfering with the shrines. Followers will not invoke the deific powers of Malin or the Mali Pantheon during worship; though may speak their names with the exception of those Aenguls of the Pantheon of Malin'or who shall remain unnamed. The Maehr shall maintain priority on the use of the ancestor hall, followers of The Way shall seek to be good stewards and neighbors. Private shrines within one's home may be honored in the normal tradition for those following ‘The Way’ Velulaei is recognized as the Patron of Nor'Asath; followers shall endeavor to invoke her name on behalf of the good-will of Nor’Asath where possible. Followers of ‘The Way’ shall scrutinize artifacts of Velulaei and work to return cultural artifacts of the Maehr to their people. I direct any current artifacts of Velulaei to be immediately handed over to the Maehr related to the events of Velulaei’s expedition from Malin’or into the wilderness on our Father’s behalf. The Temple of Malin shall as a general rule, in the event of unique or unusual circumstances, operate from a position of respect and deference to the Maehr of Nor'Asath. The Temple will attempt to do so without compromising the core tenets of ‘The Way’: Malin as King of Malin'or, Mali as worthy of Veneration, and dedication to the five instructions. We obligate all followers of the Way to defend the residents of Nor'Asath from foreign aggression and to join in all defensive wars on their behalf under the Chapter of the Cult of Velulaei. We affirm that Azul and his followers are considered enemies to the faith of Malinism and are to be hunted and persecuted to prevent his ascension as a dark Deity of Malin’or. The Pilgrim Chapter of Velulaei Laurir Velulaei‘Ilum Portfolio: Exploration, Curiosity, Mourning Avatar: The Ashen Pariah, Devotee of Luara, Sorrowful Princess, First Primarch of Magara’lin Patron of: Nor'Asath, The Maehr, Explorers, Adventurers, Mourners Favored Summoning: Snow’s Maiden / Nighttime Favors: Night glow, Oracle Wood, Star-Steel, Lurker Chitin. The Cult of Velulaei’illumon, acknowledges the adventurous nature of Velulaei at the time that she served her father - a great explorer and bold leader among the Maehr. Yet it also recognizes the mournful and sorrowful nature between Her and her King-Father, who cast her from the living lands of Malin’or during the time of her curse and rage. She is the Patron deity of the Maehr, wherever they choose to call home. On Joining the Temple We remind potential followers of the following requirements to join: o You must be at least 18 years of age o You hold no obligations that would prevent you from serving the temple (You cannot be in a nation’s military or have sworn an oath to an Elven Prince) o You must be an Elf or Half-Elf of any mix o You have made no pacts on your soul, and as such have not consorted with Daemons or Aenguls that will have prevented you from paying homage to the Elven Pantheon or achieving ascension yourself. If you wish to serve the King,, our heavenly Father, and aspire to ascend to Malin’or with him - please inquire with the faithful of the Temple. This joint statement is signed; Saneyir Melphestaus Porobmôg of Nor'asath, Primarch of Maehr
  4. Revelation of the 109th Year of the Second Era Deep Cold 'MALIN LIVES!' ‘WE KNOW NO KING, BUT MALIN’ Reverence - Community-Humility-Temperance-Industry sirame ito kae'leh, nae oroment, llir'Malinor. It pleases me to discharge the duties of this office in arranging the free worship of Malinism, securing the right to preach and practice openly the Malinist faith within the city of Lurin and its Temple grounds as well as accept converts and applicants to the Temple from the city. As always, Temple members are bound by the local laws of the cities in which they reside. Lurin is a place for all races, though for the majority this settlement is dominated by elves and constructs with a few humans and the odd dwarf or orc, having had a mildly violent past a mercenary company they have established a government from this mercenary band’s structure to give space to their various people with unique architecture and culture. The Lurin Place of Worship is located within the city walls in a rather visible place behind the local military complex, using this location as a place of worship for all religions, though Malinism among them. The following strictures are issued from my seat as Saneyir. I. The Temple of Malin shall not exist in a permanent physical structure within Lurin, but shall display its icons, and offer its sacrifices on the months of “First Seed” within the general temple construct of Lurin. I.a The Chapter of Eshtael’Tahariae is hereby established; and the Cults of Eshtael and Tahariae are now permitted for worship alongside Malin at personal home shrines, and during official services under local customs in accordance with Malinist traditions. It shall seek and protect relics and artifacts related to Eshtael’Tahariae for safe-keeping within the city of Lurin. The Local Chapter may develop appropriate rituals and iconography as appropriate to promote the cult. I.b The Chapter of Esthael’Tahariae directed to serve as the primary line of defense for all Malinists and its Temple property within Lurin. They shall additionally serve as defenders of Elven inhabitants of the city. All followers of The Way are obligated to join defensive wars on behalf of the Lurin under the banner of the Chapter ofEshtael’Tahariae, when deemed of threat to the faith and Malin’s people by the Saneyir. The Cult of Eshtael & Tahariae Eshtael’Tahariae Portfolio: Balance, Justice, Purity Avatar: Uplifting Feminine Aengul (Eshtael), Radiant Orb of Light (Tahariae) Patron of: Judges, Lawmakers, Healers Favored Summoning: Grand Harvest / Night Favored Offerings: Quartz, Weights, loudly spoken thoughts The Temple acknowledges the dual deity of Eshtael’Tahariae, the Patron Aengul protectors of the city of Lurin. The Cult of Eshtael’Tahariae reflects the local customs of Aengul worship within the City of Lurin, though combines the two entities into a singular cult of worship - recognizing their important role as both judge and the executioner of justice in the mortal realms, as Aengulic supporters of the great Malin. On Joining the Temple Requests to join the temple. o You must be at least 18 years of age o You hold no obligations that would prevent you from serving the temple (You cannot be in a nation’s military or have sworn an oath to an Elven Prince) o You must be an Elf or Half-Elf of any mix o You have made no pacts on your soul, and as such have not consort with Daemons or Aenguls that will have prevented you from paying homage to the Elven Pantheon or achieving ascension yourself. If you wish to serve the King of gods, our heavenly Father, and aspire to ascend to Malin’or with him - please inquire with the faithful of the Temple.
  5. Revelation of the 109th Year of the Second Era Snow Maiden 'MALIN LIVES!' ‘WE KNOW NO KING, BUT MALIN’ Reverence - Community-Humility-Temperance-Industry sirame ito kae'leh, nae oroment, llir'Malinor. It pleases me to discharge the duties of this office in the consecration of the recently constructed Temple of Malin in the elven cihi of Sulianpoli, known locally as ‘The blessed cihi’. Sulianpoli is a silver colony in the classic high elf democratic City-state style within the Krugmenistani firelands. Founded on the site of antediluvian ruins, it is a noteworthy site for its connection to the bronze trade and a towering volcano, called Kazzarkin, which hosts the largest temple complex in Almaris. The Sulianpoli Temple of Malin is located within the city walls, combining local architecture with traditional Malinist design. The follow strictures are issued from my seat as Saneyir. I. The Temple of Malin in Sulianpoli is a sanctified site of worship and designated the Chapter Larihei’Elberun. In addition to Malin, the primary cult of worship within the Temple shall be the Cult of Larihei the General. In addition, a single yet to be named shrine for an ascending Numen is authorized within the Temple. The following chapter provisions are now in place. I.a The Chapter of Larihei’Elberun shall have her central place of worship within Sulianpoli. Artifacts related to Larihei’Elberun shall be kept within this temple. The Chapter is responsible for promoting The Way within the city, and to keep and maintain the faith of Larihei’Elberun. They may develop further iconography, symbols, and rituals as necessary to maintain her cult and any Numen of the Temple. I.b The Chapter of Larihei’Elberun is directed to serve as the primary line of defense for all Malinists and its Temple property within the bronze cihi of Sulianpoli. They shall additionally serve as defenders of Elven inhabitants of the city. All followers of The Way are obligated to join defensive wars on behalf of the Sulianpoli under the banner of the Chapter of Larihei’Elberun, when deemed of threat to the faith and Malin’s people by the Saneyir. II. The Temple of Malin hereby acknowledges the dual nature of Larihei, and formalizes the Malinist faith sect of the bronze-elves and their localized worship of Larihei, to be called 'Larihei the Bronze Maiden’. Further, that all major holidays and rituals in her name are to be promoted from Sulianpoli. Minor shrines in her honor may be constructed by her followers anywhere they deem fit and have permission to do so. On the Duality of Larihei Larihei’Elberun Portfolio: Strategy, Tactics Avatar: Spear wielding maiden with shield Patron of: Generals, Strategists, Gladiators Favored Summoning: Snow’s Maiden / Daylight Favors: Gladiator combat, Heroic deeds, strategic thinking The Temple acknowledges the dual nature of Larihei, who by faith of the bronze elves has been formed in a new avatar known as ‘Larihei the General’, or the Larihei the bronze Maideni, Larihei’Elberun. Larihei the general represents Larihei as a skilled strategist, general, and a master of tacticians. This avatar of Larihei represents her time on Malin’s council as a great general in the war against Iblees, and when she is manifested in this form she is less emotionally aloof than her other avatar, Larihei the Mage. Larihei’Elberun is more bronzed and of darker hair - wearing a facial expression full of life and emotion and is more physically close in appearance to her father, Malin. In blessed Malin'or this avatar of Larihei remains Malins most beloved and trusted daughter, the leader of his armies in the constant defense against Iblees. She represents the qualities of Larihei before she discovered the golden pools, Larihei’Elberun is most pleased when gladiatorial games are held in her name, Heroic deeds are dedicated in her honor, and Generals employ well-developed strategies. For this reason, she has no sacrificial altar for her shrines - for she values legendary and amazing deeds above gifts. On Joining the Temple We have been inundated with requests to join the Temple; we remind potential followers of the following requirements to join. o You must be at least 18 years of age o You hold no obligations that would prevent you from serving the temple (You cannot be in a nation’s military or have sworn an oath to an Elven Prince) o You must be an Elf or Half-Elf of any mix o You have made no pacts on your soul, and as such have not consort with Daemons or Aenguls that will have prevented you from paying homage to the Elven Pantheon or achieving ascension yourself. If you wish to serve the King of gods, our heavenly Father, and aspire to ascend to Malin’or with him - please inquire with the faithful of the Temple.
  6. Minuvas would note, pleasingly, the historian's accurate recollection on his official promotion to the post of Archchancellor - and concurs with the assessment of the Empire during this time.

Born to father, Minuvas & Morgana. A great deal was debated amongst the family regarding the upbringing and the future of Nicholas, whether the child shall have a more ancestral Elven education or one that focuses on an elite Imperial upbringing. These matters have been settled, and internal arrangements made within the family that resolved this matter and more. Nicholas must for the first century of his life ward himself to service within one of the three recognized lines to the Imperial Crown; Alstion, Sigismund or Novellen and their States. He shall be obligated to serve no single State or nation forthwith; but he may not serve under any nation that is not led by a descendant of the Imperial line. 3. 8. A particular Elf had a particularly bad memory of a particular Azor Chancellery of another era. Demuring from a temple room where he sat in meditation, thinking of the beloved forests of his homeland the humans were fighting over.
  9. Malin’s Will on recent affairs of fi’Malin’or sirame ito kae'leh, nae oroment, llir'Malinor. Many are quick to shield themselves with the blanket of our Father, for there is none more wise and powerful than him in their bestowal of authority upon those Mali that led them. I have watched carefully the development of fi’Malin’or since the time of its inception - and while I knew at its heart this fi’Malin’or was built on the blood of fellow Mali and a rejection of the necessary communities of the Druii and Mali’thill of Haelun’or, it was my hope that violence and pride would have been subdued in the prospects of a grande elven future based on a magnificent past. So, it seems we return to our way of pride once more, yet let it not become the way of blood, but instead a time of new leaders and new opportunities for a new High Prince to be found amongst Malin’s children. Yet we must be clear - the temple of Malin alone is the keeper of Malin’s will and his word. While the Princes may make their secular proclamations, to invoke our Father’s name invites scrutiny to the merit of one’s claim. To speak on his Kingdom as a whole call into question a Prince’s authority, for no Prince may impose themselves upon all of Malin’s people without the rightful inheritance of High Prince of Malin'or. As a simple Mali, I am content to live amongst all Malin’s realm and enjoy his peace with his people. I have pilgrimed to the great ancestor shrines of Vortice, shared amphoras of wine with Silver elves from Sulian’poli to Haelun’or, studied in the ruins of the Warden's tower of the Pale, lived in merriment under the shade of Amaethea, befriended Princes and citizen alike from Celia’nor to Nor’Asath, and paid ancient respects to the wise Druii of the Vale where many elder Mali now reside - all truly, the full breath of Malin’or. We love all of His children and their realms, each contributing great measures of preservation and protection of His people. Yet at the request of Malin’s disciples, of whom you have written to me to bring the weight of Malin’s discernment on this matter, I shall do so out of obligation and respect. As his saneyir, and leader of His Temple, I am obligated to break my public silence on the political matters of the Princedoms - against heresy and blasphemy of His name and His Kingdom when evoked. We know no King but Malin! I -oem On the claims of Earendel Ibarellen Claim to High Prince of Malin’or. At this time, we see public proclamations amongst the recognized Princedoms of Nor’Asath, Elvendom and Celia’Nor that have declared the seat of the High Prince of Malin’or to be in dispute. Further, the City State of Haelun’or and the Druidic realm of the Vale , who make up the full coalition of all who must contribute to the choice of such a position as their ancestors did in the time of Malin, further have not recognized its authority since the inception of fi’Malin’or. Thus, the Temple considers the seat of the High Prince to be in abeyance. We eagerly await the hope of a new ascension of a great High Prince, who shall wear Malin’s mantle, to bring the return of our King. Claim as Heir of Malin. This statement is true, in so much that all of us are heirs of Malin - and any who sit upon his council may be called Prince or Princess. There are no noble bloodlines for the Malin’onn, only those chosen by our people or our King to serve as first among equals. Claim as Saneyir of Malin. As I currently serve as Malin’s Saneyir, passed to me in succession by the Saneyir before me, bestowed by the thrice blessings of Thill Arcane Magic, Ker Ancestral Power, and Ame Aspectral blessings and sealed by the awarding of an artifact of Malin himself and then affirmed by Malin’s disciples, I declare this claim to be false. Claim as Heir to Celia’nor. It is not our duty within the Temple of Malin to interfere in the matter of succession of the Princedoms. As we remained neutral in the matter of Haelun'or to choose its Sohaer in a time when the rest of the Mali world demanded intervention in its domestic affairs, it is the Order of Malin's strict policy to remain neutral in the domestic affairs of the sovereign nations of the Mali realms. We are all heirs of Malin, all worthy of Princely titles, and thus these matters remain out of our purview. Unless the Government of Celia’Nor explicitly desires us to investigate this matter, which we do not expect, the crown of such a Princedom is a domestic affair. Claim as ‘Fist of Malin’or’. We have scoured the historical records for such a title, none have ever existed in any realm called Malin’or. However, we deem that a High Prince of Malin’or would have the authority to create such a title on behalf of our Father and our people. Thus this bestowal is in dispute until such time as the title of High Prince is settled. II -niut On the claims of Acanthus Onar Daesmon Silma and Alaesia Prisgoth Ithelanen Claim to the tite High Prince of Amaethea. Malin’or has but one High Prince, but we must affirm there is no dispute for the Princes of Elvendom to carry such a title as is their local custom amongst this Princedom. This matter is therefore, despite the concerns of those who have written, not a concern for the Temple of Malin - the Crown of Amaethea is a sovereign Princedom of the Kingdom, and may stylize its leaders as they see fit - other than the obvious offense of declaring themselves Malin, King, of all Elves. All other proclamations by the High Prince of Amaethea remain a sovereign matter not within the purview or care of our Father. We bestow our blessings, as we did at their coronation, and hope they rule wisely and justly over their realm. III -hael Concluding Thoughts We lament the sad return to Mali fragmentation, the return of subracial Princedoms, and an Elven return to ancient pride. It is not our Father’s will that the Princes return to practices that caused the initial fall of Malin’or and thus we shall return to our ancient endeavor to advise, to speak truth and to encourage the Princedoms to unite once more to usher in an age of Mali power, prestige, and success. We encourage our disciples to recover those artifacts that capture the most recent incarnation of the realm of Malin'or for safekeeping unto the return of its next High Prince. The Temple of Malin shall record that the last rightful inheritor of the title of High Prince of Malin'or is High Prince Vyllaenon Daemyr, and that the seat of High Prince remains vacant and in abeyance until the next great conclave of Mali, with the guidance of Malin's court, determine who wields His mantle and authority as His High Prince or Princess. We remain humble servants to our King, and those Princes who serve him, and are available for summons at theirs - or any Mali's - request. For we know but one King and his name is Malin As authored by saneyir of the Malin’onn Leader of the Order of Malin The Authentic Texts of Malin The Way of Malin and his Teachings: Part I The Way of Malin and the Five Instructions: Part II The Way of Malin and his Venerations: Part III .
  10. The Way of Malin Part III The Court of Malin Preface sirame ito kae'leh, nae oroment, llir'Malinor. There are a great many powers in our world. Some, like the Valah God, are absent - leaving the realm of men to toil short lives without divine providence. Some, like the Daemon Ibleese are fell and violent towards Elfkind, seeking the ruination of our souls. More still are so exclusive, covetously looking down upond descendant kind, offering only the most minute of gifts to a narrow band of those they deem worthy. Standing in contrast against these powers are those venerable of Malin’s Court. Bestowing on his adherents real and present gifts; divine, spiritual, and arcane for all those Mali who serve their King. Malin himself the most powerful entity in his own right, some might even call the Firstborn a god, for he wields powers beyond our own understanding. We deny that he should be called a God, for the Prophet can be killed and bleeds as any other Elf - but in doing so we do not deny that he is all powerful, wise, and ageless. The immortal Father, who wielded magics great and untold, who conversed with the Fae and the Aspects, and who spoke and kept the company of Dragon’s - and who, with the Aengul Auriel, bestowed upon his people a great and joyous immortality is not a power to be trifled with. Our Father’s power, and his realm, is expansive - an extension through each and every elven descendant who shares a measure of his blood among the worlds. The Kingdom of Malin’or, therefore, is more than just dirt beneath one's feet. All Elfkind who serve their King are entitled to the Kingdom, which exists physically not only in his Temples, or those Princes and their lands, but in every Elf - regardless of nationhood, who seeks to bring about the second reign. The most devoted servants to Malin shall ascend to his Court at the time of his coming, rewarded for their filial loyalty to their Father. Malin’s Court could be considered lesser deities by any measure of the word, but we emphasize again that his Court is real and present - seeking to guide us in all things. Every Elf can be a Prince and Princess on Malin’s court - for we are all his children. There is no hereditary inheritance in Malin’s Court; for we are all formed in the same noble lineage. Malin’s court, however powerful and mighty that they are - are not absent, omniscient beings. Some are among the world of the living, some in the ethereal realm of the deceased. They are subject to the vices and sins of our Father, even if infinitely less prone to them than we are. For it is his children, us, that sit upon His Court. This hubris is not unjustified, for they can die, be killed and replaced as any Elf can. His Court can be roused to anger, jealousy, arrogance and pride. It can be said our gods truly know us, for they are us. Many sacred beliefs and philosophies hold sacred texts, but Malinism has no true such documents - Malinism is drawn almost fully from sacred tradition, with every historical document, every elven artifact a relic from which to draw the practices of our ancestors. There can be no Malinism without an avid study of Mali history in its unfiltered form, with those things drawing their history from the time of Malin’or as the most authentic to today’s veneration. From this and their blessings, do we determine the venerations of Malin’s Court. And so come to the heart of the matter, who is within the court of Malin, and how the laymen and devotees may ascend to Malin’s Court - bringing our father to once again rule our people. Malin Lives! I -oem Malin Avatars: The Firstborn | The First Ancestor | The Fae Walker | The Immortal Father | Father of Dragons | King | The Prophet There is no King but Malin, and among the venerable court of Malin none stand as equal to the immortal and powerful Malin himself - first born and immortal descendant child. We venerate our Father through the five instructions, seeking to live as Malin did. We put aside petty squabbles in service to the King, attempting to look past our differences and see in ourselves our similarity - Malin. Malin is most pleased when we draw steel against those who oppress us, and when we show obedience to his teachings. Chromatic colored eyes are said to be a blessing of Malin. One can never over-venerate Malin, but his lack of veneration serves as a reason for his continued absence from the throne - proving we are unworthy of his leadership. II -niut The Great Venerations - The Princely Council The most powerful of Malin’s court are called the ‘Great Venerations’, those who wield the greatest authority and power in his realm - his Princely Council. One must be careful to not pay too much attention to any member of Malin’s court over the other; for they are petty and arrogant in their own right, requiring balance in worship to prevent fracturing amongst elven unity. Their venerations are best when equally sought. The Princely council may appear as powerful avatars amongst our realm to manifest their power. Blessed Princess Larihei Avatars: The Silver Maiden, The Blessed One, The Betrayer, The Chosen One, The Enchantress, The Arcanist Among Malin’s court, Larihei was his most trusted and intelligent advisor. Though she inflicted on her Father a great betrayal, this diminished her power and authority amongst his court - but never fully the admiration of her Father. Renowned for her cunning, intellect and superior spycraft - we understand Larihei to be the most withholding of her blessings. She is the most difficult of the Great Venerations of the Court to understand what pleases her. We evoke her aspects in matters of espionage, the use of the void - and when we must show defiance. Over-veneration of Larihei often leads to arrogance, pride, and turns measured defiance into outright betrayal. Blessed Princess Sirame Avatars: The Keeper of Tradition, The Unchanged One, The Forest Walker, The Druii’lliran Princess Sirame represents much that is good and innocent within Malin’s court, and her avatars are evoked most often when the path before oneself is unclear. Princess Sirame's example calls for us to live amongst the natural woodlands of our ancestors, to honor the Druii and their ways, and to know and keep tradition. We look to her when we are afraid and unsure of the future. Over-veneration of Sirame can lead to meekness, indecisiveness, and stagnation. Blessed Princess Veluluai Avatars: The Ashen One, The Rage, The Explorer, The Pact-Maker, The Grieved One, The Moon Spirit, The Tragic One Princess Velu appeals to the nature of the Elven soul that seeks adventure, the thrill of discovery, and the unknown. Among Malin’s children none was more trusted than to foray into the unknown that his daughter Veluluai. She is a bold and charismatic leader, but she also represents Elven tragedy, and loss. We venerate her for comfort when we suffer loss and seek her blessings when we pursue new ventures. Over-veneration of Veluluai can lead to unneccesary risk, tragic loss, and unpleasant surprises. The Aengul Auriel Avatars: None The Aengul Auriel is both a part of and separate from Malin’s Court. An Aengul and powerful deific being, Auriel bestowed us with immortality. She appears to us as she always has, as a powerful and caring mother - whose own divine energies have mingled with our souls and the blood of Malin to make us immortal. Dedicants of the Order of Malin are marked by Auriel, and it is from her that we attribute our divine magics in service to Malin. We know her to be particularly fond of Elves and particularly distasteful of the undead. As the Aengul Auriel bestows divine power upon us, she is often evoked in prayer when utilizing magics and blessings on behalf of the Court. III -hael The Lesser Venerations - The Courtiers The Lesser venerations are the courtiers and regal servants to Malin and his Princely Court. They serve important roles, even if they do not rule over an entire demesne within Malin’s realm, they are given an important purpose. The Lesser venerations do not have manifestations as avatars; however, they have facets that make up the portfolio of their veneration. This list is not exhaustive, as we discover through sacred tradition and history new members of the court - to be added as lesser venerations. Every Elf amongst the realm can ascend to the court and be worthy of veneration. (Generously pulled from the work of mmat) Arcatius Tharsion - The First Royal Guard of Malin Facets: Duty, Cunning, Loyalty Only a few records of this historical figure survive from the time of his life. Nevertheless, those few sources reveal a formidable character who was both fiercely loyal towards the ones he served and fiercely hostile towards those who might have disturbed the stability of the world in which he lived. This immortal appeared to be the most politically savvy of the three, thriving on intrigue and plots, as well as the thwarting of such things. A relatively quiet figure, these plots were not of a malicious making, but in service of his Great Father, who he served perhaps more faithfully than either of his companions - given the opportunities and temptations he in particular was given for betrayal. The seeds of conspiracy to undermine and possibly unseat the first Elven Father were always present, as such things always are, waiting to bloom at any malignant nurturing by resentment and animosity. It takes an unassuming and quiet animal to slash such shrubbery before it matures. Eventually, these seeds sprouted into a coup attempt after some loss of prestige in a botched battle. The emotion and resentment is hard to put into words, but it is definite that this rebellious attempt was fueled in part by both. However, when the moment of betrayal came, each conspirator was frozen in place, apparently by some unseen force. In reality, Arcatius had neutralized almost all of them through means of gold or guile, driving a wedge between them so that they might be confronted at a less precarious time. The Father left his Immortal to handle the fallout of this inauspicious series of events, and so successful was he that nothing was heard of again. Vayan Arth’alemoth - The Second Royal Guard of Malin Facets: Leadership, Aspiration, Intellect Even though he is notable in other recovered Malinic documents as the Elven commander at the Tree-wreathed River and subsequent discovery of a ruined city, no more of this Immortal is known than either of the other two. His deeds serve as an example to those Virarim who, while perhaps not the apex martial combatant, pursue victory as well with their mind and authoritative aura. Through this, they might rise through the ranks and command. This immortal, known simply as ‘the commander’ on many occasions, was the representative of the Malinic Court at the helm of regular armies on the field of battle. He would serve just below the appointed general, ready to take over at any point if needed, and ready to advise if required. As a proven commander he was assertive and loud compared to his brethren, and he seemed to be their spokesman when such was necessary. His command style also seemed to others reckless and brash at times, but was effective, nonetheless. Vayan was attached to the army of between 30,000 and 100,000 Elves which was defeated handily by the heavy cavalry hammerhead of an undead army. Its infantry was decimated and its commander was also killed. As was protocol, Vayan took up the sceptre of leadership and led the scattered force, laden with refugees fleeing the devastation. This care for the refugees of all descendant races seemed quite suicidal for his martial power, as he positioned the refugees at the front of his column and therefore was hindered by their slow speed, being exposed to the enemy at the rear. In order to avoid harassment by the undead cataphracts, Vayan sent mounted feints of light scouts and cavalry of his own to the flanks of the enemy in order to misdirect their charges and slow them in turn. These faster units then retreated invisibly back to the column after causing casualties of their own. At times, the refugees and soldiers may have lost heart due to their losses, both during the retreat and the upcoming battle itself. Despite this possibility, it never happened, The Commander’s charisma and rousing words prevented this. Marethun Valke’dyte - The Third Royal Guard of Malin Facets: Strength, Stalwartness, Valor Seemingly unquestionably the greatest martial combatant in the Triad of Malin’s immortals - which seems to say a lot about just how competent he was. Marethun’s personality appears the simplest of the three and gives the image of an immovable rock in the path of any attacker, unable and absolutely unwilling to be moved. His appearance as a ‘simple’ creature through, does not mean he was stupid. Merely that his enjoyment of life came from facing an opponent in politics and arms face to face rather than through subversive means. Marethun’s notable deeds were many, but one of his greatest was his victory in a large inter-kingdom tournament which saw combatants from all realms competing. It progressed as all normal tournaments do, with cheers and jeers from each side. An extraordinary moment came when a personal insult against his King was heard by Marethun in favour of the combatant’s own ruler. He was now unwilling to simply reign victorious and insisted that the man choose two of his most able comrades to fight with him - as if to make it a fair fight. They did, and the duel began. Specific details of the fight are unclear, but chronicles depict his use of the three close combat weapons most common in the Kingdom’s martial forces: the spear, the sword and the body. First, Marethun disabled one opponent through his physical bodily strength. Then, wielded his spear and remained at a safe distance while incapacitating the second opponent. Finally, he unsheathed his blade and matched his original opponent in single combat, achieving victory after a short time. After this battle, he went on to win the tournament. The Saneyir - The Speaker of Malin Facets: Unity, Diplomacy, Humility, the Peacemaker It is not possible for even the powerful Malin to be at all places and see all things. Knowing his realm to be fractious, prideful, and filled with deceit - Malin appointed one agent above all to ensure his will was being enforced and that no subordinate could lie to his face about the dealings of his Kingdom. In addition, he needed an agent who could ensure that his will was understood across the entirety of his realm - with no Prince of his Council distorting his message within their own realm. It is within this context that Malin appointed his Saneyir. The Saneyir of Malin is his courier, his messenger, his eyes and ears, and a trusted advisor. On Malin’s court, the Saneyir is responsible for advising Malin on the unity of his realm - reporting to him on fractures, squabbles, and to act as his regent between Princes. The Saneyir commands nothing and is in charge of no realm and holds the peculiar responsibility to both preserve the throne of Malin, to speak on his behalf, but to never be so bold as to claim the regality of the King. The Saneyir is therefore both powerless and powerful, depending on the context in which they are acting. The Saneyir is one of the few members of the Court who holds the responsibility to walk amongst the people and proclaim Malin’s will to aid all Elves in understanding the ephemeral and obscure decisions of the council. Few Elves will appear directly before the court, and thus the Saneyir acts as an intermediary for Malin’s Court and the rest of Elvendom. When the Princes squabble amongst each other, the Saneyir is the first agent of the court sent to attempt to mediate between them. As the Saneyir is present amongst the Elven people, it is improper to give them veneration - instead the Saneyir works to ensure that the people’s venerations are brought to the court or whispered directly into Malin’s ears. The Saneyir is given the triune blessing of all three Princess’ and may evoke any of their powers temporarily to restore order. The Saneyir must be blessed by the Arcane, the Aspects, and the Ancestral spirits and anointed by Malin to prove their authority. As authored by saneyir of the Malin’onn In the era of fi’Malin’or This work is considered to be one of the three authentic texts of the Malin'Naeri ( Order of Malin )inspired by Malin’s Will. The remaining authentic texts may be found within the temple libraries. The Way of Malin and his Teachings: Part I The Way of Malin and the Five Instructions: Part II .
  11. *The letter would bear no seal, delivered in rather ordinary parchment - brought privately to the Vuiller family residence. It has no return address to be delivered. The script, however, bore the old writing of a well-practiced hand. It has a simple phrase written on the envelope - Aquilarum amicus* "sirame ito kae'leh, nae oroment, llir'Malinor and dear friends of House Melphestaus, I am the Elf known as Minuvas, one of perhaps only a handful of those living who can call truly call themselves Imperial. Rev Vuiller was one such soul to have been a part of this circle of friends, until his recent passing. I have received the tragic news of Rev, a compassionate Valah to whom I knew as friend for much of his youth and mine own. I do not know if he spoke much of me, for we parted our own ways at the time of the brother's war - ourselves victims of the tragic warring of Novellen children. What I will tell you is that your Patriarch was a rare breed of man - so few have I met in my time whose ambitions do not eclipse the nation in which they serve. He was a kind and dutiful soul and he took to his patriotic suffering privately, as any diligent statesmen in the upper echelons of power should. He was no politician, to call him such would be an insult; He was a Statesmen, a father, a pious man. As ArchChancellor of the Empire, I knew Rev had a remarkable ability as an advisor to be trusted - a rare trait not only of men, but of elven kind as well. There are no statues of Rev Vuiller, no vainglorious monuments of self-congratulations as you will see of the Elven Princes and Princess' in the realms I walk now - but no such monuments to ego would please your Patriarch. I dare say you should deny any such statues in his honor, for Rev lived for his countrymen - and would see honors awarded to none but the people to which he served. Destiny saw fit to place no crown upon his head, for we both knew that the nation must outlive the man. I knew him to have a heavy heart following the death of Emperor Philip II, yet together we served admirably in the following years during the reign of Philip's grandson. We were loyal servants to our country and neither of us could muster to speak ill will against her, yet I knew he was unhappy with the state of Imperial affairs later in his life - and I so wish we had talked of them more. Had we known what would have become of the nation, perhaps we would have. I hope, and believe, he found some measure of happiness later in his life in his restoration of the goodness of man in Balian. The Heart of the Valah kindles once more in Balian, and this is in no small effort due to Rev Vuiller - for he brought men together, he did not sunder them apart. So many seek to destroy, for it is easy - so few seek to build, for it is so hard. Let it be said that Rev endured to build, to create, to restore and to bring life. Save perhaps the late Princess and ArchChancellor Josephine Augusta, there is no Valah I would consider having been a closer friend in my first century of life than Rev Vuiller. and cannot express my unhappiness to know of his passing, and though I no longer believe in the Valah God - I do hope that your strong canonist faith and your family saints, carry you to a place of contentment and happiness. If there truly are blessed skies, I ask that Malin intercede and ensure that Rev has reached the seventh of them - for he is surely deserving. Minuvas"
  12. A certain Elven Lord looks to the summons "I shall be there..." Maelgar remarks to one of the Melphestaus family clerks.
  13. Minuvas would curl his hands around the report, curiously rubbing his chin "It is good to see Malin'onn interested in the realm of men. Let us hope they don't murder the traveling Mali". He would then motion to an Elven disciple who would hurriedly bring over a large tome "Let us consult the tenets..."
  14. Minuvas would remark to his brother "The finest of things, to have your sun set on your own terms. Perhaps we may both enjoy a period of respite?" Maelgar would remark from Balian "Ah..my boys....they bringen maximus honorifica to this familia. Hierakoles will let me rest in his villa now"

Establish and promote the veneration of St. Pius of Sutica, ensuring a shrine is prominent in any famili properties. An artistic depiction of Luciana in her ‘lost years.’ Brief Biography of Luciana Livarai De Melphestaus Luciana’s family background stretch back to Ephesius and, later, Ebonwood, the Principality of the House in Oren under the reign of Phillip III. She is believed to have split her time between her mother’s vineyard in the Principality, the family apartments in Yong Ping, and the Melphestaus family villa, where she received tutoring in politics, language, art, and trade. She was well-educated on the native culture of the mali’ker people as well as her Imperial birthplace. In an unfortunate turn of fate, the young Melphestaus was residing in Yong Ping at the time of its ultimate destruction, from which point on she was separated from her mother. It is thought she likely spent the rest of her upbringing as the ward of various scholarly institutions. Upon reaching maturity, Luciana established contact with Maelgar Melphestaus, to whom she expressed her interests in reconnecting with and continuing the legacy of her maternal House. She was shortly established in Balian at her current position, where she presently resides refining her arts and guiding her Branch. Selected for her guile, intelligence, and her youthful elven energy the House places great hopes in the prosperity and fortunes of Luciana in leading the family in the southron realms of men. 16. SERVUS SUMUS | ALWAYS I SERVE The Princely Imperial House of Melphestaus Patron Saint: St. Pius of Sutica The City Elves of Almaris Origins House Melphestaus traces its origins to the first Kingdom of Malin’or, the ancestral head of the family having lived in the time of Malin. History records very little of the family at this time other than that they would eventually depart Malin’or to live with the other Mali’Aheral who departed the ancient Kingdom. However, the family head never bought into ideas of racial purity or the superiority of the Mali’Aheral race and within the family archives remains the original banishment decree of the family from Haelun’or - one which would not be lifted until almost eight centuries later. During this time the family head, Diamatus Melphestaus, would take the family to the Dominion of Malin - where he would go on to sire a single son, Maelgar Melphestaus, and begin a tradition that continues to this day. Adopting a Mali’Ker, to whom all descendants of this line affix Livarai to their name and a Mali’Ame to which all descendants of this line affix Daemyar to the surname Melphestaus. Upon his passing, Maelgar would become the family head during the family’s time in the Dominion - when the most important event in the family’s history would occur. Godfrey of great human historical account conquered the globe, subjugating all peoples to his banner. Maelgar, like many Elven seeds, clans and houses at this time bent the knee to this human Emperor. Loyalists, Maelgar determined that the age of Elves had passed - the age of men had come upon descendant kind. Rather than fight this current, the family has endeavored since this time to be committed to the betterment of Human kind, serving as the immortal link of their short lives between their ancestors. They have spent the bulk of their time living in the Empire of Oren, but a Melphestaus can be found in almost all Human realms - embracing them as friends, and serving as loyal mentors and comrades. The family maintains its Imperial nobility, stylizing themselves as Lords and Ladies - with the family head stylized as a Prince. In addition among its long list of honors, the family has held three knighthoods within the Church of Canon, produced at least two Canonist Priests, produced no less than fifteen written books, holds numerous villas and properties across Almaris, and has produced a Princely cadet house in the last one hundred years. Notable Family Members Diamatus Melphestaus. Pater Familia (900 - 1230) The Eldest Melphestaus is long in the grave but paved the way for the structure of the family today. Ensuring a singular family head and removing barriers between blood and adopted relatives - all Melphestaus’ were considered of equal lineage. Elven by all standards he spoke the language fluently and had many rivals within High Elven for his non-traditional thinking on other elven races and the mixing of elven sub-races. His greatest contribution to the family was the strong written tradition he imbued on his children. Maelgar Melphestaus. Pater Familia (1230 - 1776, 1876 - Current) The still living Maelgar served as the Pater Familia, or head of family, for almost five centuries. A talented scientist and clerk, he was misplaced for his time. He ushered the family to safety from numerous Haelun’or raiding parties attempting to return them for punishment, and protected them from dangerous bands of White Rose human supremacists who had a penchant for elven violence. Despite all this, Maelgar still found the time to rise within the middling ranks of the Imperial Bureaucracy - finding him and his family stable pay and a small level of influence within Imperial circles. He would sire three children over 500 years, Minuvas, Thucydides, and Aeyla and later adopting Hieran as a young boy. He would make numerous contributions to the family before falling to a bout of madness at the death of his wife. To include working on the Thanium Bomb in the city of Johannesberg, and formalizing a dialect of language in use by many City Elves often erroneously called ‘Imperial Elven’ - but which simplified the language and made it relevant to those elves who live in human cities. Before passing the head of the household to his son Minuvas, he ensured great wealth and patrician status for the House - though did not share it with his sons until much later in life. He was once again made the family head in 1876, as Minuvas was dispatched to deal with Elven issues for the family. Minuvas Melphestaus. Pater Familia (1776 - 1876) Minuvas has served as the family head for the last century, propelling the family from wealthy House to great heights of power and nobility in human circles. Luck would place Minuvas in the right place at the right time - having found a patron of the Imperial family, Princess Josephine Augusta, who would sponsor the young Minuvas through the upper echelons of Imperial society. Through his connections and hard work, Minuvas would achieve unimaginable stations of power that his family would have thought impossible a century earlier - he remains the only Elf to ever have held the Imperial Vice-Chancellery and ArchChancellery. He would also elevate the family to nobility, making the Melphestaus family a line of Imperial Princes, without claim to the Imperial throne, - a title Minuvas still holds. Minuvas used his position to advance the rights of Elves across all of Almaris, he ended the practice of ear clipping in Oren, mustered Orenian armies to defend his Dark Elf cousins in Urguan, and enshrined equality of the law for all Elves in Oren during his time. He would even gather and found a city of Imperial Elves, called Ephesius, and expanded this into a full Princedom which encompassed hundreds of Elves from across human lands - providing them a safe haven from the human provocations and racism of the time. Further, the family added two cadet branches - one which was also elevated to Princely nobility under Minuvas’ stewardship. For all this effort, however, he remained highly unpopular in many of the inner circles of Elven society who saw him as a threat to their ancient and storied past. During the Orenian Civil war, known as the brothers war, the Prince-Royarch of Elvenesse ambushed Minuvas and placed him into a severe coma - nearly ending his life. With the fall of the Imperial Crown, it became open season on the city elves of the Empire - who were hunted mercilessly without Minuvas’ protection. The rivalry between Minuvas and Kosher Daesmon is rumored to continue to this day, Minuvas having not forgiven Kosher for contributing to the merciless bleeding of hundreds of Elves in what is known in Imperial Elven circles as the “Elvendom Massacre”. Due to his coma, and events that have drawn him to build bridges with the Elven community - Minuvas has grown absent from the family, and whether he remains the head of the family is not clearly understood. He has sired no children. Hieran Livarai De Melphestaus If there were any Melphestaus to rival the titan that was Minuvas, it would be his older brother Hieran. While Hieran never held formal leadership of the family, his explicit diplomatic and martial talent made him an invaluable partner to his brother, Minuvas. There is no story of Minuvas without Hieran. Equal to the meteoric rise of his brother, Hieran would be named the first elven General of the Imperial State Army and later as the Lord-Marshall of Haense. Contributing significantly to the family’s prestige, Hieran expanded the family’s holdings and wealth tenfold. Of notably less rhetoric and open conflict than his younger brother Minuvas, Hieran has long served as a voice of reason to the family - quietly contributing to the family. Hieran has received numerous military distinctions from many human nations throughout Almaris and he is considered one of the most respected members of the family. He is known in the family, however, as a somewhat absent father. Despite this, his many children have all relied on him at some point in their lives. Among his other more obscure honors is his Knighthood within the Church of Canon. Thucydides Melphestaus Youngest of the three brothers, Thucydides grew up without the warming education of their mother. Arrogant, ambitious, and manipulative - Thucydides often undermined the larger efforts of the family for his own personal gain. He did, however, bring prestige to the family through his involvement in Imperial Politics - serving as the first elven President of the Imperial Diet, where he frequently and vivaciously debated with Imperial nobility. He earned a great deal of enemies for the family, his brothers often preventing larger violence due to Thucydides actions. He was known to dabble extensively in the arcane, and often disdained the humans for which the family had sought to advise and protect. Thucydides secretly married a Sarkozy and sired a Half-Elf child, briefly being banished from Oren until his brother could convince the Emperor to rescind the decree. The whereabouts of his Human wife and his half-elf child remain a mystery today. For all this troubles, Thucydides had the scientific mind of his father - and amassed a great deal of magic artificery and knowledge. His last known whereabouts are unknown. Main Line Branches House Melphestaus maintains branches of its family across Almaris. Each local family is led by a Patriarch or Matriarch who has relative autonomy to lead the family within their region as they see fit. The Patriarch/Matriarch of the Imperial line is also the head of the entire family. These branches are competitive by nature, supporting local government interests and trying to compete with other branches for the attention of the overall Pater Familis for money, prestige, support and potentially the right to lead the entire family. The entire family will meet frequently, once every few months, for the family to boast of its accomplishments and speak of its honors. Current recognized branches of the family. Imperial Line (Princely) Balian Line Haenseti Line Cadet Houses Cadet houses can trace their line back to the main line of Melphestaus, contributing to their prestige and honor. Unlike members of the main house, however, they no longer require approval for marriages, have no inheritance to the main line, their property and holdings do not belong to the main line. They generally adopt their own distinct rites, moores, rituals and mannerisms. Princely Clan of Ri’karth De Melphestaus Clan Ri’karth and House Melphestaus were joined by marriage in the time of Stygian Hollow. Zirath R’ikarth and Minuvas Melphestaus allowed the families to form their own Clan, absent from control of either Zirath or Minuvas, and authorized them to adopt their own clan banner. Princess Aver’wyn Ri’karth De Melphestaus was the most notable member of the family. When a member of Clan Ireheart threatened to cut the Princesses ears off, Minuvas rallied Imperial forces to a many years war against the Dwarves. While this ultimately led after almost a decade of fighting to an Imperial defeat, Minuvas reinforced to his family the level of commitment he would ensure to protect them. Seed Arvellon De Melphestaus Formed at the request of Wynanya Daemyar De Melphestaus, the seed lives primarily in the Vale. It carries its own unique traditions and mannerisms and holdings separate from the main house. Its household practices are the most divergent from the main house. Mali’ame of this branch do not necessarily share one name, as per the wood elven custom of joining a seed, or chosen family, which aligns with the interests and values of an individual. There are, however, collective expectations for this branch, as per Wynanya Arvellon de Melphestaus. Each member of the branch must reside in Nevaehlen, where they will learn Wood Elven customs and abide by the Vale’s laws -- which includes surrendering all allegiences to other nations. Mali’ame of this branch may keep their prior cadet name until their full initiation into a seed, at which point their seed name usurps the previous; such as a Daemyar de Melphestaus becoming an Arvellon de Melphestaus. Seed names are also not always inherited; this branch therefore has a particularly wide variety of cadet names depending on parentage and birthright. The Seeds de Melphestaus thus have dual and equal loyalty to their two families. Should the interests of their Seed and the House conflict, it is expected the individual will act in accordance with the customs of the mali’ame as a whole. NOTE: THIS LORE IS NOT COMMON KNOWLEDGE TO ANYONE WHO IS NOT A MELPHESTAUS

  19. @Xarkly As a long time Dungeon Master , I am a big supporter of this. Players certainly can drive a story, but they inevitably don't have access to the sorts of 'mechanics' and tools that Game Dev does that can do things that kind of suspend reality in ways that create enjoyment for the player base. When I ran a small roleplay server as the Head Dungeon Master, I was responsible for developing an over-arching Long term storyline that would span years while the sub-DMs developed episodic "chapters" that might last a single map/season, and then a team of actors/NPCs helped bring these stories to life. Often we assigned different DMs to each of the 'factions' on the map, and then met frequently to make sure events were not biasing any one group. In addition, the DMs were not allowed to play - their purpose was to be DMs, NPCs, Actors and storytellers. I believe in one such storyline the DMs were represented by 8 powerful Archmages that lived in some tower who would sometimes 'descend' into the realm but we had competing interests, akin to the Greek pantheon. We got to have fun as all powerful Archmages, but our purpose was to drive a story - not force lightning people. However, it created a sense of wonder and power for the players. To address some previous players concerns, about 'impact' our team often developed branches to every story plan. A 'player success' outcome, and a 'player failure' outcome to ensure the story had weight. This ensured players felt there was consequence and that defeat was an option. I believe in one of the concluding seasons, the failure of the players resulted in a perma death PK for all current characters - and that all players had to re-roll new characters.
  20. The Elf would smile warmly at the map, despite misnaming the territory of the Ebonwood, of which he once ruled. A Malinist monk would eventually comment "An unusual sign of emotion for you Saneyir, something of this Valah cloth brings you joy?" Minuvas let out an elongated and deep breath "A past that once brought joy, but now is only a reminder of Valah betrayal. Let us not let emotions guide us this day, let us clear our mind of the past". He would eventually take the map, placing it into a pile of curios . Standing, once more taking on a balanced mountain pose before returning to his routine, leading the small gathering of the other Elves with him "Deep breaths, center yourself...let us think on the instructions...."
  21. A White-Robed Elf receives the missive, commenting to the disciples about him "Of course, I shall be there to see the High Prince address fi'Malin'or."
  22. "Larihei...a blessed being. Does this suppose her creator was of even greater Divinity? Perhaps the old Maheral has uncovered a revelation of Malin....or something else entirely. " Minuvas would stroke his chin, reading with curiosity what Braxus wrote.
  23. A letter is written to @CharmingCavalier, Henry Pentron. "Master Penton, A well written work. Valah passion is evident in your recounting, of which we shared a great deal. I recall my time as Princess Josephine's confidant and student as her time as Archchancellor, and later as her successor as some as the most trialing in my life. I look forward to your work on Archchancellors, do not hesitate to write. ~Minuvas"
  24. "The beauty of children of Malin and their thoughts on the world never cease to amaze me. I would love to hear this writer speak to me privately" He gestures to a courtier in the Palace "See if you can find them near amathea"
  25. Received the copy on his desk "Ah. My niece has a way with such words. I wonder if she got it from Hieran or Zirath..." he wonders aloud from his tree palace.
