  2. Oh man! Evark why you gotta be sharing your nodes around?
  3. The Ancient Elves of the regions that the language was pulled from would never have encountered a cat. Maybe a word could be fashioned from fox by using feminine letters. Also, I thought it had been explained that there is no brother or sister because all Elves are meant to be siblings in the way the culture once was. The only differing between them would be that "born of mother" denotes female gender and "born of father" denotes male. The word "mali" is used too often now and doesn't mean what it once did. The word once carried an acceptance of family, knowing that each mali is a precious gift. So you would say mali of father or mali of mother. I believe the Asulon High Elves were inclined to use vowels to carry gender, but my ancient language research had wound down by the time we got there.
  4. I'm not a fan of introducing a magic type that the purpose of which is to make magic more powerful. Powergaming is powergaming, whether you've got lore behind you or not. Why not have some unique abilities rather than just providing an excuse for roleplaying magic with god-like abilities (possibly substitute god-like with shade-like. huehue)?
  5. This could actually be done really easy if the present GM-y person can replace the top layer of dirt with soulsand or something. That way for a farmer to fix their field they have to dig up all the mud and lay dirt back down then ho it. Pretty simple. And doesn't need world edit. Just someone in creative to bash blocks out and replace them.
  6. So THAT is what happend when you open a portal to 4.0. Well, won't be doing that again I suppose

  9. I won't be changing anything on the comprehensive guide collection until someone important says something. There's not much reason to lock this magic so my opinion is that it should remain open to be learnt. Its a complicated magic so it is unlikely that someone is just going to start learning it out of the blue.
  10. Incantations? I am waiting for Kalenz to acknowledge my existence to discuss incantations for whimsical/domestic uses. If I can get it off the ground you could use a wand if you like, though its just the words that matter.
  11. References to popular culture are not often looked upon highly. Plus you don't seem to have much of an explanation as to how it fits in LotC. Why is language and a twig connecting to a magical force? Void or Deity?
  12. Indeed. Not all Lapis blocks or Lapis Ore, but some specifically recognised as being this ore (I guess) have been said to make Mage's get headachey and struggle to concentrate on any magic. The more advanced the Magic User, the stronger the effects. Is this an actual thing? Because... you know... anti mage swords. Or worse... Mage prisons.
  13. Thankyou. Been waiting for that.
  14. Though if you were to look to the High Elves, the word would likely be caele'(cat) because the Kharajyr are an abomination.
  15. In every language there are certain words that bear aural perfection that, when spoken in a sequence with other select words, seems to sing out into the universe as though the Creator himself were the minstrel. Incantations are a magic that are not Void based nor is a deity responsible. They are phrases that illicit a magical response. HOWEVER! these phrases are almost always impossible to just 'happen upon'. For example what reason would someone ever have to exclaim "luminous ambiguous calamity jest" and thus protect all the soil within earshot from the touch of wrought tools? Because the meaning of the word has no purpose and it is merely the sounds of the words that holds purpose to the Incantation, no one besides the clinically insane would stumble upon such gibberish in any language. What this means is that there are a list of predestined groupings of words (differing depending on the language) that have power to do any number things. Incantations would require approval before coming into existence, therefore the level of control is completely within the Lore Master's discretion. Perhaps they are so powerful, influential and secreted that they are reserved for the staff and event teams. Or maybe small alterations could become so commonplace across Anthos that every second hobbit has a regenerating birthday cake. So what I'm looking for is some approval that such things can exist, and then players can propose what incantations might exist, what words they would have, and some details about where this may have been discovered (i.e ancient tomes). All within the desired level of control of the Lore Masters. Good Day
  16. You can. Transfiguration is the only locked magic type of Alteration. The other three can all be learnt independently, though it is always the case that learning from someone is going to be better for you both IC and OOC.
  17. You don't need magic for this. Vanity will give you this anyway. And you don't need others to believe that you are beautiful to be it. Just think about the Emperor's new clothes. No one was going to tell him otherwise. Let's call it the magic of personal conviction. You can do a lot without needing powers.
  18. Take it back to the central idea and build it up in this universe. One is someone who drinks fresh blood to survive. The other is cursed to take another monstrous form under certain luna conditions. With this info make new creatures that fit our world and don't call them vampires and werewolves. I am a big fan of old school vampires, but its too trendy to be able to escape stereotypes so safer to just not do it. If you are a good roleplayer you could explore the idea of eating fresh blood and the psychological implications.
  19. With Elven you just have to make it work "omenta nae'maln'onn" I think my grammar is iffy there
  20. Indeed. the use of the -'onn suffix means born of (whatever you put in front of it)
  21. Well, traditionally an Elven child would have been called as either born of the father or born of the mother. The baby would be carrying more than just the parent's gender but also their ancestral line. More recently those lines have blurred together as people consider a baby to be the product of both the mother and father (and infertility rates seem to have dropped) so I would imagine one of these younger more "edgy" elves would have the words you are looking for.
  22. Good question. I should probably accost me some kick-ass armour.
  23. I have always said that it must be an area that you can 'perceive'. If where you were suddenly became pitch black, you would have a recollection of where things are and therefore still be able to summon fire in an area that you know to be free space. It is also not impossible for someone who is blind to use their other senses to create a concept of the space around them well enough to evoke something. In the case of knowing that something is in a certain place and you evoke where you assume it to be from a distance without being able to accurately 'perceive' it. I would say no. So if Jimmy hides a feather behind him, you can assume you know where it is, but being able to summon something as complex as fire behind HIM, way too hard. As Jistuma said, your best would be to try and scare them by evoking close to them. Or moving so close that you are face to face and can better judge the distance. Fire is terrible to evoke at range. It is the creating of the thing that requires a clear perception of the space in which it is made. It is always easier to evoke something close to one's self, even if that is behind you. The keeping of it going is not so hard though. If you hurl a block of ice over a wall it can retain its form, however it cannot be changed. The element would remain exactly the way it was when it left an area of perception. I would also want to argue that it cannot again be lifted. A mage would certainly know that their evoked element still exists, however they do not have the perception of it to manipulate it in any way, even movement.
  24. Until the Nexus 4.0 magic plugin is given a full release and had some time to be worked on, there will be no new Magic Subtypes considered. Once everything is ironed out will new types be considered, and how they might be added to the plugin would then be an additional element for your proposal. However, seen as acid isn't a basic element (fire, water, air, earth, electrical energy, raw magic) I don't see why it would become an evocation type. Acids are more commonly made than they are just found naturally. Alchemists have the ability to create acids and use them in a fight. And if you want to destroy something: Void Translocation dematerialises matter. I don't see this type of evocation as really adding something totally unique, and it isn't a base element that has been missed so it doesn't really fit straight 'evocation'. Now that there is a plugin, magic types need to be scrutinised even more than previously. You are of course welcome to RP'ing it yourself, however it is unlikely to become canon and have a designated plugin branch for combat.
