This may make it clear that I have not been able to log in for some time I thought that there was a quest board and bounty board type thing that involved having taverns at spawn. I thought that was like a recent announcement or something a few months ago that this would be happening. Aside from the enjoyment of Tavern RP, it also can create an interesting hub point for quests, and you can add NPC's who requests a random object in return for a drink or special useless item, or a shady character who when you interact with he gives you the name of someone on a bounty board. Basically the place needs something automated to encourage it to not be empty all the time. Player run yes. But with Event Team input.

Yeah I am very confused why OOC region perms even matter in RP. The whole matter seems to have fallen into chaos because of wars. But wars and raids are often done in a way that isn't appropriate to roleplay, which is why I have always hated it. If a group attacks a town and wants to claim it, they must now physically live in that town in order to defend it. You can't claim a region and then not be in it. That's preposterous. So why does a coup even matter who has region perms!?! I simply do not understand how region ownership became such domination over roleplay. A roleplay leader is a roleplay leader. Region perms are OOC only. Now with legitimacy of leadership based on some of the complications Jistuma has brought up, you would have to use democracy to decide. Not because the region's government is democratic, but because if the people have an interest in rebelling then their numbers need to be represented somehow. Even still, that all seems much more roleplay affecting, meanwhile the OOC region owner/s is mostly irrelevant. So for the sake of the YourView, my view is that coups shouldn't have different rules to what already exists for wars and raids. It is an entirely RP matter, and the ideal coup is one in which a heavy rebel presence is enough to incite the leader to adhere to demands without the need for violence. You're demonstrating power, not winning at PVP.

Swear words are often a way of accentuating emotional distress, adding character to your speech, or simply a demonstration of a lack of education. With a wealth of history throughout LotC there isn't much excuse for resorting to the first swear word that comes to one's mind while writing a sentence. So to enrich your arsenal, this thread will compile swear words that are useful within LotC and are not particularly race specific. If you have submissions please post them. Whether or not they are added will be entirely within my control so if you don't like it go suck Silvos' sweatpatch. Useful Swear Words Plough, Ploughing A commoners term for the act of sexual intercourse used as a common curse word for just about anything. Scar, Scarring, Scarrer Derived from the blah word “Skah” (similar meaning to plough) though in common it refers to the act of injuring someone without having the honour to kill them in battle. Dank Feces. Is a reference to racial prejudices against Dark Elves. In certain circles the word has had the opposite affect and describes something respected within popular culture. Spook Someone or something which continues to pester despite seemingly having been dealt with. Kha-bait A person whose personality is so unusual that one may expect them to have inter-species relations. Hobknob, hobknobber Male genitalia that is below the average size. Derived from the uncommon term for halflings: ‘hobbit’, and the shape of a door handle that may liken to the end of male genitalia. Vilar From the Elven word ‘valah’ meaning human. This is someone who demonstrates the opposite of valor, embodying all the downfalls of humanity: foolish, gullible, quick to switch allegiance. Bells, Lady Bells A woman’s breasts. Unconventionally "Archmage Bells" or "Arch Bells" can be used for the same body part that is of remarkable size and/or visual quality. Edgy Someone who makes incredible efforts to display superiority of character that they are an embarrassment. Nether, ie “What the Nether?” The realm of origin of all dark and hideous creatures, and the eternal resting place of undead. Poltroon A man who can be described as base, dishonoured, and a coward Vardak An exclamation for when things take a turn for the worse meaning 'rotting filth', though if you got to know him he was quite a reasonable guy. Enjoyable Expletives for the Gentleman or Lady By Blundermore’s Bollocks (or by Blundermore’s beard) The source of the thing to have caused such shock is assumed to be supernatural. The phrasing of "by [name]'s beard" expresses surprise and can have interchangeable beard owners depending on said person's notoriety within the culture of the speaker. Godfery’s Garters Referring to one’s private region. Great for use during formal engagements where vulgar language is unwelcome. Insufferable Lich Someone who makes one’s skin crawl at the thought. Their presence may be a drain upon the life force of those around them even though this is not something liches do. Loathsome Banshee A woman whose voice brings suffering. Her Whispering Isles A ladies genitalia Son of a Druid A bastard whose only parenting must have come from a tree, as demonstrated by their actions.

It sounds like you haven't had to wait 50 minutes to get a response to your /modreq before. -
Region Editing/Demolition Rule Changes
Elindor replied to Harri's topic in News & Announcements Archive
But unless you have region perms already, you would still need a GM to come to your Modreq just to do said damage, even if it is low level? Is there any way this could be less labour intensive on staff? A different type of Modreq that is essentially a mini-application to get temporary region perms? That way a GM just has to say yes or no from wherever they are, without having to come and watch ... ? -

The Font Colour button, along with some of the other text edits, were missing. Normal editing stuff is back now -
Elindor's eyes bulge "You're growing wine grapes? Here in Axios? What is the soil like? I couldn't get a thing to work in Vailor, it just didn't want to fruit. What varieties are you growing? It seems rather moist so the darker reds will probably be well pronounced on the nose but I do question how flavour will be affected.

"Ah good. So then I am not late. But... All which you investigate is political? That is certain to bring you melancholy in both looking forward and backward. Throughout time man, elf and dwarf have had ever the same passivity in leadership. The masses feel a ruling class is required, and there will ever be those willing to take on aristocracy to keep the people subdued. In humans it is, as with all things, displayed more urgently. But we are just the same and have always been so. Only under great struggle is something different sought in times of desperation. And then it is a pendulum between a falsified democracy and an elite ruling superpower." He picks up a book on the topic of species of flora observed in Axios. "Nope, there is no joy to be had in studying politics. There are far more satisfying distractions in our world."

I imagine that you're already working on it. But I can't edit the font colours no more -
"Indeed. Educated predictions are the best kind. Better to judge from patterns than to shift your consciousness outside of the present physical second. Much safer. And what do you see from your throne? The approaching chaos that at once divides and unifies, leaving strength and passion in its wake? Oh. Or do you mean more personally?"

Elindor looks around the space. "Why would you choose this place? It is as good as any, except for the draft up one's behind, but there is not the typical markings of a place to consider home." He pauses then looks at her properly for the first time. "Are you studying something?"

Druid shapeshifting is not that slow. Unless it got nerfed. For druids they get tied to a particular animal and when they want they just change into it.
-
There's been many suggestions for vampires and werewolves. Not to put them in the same boat, but they kindof get that with the territory. None have ever actually gotten anywhere. What I think is more likely to gain an implementation is avoiding the shapeshifting and to have an infectious disease that makes you monstrous and to feast on raw flesh. To have a wolf creature (and just call it werewolf because whatever you want to call it they will miraculously be granted the name through meta and there's no stopping it) that is so heavily overcome with negative effects that there is very little drawcard to playing one, except for creating villain type RP. Rather than becoming a wolf person you become a physically disfigured (whatever race you were before) person, overcome with an insatiable hunger and with a constant psychological battle against a primal urge that is completely foreign to your civilised mind. I have contemplated writing some lore that I anticipate being more favourable to staff but haven't really had the interest to see it through. But good luck to you. If it is denied without much reasoning I guess you could talk to me about some reworks. I remember in a small town there was a girl who contracted some kind of disease and had random spats where she would go and hunt down living creatures to drink on their blood and eat the flesh. It was really cool because her rolelpay became so very interesting, but she received no benefit from it. And you never really knew when she might just start feasting on ya.

I was thinking that. Though the difficulty is that you could go through and kill everyone. They'll just be back tomorrow when someone puts out the call to arms on skype. Or you could attempt to overthrow by infiltrating the church and taking control of leaders through backalley religious means, but the Oren militia are not receptive to roleplay that can't be decided by PVP. You can't be beaten by what you can ignore. That being said it hasn't been done properly previously. So who am I to comment
-
What's the point in having a fantasy roleplay server when anything but human combat is intentionally crushed under this "RP" of Oren's?
-
There's been a couple of suggestion threads recently that appear to be desiring to move LotC into the realm of Factions Server. If you want to play factions then do it. This place is and always will be roleplay. The reason the roleplay around you sucks is because it is combat based and that gets very old very fast.

There's this one: http://i.imgur.com/0u897TV.jpg But you'd have to convert white to alpha as its a Jpeg. Much bigger though. The correct PNG is here http://i.imgur.com/4mom7.png -

THIS 80% of the polls I read and immediately think "You've asked the wrong question, the statistics won't mean anything." I think this is good to have as a particular GM's task. It doesn't really need to be Admin responsibility, nor do you need the full story to make a good poll. Save time and effort, outsource to a GM. Its two pronged. The right questions must be asked to not skew polling results, and compiling them in a visual method that adds meaning. Pie charts are not always right. Google polls or survey money (which pro is not expensive if I remember correctly) are a good way to get MASS opinions on something major. I have never envied the role. There was a time when I was a team leader that I looked over at the quality of the administrators, and back to the shackles about my wrists, and thought "yeah I'd be a great Admin." But I am glad that I never pursued it. If I had done then I wouldn't still be lurking around. I would have flamed out in anger against the antagonising attitude that has swept like a sickness through this community. I would have sought vengeance upon those who have bullied players. I would have enforced great limitations on groups that do not welcome new players and create an environment for them to weave their own story. And I probably would have fired way too many staff members at the slightest sign of incompetence until claims could rightfully be laid upon me that I have taken control and filled positions with my friends. So my feedback is this. You know that you are separate from the players because you must be. You must look forward, respond maturely, and act with the weight of 1000 different opinions in consideration. There is only so much trust that you will ever be granted when working with a young audience. Please continue making decisions as a collective. Pause before responding. Don't be rash. And for God's sake, have a cup of tea already! Also, what Ski said below me. The forum activity is way WAY down, and what is happening on it is usually not community building or story progression. This place is meant to tie us together across timezones and beyond the limitations of our IG circle of influence. From the years I have been here, you're not a real Admin unless some brat hates you for no reason. So have ears to the feedback. But then take a walk and do something else. In reality a lot of what will be spoken in this thread will be inconsequential to the future of LotC.

Elindor is startled nevertheless and disappears into a curling puff of smoke, the book in his hand dropping to the floor. Realising the pointlessness of an escape he reappears at the corner of the bookshelf slightly behind her. His voice is gruff from not being used for a while. "Its difficult to keep up with your present developments, so I find history a familiar place. Why aren't the shelves full?"
-
In LotC a warlock was someone born with magic. That's probably changed because the lore team do what they want and make it canon.
