  1. [!] Would read over the missive, "I can't tell if we were invited or not." Minuvas would look at his councilors, as they attempted to discern the invitation. "Let's just presume the Fenn haven't updated their address roster...or felt by inviting the Empire, we were invited. Let's send a representative" He would finally remark
  2. Would rub his chin, receiving the missive from Luthriel. He would curiously wonder the girls thoughts.
  3. Zill sorry our characters only met recently. Enjoy life brother.
  4. "Well written. Our Fathers gift for intellect was not lost here. A first for Elfdom to gather in such numbers, but surely... hopefully....not the last" Remarks Minuvas, neatly saving the missive for the Ebonwood artifact repository.
  5. The High Elf would stir, thinking carefully on all this. The Conclave, perhaps, he may listen with his people and try to discern what might Malin's will on this subject be.
  6. "It is a most excellent looking armor. May our kin be safe from whatever brings them harm" Would remark Minuvas upon seeing a sketch of the design.
  7. Minuvas would see the missive with interest. He would ponder the events for some time, before taking his quill to parchment.
  8. Minuvas would chew on apple, the loud crunch echoing within his estate, at his desk, when a courier would lay the missive on his desk. "Hmm..." He would remark after reading the document, "Most curious"
  9. Amiran of Almaris, Some time ago my people had attempted to appropriate a druidic right in a way that was inappropriate. This was brought to my attention, violently at first, and then by the wisdom of my younger kin who has taken to learning the ways of the Druii. I wholly apologize and profess the wrongness of these acts. Let me declare in no uncertain terms that this act was wrong, even if borne of ignorance. Further, it pleases me to have shared a hope of better understanding and future of the ways of the Druii and those Elves of the Imperial realm and we look forward to wisdom, guidance, and the respect of the natural world. Servus, Minuvas Melphestaus
  10. Offers a simple response: "Elsil. I don't know what nonsense you're on about, and neither does our family. If you wish to try and steal children from families by kidnapping them, you should turn yourself into the law - not turn yourself into some kind of thief adoption center. Approach my god child after stating your clear intent to steal the young Mali and you shall be put down with extreme prejudice. Do not write back, I have no desire to read anything from you further. Do not contact my niece either. -M
  11. A rather generous recovery of the antiquities of Elfkind. Minuvas would wonder who these folks were from his desk, scratching at his chin.
  12. The Archchancellor would cradle his hands, imagining he was staring down the Haense Lord-Chancellor across Almaris. Wondering whose coffers would break first..... I wouldn't bet against the Archchancellor, and the thrifty taxwork of Sir Henry Penton @CharmingCavalier
  13. "The Koengzem is hurt by truth put to power, it would seem. I am not the one who summoned the Duma to discuss how to remove the Church from the heart of my government, largely considered a discussion on how to neuter the influence of faith on the decisions of its own body politik. These are not accusations, these are edicts proclaimed by the mouth of this King. Nor is my nation that beckons to fight alongside Pagans in the defense of their assaults on Canonist Priests. These are not fabricated incidents, they are truths. Unlike the remainder of the hyperbole in this missive - we do believe the Field Marshall to be a worthy combatant leader, and we shall not underestimate his abilities. Are they ashamed of being opportunists? This is the make of all nations - to advance the cause of ones own people; I do not hide or lie about it, but I shall certainly call it out when it is so naked and so blatantly wrapped in the language of a sovereign. I was not born into my position like the good King, I had to earn where I am - and it very clearly shows. I wish them an honorable fight; I'll not send the King such distasteful letters as his own people write me in their gnashing anger to be called out for their crimes and heathen behavior. An old Oyashiman mentor told me that anger is often a mask for fear. Nor will I sit idly by if I see his people being tortured or denied last rights, I shall ensure they are treated fairly as a decent gentlemen and canonist should do. I shall not forget the mockery the King paid upon Princess Josephine, who wished only to discuss why you marched a guard force on an Imperial peer, because he had discovered some ancient elven blood in your line. You were not sitting so idle then. But my memory is long good King, and though I do not hold grudges like a Dwarf - I have certainly not forgotten the mistreatment you showed such a noble soul. You will never find me celebrating the torture of my enemy or competitor; for I have a shred of dignity and dedication to the term 'Canonist'. I wish the King were not so idle in punishing his citizens for celebrating the death of others, and rejoicing in pagan torture. I shall need to confess my sins and perhaps his as well at the confessional this eve! I pray the Kongzem return peacefully to their home; not in caskets draped with Haense flags, as they are want to do should they meet the marching wave of Imperial forces and that this incident will once again be put behind us, towards a united and common Canondom and Humanity that stands with each other to destiny. " Remarks to an Elven attendant in frustration "Valah are so fickle, they will all kill each other over the most short-term slights. Where did we lead them wrong?"
  14. Did not receive this missive, because he was not a recipient of who it was addressed - though in another cosmic life, he might convey that is well written.
  15. The Archchancellor had many missives of hate, misinformation and disgust arrive in his office these past few days. But this struck him at the very core of his identity. 'What did I do to deserve torture or death in the eyes of Braxus and his flock? I did nothing. By no fault of my own, my parents conceived me ... ' It wasn't letters from Haense, or angry complaints about bad piping, or some other matter that would sting him this day, but the cry of a Half-Elf named Luthriel.
  16. I recognize what you ask the Emperor to do, good Walton. I will not speak for him, but we advocate for the thousands of Canonists casted from the faith - we will speak for them. Tend to the flock, or let it become stray! Minuvas would retort to the Man.
  17. Brothers in faith, Today I write you not as Archchancellor of Oren, but as a devout Canonist of 80 years whose family has Priests and Knights of the Exalted Order of St. Owyn numerous in your ranks. Though I don't feel the need to exclaim my bona fides of faith at length, I have studied and practiced the scrolls longer than perhaps the most ancient of your human clergy, I do hope you see that there is nearly a century of action that come with these words. I write today on our quarreling brothers of Canonism, our forever August Emperor and the Holy Father the Pontiff. My predecessor, Princess Josephine Augusta, a Monsignora of incredible wit and writing would address this matter better than I am likely to; I do wish she was still among the living and I ask a small prayer for her in the seven skies upon receiving this letter. IAs for the matter of the day. I carry great concern that nearly the entire Canonist realm lives in excommunication, the body of Canon has been fully severed by its head. While I have no doubt the actions of lately have shocked the Church, rightfully so, I ask them to reconsider the very real punishment they have inflicted on GODs realm; it's largest princedom is severed from the sanctifying of the Church. I cannot help but feel that ibleese rejoices at this sorrow. For each month that passes without the light of Canon, the vast majority of man is disconnected from his clergy and thus - further from the skies. He begins to wonder, do I need the Church? The vast majority of the clergy is without a flock to tend to, there is only so long we believe they can give service to themselves the few Churches in Haense. The Kingdom of Haense, not but a saints week ago was deciding how to cast the Church from it's very halls, how valiant of them to have a change of faith. Even now, Orenian blood is being spilled across Almaris in retribution against the Dwarves for attacking the clergy. Shall the new Fidei Defensor join us in this defense against the Dwed pagans? We pray their faithful nation wears this mantle with the responsibility it entails. Tell me my brothers in faith, have you found a savior - or an opportunist who has opened it's arms at the sight of two quarreling brothers? We know the answer to this question; the fate of Canondom is intertwined with it faithful nation, Orenia, and this state of affairs is temporary - and we should seek mutually to see it put to the past. Though we do believe, given that the entire citizenry of Orenia and it's leaders have humbled themselves - has the punishment become excessive? While we cannot justify the singular action of recent, let us work to do no more harm between us - for a near century of cooperation has brought us closer than ever. Each family dedicates it's life to the saints, Bishops and Priests sit in our government halls of power, and Oren has advanced the scholarly understanding of the faith through the efforts of the Society for over a decade. There is no nation that loves the Church than Orenia, we ask the Church to love us back - we ask it to convey to the pontiff to lift the excessive excommunication that has been placed on near 80% of the Canonist realm. In Faith and Service, Minuvas Melphestaus
  18. FROM THE OFFICE OF THE MELPHESTAUS CHANCELLERY APPOINTMENT, TRANSITION, AND CONFLICT WITH THE DWARVES AT THE COMMAND OF HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY… We make the following announcements at the command of His Imperial Majesty. The Crown makes the following appointments and declarations. Olivier Renault, the Prince Emeritus of Savoy, as the Vice-Chancellor. Minuvas Melphaestus, to remain as the Archchancellor. The Emperor has commanded, “That Our Chancellery consider the word of God and the continued fostering of brotherhood between the people of Savoy and Oren in all their projects and the administration of Our Government, as We entrust them to act on Our behalf.” ON CROWNLAND-SAVOY RELATIONS As Archchancellor, I am directing our newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, His Imperial Excellency Olivier Renault, to serve as the principal agent towards finalizing a formal agreement of the relationship between Savoy and the central Crownland government of Oren. The great Council of State, is directed to support the Vice-Chancellor in coordinating with the Prince of Savoy and his council in order to advise the Prince of Savoy and His Imperial Excellency on an agreeable instrument of treaty between our people. The Vice-Chancellor is further entrusted to ensure that the people of Savoy are represented on the great Council of State, and those agencies within the Government of Oren to ensure that their interests are represented to His Imperial Majesty. He is fully vested and capable of making these appointments as appropriate without further approval. ON MILITARY AFFAIRS Further, I make the following announcement in regards to military affairs. General Erik Var Ruthern is to be elevated to the ad-hoc position of “Field Marshal of the Empire” and shall work with and coordinate all military forces, allied, mercenary, and the ISA until such time as hostilities with the Dwarves have ceased. Upon conclusion of hostilities, he shall return to his peacetime rank of General of the ISA. It is our Government’s request that the senior military officer of Savoy, with the consent of their Prince, begin coordinating directly with Field Marshal Ruthern so that we may inflict maximum harm to our enemies, and maximum security within our homelands. May GOD save us The EMPEROR protect us His Imperial Excellency The Archchancellor Minuvas Melphestaus
  19. "Let us see to it the Church does not leave 80% of its flock in excommunication for very long, while it has fallen into the bosom it Haense - who only last saints hear wanted to remove the Church from her life. Would hate to see if the people of our most Holy Orenian Empire figure out how to live, absent her Church, because the Holy Father wishes to dispute much further with his brother, the Emperor" Would remark Minuvas, curiosly wondering aloud if the Clergy will just sit idly in Karosgrad while pious Orenians looked for services. They must be rather...bored. He thought.
  20. FROM THE OFFICE OF THE MELPHESTAUS CHANCELLERY ON RECOGNITION OF FAITH & THE DECEPTION OF IBLEESE NOTICE TO ALL CITIZENS OF THE EMPIRE AND THE CANONIST REALM The Forces of iblees seek constantly to divide, not unify, the realm of his most Holy Church, his Empire, and the descendant realm from its communion with GOD. The Government of Orenia, under my Chancellery knows no Emperor but one Emperor, and knows no faith but one faith, and knows no vicar but his one true vicar: The Holy Pontiff Everard VI. It is important to provide transparency where it is due. This Government was given false information that the Holy Pontiff, His Holiness Everard VI, had engaged in an attempt to schism the faith - the forgery of documents, missives, and pronouncements was real enough to deceive the brightest legal and canonist scholars within the Government. We know now, in hindsight, this information to be false and that our Empire and Emperor have been deceived and we, the Government and my Chancellery, admit fault in being unable to see through these lies and advised our Emperor unwisely; we ask repentence from His Holiness in this regard. This Government of Orenia Declares in no uncertain terms: o High Pontiff, Everard VI, is the true Pontiff of the one true faith of Canondom. o Michael I is to be declared persona non-grata in all Imperial territories; and surrendered to the Church of Canon for judgment. o The individual known as Vilar Antonius Joren, the agent who provided these false missives and decrees is to be arrested and trialed in our Empire for apostasy against the true faith. We pray for forgiveness from the Holy Father and ask his re-dress in this issue. All Government employees are hereby directed to attend mandatory confession to request penance in this matter and I accept full responsibility for believing this deception as this Government's Archchancellor. Any statement from the Crown in this matter was informed by these lies to which my Government had advised him on its truth, and thus - the Government bares sole responsibility. His Imperial Excellency The Arch Chancellor Minuvas Melphestaus
  21. The Archchancellor looked at the Lorraine cross on his desk, a silver Lorraine cross would dangle from his Imperial doublet, he would curl his hands together upon reading the missive. The Elf would be seen about the basilica, in the confessional, and making his prayers that day. If anyone asked him about the subject at hand, he would state the Chancellery would have no statement to make this time, and that it is is drafting its directions to the Government.
  22. The loud grumbling sounds of an Elven Archchancellor could be heard from within the Central Government building. A flurry of letters went in and out of the window in a continuous stream.
  23. Minuvas would see the new butler about the estate during his morning tea "Welcome Mister Tian, Chadwick shall get you up to speed right away. Please fetch the carriage, it is a long ride to the Chancellery from Ephesius..."
  24. Ignored what the Dwarf King wrote, as it was written by someone from a position of weakness and fear. Minuvas knew there was blood in the water, and the sharks were all converging soon.
  25. Minuvas would lean back in his seat, amused by the missive, talking to himself - he has gone quite mad as of lately - "We shall see what the future holds, certainly"
