In most cases, combat is done via roleplay (text based combat), however people may opt in for PvP combat (mechanic based combat). If both parties cannot agree to the combat method, then the combat will default to PvP (mechanic based combat).

To my knowledge, it has only been majority default without any tiebreaker for a small amount of time. Yet I would hope it would become Majority default with PvP as tie breaker.

We've taken this into account. There were lots of reasons for their removal and lots for them to stay. The final decision hasn't been made yet.
