  1. L’Empire Du Soleil The Empire of the Sun The Persistence of a Sun, A.D. 705 His Imperial Majesty amused himself with his cup of wine as his war-council feuded with one another on the matters of war. The recent development of the Martellian Offensive into the Kingdom of Leon left a gap needing to be plugged, with no one knowing how to do so. The Leonese tactics has proven itself to the Empire that it will go down fighting to its very end, therefore leading to some complications on the matters of tactics to be taken. The Emperor, though not a military expert, weighed in on the bickering, insisting his vassals to cease such displays. He’d round up all the pieces on the Iberian Campaign map, pilling them all on top of the Kingdom of Leon’s Capital. The Message was clear, Leon shall fall. Imperial Actions Iberia Reclaimed 1st Imperial Battle-Group ‘Martel’ & 2nd Battle-Group ‘Louis’ After foiling the first Leonese plot, the Martellian Army continues its steady advance into the Leonese Heartland, this time with the intent of striking at its core, the Capital of their Kingdom. The Imperial Army in the south faced similar success. Governor Louis is expected to have the City fall by the end of the year. Imperial Foreign Affairs In the following wake of the Greco Civil Wars, the Emperor has seen it fit to lay upon the State of Egypt, an Imperial Directive of Condemnation. For the following reasons; -The assault upon foreign powers without any Imperial Oversight. -Risking the integrity of the far eastern Imperial Borders. The Leaders of Egypt are asked to reign in their ambitions be them unchecked, but provides no further orders for them to follow. They may war indiscriminately. ------------------------------- To the North, the Emperor gazes upon in discontent. While the Sea-Kings may be fellow Christians, they showed characteristics unbefitting of such. Even more so, the Emperor was found displeased upon hearing of the seizing of the Jewel of the Isles; London was meant to be the Capital of Britannia itself, a center for all things in the North, but with the constant back and forth handling of the city, it was only a matter of time before London deteriorated in status. Other than making his displeasure clear, the Emperor has not issued any Imperial Directives to the North, only wary eyes watched on for the outcome. 3. L’Empire Du Soleil The Empire of the Sun The Wrath of the Sun, A.D. 703 The Emperor mused over the reports flooding in from the Iberian Peninsula, he already had plans set into motion after the fall of upstart General’s Empire. He had sent orders to the two Imperial Battle-Groups in Iberia to continue the invasion westward, meaning the resuming of hostility between the Empire and the Kingdoms there. The news from Iberia was soon followed by reports from the East. The Invasion of Italy had faced some sort of complication that the Emperor had difficulties sorting out; Imperial Agents in the area report infighting between the Greek City States, which led to the collapse of the southern invasion force. Ambassadors in Byzantium are tasked with uncovering the issues that unfolded in Italy. To his North, the Emperor was content in the affairs being carried out. He had left the Isles in good terms, not bothering to meddle in their hegemony any further. The expulsion of the Sea-Kings from old Imperial Territory had left him a bit more content than usual. The Emperor sighed, clapping his hands together once. Through diligence and sensibility, he had managed to drag his Empire back from the brink of destruction, now he must stabilize it. Imperial Actions Reclaiming the Peninsula 1st Imperial Battle-Group ‘Martel’ & 2nd Battle-Group ‘Louis’ Charles Martel’s Battle-Group was tasked by the Emperor to lay waste to the Kingdom of Leon and seek out its capitulation. Therefore, the Marshal has seen it fit to carve his way into the Kingdom, attempting to lay siege to the closest enemy stronghold. In response to the Emperor’s commands, the Governor of Aquitaine, Louis, sets out from the recently conquered Grenada, continuing to follow the Iberian Coastline - if unopposed, the Imperial Battle-Group would lay siege to the nearest Andalusian City; they’d follow the same pattern that was taken when Grenada was besieged, burning the countryside but sparring the population, corralling them towards the major enemy stronghold in the region. 4. Le Empire Du Soleil The Empire of the Sun The Strength of the Sun, A.D. 702 “The fall of Iberia is nigh!” clamored the enthusiastic council of nobles within Paris. The 10 year long stalemate against the Iberian Empire had been broken, and celebrations broke out throughout the Imperial Capital as people cheered for the inevitable end of the war, a resounding success for the Empire. The victory at Murcia further solidified the Emperor’s reliability and popularity throughout the Empire, as more and more support flooded in, the Emperor’s burdens had been eased slightly. The only thing left to do now was finishing off a downed dog and restore Imperial Authority throughout the heartland of Iberia. Imperial Actions The Conquering of the Heartland 1st Imperial Battle-Group ‘Martel’ & 2nd Battle-Group ‘Louis’ Hoping to put a rapid close to the Iberian Campaign, the Emperor issues the Governor of Aquitaine orders to rally his army to assist Charles Martel in his conquest. Battle-Group Martel is issued commands to lay siege to Metragirta (Madrid). The Emperor’s Own, the Brigade of the Sun is mobilized, reinforcing Charles Martel’s push for the Iberian Capital. The Governor of Aquitaine is dispatched along the coastline of Iberia. He begins to lay waste to the region, burning every settlement in sight, but surprisingly avoids the slaughtering of the populace, his army discreetly guiding them towards the next Iberian stronghold, the City of Iliberri (Grenada) where the remaining rebel army garrisons its walls. Once everything fell into place, if uninterrupted, the Governor’s army would proceed to encircle the city, the legionnaires starting the construction of a palisade around it to further solidify the encirclement. If God willing, the Iberian Empire shall fall this year. IMPERIAL MENU Leader: His Imperial Majesty, Charles I of House Merovingia (+4 Base AP) Capital: Imperial Capital, Paris. 5. Le Empire Du Soleil The Empire of the Sun The Rising Sun of the West, A.D. 701 Charles sat upon one of the many window sills throughout the Imperial Palace; overlooking the Capital of his Empire, he’d appear to be brooding, his thoughts clouded by discontent. From a young age, Charles was already of the understanding that the Empire he was born into was decrepit and corrupted, serving to fuel his discontent. The young monarch was a seeker of knowledge primarily, more interested in old tomes and the likes, one could consider him an erudite; but, just like how one’s duty to the nation is absolute, Charles finds himself with the monumental task of ensuring his Empire survives. With a huff and an exasperated sigh, the Emperor reached over to the table nearest to him, taking a hold of a hefty book, he’d flip to the latest page he was on, hoping to end his tumultuous night as Emperor on a good note with some reading: THE RISE OF AN EMPIRE, HIS EXCELLENCY, SCRIBE OF THE EMPIRE, CAROLII, A.D 235 The rise of this Gallic Empire of ours is a tremendous tale; from the shores of what is known to us now as Calais, came into the light a meager tribe. Wherefrom these people came, we can only speculate, the strongest hypothesis was that they were molded from a piece of the Sun by the Holy Spirit itself. Whatever the case, through oratory knowledge passed through generations, we know of their plight and defeat at the hands of the Batavi, a tribe of Germanic folk that were pushed into France by a burgeoning tribe in their own region. The Sali-Frankii , one of this Empire’s most staple culture along with our primary Gaulic roots, were the cause of our displacement at the time. They saw within us and the Batavi tremendous wealth ready for the picking and so proceeded to invade, but bit into more than they could chew. Our tribe was pushed into the Parisii territory, but instead of initiating a conflict, the Parisii welcomed us and understood our plight. With the strength of the two tribes combined, it was enough for the Batavi to fold, falling into the Confederation of the people. Vicious war broke out between the newly assembled tribes against the Frankii, both sides fought one another fiercely but in a spectacular stroke of faith, the Confederation was able to encircle and capture the bulk of the Frankii. Peace soon ensued, the terms dictating that the disgruntled Frankii people be adopted into the growing Confederation; the Capital was soon decided, the untouched village of the Parisii served to be the future sight of our current Imperial Capital, Paris. A Council of the People soon was established amongst the tribes, with elections being held every decade to decide from which tribe a leader would hail from. This system at its core was flawed, and our people at the time, were of this realization. They be------ The Emperor’s attention snapped to his chamber’s doorway, a herald was held present by his Imperial Brigadier of the Sun. Through a brief exchange of words, it was made clear that his dear friend and Marshal, Charles Martel had pushed through deep into enemy territory of the Iberian Rebellion and begun the siege of a key stronghold, Murcia. Expecting the City to fall in months, the Emperor appeared to be content, for the rebellion would be crippled greatly with the loss of this city. He quickly rearranged himself, dismissing those present and speeds off to the Imperial War-Chamber, knowing that there was no doubt his tacticians would be working on modifying the Iberian War-plans with this latest bit of information. Imperial Actions The Iberian Push 1st Imperial Battle-Group ‘Martel’ Taking the Rebel Empire completely off-guard with the Imperial Invasion, Charles Martel’s Army makes tremendous progress into the fertile valleys of southern Iberia, laying siege to the nearest rebel city, Murcia. An ultimatum is sent to the people of Murcia, promising that if they fold and return to Imperial Authority their lives are to be spared, and are granted tax exemption for the following five years. Rebel soldiers within the City are also addressed by the Marshal, instructing them of the benefits of defecting, most primarily the double wage they would receive and the shortening of their service time for retirement. Charles Martel plays heavily on the aspect that the civil war is a brother versus brother war, and wishes for such petty affairs to cease. Siege of the City would commence immediately with a full concentrated barrage of artillery fire on various key points. The cavalry attached to the Martellian army would be delegated to the maintaining of order along the Highways while cohorts of light infantry forage around Murcia gathering more supplies and keeping lookout for any enemy divisions in the vicinity. With the realization that the Kingdom of Leon may take advantage of the concentrated Imperial Assault into its southern neighbor, His Imperial Majesty makes the call of assembling another army to Iberia, though not of the same expertise as Martel’s own army, it will serve to be a good buffer between Leon and Imperial Territory if they ever decide to attack. The Pontifical Issue Regarding the State of Yerushalayim Growing concern lay present in the east of Christendom; though the Empire had to relinquish control of Judea when the Jews successfully revolted, the Empire at the time saw no need to continue hostile relation with the far-off Judea, and despite religious differences, pursued cordial relations. Though now, the Christian minority within Judea buzzed with hostility towards their Jewish overlords, by some forces unknown, they took up arms against Yerushalayim. Not wishing the Holy Capital of All Christendom be laid to waste by a civil war, the Emperor and the Conclave of Cardinals decreed that Christians within Judea be returned to proper Christian lands and that a safe pilgrim's path to Jerusalem be established at a later date. Little is known on the status of the discussions as of this time, but one can hope that the most Holiest Site on the world be not barred access to the faithful of Christendom. Securing the Empire Key political opposition Senators were spectacularly seized in His Imperial Majesty retaking of political power within the government. Knowing full well the taboo that it was killing Senators of the Patrician Class, the Emperor ordered all their financial assets seized and banished them from their positions, now labelled as disgraced noblemen of no political stature; such a punishment transfer onto the next generation thrice, offsprings of the disgraced politicians will be unable to take up office. A lucky result for slothful traitors to the state. In order to further solidify control and situational knowledge within various border provinces, a chain of outposts begin construction throughout key-points on the Rhine River defense line. Tasked with the preliminary investigation of foreign troop movement on the other side of the Rhine, they are then instructed to send reports back into the heartlander by utilizing the newly established courier system. Though, to the more keen of eye, some might notice that this establishment is but a precursor into something much more ambitious and outlandish. In order for the Emperor to better issue his missives, His Imperial Majesty as seen it fit to reorganize the Cursi Publicii, a state-owned courier system designated with the speedy delivery of all things mail. In order to aid such an initiative, a series of checkpoints throughout the Empire have been reconstructed to serve as key points for couriers to travel through while making their way about. The Imperial Highways of Francia and Iberia no doubt greatly assisting mail from be delivering on time. In response to the potential of His Imperial Authority being challenged, the Emperor does hereby see it fit to re-establish the Order Espion under his direct oversight. Agents picked top of their class and skill and organized and dispatched throughout various fringe provinces. A division is sent specifically to Iberia to investigate any potential threats. Consequently to these reforms of interior affairs, more Imperial diplomats are dispatched to various nations on close to their borders, most notably excluding the Danish-held Flanders province. Their nature unknown, but one could most likely be able to piece the puzzle together when regarding Iberia into the picture. 7. Le Empire Du Soleil The Empire of the Sun The Imperial Capital of the Sun, Paris, A.D. 700 The Empire is in a troublesome state. Ever since its founding all those centuries ago, the Parisian holdings have see nothing else but wealth and prosper, unparalleled strength propelled the Empire to be the greatest there ever was in the European sphere. But with the intense influx of wealth came turmoil itself; seeing no worthwhile enemies to sic the dogs of war upon, factions within the Empire began to turn on one another, leading to brutal civil wars that decimated populations and with the advent of the Great Dying, the Empire was hit the hardest. In these chaotic times, the Empire relinquished or had most of its Provinces conquered by opportunistic carrion, leaving the Empire to be but a shell of its former glory. The corrupted Government of the Empire reeled in shock from such troubles, and begun to work only in their own self-interest. The Empire spiraled down to such a low point that the entirety of the Iberian Region declared itself a rebellion. Not all seems lost to the Empire; the newly coronated Emperor, Charles the First, seems to be a cunning and intelligent man bent on the restoration of power through interior affairs, but he must first deal with the Iberian Issue, and bring back into the fold, the Empire’s most bountiful region. God’s Anointed Emperor of the Sun, Charles the First of the Merovingian Dynasty. Imperial Actions The Imperial Abandonment of the British Isles Eire, Cork - Imperial diplomats alongside with representatives of Clan Thomond negotiate the peaceful transfer of the Imperial Cork Province, in affect, establishing trade relations between the two nations, as well as a Non-Aggression-Pact. Imperial authorities no longer deem the Irish situation to be of benefit to His Imperial Majesty and therefore relinquish all claims and interference in the region. Imperial Assets in Cork are redistributed throughout the Empire in struggling Provinces. The Partition of the English Provinces - Deemed too unstable to fully control, the English Provinces are partitioned between the Kingdom of Somerset and the Kingdom of Mercia. The remaining Imperial Colonial Legion is left in joint control of Mercia and Somerset to see to the stabilizing of the English Isle under their own direct rule. The Great Iberian Civil War Imperial Battle-Group ‘Martel’ His Imperial Majesty dispatches his most loyal Marshal Charles of Martel to quell the Iberian Uprising, accompanying him are a dozen of Legions numbered at fifteen thousand, making their way towards the region of Valencia. Scouts and foragers are sent throughout the countryside to establish some sort of line of sight in order to find pockets of enemy forces and eventually the main bulk of the rebellion army. The Maritime Trade Initiative and Imperial Economics The Empire lays economically downtrodden. Decades of turmoil lead to mass poverty and extreme wealth divisions between the various social classes in the Empire. In order to remedy such a disaster, the Emperor has issued new edicts of trade relations with nations throughout the European continent. Trade Relations established immediately with the following; The Kingdom of Somerset The Kingdom of Mercia The Imperial State of Egypt Clan Thommond With the Empire being beset on many fronts, His Imperial Majesty sees issues with attempting to reform the system of economy itself at this time - he shall wait until the conflicts calm before attempting rigorous economic reforms. Imperial Diplomacy Imperial Embassies are established in Somerset and Mercia while the Egyptian one is strengthened by words of faith by the ambassador there in a public event, further solidifying cordial relations between the Egyptian State and the Empire. Diplomats are sent to establish communications with the Kingdom of Venetia despite the hostile relation between the two nation. His Imperial Majesty sees something in the Venetians that others might not be able to see. An offer to established an embassy to the previously held city of Cork is dispatched to the Leader of Clan Thomond. Imperial Navy The Imperial Navy is divided into regions that would see their abilities most utilized; out of the 15 Knarrs, 10 are dispatched to the Iberian Empire’s Coastline, tasked with hunting down hostile Iberian merchant ships. The remaining five is left to patrol the Ligurian Sea on the borders of Italy and the Empire, they take no militaristic actions other than observing in vessels in the area. The remaining galleys are sent to Paris to be docked in the City’s ports for emergency deployments. The Emperor’s Reforms In an act of political daring, the Emperor seizes control of the Imperial Senate holdings, where the corruption of the Empire is most central, his own personal Brigade taking control of key assets within the Imperial Capital. The City is set into martial law and is lock-downed on Imperial Orders, effectively restricting any modes of communications with other members of the Senate outside of the Capital while the Emperor consolidates his control. The Emperor begins the process of establishing his own loyal officials to positions into the Senate in order to be able to control the matters of the Empire more effortlessly. His first steps towards a meritocratic government free of rampant corruption has been taken. The Imperial Research Initiative Not wishing to be left behind by their counterparts, engineers and researchers from throughout the Empire are centralized for the research of rudimentary science, primarily in the path of advanced projectile weaponry. Taking clues from the stationary ballistae units, engineers attempt to figure out the possibility of remodelling such a weapon to be hand-held by common foot soldiers, akin to bowmen. 10. Nation: The Dominion of Canada Leader’s History (Research your Monarch!): Sir John A. MacDonald Originally born in abroad, like many other Canadians Sir MacDonald was of Scottish origins. His primary career prior to his engagement in politics was that of Law. Serving in the city Kingston as a Lawyer, MacDonald was involved in many high-end cases that served to propel him to influential status among the politicians of the fledgling Canadian Colonial Confederation. He was elected to Premier of Canada but found himself in trouble, for the Canadians had difficulties establishing a permanent form of governance for the colonies; though the troubles would be stopped once he worked together with a man known as George Brown. With both major parties (Liberal and Conservative) working in union as a Coalition, they federalized the colonies into a Confederation and through the British North America Act of 1867, the birth of Canada as a nation was completed. Now in 1885, Sir John MacDonald now faces new troubles with the Metis tribes of the Plains of Central Canada and their rebellious Louis Riel. Nation’s Recent History: Canada is a Colony-State of the British Empire. Numbering at 4.5 million citizens, the Canadian Government is only sufficient enough to moderately tame the cold and gigantic terrain and tap into the vast raw resources the wilderness holds, but with British and others immigrating to the Colony, the Country finds itself burgeoning with potential within the economic sector of resource exporting. Though not at is easy for the fledgling nation; its mistreatment of the ingenious population has stirred much discontent, such leading to the North-West Rebellion in what would come to be known as the Provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta in central Canada. Under the leadership of Lous Riel, the Metis people have risen up against what they perceive to be oppressors of their existence and seek an equal status alongside the new White British Colonizers spreading into the western portion of Canada on-mass. The year is 1885, and the Federal Government of Canada is in the heat of conflict as the rebellion continues. Discord: seannie#666
