  1. Discord is OOC.

    Meta.

Let's remember that before you ask somebody in VC where I am so you can come kill me.

That's literally OOC rallying, and I'm reporting you for it next time.

  2. Them spamming Malfame because it actually affects you, unlike death.
    Malflame sticks THROUGH death.
If that's the case, why not make death have a consequence?

That would fix a LOT of the issues with the server. People would be less likely to act how they often do if death actually meant nothing, instead of shrugging it off and getting back to your trolling the next day. XD

A majority of people treat death and killing as the only response to pretty much every negative interaction. Irregardless of persona morality. Someone will give a homeless child kindness- turn around then beat the nearest 20 year old bandit to death without a blink of the eye. The solution to a lot of the issues would be if more people, strangely enough, act as the demons on the server operate mechanically. A majority of the time leaving a victim or loser of a fight alive. I’m not talking about ‘oh you don’t have to d20’ I mean irp not killing someone. It provides ample opportunity for growth and character development. More roleplay. A greater story. Why are prisons a thing if everyone who goes in them gets pulled out and beheaded a few minutes later? Why do laws and justice systems exist when death, killing and looting is the priority for every almost every major descendant faction?

Aka, don’t fix death system. Fix killing system.

THIS!!! THIS RIGHT HERE!!! Why everyone rp as psychopaths? I mean... I guess it's cool that there's psychopath characters but why like a 80% more like... Don't even BLINK at taking someone's life or torturing? It's really weird (also boring, killing as only solution to any conflict is LAAAAAAAAME).

Malflame does not persist through death unless you are using lore respawns systems.

in general if you monk revival, you don’t retain the wounds/memories of ALL events leading up to and including your death.

    Don't lie to me.

Based Bacon, based. Please stop lying oocly. It's weird! If you messed up, admit you messed up! Like, for instance, I don't make the best calls and sometimes I misremember things, and I acknowledge that, but woah! Revisionist history is crazy sometimes!

And this honestly is even less so about things that have happened to me. I've been watching people lie to each other for ages. WHY DO WE DO THIS?!

  4. I have problems with VIP levels getting more Shop Spaces, as that means you can burn real money to make far more Mina.

I also don't agree with the Bank Fees, as it will eventually get to a point where even voting every day isn't enough.

Both of those should be fixed/removed entirely.

i think the other point relies more on what you sell, the audience you're selling to, and advertisement. i have 4 shop slots, and have had 4 shops. only one is ever continually bought from and the other three would dig a hole in my pocket until it was packed up.

sure, there's potential, but it's not promised.

  5. Man ... I could SWEAR this server was about having fun.
How is it fun for you to lie to people OOCly?
How is it fun to use people IRL to get ahead in a videogame?

You might feel big and important on the server, but, I know you're sad IRL.

I just spent all night talking with a large group of players who are getting sick of the way people treat each other here, and being around as long as I have, I'm inclined to agree with them.

The only thing I could suggest to them was simply avoiding the people and places they didn't like, or simply taking a long break from the server.

YOUR fun isn't the only one that matters, you aren't the main character of every story, and you don't need to be involved in everybody else's business.

  6. The Ir lass turned Altwegg had been preparing for this move for a while, now. Waiting for it. Her husband had told her of a place she could finally call home, and now, it was time to call it so. "God is good t'us all, this day. Arya and Meili have always deserved such a thing as this, and now it comes t'pass ... and t'think, were it not for a chance encounter on a random road ... none of us would be here. God is good. Truly." Her next steps would be to pack up and make ready all of her tools and equipment stored securely around Avistra. It was time to store those same things in New Avistra. It was time to do God's work there.
  7. I just wish that more RP was done on the RP server, and less PvP. All war comes down to PvP. People with poor connections, or the inability to click quickly, will always be steamrolled by the dedicated PvP people. ...and if the RPers are unlucky enough to be the 'losers' of the war, everything they were working for in their towns is liable to get destroyed, changed, or overtaken by the new leadership. ...and ... much like before, people log on long enough to get enough time to participate in Warclaim, and then only show up for said Warclaim. It kind of removes the motivation to spend that much time and Mina on a tile, if somebody can WARCLAIM you, take you to PvP, and destroy you. ...or ... say you WANT to claim a tile, and somebody threatens to Warclaim OOCly just to stop you from claiming said tile O_O I'm here to write, and war on this server makes that kinda' hard.

It wouldn't be such a problem if people played characters that weren't immediately related to nobility/royalty.

It's always OOCly decided to ICly be born to these families, and mostly about keeping power within an OOC friend group, as I've seen since Veletz.

If the same 6 families are the only ones people are playing the children for, it's going to happen XD

All I'm saying is, I've seen /way/ too many ... family /vines/, and not so much family /trees/.

Be mad if you want, but, I didn't like Game of Thrones.
      ^_^

  10. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ru9Xl1Ny6C97KaMtK0S-wiG8D0Ma3ZQ9rWhMOlTVAmI/edit?usp=sharing I wrote this in-game, but was asked by a few people to make a post about it. Took screens of the book I wrote in-game. Here is that book.
  11. Maeryk was handed a copy by a friend seated on a bench in the Capitol's Square. "A coward who targets children..." furrow set into her brow as she struggled with a few of the words, Common not being her first language, "Clearly, they have no regard for the truly innocent." This was now the second time children had been targeted in these hit-pieces. Now, it wasn't just the Soldiery looking for the author.
  12. The Ir woman had spent a time in mourning over the loss of her friend. The discovery that his flirtations were a means to get her alone on a beach. Perhaps, then, she would be the injured, the wounded, and the cursed. Perhaps, she would have ended up missing, or worse. The letter written by the '''man''', in spite of his kind words, didn't mention her at all. Not a name, or a reference. Nothing... Surely, that was her value to him. A bitterness consumed her for weeks after the events in Avistra. Now, what consumed her was a singular target. A singular focus. One man-shaped-thing wasn't about to disappear quietly into the night. No. Medicae heal people. The Church redeems the lost. The Shamans seek answers from the Spirits. Mae wasn't any of those things. She wasn't going to heal, redeem, or seek answers. All she wanted from her former friend, anymore, was his head, on a pike, set alight, and the ashes falling as autumn leaves into a cesspool.
  13. Maeryk nods slowly as she reads it over. She'd always respected the Pontiff, and in their many meetings, came to trust his judgement in all things. A woman of God seldom questions the friggin' Pope. Her own home, land, family, and people had been taken by the Dark, and until recently, she'd relied entirely on defense. Preparing. Defending. Now, the time spent on all that preparation had paid off. It was time to speak with the Pontiff, again, only this time, it was about what she could offer his efforts.
  14. If Mae' ever gets the ability to teach anything like alchemy, or Kani, or Magic ... no meta will be involved beyond the apps on the forum.

    None.

...and I won't be making people wait 6 weeks for a class.

I've never been partial to how much Meta-gaming is required to play some races/creatures.

How much meta and a popularity contest is required for your characters to earn titles or lands.

It isn't about your writing, or your actions, it's about who you know OOCly, and which of them likes you.

Can't play a Construct unless you contact somebody OOCly about building you.

Same goes for a few others.

Same goes for learning most kinds of Magic.

My last Magic teacher ditched me ICly because they wanted their OOC girlfriend as an IC student instead.

Meta and favoritism ruined my last persona becoming a teacher of Fire Evocation.

It would be great if everything my character earned was done in-game, and not because I'm friends with somebody OOC.

I'm not OOC friends with a region owner/staff member, so none of my characters will be born 'noble'.

...and please ... don't get me started on Staff Members being Region Owners.

That is a clear conflict of interests and risks favoritism.

    ---

If you aren't part of a particular clique, your character(s) will never advance beyond 'peasant'.

Progress being dependent on what other people think of you ... isn't how any other game works, and entirely removed my motivation to try to progress.

I disagree with a lot here, and a lot seems unfounded(and also sort of not helping your case to call out people on the forums. You may have not mentioned their name, but anyone can scroll half an inch down and see who this fire evocation teacher you're referencing is).

Overall, you tend only to see these types of arguments and growing level of frustration in people that are rubbing communities the wrong way. I do not know you, but I do implore you to sit and first look at yourself. Are you overthinking things? Are you frustrated that maybe you're being abrasive OOCly without knowing it, and its causing people to shift away from you ICly? While technically meta, there is no universe or world in which peoples reactions like that go away. I'm not saying you are doing or being any one thing, only that the context of what I'm reading here is generally seen in such cases. A sort of outward pointing when one has grown frustrated at their inability to succeed in a given area and seeking out of something to blame, rather than inward reflection.

      That aside -

@PolarLoLs do better, don't be toxic. Like why?

Highly recommend trying some of the other races if you're feeling that kind of struggle from the communities you're in! Definitely not the case on other parts of the server

  15. "Oh lass, just a question. Have ye any idea who wrote this by chance?" he spoke, showing her what had been written. Maeryk looks it over, trying her best to translate some of the 'fancier' Common words into her native language, only catching about half of what all was written. Based on that alone, it was enough to make her shoulders tense. Anger. A rare thing for her to feel. Even more rare was for her to speak in public. "What ... bothers me 'bout this be the same that bothers me 'bout cloak'n'dagger sorts t'begin with. Unless ye mean t'stand by yon words, and do yon business in truth beneath the Light of God ... it be a waste." handing it back to him, and looking genuinely annoyed that the ink and paper had been put to waste, "Nae know, but they be cowardly, whoever." After a moment of silence, she turned her attention back to Urikk. "Speak truth, speak simply, and stand by your word, or be silent. That is the Truth of God."
  16. "Nowhere are the laws I drafted many years ago mentioned. I tried to bring peace, and was spat on..." Chono spoke, "My mercy is reserved for the victims of this inaction." looking up toward the gathering around the table, "It's a shame it took this long for somebody to offer real peace. I'm pleased it was Markus Sarkozic, but this shouldn't have fallen on his shoulders. Remember, he was a servant, same as I. He helped me /draft/ those laws. Fair laws. Just. If anybody is capable of bringing this place back into The Light, it's that man. It's Markus Sarkozic."
  17. Chono looked over the missive she was sent on the matter. Sitting on the felled tree as the light from the fire came through the back of the papyrus, her typically-worn smile had faded. Twenty years... for this? More than half of her life... for this? Her job was taken. Her respect was taken. Her safety and privacy were taken. Now, her home. Somber expression taking over her features, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Eyes opening slowly as she exhaled at the same rate, the luster in those emerald eyes was just... gone. Betrayal? Regret? Now was not the time for self-study. She had things to do. She had to inform her Sister. What came next would be left to The Creator, and her Ancestors.

    Don't be gross.

My skin is still crawling from the comments made yesterday.

  19. What followed would likely have made Ethan tell Chono that it was a fire-hazard. Every day for the next year, she would light a candle at the top floor of the tower she resided in, in memory of the man she admired for his honor and humor in the face of astounding odds. "He taught me how to laugh, and mean it."
  20. [MUSIC] She sat at the very top floor of a tower in Winburgh, shudders open to let in the night. In her collection was a total of 40 journals written over the last 20+ years of her service to Veletz as an entity. All written in cypher composed mostly of another language, these journals are meant to be the collective knowledge learned while 'outside'. These journals are to be returned to her people so they may learn, grow, evolve, and adapt to an everchanging world. Nomads by nature, the Kazakh are on the brink of extinction, sending their best and brightest to look for solutions. Knowledge. Information. "Juli'el" Chono is one such person. You see, the Order that raised and trained her sent her out into the world at a very young age. To humble themself before an outsider. To perform a 'great deed'. Then, and only then, were they allowed to return to their own people as an Honored Elder. They were only about 15 years of age when they arrived in Adria, proving themselves to Duke Sarkozic by training a corvid for him. The Duke and his wife, now Mother Oksana, had become something of parent figures to them. Both would later HEAVILY influence the Draft of Law for Veletz. These journals are not only on matters of conflict and war, though they are included. From Defending against a Dwarven Raid in Norland, to surviving hours-long cannon fire in Breakwater. Every battle with the forces of Deadmund. Every physical altercation, including the loss of her finger. These journals encompass many topics, though most would seem rather mundane to most. Medicine, economics, farming, politics. Every so often, one would come across an entry regarding her life, becoming more frequent as time went on. Updates on events, names, places, relationships. A running list of all the names she knew of the people she'd lost. People that meant something to her while she was in Veletz. Sir Hannibal's name was at the very top of that list. There was later a whole 3-page entry on how beautiful the garden in Winburgh keep is. Tonight, she was relearning to write with her left hand since the removal of that ring-finger. Lantern and a few candles lit, she sat on a small stool with a faint smile on her face, scratching characters away in another journal. The last entry was on the subject of loss and sacrifice. How a conflict shows people for who they truly are beneath the smiles and garments. I stand by this conclusion, having noticed this war turn some of my closest friends, those I believed would choose mercy, into blood-hunters. I do not blame them, or judge them. I care for them deeply. I simply wish more people would choose peace. The one I have come to call Brother, the very man I serve, seems to be the only one who sees the benefit of mercy. Peace. His voice is the only one most listen to, despite his efforts to change this. He is a far more patient person than I. I see why his path lead him to this position. This entry is about love. True love. When I was young, Teacher Eigo told my class a story. I believed I understood it, before. I was so very wrong. With him? I understand. The story starts as all his stories did. In a fishing village. A Monk of our School walked to the docks of a fishing village and happened upon a fisherman who was whistling as he caught many fish that day. Very happy. A lot of bites. The Monk asks "Why do you do this?" The fisherman replied "I love fish." The Monk replied, "Do you truly? Why do you love fish?" "It is easy to catch, clean, cook, and eat when I am hungry." "If you love fish, why dig a hook into its face? Why remove it from its home? Change its form to suit you? Why should it sustain you if you love IT?" The fisherman was stunned. Stunned silent. He slowly began to release the fish, one by one, and asked the Monk to keep speaking. The Monk went on "If you truly loved even a single fish, you would feed it and give it safety. You would leave it with its people, and family. You love it for what it does for you... not because it is a fish." The fisherman then became this Monk's student. I lost my finger because I was loved for what I provided. I was pretty, and fun. I was entertaining, and safe. When I asked for something to be done for me, it was unthinkable. Now, I have asked that none be killed or harmed in my name, and... he heard me. Were it done for me, it would be done as I would do it. I would not travel to a stranger's home and butcher them while they sleep. No. When he claims to protect me, he truly does it, even when I am not present to behold his actions. All this by chance. I was prepared to accept defeat. Failure. I had forgotten myself. Thanks to him, I have remembered who and what I am. Is this what my Creator had in store for me? Is this what I've sacrificed for? Such high praise from such a kind man? He has taken the title of 'Min Khair' in accordance with the old ways. I have done the same for him. He means to take me as his wife, and I could not be happier. My heart sings his song. I hope we will share each others' company for many, many years to come. If all that returns are these journals, know that I see the path before me more clearly than I have ever, before. I understand now what it is I must do, and why. Thank you, Creator. Thank you, Teachers. ...and thank you, Min Khair.
  21. "Peace was always an option." Chono sets a few forms aside as they go through Steward Logs for Winburgh. "One cannot shake hands with a closed fist. I wish those who label me 'enemy' would see this."
  22. After the excommunication of their adoptive family from The Church, Chono wrote the Pontiff to demand excommunication themselves. Their personality, description, nature, clothing, disposition, and even their theme song was made to change with everything that has take place during the War. Still residing in Veletz, and still active in defending its undefended citizens, Chono's smile is now mostly missing. Their tone has become more reserved. They are now missing the ring-finger of their left hand, up to the middle knuckle.
  23. Juli'el Chono looks over the information, pleasant smile remaining on their face as they took in the information. "False..." spoken calmly to themselves at the first lie noted in this report. Chuckling softly to themselves after they'd finished reading it, they'd turn and leave the office without another word. This was no more hostile than The Church had been to them, personally, the entire time they were in Veletz. So... nothing has changed. Wonderful.
