I mean to quote sheylo here not you alex sorry I dont know how to fix literally what are you talking about, are you implying that there's anything in the full conversation that incriminates me? the screenshots were posted in a private chat to people relevant to the politics of our nation and I didn't even know they were being spread en masse until shortly before this post went up the notion that I'm an evil OOC plotter who just wants to eradicate your playerbase tiring beyond belief. I do not think about you or anyone else in hnor who has, from the start of our conflict, been perpetuating the "they just want clicks, they just want malinor, this is all OOC motivation, the CB is weak and fabricated" narrative nearly as much as the amount of screenshots I've seen in which I (specifically me, not even just caurost) am OOCly villainized would insinuate you and others think about me. do it in RP if you want, I'm sure we'd all prefer that, but OOCly it's incredibly one-sided and I'd literally just prefer being left alone instead of being used as a pawn for your Le Epic "ragebait" on the forums anyways I haven't asked for llir's resignation because I don't realistically know what that implies for the server's longevity from a technical perspective, and I can settle for expanded policies and eliminating the conflict of interest. Iris accurately points out at the beginning of the post that the conversation in our screenshots was an effort to coerce and guilt-trip a certain answer from me, and I don't necessarily believe that it was a harmless attempt to clarify the implications of RP. whether or not it was intentional, there was a clear goal to achieve that would serve a tangible benefit to his playerbase and I think this is something safer to be acknowledged than to beat around the bush about it llir and I had a reasonable conversation following that screenshot, so while yes I believe the situation has been mishandled and I believe there needs to be accountability, I have no personal vendetta nor is my desire to bully anyone, because believe it or not I'd rather be friends with people than be at odds. I don't expect everyone to agree which is fine, for some people it very much is personal. but there's certainly merit to a conversation surrounding whether or not this is something that will happen again, whether or not this is fair to people who have been affected by this conflict of interest in the past or the players who will verifiably be banned for doing similar things OOCly in the future for me the issue at its core was the very specific and very discernible power dynamic of tech admin -> player. the admin in question being someone with direct control over the rules and mechanics that could impact either of our playerbases, who then sought to actually exert that control. it's what made any passing encounter OOCly so uncomfortable for us, things felt tense and domineering for the simple fact that this wasn't a player-on-player interaction, it was a player-on-tech-admin interaction, these feelings peaking with the exchange in the original screenshot in which I'm effectively being pressured into a certain answer. but again, the nature of it was something that was acknowledged and apologized for in DMs, I consider us on okay terms and I'm not trying to rub anyone's nose in the shit here I don't necessarily think the solution here was to make a blanket rule on all mods/story/community/tech members, it feels reactionary and detracts from the accountability that should instead be afforded to these specific scenarios of admin intervention. mods, story, community and tech members do not nearly have the amount of influence over other communities or players to such a degree that anyone would feel the need to tiptoe around in conversations. as others have pointed out, you're removing one of the few meaningful ways for staff to be in touch and attuned with the playerbase and I think we'd much rather see more emphasis on admin intervention and how unfair it is that other people have (and will continue to be) punished to a far greater degree for the same crimes if the solution isn't to reprimand the admin, maybe the solution is to re-evaluate how the players are reprimanded instead. idk, just my two cents

If you were already whitelisted you dont need to re-apply, you can just continue playing the server as you were. If you'd like to keep the character you used to have, theres lore the allows you to continue playing them from the age you left off at, but if you'd rather make a new character that's fine too. When you log on just type /menu and click on any one of the empty heads :)

C E N S U R E F R O M T H E I V O R Y C R O W N Issued by the Ivory Crown & Grace of the High Prince 13th of the Deep Cold, year 232 S.A THE TRANSGRESSIONS of the Silver State are so plentiful and infamous that even the tomes of grudges written by the chroniclers of the dwarves and those proud lineages of humankind could not encapsulate a mere summary of their misdeeds. A dishonest people would be inclined to cite the greater portion of these real offenses, not needing even to invent others, but the people of Cauróst are not merchants with false weights. Their grievances need not be ancient, nor must they scrape to find legitimacy for the justification of their demands. Of the crimes of the Silver State, five have been deemed most offensive to Cauróst: I. Year 176 S.A. The attempted murder of Húrin Ílumrin, father of the Prince of Cauróst, by Valindra Nullivari; II. Year 176 S.A. The forced captivity of Seraena, mother of the Prince of Cauróst, by Valindra Nullivari in an effort to escape during the attempted murder of Húrin Ilmurin; III. Year 189 S.A. The forced captivity of the Prince of Cauróst and his councilor, Avagis Ingeson, by Sohaer Incariol in an effort to obtain the submission of the people of Cauróst, via coercion and threat of violence, thereby violating the assumptions and traditions of hospitality; IV. Year 227 S.A. The wrongful and illegal attempt to force the extradition of the Ibarellan family in violation of their right to diplomatic immunity while within Cauróst, furthermore undermining the authority of the Ivory Crown by attempting to gain illegal entry into the city after being refused extradition; V. Year 232 S.A. The threats and insinuation of the necessity of a ‘crusade’ against the people of Cauróst by the Sohaer and her peers. LAMENTATION The people of Cauróst, in their reverential, humble devotion to the principal maxims of war, opted against fraying the Holy League by meeting these offenses with equal measure. A common refrain of war, first attributed to the great Phaedrus'Yar, although certainly an existing sentiment before him, is written thusly: “When shared, the wounds suffered during war come to painfully overwhelm the ache of past scars: when under the trial of force, bitter enemies may become steadfast allies.” The people of Cauróst are well-studied and well-practiced in the methods of warfare. It is our weakness that martial pursuit, a self-edifying and honest practice, is a poor teacher of court intrigue and schemes undertaken under cover of darkness and wine glasses in ivory towers. The recent war, an ample opportunity to put aside the contentious years preceding it, was twisted and used by the government of the Silver State as a medium to attempt to exert their will over Cauróst. Befitting a country that chooses the poisoned chalice above the tempered blade, the Silver State squandered the opportunity brought by war so that it could grasp for what scrap of power they thought might be available for them. Having been poor-sighted as much as they were short-sighted, they have taken the wide-reaching and generous patience of the Prince of Cauróst for granted and spilled the contents of the cup of goodwill upon their marble floors. No injury upon the pale and fragile skin of the Sohaer and her officers has been dealt by a Caurósian hand, yet from white shadows they have gathered to undermine this country, no doubt with the intent to strike when they perceive weakness. It is in the circumstances of this petty intrigue, under far more serious consideration than past grievances, although they have remained without resolution. The pride of the Sohaer, at the expense of her state and her people, will prove to be her undoing. As the glove of friendship has been batted away, the gauntlet of consequence must be donned and brought across the head of each and every councillor guilty of abetting the misdeeds of their country. Had the Sohaer and her council made redress for their crimes, or had abstained from continuing their provocations, then the matter would have been permitted to be overlooked. That door is now shut. TERMS OF PEACE I. A public statement from the government of the Silver State in apology of their past transgressions; II. The abdication of Valindra Nullivari from the Sohaerate; III. Supplication to the Ivory Throne and the recognition of the Prince of Cauróst as the suzerain of Elvendom. The Silver State is given a period of one year, or seven Saint’s days, to satisfy the above terms, and three Saint’s days to pursue negotiations. Failure to do so will force the Ivory Crown to use the full force at their disposal. To the Silver State of Haelun’or, In the elvish tongue, Uell ito Maruthiran translates to Death to Tyrants. A bitterly honest axiom, yes, but one critical to the stability of great powers. It is the plain truth that there is no wound so profound as one dealt by the warrior who longs for peace, yet it is a truth I suspect your people shall come to forget with haste with the issuing of this late censure. The rulers of the Silver State, the bastion of logic and reason— if only by their own accord— shall elect to posture themselves as the martyr subject to warmongers and undue bloodshed at the hand of Caurósian tyrants, thereby deceiving not only the citizens beholden to them, but the allies they’ve committed a great deal to gaining the approval of. However, I admire this almost slate-cold resolve of the mali’thill, the conviction to abide by one’s creeds with such zeal that our kin have been so woefully starved of in epochs. Undoubtedly so, it’s this fidelity that has preserved your civilization through folly and celebration, both carnage and reverie, while lesser countries, ones we’re both regrettably familiar with, have succumbed to corrosion and apathetic vice. As such, the recent foray you’ve committed to assailing the Balianite people with through boasts of valor and bravado ought to be seen for what it is: a calculative, opportunistic effort to curry the favor of greater allies, to extort the dying, and to posture against the Princedom. Such conduct does distinguish you from us, though not quite in the fashion you had hoped. While someone of a more venomous disposition might find satisfaction in opportunistic bloodsport, I see no vainglory in the slaying of a snared, bleating fawn too infirmed to lift its own head. While a warrior without honor is merely a marauder, it seems that even the likes of common banditry gains a certain refinement when dressed with a state seal. So I caution you, mali’thill, if you’re at all as practiced in wisdom as you proclaim, let yourselves be governed by reason and steer from a path of wanton bloodshed. I am not the tyrant you’ll so eagerly craft narrative of in your vaunted library, for I have stayed my hand where someone of lesser restraint would have long since struck. But do not mistake my reluctance for frailty, for I act with purpose upon your people, not with haste— and should you continue to test my mercy, you shall meet an assured end with the swiftness of your late rivals. Take this, then, as my decree. Celia’nor dared too little. You dare far too much. Issued by the Ivory Crown & Grace of the High Prince 11th of the Grand Harvest, year 231 S.A T H E E L D E R T I D E S U M M I T To the Denizens of Cauróst, Where a flourishing Princedom demands that the people meet the needs of the Crown, too must the Crown strive to meet the needs of the people. As such, the Ivory Crown hereby decrees the hosting of an Eldertide, where the people are invoked to air their grievances, needs, and forthcoming desires on the condition of our beloved realm. such a shame that military/guard RP has seen such a stark decline compared to how it used to be. it's probably my favorite niche of RP but outside of some outliers (like burgundy seems to be doing well, maybe numendil?) it really feels like it's been left in the dust in most places. there's a lot of reasons for this but I think the simplest explanation is that there's just no reason to have a military or guards in most places, at least not as much of a need as there used to be

It's funny but I feel like the best guard roleplayers get elevated to whatever status and then no one seems to fill in the gap, and we're devoid of having our favorite guard at the gate :(
-
There will never be another ISA. I do miss just noob guard RP, I remember back in my early early days, I tracked down a guy and insisted him selling drugs was illegal, and I remember being the only guard around and dragging him into our cells. Was useless, but it was fun anyhow. I am trying to do that again with Haelun'or and its relatively small population, and while it is working in some ways, I don't think anywhere will get the level of just sitting in gates for hours on end and just bumming around for no reason

[✓] [Creature Lore] - Fairies
Unwillingly replied to Unwillingly's topic in Non-Playable Creatures/Event Creatures
I didn't necessarily write them with the intention of being druid-oriented, they're just meant to be their own independent creature, which is why I didn't really delve into their origins. If LT or player are interested in seeing some kind of explanation for how they came to be, I can definitely spitball something there if asked. If there were any discrepancies it's likely they'd just be from the fae realm -
C R E A T U R E S U M M A R Y Most known for their diminutive size and magical properties, Fairies are social creatures who find company among one another in their respective habitats. Their behavior reflects that of birds, insects, or other commonly small animals, in that they are remarkably simple-minded and instinct driven. Attempts to form anything beyond superficial engagements with them will prove fruitless, for they rarely seem to heed their surroundings unless directly disturbed or provoked. They act on comfort and curiosity rather than reason or ambition, and thus are both incapable and unwilling to bring harm upon others even when provoked. Instead, they will make attempts to flee, hide, or cower when faced with adversities. Some Faeries may be befriended, the means and result of which varying depending greatly on their type. Hobgoblins, for example, are comparable to vested companions, while Naiads will flee from any attempts at domestication. Being a social creature, they’re most commonly found in clusters in any given area. To spy a lone Faerie would prove remarkably rare, if not the product of one who had been intentionally displaced. Their appearances are vast and varied. Some assume the likeness of small, humanoid figures, while others are comparable to that of magical orbs of light. It's unknown how many types of fairies exist, but commonly seen are Wisps, Naiads, Sylphs, and Hobgoblins. T Y P E S WISPS Like most mundane lunar creatures and insects at night, Wisps are night fairies who find solace when the moon is highest. They emerge when the trill of frogs and crickets is at its peak, often seen dancing among thickets or heavily wooded glades where they leave behind a trail of fading, shimmering light akin to a sparkler’s afterglow. Although they’re often mistaken for that of fireflies or common insects, closer inspection would prove Wisps to be the size of a common coin. Most characteristic of them, however, is their vibrant auburn glow capable of bathing even the gloomiest of places in a warm light when in number. The physical form of a Wisp is yet to be uncovered, for any attempt to peer past their glow would prove impossible. Some suspect that, like their fae cousins, they take on the form of a small humanoid, but this is yet to be proven. Due to their size, these creatures may prove exceptionally tedious to capture, but serve as reliable sources of light when multiple are contained in lanterns or small cages. When held, they simply feel akin to a warm, hovering mass in the palms. - Wisps are not bright enough to blind or harm to any capacity, Their warm glow is only bright enough to light up dim areas to the degree of a torch light, and furthermore conceal their physical form. - The glow of a Wisp cannot penetrate magically induced darkness, shrouds, or similar effects. - There is no taming process to a Wisp, they may simply be captured as one might capture a common insect. - Captured wisps are represented with a player signed RP item. NAIADS Creatures of grace and healing, Naiads often dance and hover across the surface of water bodies such as lakes, streams, or ponds, where they elude the abrasive torrents of oceans or rushing rivers that might disturb their serene properties. No larger than that of an apple, they take on the forms of ethereal blue wisps, hovering over the surface in softly-bounding movements. Their glow is not as abrasive as Wisps, for the close inspection of a Naiad would reveal the silhouette of an androgynous humanoid, set with a pair of slim, transparent wings. Although capable of being approached, they’re remarkably timid and easily disturbed, and will swiftly shy away from reach if attempts to capture are made. Naiads are said to bless the waters they dwell, their presence subtly purifying and refining what might otherwise be murky and unclean into drinkable springs. Those who consume the water are provided a temporary sense of clarity in the mind, any uncertainties, stresses, muddied thoughts warded off. - Naiads cannot be captured, they’re far too elusive. Although they’ll wander near those who are gentle enough, they’d quickly whir away when touched or in the presence of sudden movement. Any nearby chaos, shouting, or raucousness will send them scattering. - The healing properties of Naiads cannot overcome or alter any magical or lore influence. Their purification ability simply allows natural water to be safe for consumption— Allowing, for example, a traveler to drink from a pond in the woods that would otherwise be unsafe. - The mental healing effects are for narrative purposes, not combative. They provide no physical buff or mental awareness. Effects last for the remaining RP encounter upon consumption. In the event of any lore interactions, the opposing lore piece will always take precedent. - Naiads can only purity small bodies of water, such as ponds, springs, fountains, or streams, not entire lakes or rivers. Purified bodies of water are best represented with an RP sign, but not required. HOBGOBLINS Among the most laborious, distinct types of faeries, Hobgoblins are known for their devotion to the aid and upkeep of household chores and common tasks. Although as elusive as the flowerlike Sylphs, the presence of a Hobgoblin is undeniable when put to work. It will happily sort papers, fold clothes, deliver a letter, chase away mice, organize clutter or shelves, etc. Although their presence is subtle and swift-moving, when seen, they stand no larger than a man’s hand, their skin that of an earthy brown, beige, or mossy greens, sometimes resembling the likeness of a toad— among the least aesthetically pleasing of the faeries. Being resourceful craftsmen, they typically fashion themselves with little clothes of makeshift rags, buttons, twigs, or and other items suited for their size. Befriending a Hobgoblin is simple. Those who take care to leave out the small gift of food, such as milk, cheese, or cookies, may find their chores and common tasks handled swiftly and with great care. The more their appreciation is awarded in a household, the more reciprocative they become. They may even begin to return the sentiment, where they’ll deliver lightweight books or stolen jewelry to their companions as a token of appreciation. - While they may be forcefully captured, Hobgoblins cannot be commanded. They act on a mutual basis of appreciation, not domestication, for it will lose interest if its services go unrewarded after some time. - They can only perform labor equivalent to their size. This usually includes common household things such as folding papers, organizing kitchen cupboards, chasing away mice, cleaning small clutter, etc. - Hobgoblins are no larger than the size of a man’s hand, and thus are incapable and unwilling to cause harm. As stated, they act on a basis of favor, not because they’re asked or commanded, or feel any sense of duty. SYLPHS The most elusive of the faeries, Sylphs are beings of the wilds. They dwell among dense flora and heavy woodlands, although it may very well seem as though they aren’t there at all. One with a keen eye may be able to spot little anomalies within the glades and thickets, creatures small enough to hide among flower heads and bundles of plants. Unlike their glowing fae cousins, Sylphs appear as small humanoid figures, with bodies made of colorful flower matter, allowing them to seamlessly blend with their surroundings. They’re easily mistaken for a shimmering petal in a tree or bundle of pollen in the gales, possessing gossamer-like wings that resemble the branching veins of leaves. They often remain hidden in the wild, only revealing themselves in the seclusion of man-made gardens or greenhouses if approached gently. Sylphs are most at home in the wild, but may sometimes thrive in cultivated spaces as well, where their presence may nurture the local flora. A herbalist’s remedies will become more potent, a greenhouse’s plants will flourish with health, or a florists flowers will bloom richer in color and fragrance. - The nurturing factor of Sylphs is not strong enough to create powerful remedies, potions, or items. These are narrative effects that provide no applicable boon or advantage in healing RP. - A Sylph cannot be tamed in such a way that allows them to be pocketed and transported the way a Wisp might be. They'll only dwell among gardens, glades, greenhouses, or other natural environments. G E N E R A L R E D L I N E S - Fairies are non-playable creatures, meaning interactions with them are self-RP’d. - The RP of fairies are largely freeform. Within redlines, one may choose when and where they inhabit any given location at their own discretion, as these are intended to be very accessible creatures. - Some, but not all, fairies may be befriended or captured according to their respective redlines. - None of these can be used for combative or tactical advantage, the intention for these creatures are purely for flavor and slice of life interactions in day to day RP. - In environments passively inhabited by fairy, their presence is best be denoted with a player RP sign, but not required. - No ST oversight or signing is required for either the passive or active presence of a fairy. - Fairies are non-verbal, they cannot be communicated with. - They’re simple in behavior and thought. Druids who commune with fairy will only be able to discern basic thoughts and emotions; they are peaceful, often curious creatures, and will never be inclined towards wroth, anger, or vindiction. P U R P O S E I’ve always enjoyed staple-creatures of the fantasy genre. Mythical creatures you’d traditionally see such as unicorns, fae, mermaids, goblins, gryphons, fairies certainly being no exception there. I think lore for proper fairies, while rather lightweight in its narrative potential, will hopefully create some stepping stones for fulfilling day to day RP and also the cultivation of other mythical creatures. I’d love to write a general fae CA one day, like some real Jim Henson’s Labyrinth or Dark Crystal stuff, but for now I thought it was best to start small and see if something as harmless as this could make it through. Of course, feedback is welcome.

Issued by the Ivory Crown & Grace of the High Prince 4th of the Grand Harvest, year 230 S.A N O T I C E O F A P P O I N T M E N T Oft forgotten among tyrannical inclinations is the charge of servitude. Central to the conviction of Caurósian rulership is such a creed, that it is not the people who serve the lord, but the lord who serves the people. One such individual, whose extended service and devotion to not only the Maehr people, but Cauróst as a whole, stands in testament to such a sacred law. It is with great satisfaction that the Ivory Crown hereby promotes Aytheln Vel’obv to the seat of Royal Advisor, where he may not only act as an extension of the will of the Crown, but of the people he shall serve. We look forward to his endeavors. Signed, Galahad Ílumrin High Prince of Cauróst, Prince of Malinor & Eldest Son of Húrin Ibarellan

D E C R E E O F T A N E M Issued by the Ivory Crown and Grace of the High Prince, 13th of the Amber Cold, 229 S.A. It is the desire of His Highness, Prince Galahad, acting on the basis of our revered duty to see to the permanent safety and security of the Starlands, to administer the recent acquisitions, brought to him after the shared triumph of the Holy League, in a manner befitting the recent insecurity of that place, being a personal property of the Prince of Cauróst. In view of the complete abolition of the state of Celian’or and the legal status of Celian, to never again be adopted by the ruling power of the region, the former lands encompassed therein will be organized into a single administrative unit. This domain, defined as the Palatinate of Tanem or simply the Palatinate in shorthand, shall be established from the time of the proclamation of this decree, the terms of such settlement defined therein with this very resolution. As such, We do resolve... PROVISION I: On the Palatinate, sovereignty and nationality That the Palatinate is comprised of the Starlands, that region once-held by the House Ibarellan, save those lands ceded to Norland and Urguan. That the Palatinate be defined as a reservation for the refugee elves of the Starlands under the personal protection of the Prince of Cauróst, to be administered by an appointed representative in the region. That the Palatinate be established as the sovereign territory of the Princedom of Cauróst with the status of a reservation, with specific details of governance established in further provisions of this document. That the residents in the Palatinate be considered Caurósian subjects, or in the shorthand Caurósians, for all legal intents and purposes, and as such they are to be considered loyal countrymen of Cauróst, who are hostile to all her enemies. PROVISION II: On jurisdiction, privileges and terms of settlement That the Palatinate be outside of the normal jurisdiction of the Princedom of Cauróst for the purposes of courts of judicature, civil government and ecclesiastical parishes, as a personal reservation of property set aside by His Highness. That the Palatinate be permitted to legislate its own laws in respect to its devolved powers, so long as said laws are compatible with the laws of Cauróst and the terms of this decree, and that in the case of any contradictions between such legislation and this decree, this document shall take precedence. It was difficult for Lorien to describe he and Louis' relationship as anything more than superficial, but the loss of who he considered to be among his first friend in youth made his lip tremble.

T H E R O Y A L F A M I L Y O F Í L U M R I N Issued on the 10th of the Sun’s Smile, 228 S.A. By the Royal Bloodline of Caurost, House Ílumrin •────────────────────˖˖༻✶༺˖˖────────────────────• To the Denizens of Cauróst, Returning from a voyage of sea and stone, Rúmil Ílumrin, long-absent Prince of Cauróst and brother to the High Prince, has returned bearing tidings most rare and cherished. In his years of wandering, Prince Rúmil crossed the waters of Aevos and came upon a far isle from which our mother had hailed, where Elves dwell in peace beneath salt winds and starlight. Tʜᴇʀᴇ, ᴀs ᴡᴀs ʟᴏɴɢ ɪɴ ʜɪs ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ, ʜᴇ ᴛᴏᴏᴋ ʀᴏᴏᴛ ᴀᴍᴏɴɢ ᴛʜᴇᴍ, ᴀɴᴅ ғʀᴏᴍ ʜɪs ʟɪɴᴇ ᴄᴀᴍᴇ ғᴏʀᴛʜ ᴛᴡᴏ ᴄʜɪʟᴅʀᴇɴ; sᴜɴ-ᴋɪssᴇᴅ ᴀɴᴅ sᴇᴀ-ʙᴏʀɴ. It is with solemn joy and pride that I, Galahad Ílumrin, High Prince of Cauróst and patriarch of the House Ílumrin, reveal to the noble Houses of Elvendom the birth of my kin; Carnissëa Ílumrin (@Demonica), firstborn daughter of Prince Rúmil, whose grace and light have been likened to a pearl, and her brother, Túrin Ílumrin (@Tav), named after his grandfather Húrin Nullivari-Ibarellan, who shall remain in his homeland until his time of choosing comes to pass. Carnissëa shall walk the courts of Cauróst and be known among our people. Let her name be spoken in gladness, and let her presence mark not only the return of her father, but the renewal of our line, born anew from salt and steel. •────────────────────˖˖༻✶༺˖˖────────────────────•

u keep sharing this meme like ur making a point and I know going forward ur just going to be like "it's just an epic meme bro why so mad xD" but pls stop caurost = canonist influence in leadership and also has owed an explicit debt to the church for a while due to roleplay. they probably would not exist if not for the church which is where that debt comes from cnor = literally had a military alliance with haense? hnor = see moris comment krugmar = were hired as mercenaries, they offered themselves to haense but haense said no or something. also war is good for places who struggle with activity koyokuni = canonist human nation with explicit loyalty to the church urguan = don't know but they were probably just asked in rp to help (equally valid) also the fact that norland is even on there shows u should not have an opinion on this subject
