A true leader wakes up expecting to hear bad news, and that fact was not lost upon Philip Frederick, Emperor of Oren as he listened to the scouts from the wayward corners of the Empire deliver news within the Imperial Court. It was a string of nuisances.
A rebellious band of brigands had occupied a fort in the North of Lorraine, simply trundled in when no one was looking and claimed it as their sovereign territory. Naturally, they had delusions of grandeur, much like many others who came before them. Delusions of a grand fight for freedom against the Orenian Empire.
Just as naturally, they would be dealt with, as would any other group of squatters who occupied an empty fort, screeching of revolutions and anarchy.
“This time of year has come early again. I bask in the fortune GOD above has bestowed on me, that the threat of my time comes from a group of bandits inside a stolen fort. The Empire has been tested by greater foes in the past, and greater foes once more we shall crush in the future once this blot has been dealt with.”
Of course, Philip Frederick knew that the Dwarves and Orcs were likely to rally to the bandits cause, as they did whenever there was an opportunity to destroy the Empire, but that would not stop the men of the heartland.
The time of year had come and the cycle had restarted, it was time to crush another coalition.
