  1. ✠ THE HOLY CATAPHRACTS ✠ “The Dream that is Atrus” Contents: ✠ Introduction ✠ Recruitment ✠ Ranks ✠ Traditions INTRODUCTION The Holy Cataphracts are the sworn defenders of Sabattus. Holding an oath to defend the Lord Almighty, and all who serve, worship, or praise His name within the lands of Atrus. From the Manglivati who travel within the city on foot adorned in heavy armour to ensure the people are well taken care of, to the Domestikos who mount the armored horses of Sabattus in both ceremony and warfare. The Holy Cataphracts strive to defend those who cannot always do so themselves, proving to both the Lord and their individual self that their lives bear a holy purpose. RECRUITMENT Any who wish to join the Holy Cataphracts or learn the art of chariot racing simply need to contact the Stratos Patron, the Komes or any of the Ourghos. When doing so oocly, please mention your goals/ambitions and what you hope to get from the roleplay, so we can help set a path for you! If you are interested in that which is above, you can find the leadership in this discord: https://discord.gg/Gqjvmsa3FD RANKS Within the Holy Cataphracts there are a few roles to claim, each capable of being held by any defender within the ranks. The Defenders of Sabattus are a professional group, their prowess tested both in combat and ceremony. ✠ Komes This role is held by the leader of the Holy Cataphracts, appointed by the Stratos Patron and held until death or retirement. Acting as a guide to the Ourghos, the Komes helps direct and ensure the tasks passed down by the Stratos Patron are fulfilled. Should there be a change in the Stratos Patron or revision of the military, this position will always remain. [Should the Komes grow corrupt, through consent of the Stratos Patron and ⅔ of the Ourghos the Komes may be removed should the Komes refuse to step down] ✠ Ourghos This is the role held by those incharge of the Manglivati and Domestikos, training, mentoring, and recruiting the next generation of defenders. Each having a specific designation, and in times of war lead small groups of defenders. This role is meant to have a few defenders stand apart from their brethren, though isn’t meant to be held for an extended period of time. Ourghos are often rotating, some performing better during peace, while some performing better during war. ✠ Domestikos This is the role held by the Cavalry and Chariot Racers of Sabbatus who have proven their prowess on horseback. Each member of the Domestikos has the ability to be chosen as a racer within the Grand Sabato, so they are often seen training and honing their abilities along the tracks of Sabattus. Atop their prowess along the tracks, these men and women are feared among the battlefields for their unforgiving lack of mercy is etched along their ceremonial blades with numerous crimson crosses. Domestikos are often seen adorned in their golden armor, a purple cloak draped across their back. Even when not adorned in armor, Domestikos can be seen wearing the purple cloak given to them by the Komes. ✠ Manglivati This is the role held by the foot soldiers and city guardsmen of Sabattus. Also known as the initiates to the Holy Cataphracts, these men and women are simply in a state of training. All members of the Holy Cataphracts having performed the duties of the Monglivati can be called to take up the role of a foot soldier or guardsman, even in times of need the Domestikos are called to step away from their horses to defend the walls afoot. What separates initiate and Domestikos is the purple cloaks of the Domestikos, allowing the cavalry to still take pride in their abilities after having put in the work to earn such a title. TRADITIONS ✠ The Domestaka When a Manglivati has proven their worth defending the lands of Atrus, and showed their abilities atop horseback to a Ourghos they are ceremonially given the title of Domestikos. During this ceremony the soon to be Domestikos partakes in their first chariot race alongside his fellow Domestikos. At the end of the ceremony the Domestikos is bestowed a unique short sword wrapped in a purple cloak by the Stratos Patron. ✠ The Grand Sabata Held at the whim of the monarchy, this sponsored chariot race brings the attention of all in the Holy land of Atrus. Each racer and their weapon was hand picked by Sabattus politicians to represent themselves and their position in the city. For both racer and politician, the Grand Sabata often finds itself deciding the political standing of many in the city. ✠ The Koggen Initiates to the Holy Cataphracts often receive a warm welcome from their future comrades, most of the events to unfold during this tradition vary from those offering it to the initiate. Though the end result always has been the Manglivati spending a night meditating in the Holy Church.
  2. Hellllllllllllllllllllllllllllll ya, I look forward to seeing this city thrive!
  3. Good luck out there chief, you'll be missed <3
  4. Good to see the community doing some great work :) If you ever bring back Pots and Pandits lmk, ill gladly help out!
  5. I love it. (Obviously has the issues mentioned previous) When it comes to Ant's Offering, I'd probably add in the redlines that ologs cannot consume the brew. I can't imagine the things that'd be done with a 20x strength olog
  6. I honestly like that idea quite a lot. Not only that it gives a ton of RP, but also offers the ability for the resources to get spread out diversely while being easily regulated by ST/LT. (Say you want to give out 15 chunks a month, you just have the pool sitting there and ET/ST can pull from it for events until its empty)
  7. Hopefully you give the dwarves back what they deserve! +1. I really love the idea of having tools and anvils paired with a runesmith, not only does it make the smiths unique themselves, but it offers a chance for some truly spicy roleplay.
  8. I am all for having nodes that require a CRP fight/preparation! But before addressing that, I want to address your statement. When it comes to not having the CD times posted, that is the most detrimental to the players who cannot log on everyday. Solely because they cannot ever be given the chance to find a node to interact with, due to them always being locked down to a certain groups OOC knowledge and preset time. If someone were to camp a node, 24 hours a day, for upwards of 10 days, they without a doubt deserve that single chunk of lunarite, azhl, or boomsteel. But imo, that's impossible to maintain, and will eventually burn the player out. The reason I am in favor of the randomness is because it rewards those who are willing to dedicate time to afk, while also allowing more people to get involved with the nodes if they are lucky or put in the time to wait. If someone does not OOCly know the reset time, currently, there is absolutely no way of them to be able to interact with the node which is unfair to literally 97% of the server. Having people afk is obviously not fun, but its also still fair game once the node is unset. And theres no limit to the amount of people afking, and would likely lead to conflict before a node even resets. But now we have your ET Experiment...... I feel like, if you pair the random cooldowns with the event-like nature of mining the node in those experiments, that will bolster a very large backing. If the cooldown is short, making the fight harder. If it was a longer cooldown, make the fight easier. I absolutely love the idea of having the event, but at the same time, if its still only accessible to the first ones to interact that gives the same issue. When you conducted the experiements, was there a cooldown? Or could you interact whenever for the chance of getting a chunk? If there is a cooldown, what are your thoughts on limiting the cooldown only to those that interacted? (Say 10 people interacted, simply place their name into a ST ledger with the time they can interact again next to their igns) I will never back down from the idea that keeping the cooldown set to one week, and hidden is unfair. By nature, it brings OOC into RP which is absolutely awful IMO. If the people mining the node did not know when that week ended, it'd be more than fair. But in the current climate, a very large majority of players are unable to partake in the acquisition of ET materials outside of spending mina they don't have. By nature, not a single new player joining the server is even capable of partaking so long as the cooldown is known only to a few oocly. Having random cooldowns, atleast opens the door to allow everyone a fair chance at acquiring the material. Should a massive pvp interaction go down, that's a problem with LoTC's way of combating large RP iterations. LoTC's rules that disturb RP shouldn't be the grounds to OOCly ruin a players ability to interact. **My solution to combating those AFKing, is to make the nodes an active eventsite, if an ET were to catch someone AFKing nearby. They are allowed to do with them as they wish. If a player is truly afk, they'd be sent to the lobby within 15 minutes. If the player hasn't replied to the emote in that time and is still on the main, they are obviously still present and ignoring the emote. Which is against the rules to do (AFKing to avoid conflict/an interaction).** Edit: I'd also like to note, on Arcas, I was one of the biggest hoarders of boomsteel. I alone managed to accrue over 20+ chunks from Dingo's NPC mine (I love NPC Mines, should bring them back). As much as I like to believe those hoarding these resources actually use it, in the end I know from experience many just get thrown into a echest unattainable to anyone unless you pay an absurd amount. By the end of the map I still had around 12 chunks, and due to confusing rules I wasn't even able to transfer the items over. Hoarding has its pros, especially to the one with the items, but it also limits the ability for that item to be roleplayed MASSIVELY. For a solid month or two, I was the only provider of boomsteel weapons, items, and rp once Oren blew up the mine. OOCly I chose not to share much of it. Took a map change for me to realize that, hoarding is the downfall of RP. If ST nodes are farmed, and the item isn't RP'd. That takes a huge portion of the servers potential to RP away. Especially with items such as boomsteel, considering the items and events that can be created from them. I.E. An orc suicide bombing the dwarven throne room with over 30 people present. These materials are meant to be rare, but they aren't meant to be unattainable and unseen.
  9. To start, I probably was wrong in regards to not knowing that CD times weren't shown last map. When I read your reply, a lot of the issues you brought up are really real valid, but my problem lies in the fact that. More people literally can't get involved with the nodes. When the time is hidden, and a player doesn't have access to the ooc knowledge that no one is supposed to have, we run into the problem of an unattainable material being horded and monopolies forming. Now, I am always a stickler for not complaining a solution. And I quite literally did so like a dummy. What are your thoughts on a a cooldown that is random? Once the node is farmed, the ST doing the event simply rolls in a manner that the players can't see. Whether it be a /roll 7 or a /roll 14, whatever the number given is the number of days til the node resets. Obviously 14 days is rather long, so maybe 10 days, and to prevent the chance of an over abundance have a minimum require time of 3-4 days. (If you roll 1-2, it means a 3-4 day CD). A second roll can also be done out of 24, to determine the hour in which the node will be reset on the given day. Not only does this remove the issue of people using OOC information to their own benefit, it allows for that one random player who stumbled upon the node to get lucky. Making the hour of the day, and the day itself unknown allows for a very balanced option. And if a rally does happen to show up, right at the time of the reset or within an hour. You could potentially even find a leaker, I AM NOT SAYING THERE IS ONE, but if that problem were to occur its easily regulated.

    ST Nodes

ST Nodes... the source of wealth and prosperity for many players on this server, or so we thought! In reality, for every node, there is exactly one person that truly gets to farm the material. What? How is that possible? The CD Time isn't visible to players right? Well, your actually right, the cooldown time isn't visible to any player on the server. But, if you do any reading on the forums, you know that when a node is farmed, there is a 1 week cooldown placed down on the node from the time of farming. If you take a moment to think on that, you realize that means the person who farmed the material, knows exactly when they need to come back in order to farm the node again without worry of missing out. Why is this a problem? Can't someone just camp the node, and hope that they manage to be the one to farm it? Well, how would you like to travel thousands of blocks everyday to a point in the middle of no where, and sit in front of a rock doing absolutely nothing for upwards of a week, 24 hours a day? Absolutely no one can or should have to do that, and the odds that you end up being there at the moment of the reset are basically 0. Back on Arcas, the nodes often had the cooldown time posted. Which meant everyone who came across the node, knew when that bad boy would be resetting. I have no clue as to why the cooldowns were removed, but removing the cooldowns not only promotes the hording of a node to a single player. But it also removes the chance for a roleplay encounter to occur when farming the material. Well, if people have to start fighting over a node, everyone is going to bring massive rallies! You are absolutely right, but how many people, do you think would rally every week to go farm a node that only one person benefits from? Truly, that cannot last forever, and if it did, you'll likely end up seeing the solo's start to band together. I'm basically just asking for staff to reimplement adding the cooldown timers to nodes. There is absolutely no reason I can think of as to why they shouldn't be there or available to players when they /sreq the node. What are your thoughts?
  11. My fathers store, couldn't be prouder
  12. Was amazing to read, and I am happy to be required to upvote :)
  13. I like +1, I feel like if this is accepted it will start to create more of both an economical divide and bolster different styles of RP. When every mage has alchemy, there isn't a reason for them to seek an alchemist or buy their product because they can do it themselves. With this we will see Alchemy become more than just a feat, but a "magic" that requires a sort of commitment that will likely bring rise to larger alchemy based groups
  14. Interesting culture, look forward to running into y'all one day :)
  15. People of the Hill Deep within the vast mountain ranges of Almaris rumors have spread, bearing details of a large family lost to time returning without a word. In a matter of days this family had set up camp, building nothing but scrappy tents, campfires, and what appeared to be an innumerable amount of barrels granting them the title of Hillbilly’s. Peoples and nations from all over the lands of Almaris judged them from the outside, knowing not of why they chose to live in such an uncivilized manner. Throughout the encampment of these unknown people; laughter, brawling, and screams filled the air, bringing worry to those who were too afraid to confront the Hillbilly’s. Over the course of many years, the people of the hill continued to grow in number rather swiftly for repopulation appeared to be rather easy, though this only added to the worried minds cursing the land around them. One day, a young boy from this family bearing the name of Bo stumbled into the vast nations of Almaris with a mason jar in hand hoping to end the rumors that had reached his family bearing nothing but falsities. With a smile strapped to his face, Bo Jam walked every inch of the world as a living example of what it means to be a Hillbilly. Bo had many dreams and aspirations, peak among them was the idea of spreading the true meaning of the name Hillbilly. Way of Life Many people in the land of Almaris are known as simple, but when it comes to Bo and his family they are far from it. People of the Hill pride themselves on their moonshining abilities, passing on recipes, techniques, and stories from generation to generation in a never ending cycle of perfection. With moonshine holding the priority for Hillbilly’s, the remainder of their way of life revolves around this coveted drink, from the clothing they wear to the tents or small cabins used for sleep and mash storage. Hillbilly garb varies rather drastically from Hill to Billy, whether that be a set of overalls, sundress, or going shirtless everyone within this family loves the idea of loose fitting clothing. Everyday within their encampment men and women are seen hoisting barrels, cutting firewood, or mixing mash, so the idea of having anything but a set of loose garb is vacant within the minds of this family. Now, when it comes to grooming, the people of the hill are rather uncanny. Men often wear beards, muttonchops, and unnatural bald spots due to the effects of over drinking from the age of five. Women often can be seen wearing braids or ponytails atop their heads, but when the face and armpits are involved these females become rather passionate. Bearing rather large clumps of armpit hair, and even sometimes a faint mustache, these women are a force to be reckoned with. Life within the encampment is almost solely spent making shine, drinking the hooch, or teaching the next generation the history behind such. Hillbilly’s are also rather adventurous spending the remainder of the little free time acquired adventuring and exploring the world around them. Due to this, people of the hill often don’t settle down, so a well-built structure within one of their encampments is quite an uncommon sight making tents and tarps the staple home within. Looking from the outside in, almost everyone within Bo’s family appears to be related through blood, though in reality many of the people who are known by the title Hillbilly are related through moonshine. People of the Hill may call themselves family, but to be a Hillbilly is more than that, it is a way of life open to anyone willing to dirty their hands. Mindset The mindset of those Bo Jam calls family often is referred to as a myth for smiles almost never seem to fade from the face of a Hillbilly even in the face of hardship. Happy, gitty, and full of energy these people offer a very unique experience when running across one. People of the Hill are extremely passionate, and this passion ties directly into what they hold close. Family, Freedom, Friends, and Moonshine motivate these people to be what they are today. Should any of these passions be threatened, many would soon find that the people of the hill are that of a sleeping giant. Language Many often call the language of the Hillbilly uneducated, but in reality the language is simply relaxed to the point of no return. Taking on the title of a southern accent, the people of the hill often can bring a smile to the average person by simply speaking. Listed below are a few examples of how a Hillbilly speaks, should you choose to become one, your accent doesn’t have to match those listed for the accent you bear is unique to your persona. How are you doing today my friend? - How ya doin today fella? I am not going to eat that - Ah ain’t gone eat tha stuff Are you from here? - Ya from these parts fella? Wow this drink is amazing - Yeeeeeeeeehoooooooooooo, ain’t nothin like sippin sumtin like this right ‘ere! Location As stated before, Hillbilly’s are from everywhere, taking adventure to heart as they move from nation to nation. If you ever find yourself struggling to find a Hillbilly, simply follow the path of moonshine left in their wake, and in time you’ll find yourself deep in the heart of Bo Jam’s Family. 16. Absolutely amazing! But from a Lore standpoint, you might need to go more in-depth on the teaching of this in the redlines.
  17. Short, to the point, and provides a good reason as to why you should have it implemented into the server. I do agree with _hexe_ though, you will probably have to put some sort of requirement on the choice of redlines. As much as we all want to believe everyone usin this will be epic, there will always be a bad apple. I'd look to Witchdoctors for inspiration on this. They have a list of effects that occur after healing/fixing a limb or part of the body similar to your one list for animals born of different kingdoms, requiring one really bad effect and two minimal ones. (If I remember correctly) What you could do, should LT get picky, offer a 1 for 1 trade. For every positive trait that is passed along, require some sort of negative trait. Now these negative traits do not need to be linked to the animals, but it could take many forms to allow the creator freedom. Which I feel should DEFINETLY be maintained with this piece, as its built upon freedom/creativity. With this, you can add as many negative or positive traits as you want, though the requirement of negative traits is only maintained for when the creator chooses a certain positive trait. (If you want to add two negatives to a abomination, you don't need to give it positive traits, make that thang as messed up as you want!) Examples: 1. Vulture and Boar are combined. The following creature gains wings, at the cost of legs so small it can do nothing but walk. 2. Creatures from different kingdoms are already covered on negatives, with your provided list! 3. Tortoise and Cheetah combined: The following creature gains the speed of a cheetah, but has the airways of a Tortoise, only able to run at mach Jesus for a few seconds. Fingers crossed this gets accepted, because this is some spicy af lore, and I can see so many player/ET events created from it! +1
  18. Hot Take: Bring back bandit applications.

So people can do more as a bandit, and also remove the ability of new players to accidently get themselves banned

I don’t know how well that’d work now. We have sufficient protocol to prevent and/or punish poor RP.

good villainy requires good intentions OOCly: to create struggle and conflict without self-serving personal interest.
if you want to be self-serving OOC, play a good character IRP
