Nono, Shamans can no longer Power-game. We cannot 1 emote turn a wall into sand anymore & bury an army. On a serious note, while i cannot really comment if these changes make Templarism OP or not - since I've barely interacted with the magic & only seen it from afar in Events, I do think a drawback would be nice. Every magic should have one. Give it idk - exhaustion level per spell use, because you're doing some crazy athletic shit with your mortal body while channeling an Aengul's power. (This is a suggestion, not what I think should happen.)

Heyhey! Wolfy gave good advice - so i'll essentially add to them :D (it became a thesis) Finding groups is a good idea. Make friends & enjoy the RP with em! Events both social & others are good places to do so. It's a bit difficult at times to join a new community, but hanging out, going around & seeing what each nation region of the Empire has to offer is a good idea. Also, don't sweat not knowing things & do ask people. 90% of the time people are willing to help out a new player! That's a bit rough haha, but i assure you don't need to know a lot of it. There's a few player-bases/races that has their own language quirks & some go pretty in-depth with it. It's not mandatory, just a bit of spice for RP. The player you interacted with probably just wanted to show off the Ancient Elven & how cool it is. As Wolfy said - karin'ayla and ker'ayla are fine basic things. Do ask people if you don't understand OOC. Absoloutly. I'd even say it's a good idea to do so & take breaks from LotC, if you find yourself playing a ton of it! Do keep in mind that sometimes Events & especially Combat can take a BIG chunk of your time. Like hours. As for the 'optimal time', it depends from person to person. Sometimes there are big droughts of RP for you, where nothing happens & then you suddenly have 3 different things you got to do at the same time. A general rule i'd say is IRL>LOTC - as some people get way too into it lmao. Few other things to keep in mind: - As a new player, a ton of new information & how the RP happens & commands & what is 'good RP' will be thrown at you. It might seem a lot at first, but don't worry! Always ask if you need an explination or help. - Remember, it's a PG-13 server. Don't go crazy out there. - Talk to characters who got a pink-name, they're CT staff members & it's essentially their job to help you out. - Sometimes RP can get intense & people will get mega into it. Or are super busy & focused on something else. Don't take what happens IRP personally! - The server is most active starting from around 2pm-3pm EST, if you want to find RP that's the best time. You can use /realms activity & hover over the different places to see where players are. - If you ever make a goblin, hit me up >:)) This i guess is already a lot of information, but i guess a general idea is to explore, look around, have fun & experience LotC for yourself o7

Man, Uruk-player base is not allowed to have anything nice huh? Ologs are a rare sight in an already low-pop player base. Since my return to LotC 3 yrs ago & consistant play - i have met exactly 5 Ologs. I don't think this rewrite is going to suddenly change that fact or make Ologs a super popular & overpowered CA. Otherwise, i hold no opinions. I'm not an Olog player. Very cool.

I guess i'll speak from experience since i'm rn playing a kid character properly for the first time. Playing a kid called Witold who's aiming to be a Knight.(shameless plug - another post coming out soon of his adventures) I've had a lot of fun on him & met a lot of other child chars. I was asked to make him 7 instead of 5 when i started & i have turned back time like 2 years since i was busy for awhile IRL. He's rn 13, barely had weapons training, got tricked by a darkspawn & LOST to rat people. I think a big issue is that usually there's not a lot of kid characters around - i've been lucky enough to meet like 10. It's been fun & sure it's a bit memey time to time, it's ******* kids. They're goofy. I don't think 'kid genius' characters are as big of an issue - it's honestly whatever & sometimes kind of funny. You can dismiss it if it really bothers you. be an evil adult. The child-soldiers running around, killing demons and taking part of tournaments is a lot more weird for me. I've seen so many 8 to 11 yrs olds winning or almost winning tourneys because they're played by a good PVPer. So i guess i'm kind of 50/50 on it. Maybe raise the age to like 8. Gives you 2 months to figure out what char u wanna be & gives you 2 months of solid child-hood RP. (we all know you're going to play the same character anyway.)

TBH & this is just a general observation - i hold no opinions on this. I don't see alchemy very often. like no joke. I swear it was around more 2 years ago or so. Now it's only used for aurlic oils & vampire cures.

okay wtf happened, i thought we were having a discussion about wars & settlements & their mechanical functionality in an RP server? I like to joke & point out EoM(adunians) going after each group as well, but this is kind of delulu. It's fantasy & barely comparable. Relax. Take it to DMs or something.

While i sort of agree with both Javert & some things said by people in the comments, however IN PRACTICE one thing i think people keep ignoring is the fact that LotC players absoloutly suck major ass in getting organized - UNLESS you got insane clout OR you do things at the right time, having all the stars align constantly. In case of Empire of Azuras it was both - and it took around 1.5 years from Burgundy to Empire of Azuras. People downplay it but it's an insane monumental achievement. I agree with the sentiment that smaller wars are fun though. I think i've not had as much fun since rejoining after my 2018-2023 break, then i did with Heartlands Crisis (Petra v Aaun). But again, reality is often disappointing. I pray the eventual collapse of the Empire will be fun & engaging. (Though, let's be honest - people talk about empty keeps & builds if realm/settlement costs or signatures are lowered, but Empire is already full of them. Turn the 5 to 20 empty houses by your keep into farm-fields.) RANT(because i'm in a mood): From my own two-cents about war/settlements/ect.ect. I've been pushing for & fiddling with a goblin-town for over a year. The Horde was basically dead for the entierty of 2024 & most of 2025. During the past year, various things have happened that have impacted it's realization - some of them my own fault & some of them general world happenings. Both of them I am fine with, RP is RP & i hold no grudges against anyone for it. But it does get incredibly frustrating sometimes to juggle: - the groups interest (including mine) - necessary RP (aka trying to set up a meeting with the big dogs & there's a hundred layers for that because i'm a goblin.) - my free time (including others) - gathering money (without being blessed with 40 guys or ST mats) And this btw. isn't me trying to make a realm or a settlement or a lair - i literally want to dig a hole into a mountain or underground and put a bunch of huts up under a vassal of a 'vassal' of the Empire. Granted, i was given a few chances to just do it back in Aveos, but in my greed i pushed it back as it was close to map-end & i wanted it to be properly implimented.

I skimmed through responses & it's something i've thought about too, but i want to point out. right now, you can play your human char for ~2 years IRL already. I know you can longer but generally people tend to PK when their character reaches around 100 years old. That's plenty of time to do everything you want. If we went with 2 weeks per year & lowered human 'life expectency' to for example 80 yrs, it would be ~3 years. Also, i think such a decision would seriously hamper Childhood-RP. People who start at 5 yrs old, already get restless for their kid-character to grow up by the time they hit like 10 yrs old.
