  1. Neutrality is always the best course. I am curious however as to what necessitated this proclamation. Were we involved in some skirmish? On the side of "Snow" elves, of all people?
  2. Aetahir nods along with Iatrilemars's comment, and remarks himself afterwards. "Honestly, I blame Sullas and Astore for saving their treacherous hides from the orcs in Asulon. Though this is not a lesson in trusting those felines, but of believing short-lived peoples will always remember their benefactors."
  3. "To address the giraffe in the room," begins Aetahir, "is not always the finest way to begin any sort of conversation. I shall speak it however, so that louder, angrier individuals need not, and my fragile ears remain unmolested by their anguished cries." He leans forward in his chair, and gracefully lowers his teacup on a convenient table. "Some have accused you of murdering your former Sohaerate opponent Mr Suliin'thilll. Given the time of his reportedly violent death, it seems very convenient for you. I admit, I was not a witness. I wish to hear your words on this. Understand that it is likely many may not believe you, regardless of your answer. But my own curiosity demands it."
  4. Another small piece of paper is attached to a single copy of the poems. "Prose for Prose A curious thing, the democratic process, it exists in few places, you know. Any citizen may stand to guide our days, and our people judge their worthiness. Corruption, indecision, impurities may flow, but does anyone know any better ways?"
  5. Underneath a single copy of the poster-poems, there is a little piece of folded paper. Upon it is a small poem written in a neat, cursive handwriting. "Poetry for Poetry. I remember the Lion's roar, the one that did tear this silver hall. Throughout our city, near and far, he drove his madness to our very core, over a tenuous issue in our nation's law, do not forget the rabid elf Nelecar."
  6. *Iatrilemar pulls up a document* ((https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/135762-the-book-and-the-law/)) "It is your method Taeleh. Also this is not a show of power. I was simply curious about the method and so I am testing it out again. Strange that no one raised their concerns the first time." "I had thought it to be a misunderstanding on the part of the voters in its previous incarnation, Malaurir. I apologise for not making it known to you. Forgive my slothfulness."
  7. "I'm certain that it is meant to be the way you describe. I'm not sure why it became as it is."
  8. Aetahir grumbles in a corner of the Citidel. "This voting method is bizarre. The "abstain" option is only for when a citizen has no confidence in either candidate. If the contest is between two individuals, simply vote for one. You should not need to "abstain" for the other. It is redundant."
  9. A gauntish High Elf peers at the announcement, and scratches his chin in thought. "Do the Mali'ame leave these offerings to rot upon their shrines? Is there a collector--a divine postman to whisk them away to the heavens?" Glancing towards one of the wood elves holy places, he shakes his head and raises an eyebrow. "What strange ways these nature-worshippers have."
  10. If you want to mess around with a near-dead subrace, try forest dwarves.
  11. "Bah! Quitters." Remarks a sallow high elf upon learning of the relocation.
  12. Where exactly is the magic Q&A?

  13. "Far too much wood in that town. I prefer the citadel. Hopefully the new council won't lose control of this settlement. Like certain other places."
  14. As a roleplaying server that accommodates just about every popular fantasy trope (not a negative point, mind), players always want to play something familiar-be it magical elves, lords and knights, beer-swilling dwarves or evil necromancers. A vampire inspires a very specific image that tends to be homogenous across most fantasy settings. Drink blood, hate sunlight, be immortal, the dark and twisted children of the twilight etc. This image comes from the name vampire rather than what it does. You don't gain that image from a parasite. A traditional vampire-type creature would be well suited in LotC. Perhaps not this one, though.
  15. "Larihei was the one who first encouraged its use. A most abhorrent elf indeed."
  16. ((In the Asulon days when this citizenship model was used, judgement on sentence-structure was extremely forgiving. I don't think a single applicant made a correct sentence, or even close to one. I'd suspect it was more for people to learn basic elven, like greetings and a few scattered nouns. I very much doubt it will be very rigid this time either, being as maybe two people in Haelun'or can write elven with any sort of clarity. No need to stress. Also, don't fill this thread with your OOC garbage. It's an RP thread.))
  17. "A commendable change," mumbles Aetahir somewhere in the citadel. "I wonder what prompted the return of such old citizenship methods?"
  18. "And may his putrid, blackened soul rot with his infernal master." Muttered Aetahir, somewhere within the cavernous citadel.
  19. History shows that these threads are a mistake for us, but... -Value exile over execution, -Villainize taxation more, -Encourage science over tea, -Encourage magic over tea, -Encourage anything over tea.
  20. Why'd Moot post a google.doc of the post he wrote? Seems somewhat redundant.

  23. "One demagogue throws accusations at another, yet what is it you truly want? You are as 'strange' as the ones whom you claim to occupy the lofty towers of governance. Furthermore, one accused of crimes as well--be they falsehoods, or otherwise. Remove your gilded pretences of 'republicanism,' and speak plainly for those around. If you are accused of subverting the actual elected government, how can anyone in this city trust you? Until you mend your ils with our people, sanctioned violence will be the only outcome to this grandstanding. You are as if a hare, sniffing the air and hopping about the boundaries. Tear the silver from your tongue, give evidence for your proclaimed innocence, or begone."
  24. "Such foolishness. The Caliphate's neutrality was its greatest strength."
