  1. Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 were great but for very different reasons. If I could go back and choose one to play I'd choose Sonic Adventure 1. it was always about the gameplay for me and Sonic's movement in that game was genuinely great (especially the spin dash) but I think the story in Sonic Adventure 2 is peak and I wish they didn't cut so many scenes. I didn't really care for a lot of the other side characters (you watched me play Big) and their gameplay so I do wish that sonic's story was the largest. Sonic Adventure's open areaness was also really good and I missed that from SA2.. I'd also make sure to have it so that you can actually get a good tutorial on the mechanics (LIKE BIG'S FISHING MINIGAME). Sonic Adventure 2's visuals and story are genuinely superior in every way to the first game but the Sonic Adventure gameplay wise is superior which is why I'd choose playing the first one over again.. Regarding what I'd want to fix I'd actually want a larger game and for all the missing content I answered previously to be added back. regarding what I'd want him to look like we already talked about my philosophy on what sonic should look like (modern sonic at least) and I kinda think a render depends on how you frame it. You can give modern sonic some sauce like sonic adventure 2 they just choose to have that stupid 10 year old render in the same pose wagging his finger around bruh. I think they should bring back sonic's long quills and have his model look like Secret Ring's or his wreck it ralph model. Also I dont like it when they give sonic shiny shoes it looks weird. Regarding the other characters I always think Amy and Tails look weird to me. Amy's design is good I just think her quills need a redesign and the shape of tails head is always weird (he looks so weird in the live action movie) have you ever seen wright and dorado in the same room... no.. i think.. i might be onto something here.. O_O villorik.. r u.. a wizard??
  2. 1) Favorite books you're reading right now 2) Why you hate snails so much 3) Have you ever watched Lord of the Rings and do you think elves should take more inspiration from it in how they play their characters
  3. Absolutely not. What is that. I dont know what that is.

  5. The reason why you'll never see gun on lotc can be summed down to a lot of issues (or so you think) - It opens up new doors for other futuristic stuff to get approved (even though we already have robots) - People can powergame it really easy, carrying six guns at once - It shouldn't be something open to all players - Way too complicated to implement - Introduction of gunpowder is a bad idea - People would take IRL problems guns bring into RP here's the real truth The real reason is that it won't be implemented in my opinion is because of a reason no one's really brought attention to which is that if guns were implemented on lotc you'd see it break any concept of narrative. what I mean by that is that you'd see everyone using guns, which obviously can be taken as 'it breaks the meta' type argument, but what i mean that it completely breaks pre-established lotc themes. its like seeing elves being smiths and dwarves using bows jumping through tree branches like naruto. its like shamans never being orcs and humans having runesmithing. themes are something the server struggles with a lot because everyone kinda has an idea of what their 'narrative' should be. its why you see everybody and their mother having alchemy or robots in the streets of every human nation. or instead of attempting to heal injuries using natural means instead its always 'drink this potion' or 'heres this blend of botany herbs'. its just THE easy alternative that has zero to no downsides and is very easy to commit to, either that, or its standardized as the 'norm'. this is what i like to call the 'blending narrative'. whether or not this is a bad thing i wont say, im just pointing out the fact that it DOES exist. The Blending Narrative The blending narrative is a state of a narrative that doesn't follow its given themes. It takes its pride in the fact that it takes different parts of the server and melds them together in one place. I think the best way to describe it in an example would be that when a city/nation isn't afraid to show off the 'magical' parts of the server like having living dolls in its shop, golems working the tavern, and everyone having [robot bird on shoulder] in their prefix. There are plenty advantages to the blending narrative, and it worked well back in the day where basically every nation stuck to their own theme (golems stayed in dwarven cities, you didnt see a lot of elves in human nations for example, or at least they werent accepted), where subversion would surprise you and offer you avenues of rp to pursue. for example if im a human guard in a human city, and i see someone who is an orc in the guard, that opens up a lot of opportunities for me and that player. however with the oversaturation of this 'subversion' factor in a narrative comes with the cost that it becomes watered down and you have a place, or even a server, that doesn't even know what it wants to be. What I'm saying is that guns are such a complicated and sensitive topic on their own that it would open up an entirely new avenue for the blending narrative to go completely haywire. First guns, then.. spaceships..
  6. i think most players should try to do an event (player or ST) at least once since your perspective on events can change if you're actually the dungeon master for once

I always wanted to try but I need 2 get better at writing more fleshed-out and quality emotes quicker

@subatomici dont think you should stop yourself from doing events bc you think you arent up for the task. you can only get better at events by doing them. ive done plenty of bad events what really matters is if you learn from your mistakes. regarding getting emotes out quicker i think a good way to start would be to do the opposite. by getting used to getting emotes out quicker in general you can then start improving ur vocabulary by simply replacing words with more detailed ones. dont go for something bc it has more syllables but if it actually fits the message that you're trying to give for your emote. also dont compare your skills to other people's thats a bad trap to do
tl;dr dont wait on starting to write events or doing creative writing in general

short emotes are fine if you are dming. keeping emotes on the shorter side helps keep things flow faster. Things going too slow and taking too long (especially in big crp fights) can kill people's engagement in an event.

your biggest focus on event planning should be the actual narrative of the event not the emotes that tell that narrative. Well-described garbage is still garbage, but a poorly executed great idea is still pretty good.

  7. Well I don't believe in majority rules esp in LOTC. I've seen plenty of instances where large player groups have come out saying the same thing and just being factually wrong. This doesn't invalidate their feelings of course and yours shouldnt be invalidated either. I do think your main issue is just the fact you want to have your own community but you're afraid of getting insta-warred by the United Nations without much of a good reason. Lol I don't blame you for thinking its kinda annoying if you just wanna chill out and suddenly you get like three player groups constantly bothering your character. If I were to give you advice as a player thats been playing for multiple years, as messed up as it might sound, to just give up and integrate the community you're trying to create into a pre-existing nation. Honestly I think the server would do well if we had a handful of nations like we did 5-6 years ago but that's just me. You'd be surprised how many smaller player groups I've seen genuinely improve the rp and activity of a nation after joining them. And hey, if you still want to do your own thing, just give it time. Maybe after you build yourself up your character can try to make their own place with the community they have. I think something like that happened with haelunor? like it split into two--celianor and haelunor. Or like father circle leaving the wood elves in amathine to become the vale of nevaehlen. I think yong ping also did that after living in vortice(?) for a while, and they became like one of the most active nations at the time. Memes aside I would try to let go of the fact that you need to make your own place to have fun. you might still disagree with me and thats fine but i think you should get whatever community you have and try to integrate yourselves in a community on the server that will accept you, and in turn accept any dynamic avenues you might find in that nation (becoming a knight in a human place, becoming a smith in a dwarven place) rather than trying to build yourself up from scratch
  8. that's rough to hear. it sounds like you're having a lot of trouble trying to make a place/community to get the rp that ur character wants or something you as the player find more fun. someone will obviously correct me if im wrong but what you're complaining about is kind of a thing that can just sorta happen and has happened to plenty of other peoples communities. a lot of the stuff that happens is within server rules and the only reason you can really hold against your community being instantly wiped off the face of the earth with a giant canonist death beam is if the reason for conflict is OOCly motivated. i think being a lot more clear on this point would help with communication since your initial post imo made it seem more like you're just upset by the fact that a large majority of human players are able to control the tides of the server more than your own community is able to If i were to give you any advice i think the best thing to say is that sometimes these things just happen and to try and explore different avenues of rp maybe on other characters to try and find something else you find fun and maybe try again at a later point in time or just not play the server in general if you dont find it fun (you'd be surprised how many players still play the server despite the fact they dont have fun)
  9. @LoxyTheReindeer@Ryfin Chany I think ur both going through what I went through as a new player. i played lotc during a rough time starting out and felt like i had the illusion of control with my narrative. fact of the matter is u dont and u kinda gotta roll w/ the punches sometimes, thats ok cuz thats just the way ur supposed to play lotc and i dont think a lot of ppl understand that. obvs when unfair things happen (they happen a lot) its ok to call them out but I think ur saying a lot of things like they're facts when they're more opinionated. (there is no wii) U loxy seem to be going through a hard time irl and i dont think u should use lotc as an escapism. its a very bad mentality cuz lotc is the kind of place where you have an illusion of control, some players who have played for multiple years still dont understand this btw. for you yeetboy i think you should also think about that the server has also taken its inspiration from a lot of different things as well, including even itself which is a great thing (you should check out the shadow of israphel series if u dont know what that is very popular discontinued minecraft series that got a lot of ppl into minecraft rp). this is coming from someone thats rp'd pretty much everywhere from the pvp goons to the slice of life rpers and in multiple communities and not everywhere is going to make u feel welcome. one part of the server is completely and entirely different from another and it can shock players when they come into contact with this new 'alien world' and just say 'this is not how ur supposed to play'. truth is everyone can play how they want to, and thats why the server is epiccc i dont fault the both of u for ur opinions unlike some other ppl may in this thread, as i said i went through a similar thing. u just gotta take the good w/ the bad and the only REAL definite way to play the server is to close the forums, close discord, load minecraft and just play.

  15. TRIALS OF THE ROOST To Find a Guardian To Find a Keeper -=- OOC NOTE: This is an RP Opportunity for any player (not just a Druid) to participate in a series of multiple trials over the course of a week or two (or however long my character feels like doing it) to choose the recipient of two special items and titles. [!] The following is seen etched on a flat piece of bark somewhere in the realm of wood elves and in seemingly random places of the forest. DEAR MEMBERS OF THE DRUIDIC ORDER, AND ALL THOSE WHO SEEK TO PROTECT NATURE, Since I see dark clouds with my immortal eyes, I think it’s time to give some power given to me by both the Watcher and the power of nature I use. I’ll be giving a bunch of contests to decide who is most worthy to have that power. I’ll be picking two from the people that participate. One who shows me that they care for nature the most will be given the title of Keeper and given a special relic that is very important to the Druidic Order. The other who shows me that they care for faeries and animals will be given the title of Guardian of the Watcher’s Roost and will be made to stay there to protect the other faeries and me in the Glade of Hileia, and they’ll be given a piece of my power. THE FIRST CONTEST WILL BE HELD SOON. The First Trial will be held in the Watcher’s Grove on Tuesday the 25th at 3 PM EST (hint: if you don't know where that is try to ask around IRP near where Druids are like the vale or something)
