Whenever your political ideology has resulted in genocide every single time it's been implemented in any capacity, yeah, I'm going to say you believe in genocide if you continue to be a communist.

Whenever your political ideology has resulted in genocide every single time it's been implemented in any capacity, yeah, I'm going to say you believe in genocide if you continue to be a communist. Like in Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania, North Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Ethiopia.

"every single time," I think you're forgetting about vietnam and cuba, laos and to some lesser extent venezuela. your definition of "communism" is so vague that it could mean either any left-leaning state on earth or just the two or three you think are bad

the french revolution resulted in >40,000 deaths. there were 16,594 official executions during the reign of terror. does this mean that everyone who subscribes to enlightenment ideas believes in genocide? there's a compelling case to be made that they do, given the millions of deaths and counting from the war on terror. the problem is that just like how marx never wrote anything about starving ukrainians to death, john locke never wrote anything about cutting off people's heads. there are countries and people who subscribe to both of those ideas who have never committed a genocide. you have nothing to back up the ridiculous argument. nice try ben shapiro

Oh, I did forget Cuba who's late great leader is listed as guilty for genocide with 35,000 to 141,000 over about twenty years murdered. or the millions of Vietnamese killed in politically motivated murders.

Yeah, the french murders were completely wrong. Everyone knows it's wrong. (Not to mention completely against liberal ideas) Though extremely tame and mild to the terror of communists. The war on terror is an entirely unrelated disaster on it's own. It isn't a revolution it's an invasion. And, yeah, Marx was totally down with violence. By his own words "There is only one way in which the murderous death agonies of the old society and the bloody birth throes of the new society can be shortened, simplified and concentrated, and that way is a revolutionary terror." He knew that his ideas necessarily will be violent and the best way to deal with this violence is to organize and commit it consciously so those that must be dealt with will be dealt with faster. He wanted to eliminate property owners. Not eliminate property ownership, but eliminating property owners. Any communists who follow Marx's teachings in some capacity supports an economic theory that supports and even requires genocide to implement. There is no way around this. At all.

Uuuwahhh?! But I'm Good!  (Well mostly OwO)

  4. Maybe for hurried and clumsy healing but I think with enough time and patience a dedicated healer could achieve very good results. I'm thinking daily appointments for two or three OOC weeks where the progress is slow. My dark elf had her hand removed when she was a child and I had her go to the same cleric every day for painful healing treatments that would heal very tiny amounts. But the fused joints and the like could actually give something for mundane doctors to address after the worst of the injury was healed with magic? Also I don't like the idea of rewrites. Why not just address the problems directly in the lore that exists?
  5. Well I forgot to add in 'with time'. Like, if you regrow a hand I would imagine that it would feel very alien and clumsy for a long time. But eventually, I would figure that it would return to normal.
  6. What a complete load of perfectly reasonable ideas. I agree with almost everything there except I think over time someone should regain complete control of a limb again. But certainly not a Piccolo levels of regeneration no.
  7. Then, you know, actually propose actual changes instead of setting goal posts for everyone else and then whining when they don't meet the goal posts you meet while you endlessly declare axioms without any evidence just like every single person in this thread. If you actually don't believe that people absolutely will use permanent injury to ruin the fun of other players for the sake of ruining their fun then you haven't paid attention. I'm not going to conduct some kind of study to meet your impossible standards. Don't use hyperbole. No healing is "instant" and getting healed is not avoiding consequences. You think healing is too fast. Just say that and then tell us how fast you think healing magic should be since you supposedly have nothing wrong with healing magic on principle. So I'll set my goalpost for you then. What exactly, in full explanation, should be the limits of any healing method? I think limbs should be able to be regrown after an OOC month or so over many sessions like how I experienced. I've never ever seen anyone just Piccolo out an arm from holy magic. Because if you think that there should be no recourse rp at all on a high fantasy server then I would ask who is asking who to bend over backward to fit their desires.
  8. Yeah, I see you committed whataboutery. You didn't address the fact that there absolutely are players who would love nothing more than to use permanent injury to screw with other players. Oh, and you can't say earlier in the thread that using reports is ineffective because players won't use it when something affects them directly and then turn around and use the exact same argument that you criticized earlier. Someone getting healed doesn't take your fun away. At all. This is just stupid. What, if you cut me and I get a band-aid, does that ruin your fun? If you poison someone but they get an antidote, does that ruin your fun? No, it doesn't. If you cut someone's arm off and they go to a cleric and, over several sessions, get it healed like I did when my character lost a hand for an OOC month, that isn't dodging consequences. It isn't. Just because someone can rectify a problem doesn't mean the problem didn't happen. Avoiding consequences is ignoring an injury, not getting it healed. You've engaged in this hyperbole throughout the entire thread that getting healed is exactly the same as not being injured in the first place. It isn't. Your actual problem is that you think that the consequence isn't severe enough. That's fair, but saying that there is no consequence is just wrong on it's face. But you know what? none of this is relevant because I'm not defending holy magic at all. I'm trying to say to readers why I think some people are just "remove remove". And since this debate very well could be used or influence a policy decision, yeah, the intention of people who post is entirely relevant. As far as when you touch on my preference statements, this is why you shouldn't split someone's response because I explained why making an argument entirely based off of your personal preference isn't appropriate because LotC welcomes several different kinds of roleplay and players. Complete bullshit. This server has children that play on it. Powergaming is incorrect roleplay. Also there is established lore and vague theme just in case you try to pull those arguments to make a false equivalency. Also, no I'm not talking about you. I never said you. You made this about you. If you need proof then look at some of the responses in this very thread. "Durr, it's **** remove it". And why would I quote people I think are being dishonest? They're dishonest, there's nothing to gain from that. I'm projecting to anyone reading this thread about what I think might be going on with some people in this thread. I am not here to do call-outs and I'm not here to totally pwn doods. There are people who will use anything they can to force people to roleplay the way they want. This should be pointed out to people. Just like people will argue for certain war rules to make rp more palatable for themselves rather than have opinions based on rather or not the war rules are fair to everyone.
  9. Oh no, it's very relevant. There are dishonest and mean-spirited players that absolutely will use any permanent injury to **** with players. It's not controversial and people have openly discussed how to ruin player bases. When talking about nerfing a magic into the dirt to allow for permanent injury, yeah it becomes very relevant. Also is an argument that the magic allows for a mode of roleplay that someone doesn't want to see on the server. Not that the magic takes the fun away from other people unfairly but rather it allows people to simply engage in a certain kind of roleplay that they don't like. Discussions like this almost all are based on an appeal to preference. Preference in the /way/ that other people roleplay. People bitched that some players like being straight up pointy hat wizards and use that as a reason to remove some magic. I am entirely convinced that some people approach the discussion dishonestly because they aren't interested in making magic in general better for all parties involved and instead want to shape all roleplay on the server be conducted to their liking. I don't like military RP. I don't like war RP. I don't like guard RP. I don't like raid RP. However, I will not ever advocate that these things be removed, that lore be adjusted so that I never have to witness someone else having this RP, or that rules be made in a way to prevent this RP. I've actually defended raiders in discussions about raid rules because some of the raid rules are very, very unfair to raiders. Even though I cannot stand the **** tier Rp that I find raid roleplay to be. I do not want to prevent other players from doing the kind of RP that they want to spend their hours doing. Even if it, even rarely, it involves me. This is not true, almost at all, when discussions shift to magic, family RP, fantasy, arguably elven, or anything on this side of the server. It's "I don't like this kind of roleplay and we should just straight up remove all of it." Also chopping up posts into bite size pieces isn't good form. It separates sentences which might make more sense in the greater context. Sometimes this is done out of dishonesty or just a choice of form. But considering that you tried to make some petty "Ha, gotcha sucker!" moment because I didn't feel like scrolling up to use the quote button at the top fo the page, I have no idea about your particular intentions.
  10. "muh dynamic rp" It's all bullshit folks. There are groups of players out there that will use permanent injury to purposefully ruin a player base. There are players out there that want to remove any and all fantasy elements and will use permanent injury to try and achieve it. Yeah right, dynamic rp my ass, unless your RP doesn't fit my grimdark fantasy, then I might just have to retcon it because roleplaying in established lore isn't dynamic in the way that I want it. Yeah, some people want to play hug-box family slice of life RP. Yeah, get over it. Boo-hoo someone is roleplaying the way they want, better dynamically change the lore and rules to force everyone to collaborate the way that I want to. inb4 the bullshit slippery slope argument made before. If it's age appropriate and fits in the general lore and theme, then get the **** over yourself. If you want to talk about specific details about a magic that make it unfair or unbalanced, sure, let's talk about it. But don't be fooled, there is a ton of dishonesty in these kinds of discussions. Some people really don't give a **** about making magic, creatures, and anything that lies outside their grim-dark preferences effective, balanced, or fair. They only want to "r-remove" all of it. LotC's success, and ignoring the doom-sayers, LotC is an extremely successful RP server, arises partially because LotC is accommodating to almost all the different kinds of players and their tastes. LotC doesn't try to viciously force players into a certain kind of RP. This concept absolutely has to be protected and people need to understand that their preferences really cannot be allowed to hold that much power on decisions. There is a reasonable limit to everything including the very principle that I laid out but I wanted to flesh out what I've been seeing for some time now.
  11. Oh man, that means that means all nations need to be deleted.
  12. I mean who cares? OOC opinions about players shouldn't have anything to do with people's opinion about the lore. There are also some players who only want to remove magic and RP that isn't what they like. If the conversation is about rather or not a magic should be shelved, then the conversation should only involve rather or not the lore itself makes sense and how many people interact with the lore. Anything else is irrelevant and likely dishonest.
  13. I am being sarcastic. I'm tired of scapegoating lore for individual behaviors, as if these magic players are somehow uniquely toxic. They're not. There is toxicity literally everywhere but only one group has lore retconned over it. It just seems that 'dynamic rp' and 'let rp dice fall where they may' only applies to certain kinds of players.
  14. Dynamic and free roleplay! Unless your RP isn't quite to our liking. Then we'll remove the whole thing wholesale.
