  1. So far, I have PK'd to every single character death I've been inflicted with because I have been fortunate enough to have some decent narratives that ended with satisfying conclusions. Save for one, which I felt personally wasn't very good spirited roleplay so I just decided to roll my shoulders and move on with it because it was so incredibly low stakes I felt nothing would be gained or lost if I didn't kill off the character. (nothing was, in retrospect) I do my best to stick by the "if it's good roleplay I'll PK to it" clause. This isn't a strict policy of mine, it's just how I generally feel about it. This mindset will probably be a lot more loosey-goosey with my spook, though. Not for any reason, I'm not particularly attached to them because they have magic, I've played for two years without any magic at all and had about as much fun as I've had with magic. I think it's moreso that you are sort of expected to be killed often when you play the bad guy, and if every bad guy pk'd when they got killed in some gatehouse by a loyal town guard or jumped by inquisitors there'd be hardly any evil practitioners left for people to fight outside of ST events. Not sure yet, I haven't been killed on them so far but I'm sure there'll be a day. If it's good I'll probably still PK. My favorite PK death though is probably my first one, with Felix. Loyal peasant who rose to be a Viscount - who was also my first character. He died a pretty typical death of the loyal warrior archetype of fighting side-by-side with his brothers in arms. I rolled low in an ST event - got stabbed in the chest and thought: "Well he aint fuckin' walkin away from that", and so I killed him off.
  2. This is an excellent group of players who are the perfect blend of new-player friendly and competent enough to handle the workload that comes with leading a group of players without making it too serious. If you've ever been on the fence about playing a darkspawn but don't know how to break into the community, these are the people to do it with.
  3. In my opinion if you kill the god with the most wide-spread ability to purge curses, then the natural consequence is that magics with cursing spells become stronger as a result, as there are fewer magics out there who can combat them. It's a consequence of the roleplay and killing a god. I do think Heralds should get more love but I don't think that Azdrazi-adjacent magics should just gain paladin abilities to fill the niche. Anyways has anyone seen a white deer in their backyard recently?

  7. Corc isnt even worth it in a gamey sense level like 99% of the other magics and feats. By taking it, you're actively choosing to make things more difficult for yourself for very little gain. Yeah it buffs blood magic by making you more resistant to its downsides and you can live longer, but you can be outed by table salt, you know, that shit that everyone has. I'm not complaining ofcourse. I enjoy playing a vampire because I enjoy the culture it has in the community and I enjoy roleplaying with the people in it despite corc being a pretty mid feat on a mechanical level. I'm just saying that if Silitis are gone, and Corc is the only option to experience that sort of roleplay, would it really be so bad to actually require someone to need genuine evidence before they test you? All this amendment does is make the testing process much more of a commitment. There will be no more -cut, smoosh- roleplay. Now you have to stab someone. I think that's pretty fair.
  8. Depends, what's the murderer's credit score?
  9. I've had this idea that I get seven people together. We play as dwarves and just play dwarf fortress but in lotc. Then we seek to make a totally organic little settlement straight from the ground up with its own evolving dwarven themed culture, and we'll just see where it goes - to riches or ruin. Who'd be interested?

You have arrived. After a journey from the Mountainhome into the forbidding wilderness beyond, your harsh trek has finally ended. Nestled beneath a sheer cliff face overlooking the wilds, your party of seven is to make an outpost for the glory of the Kin and all of Urguan.

  11. As others have said, allow for some fun banter here and there. We should stop pretending this is a serious roleplaying server and be able to be friendly with our fellow players. Anon posting is largely innocent. If the mods took a second to read the post they'd be able to tell if it's a genuine well meaning rp post or just some run of the mill snide-poster trying to voice their ooc displeasure with something. Now, I must ask: What's the call on Seven-Skies posting? It's either a 50/50 of "X's ancestor greets them in the skies" or something similar (well-meaning rp that no one has an issue with) or just a way for someone who had a significant character who is now dead to use their clout to disagree or lend support to a current NL/popular figurehead's decisions. The latter - even if it is a multi paragraphed and well written post has always come off as really low brow to me and is clearly ooc motivated. Like cuz, you're in heaven why do you care if King Asshat II decided to do X or Y?

      Siegmund Weiss vs konan-thegn amv

  13. If no one is around to man your gates, please leave them open.

  14. "To live is to suffer. To exist, an injury." Siegmund sat in his study. That phrase was rather prevalent in his mind at the moment, for it was one of the last things he'd imparted unto Marus. The hour was late when he received the missive detailing the boorish knight's murder of his brother. He did not cry, nor did he feel much of anything. Relief, maybe. He understood perhaps more than most that Marus Weiss would die a man hated, for those of Mankind so easily forget their love of a person when they're reminded of their imperfections. Siegmund thought of that silly boy who stepped through the gates of Valdev all those years ago. He thought back to those simpler times when Siegmund came to love him as kin, teaching him how to read, play-fighting with him, all the things an older brother should do. Yet Marus more than any other was there for him. Through Siegmund's worst times, he'd only ever known Marus as someone who would give unto a total stranger his last crust of bread if they asked for it. Someone who could become best friends with anyone. Marus was a good man. Marus was a good man all the way up until his final moments, for he had the sheer force of willpower to become unshakeable in the face of the worst of his race. He was a hero both to Siegmund, and those he fought for. Yet, he would be doomed to be hated by history. Such could not be helped, Siegmund supposed. Infact, he had told Marus as much in their last meeting. But ofcourse, Marus did not care. He stood on principle, and was the better man for it. "I'll miss you, sweet brother." Only then did the tears begin to fall like rain. In the deepest parts of the Dark Forest under a resplendent full moon, an Elf found a place to sit beneath the choir of stars, a lyre harp in hand. He first removed a flask of Carrion Black from his belt before up-ending it into the grass, to symbolically pour one out for the Man who had died. Then, Kalador placed his fingers to the strings of his instrument and began to play. It was not a sad song, but one of stoic triumph against an insurmountable foe. His song filled the night, and he would play until daybreak, for the memory of yet another friend who had died to make the world a better place. Another friend he would never see again.
  15. Siegmund meanwhile enjoyed the fruits of their little journey. The Balianese gift shop may not have been open, but such a thing didn't stop him from taking a souvenir! Perhaps he would dispense it unto his son, whom he loved dearly so.
  16. im not going to write a club-sized paragraph that will beat this dead horse any further than it already has been, but here are my thoughts in a nutshell: other people are right. if you be the good guy and stick to a strict roleplay only policy as an NL, you are willingly playing with both hands tied behind your back. You cannot reasonably organize a proper response in the time needed when shit hits the fan through a 2/3 hour long council meeting, meanwhilst the other side hammered out everything you just did in a 15 minute phone call. if you really want to stop it, staff need to start swinging on the leadership of the server. start punishing people for making discord chats, ban ooc plotting, DESTROY discord. Ofcourse, this will effectively force a massive cultural change on the server and make it by far more infuriating to actually organise things on, but it will create the change you seek in that ooc plotting will be cut down.
  17. im not afk im just sitting down jannies fix it (please)
