  3. Within the shadows, a figure emits two purple spectral orbs for eyes, the atmosphere around the figure darkened by an unnatural and twisted force. The figure would fold his arms, leaning back against a wall with an emitted grunt, raising the voice of his past life to enter the realm of the living. "Do you fools really believe power lay within the group of the exposed....? This... Gathering, this, collection of the most Dark.. Has shed ignorant eyes upon our contacts and our works... We have made more loose ties than ever we could count, and my Master would be most displeased at what this has become... "What are we... Now? What is it we do? From what I have witnessed... Your 'cultists' you've taken in, have exposed our works, and our names.. This place has been attacked, raided and broken into.. We have spies, assassins and hunters after us.. Are we just to remain here and let them come after us? The hooded figure stands fully on his feet, lowering his arms to idle against his sides before he walks to go into some torch light. "I have stood and watched in the shadows, while you all go out and make a 'name' for yourselves, you place this entire Coven at risk. Say what you want, and do what you will.. Your actions of previous time have proved faulty and foolish.. For that reason... I will no longer remain here in this place, it is too risky for my operations and my contacts I have established.." With that notion, the hooded figure would slink back into the shadows, the purple orbs for eyes dimming down, as he glances toward the other gathering of Dark beings, he once again, folds his arms and awaits any rebuttal.
  4. As a person who really dislikes the effects of Mechanical Standard for forms of Combat.... I'm all for 'Common Sense'. We see it all the time, when Mechanical Standard is called all lore, logic, rules and reasoning are swept under the 'Pvp grey area carpet'. The only rule that applies when using PVP default, and it is responsible for many bans, would be the 'Do not enter a region where PVP default is disabled to evade PVP.' Common Sense, it's not /that/ difficult to ignore... Before the implementation of Mechanical Standard, people were essentially forced to /learn/ how to RP and give good RP, make an application proving the responsibility that one can hold as a Villain, etc etc... After Mechanical Standard, and a few good months, the server's community suddenly began to 'stop caring', it was all about war, fighting and lack of logical reasoning when it came to death. I like the idea of the Common Sense initiative, I really do, however I feel that the community is not prepared for such a change. I don't believe the playerbase can handle something like this just by their own self discipline in regards to RP or PVP. For something like this to actually stick, I believe we have to have some way to 're-teach' our playerbase and enforce some sort of disciplinary action if this were to be breached. In my honest of opinions, I believe it has to be asserted that the /RULES, LORE and LOGIC/ still have to be applied even when PVP/MechStandard has been called. I know many of you are going to have conflicting and opposing views of what I've just spewed, however give yourselves a chance to actually /think/ about what I've stated above.. I personally think the majority of you already know that the playerbase is not ready/able to provide something like this without positive or negative reinforcement, regardless of what the 'moderating system' is put in place for something like 'Common Sense Standard' people have to be taught, they can't just be kicked out of the server or banned. Mechanical Standard has dulled the effect and quality of RP, this cannot be denied as the evidence of this claim is all over the place, Power-gaming (Hitting players Mc'ly into areas where they can be locked in while they're typing, magic users unintentionally or intentionally refuse to emote 'tells' or even those of Deity magics refusing to emote connecting to their specific Deity.) Meta-gaming (Name Plate Meta-gaming, an act of using one's mechanical nameplate above their IG character to 'know' exactly where a person is and spy on them without emoting 'trying to spy on [insert name here].' Or viewing a status when a war has ended and using this as an excuse to execute.) "Minas or die!!1!11!one!!" (Theft, this kind of Villainous activity spiked when the V.A's were removed, and let's face it, it was absolutely 'terrible', the countless cases where Mechanical Standard was used after a player has been searched Mechanically increased. This does not include 'street theft' alone, this also includes 'Tax' "Give us Tax or we kill your people." That in a twisted manner is indeed "Minas or die." In addition to the previous paragraph above, I'm adding this, in a logical sense and using a reference to 'Robbery' I will place in a little statistic. In the year 2011, posted by the FBI's Bank Crime Statistics, only 51 (5 Percent) of the 1,094 robberies, burglaries and larcenies which occurred in a three-month period, only yielded 18 deaths. Before you say it, I already know, "This is a RP server, they RP how they want!" Yes, this is true, however it is not really logical to 'kill' someone after the Mugger has received what he/she wanted. This includes RP that the victim actually complies with the Mugger. Another thought that stops me from thinking this 'Common Sense' initiative would be a problem is the orientation of the server's RP interests... The server is /heavily/ combat/conflict orientated, this would mean that players have to actually stop clicking their mouses a thousand times and pay attention to what 'logical reasonings' may occur in a RP scenario whether it be combat or peaceful. It all goes back to 'training and learning' how a player can know and detect when something should or should not occur.. Like swimming in full plated armor, climbing a little tiny baby tree as a full grown Uruk and not breaking through the branches, drinking poison and emoting being immune, jumping across a lava pit RP'ly that is near fifteen feet away from the other safe platform... The list goes on. To be honest, I don't even know if I'm on the right topic anymore... If you made it this far in my spewing of words I congratulate you! ~Netphreak was here.... Again... *heavy sigh*
  5. A hooded creature slinks up toward the parchment, its purple orbs for eyes glance the words, before its facial muscles contort to show a smile, slowly glancing up toward the crow emitting, "Foolish." The same creature turns on its heel, walking out of the area without another word.
  6. Nothing like a good background soundtrack to get one into the RP'ing mood. ;)

  7. Uhh supposedly the server is becoming deaded.... *Assumes rain-dance position* "Everyone!!! Clap your hands and stomp your feet!! We shall reanimate the server using ancient tactics!!"

  11. "Yil'Maulana looked with pity upon the man wanting to hide and skitter, so he forcibly apprehended him and brought him thither. Therein, he slid the hood off and broke into a slight cough as he inquired the figure to keep speaking." ~Caivs Marvis - Giaus Within the shroud of normal looking folk, a man did smile as his Necrotic Puppet was apprehended, a brilliant use of misdirection ployed by 'The Plotter' himself. As the Yil'Maulana was distracted with the Necrotic Puppet, 'The Plotter' did slither from the loud crowd, far enough for which his tether upon the corpse Yil'Maulana had apprehended collapsed to the ground, back to the lifeless form it once was. 'The Plotter' did speak once his elusive form reached the outskirts, "Fools the lot of them, easily tricked and manipulated... No wonder the gods had turned their backs on them..." The area was filled with a loud chilling laughter, that which shall stay within the nightmares of those who had potentially heard it, for 'The Plotter' had emerged from the depths of its cave, and will roam...
  12. A hooded fellow with flowers upon his robes listens to the cries of the deranged upon the streets, intently gathering the information required. "And if one of these cultists were to be the very King of Oren Himself? Would ye be faithful to cry for his destruction? Or perhaps this is the will of the gods you seek and worship yourself? If ye have found yourselves to believe a lie as truth, will ye not be called cultists or hypocrites? Either way, you establish death, it's no solution to the current problem..." He speaks under the cover of his hood, slowly sinking back into any cover that allows the shadow to conceal his figure.
  13. Hmm... Am I supposed to feel any different now that it is my 21st birthday? . . . Naaahhh *continues to do childish things*

  14. Banned for role playing with a mob.
  15. Do you think it would be an impressive psychological study if a Role-Player and an Average Joe were hooked up into brain wave reading instruments then observed over a period of time? This is just a random thought that came to me... I think it would be cool.

Depends on the brain being tested, each may have a different result which is why the study would be interesting.

Roleplaying does not require an above average level of creativity, I think. Most people can play make-believe.

  16. If anyone is a LoZ fan, I'd suggest checking out Majora's Mask Remastered Soundtrack on Youtube, it is really impressive.

  17. I guess that would work too :P Then it would show the priority of the rule to favor Mc'ly death in most aspects so.. But that's another argument I don't want to get into xD
  18. The other players may attack.. However it doesn't really specify something like "Only the chasing players can attack you." It wouldn't even be combat at that point, it would simply be a slaughter.. So the rule would have to be rephrased like "If you run from RP then the other player(s) have the right to slaughter your character without any resistance provided from you, aka defensive measures." Something fleshed out like that.
  19. "If you run away from a fight that you are involved in with little to no roleplay, then the other player(s) can attack you via mechanics-based combat. If you emote running, roleplay it fully, and give them time to react in roleplay, they cannot opt straight for mechanics combat." Actually Jist... If we look at this phrase above, it simply says if you run away, the other players can attack you via mechanics based combat.. Now.. Let's take a look at this and dissect it. "Can attack you via mechanics-based (Minecraft) /Combat/." Combat = Fighting and Fighting = Engagement of conflict and / or combat which is simply placed as an action between /two/ people... Now your articulation of the rule was and I quote "The other side can kill in mechanics." Unfortunately, and in a logical manner, Mechanics Combat can only be refered as a Stereo engagement, aka, two or more. So there is a loophole right there in fact that can be abused. It depends on how the person uses the definitions of the phrase.
  20. Absolutely not. This is a clarification thread, did you not read what I have written? I cannot be more clear as to what I have said... How is this misleading?
  21. Appreciated. I have much more to discuss about regarding many different matters, however... I would be up writing all night and I'm currently at work right now. :P Thanks much though everyone.
  22. Thank you for your input Sky, it makes sense even though I disagree on a few things that were said however, what I disagree on is just a matter of opinion and not factual.. According to the explaination and clarification you've said, I agree with what was stated. And you're right, we cannot know for sure how many people use this loophole because the only publicity of it is within the Ban Report section of the forums.. However, it is something that has to be cleaned up in my honest opinion. A loophole is a loophole, no matter if it's for rules or for server plugin exploits, both should be in the same category. Thanks again, the clarification was needed.
  23. And this is where the problem begins, if the community is not pointed to the exact clarification of this rule then it obviously will be used differently and for another persons personal gain. Now in that case simply emoting "Runs Away" would be considered powergaming in the text of the LOTC rules... However, if someone tries to emote "Tries to run away." This is within the rule barrior, yet... People will then try to say "They were running so I will go to PVP default because they were running." This is against the rules however if people were to read them. It has happened many times before... EDITED: If you run away from a fight that you are involved in with little to no roleplay, then the other player(s) can attack you via mechanics-based combat. If you emote running, roleplay it fully, and give them time to react in roleplay, they cannot opt straight for mechanics combat /EDITED: Just needed to throw in the rule so no one gets confused.
