  1. V A H A S T R A BLACK GNOSIS A homebrew, late-antiquity, fantasy nations FRP Over a millennium ago, a lowly petty king of a backwater state on the Taloxatlan island was struck with a sudden drive. As legends go, the man would journey to the highest peak on the island, and there he waited. And prayed. And waited. Many days and nights past, all bringing new challenges - scorching heat, buzzards, and soon thirst, and hunger. But this man stood firm. His body began to fail, his mind began to doubt, but he did not move. Just as his eyes began to force themselves shut, perhaps forever, they were stirred by the passing of a great shadow. A thunderous crash rang out across the peak, and the earth shuddered in anticipation. The man looked up, and his gaze was met with that of an ancient golden dragon. But he did not quiver, for he knew this was his purpose. His hand instinctively placed itself on his snout, and the dragon bowed before him. “Let the world behold, and let darkness tremble! Our great work begins, and peace and prosperity shall follow forevermore - under the light of the Sun!” These legendary words spoken by Lightbringer Arkhelon, senior to the mountains themselves, to Kaloratlon - Firstborn of the Sun - were the genesis of a new world. Together, the man and the dragon took flight across the Mesogean, and through fire and light they laid the foundation of the next thousand years. The Anakhta Elraion had been forged. Founding Myth of the Elraic Empire —- (Music:) Map of the known world, featuring the Elraic Empire. (Red Areas are outside spawn) For over a millennium, civilisation around the Mesogean Sea has been under the shadow of the Anakhta Elraion - the Elraic Empire. From their position on the northern coast of Hekoretlos, their influence is felt on all the shores of the heart of the west. By no means has it gone unchallenged, but in the centuries of its slow and steady expansion, there have been very few true threats to the Empire - not with the might of the Lightbringer to defend it, as he has since its birth. However, a great many things can prosper under a shadow, as they have both on Hekoretlos and the northern wilds of Gerakunos. From the ashen mage-lords of Satyghrios, to the blood-drinking, demon-worshipping kings of Taloxatla, and the seaborne city-states all along the coasts that grow fat under the Elraic Peace, many have made their stake in the world, and none would give it up easily. On the fringes, the Empire may be ignored, even entirely unknown. But where civilisation is centred, all have been forced to make their own way of dealing with the preeminent power, whether it be with gold, supplication, or fierce resistance. And while doing so, they fight bitterly over that which the Empire does not yet deign to touch. It is into this rhythm that the world has settled, where lives are traded back and forth over fragments of an unreceding shadow. Many, especially within the Empire, see this as the natural state and fate of mortalkind. But change always comes, as it has many times even within the Empire, as well as those seeking to seize the reins of it. The year is 1048, the Year of the Fool, the year of new beginnings, of latent potential, of freedom - and of the precipice. It is an age where blood, glory, and wonder flow bountifully. One where a single, overlooked finger on the scales of fate may tip the balance, and the face of Vahastra be once again changed forevermore. —- Vahastra is a fantasy nations roleplay set in an eponymous homebrew world in its own version of Late Antiquity. The known part of this world is that to the west and north of the Elraic Empire, an ancient empire that venerates the Immortal Sun, Sehula, and the Emperors and Empresses that descend from her according to legend. This Empire is analogous to the Roman Empire at its height in terms of its geopolitical position, though not in structure. While most players will be outside the Empire, there are multiple spaces for those who may want to play within it as a “province”. The Empire is a patchwork in terms of its provincial governance, with appointed governors, integrated client kings, holy orders, and others all being present as internal stakeholders, and represented in an Imperial Council. However, most of the known world exists outside the Empire, and while it's presence is felt at least somewhat across it, there is a great deal of room for the independent agendas and needs of the many free kingdoms, tribes, and cities, who will be formed out of the majority of players and NPCs. Vahastra is heavily shaped by the multiple magics present in it, and the associated faiths and practices of the cultures that use them. Each magic type splits into two branches halfway up the tree, with each branch representing divergent schools, faiths, or practices that share a common origin. Chief among these are the light magics of what is commonly seen as a divine pair - the Sun Goddess, known in the empire as Sehula, and the Moon God, commonly known as Mehnos. However, across the known world every culture will have its own commonly practiced sorceries, and their own traditions and tales to explain them or venerate their use. With this being the case, while some nations are fully devoted to one magic, many have minorities or syncretisms that result in another magic of an entirely different sort also being utilised. To the end of representing this, players get one main magic branch, and one secondary branch. The world of Vahastra is also host to three races of humanoid - humans, and Dusii and Dawekii. Dusii are a less populous race shunned by many, for their origin is believed to come from the Stygioi. Their appearance tends not to help this, having flesh like stone, with more socially prominent ones boasting crests and floating, fiery symbols on their heads. They also boast an affinity with magic, though their bodies are a little more frail than those of their fleshier brethren. Dawekii are the stark opposite - though a little shorter than humans, they are far bulkier and more robust. They lack capability with magics other than Shamanism, Druidism, and the Stygian Arts, and they tend to be less capable of the more specialised skills of civilisation, though are by no means less intelligent. Both are by and large seen and treated as second-class citizens or worse in human civilisations, including the Empire, with Dusii tending to either live in that state or in reclusive, isolated city-states reflecting their low population, while Dawekii tend to live outside civilisation in Iron-Age tribes in the areas closer to the known world's frontier. Rules: No metagaming, powergaming, etc Persistent or targeted OOC toxicity will be punished If you have an issue with modding, take it up with the mod first Add the codeword ‘boink’ to the end of your application Try to avoid obnoxiously memey names for characters or places or whatever. As a rule of thumb for what’s obnoxious, if it being a meme isn’t obvious at first glance, it’s fine. Magic: As previously stated, you pick two magic branches - a main and a secondary. As seen in the above image, there are 10 magic trees, each of which have two sub-branches, all with an equal number of spells ranging in power from T1 to T5. These spells are cast by Adepts, who can cast T1-T3 spells, and Mages, who can cast up to T5 (with each individual able to cast only one sub-branch). Both of your choices are specifically of one sub-branch of a tree - you are able to recruit mages for your main branch, and you can also recruit them for your secondary if your sub-branch is in the same tree. For example, if your main branch is the Immortal Sun branch of Solar Magic, and your secondary is the Raging Sun branch, you are able to recruit both mages and adepts for both. However, if your secondary is outside your main branch's tree, such as having Immortal Sun as a main and Eternal Moon as a secondary, you can only recruit adepts for the secondary branch, and therefore only cast up to T3 spells in it. Almost all combinations are fine, except the following: Lunar Magic - Necromancy Lunar Magic - Stygian Arts Solar Magic - Necromancy Solar Magic - Stygian Arts Shamanism - Stygian Arts Vice versa applies When the game starts, you will start with only your magics' T1 and T2 spells unlocked, which can be seen on the below mechanics sheet. Progression will be explained in Discord, and feel free to ask away in there for any questions you have so you can pick your magics. Mechanics: Mechanics and Rules Sheet The mechanics may appear daunting at first, but please don’t be put off if they do - other players and I will be more than happy to explain anything, and there’ll be a player spreadsheet that will allow you to not have to worry about figuring out everything about the rules or doing maths every turn for your nations. Here’s a brief breakdown of some core concepts: The map will be available on Discord to choose your starting position. Application: Discord name (PM if you wish): Nation Type: (Kingdom/City State/Tribal) Nation Flag (optional): Nation Name: Are you in the Elraic Empire? (If so state in what way you're a sub-region of the empire - client kingdom, appointed/hereditary governor, military order, etc) Nation Culture (Brief description): Nation History: Nation Race (Human, Dusii, Dawekii): Special Characters (Up to 3, generals/mages/agents may be added or included if purchased with starting funds): Primary Magic: Secondary Magic: Unique Point of Interest (Unique "wonder" building/location/artefact, natural or otherwise, that will confer a small bonus TBD):
  2. This takes place in Amber Cold, 1780. [!] The wind whips a cold breeze through the streets of New Reza, the winter month is not forgiving. In the month of Amber Cold, a small woman hurries from a shop back home. Walking as fast as she could to relief herself from the freezing cold inside her warm house. Althea held onto her stomach, being 9 months pregnant did not help her movements. Thankfully she got back inside her home, quickly closing the door as soon as both feet were inside. Shivering slightly, she places 5 logs into the small stove stoking a flame to life. “Demetre no one has entered the house right?” She asked the dog that mauled on a bone, cringing at a small snap. The dog looked up giving a bark at her turning back to the chewed bone. Althea sighed, “I wish Darien would come back, I don’t know when the little one will pop out.” Rubbing her stomach slowly, she pulled out a small pot to cook some stew in. Bustling around the small kitchen she worked, cutting up potatoes and carrots, de-boning a rabbit before cooking it above the slowing fire. As she finished stiring the stew, a knock came at the door. Silently, she hoped it was her husband returning from his trip. When Althea opened the door there stood her friend, Elizabeth, in her casual outfit. “Hello Lizzy, care to come in?” Althea asked, being polite and letting the girl walk into the home before closing the door behind her. The hour soon passed, both bowls lay empty. “I hope I find Darien before the baby arrives.” Althea spoke, resting her hands on top of her stomach. Lizzy comforted Althea, talking for another few hours lifting the worries of her shoulders temporally.
  3. This is a series of entries in a journal that are written by a historian about Sirame Khel. They will be entered into the grand library of Dragur upon the event of Tide Falkmoor’s death or that of the order. (OOC: so you can't use this information until Tide Falkmoor has died) On the 15th of the deep cold, 1780, Sirame Khel was founded. There was no fanfare or celebration. This order would forever hide in the shadows, protecting itself from prying eyes. At the time there were only three dark elves whose only connection was their hope for the future and their belief in the honor of the Ashen Folk. Their names were Tide Falkmoor, Salaron Chaeydark, and Selmas Chaeydark. They pledged to change the world and the fate of their race. Salaron Chaeydark was a brazen, tall, and haughty ‘Ker. He believed that the dark elves should be proud and thought that an open assault upon the order of the realm would soon be necessary. He wore dark leather and carried with him a short sword. He spoke with great conviction of the plans of the order and was determined to see it as far as he could. Little did he know that his part in the story would end sooner then any would think. Selmas Chaeydark, the sister of Salaron Chaeydark, was a quiet, younger ‘Ker. She had a full and loving heart and wished to help the growth of Sirame Khel because her brother was invested and she believed in helping those poor and powerless. She would speak slowly as she then could not speak common as well as most but still understood more about the future of Sirame Khel then any other. Tide Falkmoor was a sly, quiet ‘Ker. He, unlike Salaron, believed that the authority of Sirame Khel and of the Ashen Folk could only be grown through slow and gradual growth. He was a poet, a singer, and an expert swordself. For Tide, the world changed through words and not actions. He considered fighting to be beneath him and through his methods, the power and influence of Sirame Khel would grow exponentially. His speech was always considered and careful. Yet beneath this veneer of genteel, cultured, intellectualism hid a vibrant, dangerous elf who, when faced with a challenge, would forge forward no matter what obstacles stood in his way. While not evil, Tide Falkmoor would never shrink from any method so long as he got what he wanted. This small group of dark elves immediately began building a network of elves and spies. At first success seemed inevitable. Elves flocked to join. Sirame Khel even made a deal with the leader of Ker’okarn to gain land in the city of Krugmar. There they began to build the tower of Sirame Khel. This would be the place where the members would meet met for many years. However, tragedy struck sooner than any would have expected. Salaron Chaeydark was slain during a moonless night by a faceless guard. This death destroyed Selmas Chaeydark. She had lost her father only a few years earlier. Now she was without family and for the Ashen Folk, family is everything. This also meant that the order of Sirame Khel had lost someone who was important to the cause. Tide Falkmoor was determined to continue the order in memory of his friend. He was now the sole leader of Sirame Khel and as a result, the methods of the order would from then on would follow only his philosophy of quiet subterfuge and would avoid antagonizing any group, race, or nation. However, Salaron would always remain at the heart of the order, leading it in his name. His excitable spirit would guide the order towards higher heights and would never be forgotten by those who followed the order. The Tide A poem written by Tide Falkmoor at this time. Roaring waves, Pouring over deep red stones. Slow water, Flowing into sharp wide cracks. For years, the tide has risen, Yet now waves lap on shores. Sparkling drops, Flying orange in bright rosy light. Streaming rays, Turns oceans to gold, Rocks to pillars, And fish to angels. When water hits a wall, Mountains move. Entry one of “The History of Sirame Khel and its Rise to Power” by Selion Drogon.
  4. You open up Althea’s diary scanning through the pages absentmindedly, till you stop on a page with a drawing on it. [!] You look at the drawing, trying to figure out if Althea drew herself or if someone else had doodled her.
  5. [!] A letter has been sent to you detailing the events of the 200th anniversary of the Kingdom of Haense and the days forth coming. Dear friend, I am writing to you to tell you of some very happy and strange events that have happened to me. On the day that I send out this letter these events have already passed, but for me they are still ever fresh in my mind. Yesterday was the day of the 200th anniversary of Haense. With that I had hoped that I could enjoy it with friends. That part had fallen short, and I was left to watch everyone enjoy the day spent. Suddenly, a new face showed up in front of me. His name was Lynx, and almost immediately he flirted with me. Though I pushed passed the flirting to just chat with him, he ever continued to persevere a love that wasn’t for him. After taking me to the tavern to grab a drink, to which I didn’t care to drink at the time, he lead me outside of the walls and to the bridge to the left of the entrance to New Reza. There was where he confessed that I had a great beauty, and to which I told him I already had a lover. Lynx soon left me alone, and went about to his own devices. Later, when I came back into town and groomed my pets I saw one of my friends chatting with a HRA soldier. I gave him a friendly smile and motioned for him to come inside the tavern to have a chat. And to which we did, Corann and I talked about the happenings of earlier that day. As I talked about my lover he used the word future-fiance. To which I continued to tell him that it was Darien’s choice as to if we would get engaged. After some friendly banter back and forth, I heard Darien’s voice from outside the tavern. I got excited, cause my friend Corann has only heard of Darien and never met him. So after speaking to Darien and taking him inside, I introduced him to Corann. I prayed silently that they would be friendly to each other, and they did. For a few good hours, we sat and chatted with each other. Twice Darien was called out for some work, which I didn’t mind. After Corann and I said our parting goodbyes Darien approached me and told me to go wait at my house for he had a few items to pick up before he took me out on a picnic. This I didn’t mind so I went back to my home and switched my clothing and took off some of my jewelry. I waited for Darien to show up, and in no time he did. He took my hand and led me out to a small boat. Darien rowed us out to the middle of the large lake. There is where it happened, he got down on one knee and took out a small box. My eyes started to water, for I knew what it was. And to me he said, ”Althea Tozzer, since I first laid my eyes on you I have loved you. Ever since we have started dating I have seen myself become a new man.” I already had small tears trickling their way down my face. ”I wish for us to grow old together, so would you marry me?” I had said yes almost immediately, he had picked me up and spun me around as my head was nestled into his shoulder crying tears of joy. Darien placed me back onto the boat, throwing a fur over my shoulders before rowing us back to the shores of New Reza. He soon lead me back to my home before asking, “Which house should we move into, yours or mine?” To which I said mine, since it was his childhood home but I told him about the fault of the basement floor feeling hallow. So we agreed that I would move into his home. Then while he was checking out my pets, I was collecting a few items to bring to his house first. For the next few days that is what it consisted of, bringing my items into his home. While I was bringing things back to Darien’s home he asked if I could do interior decoration. I told him I could, so he left me with the job of re-decorating the house as well as reorganizing it all. That is just what I did, now the house feels like a home to me. I hope to start planning the wedding soon, but I also want to have Darien’s agreement on it all. Sending many blessings your way, Althea Frostfire
  6. Long has it been since the Legions of Atem have swept across the realms of the Far East. From the Gray mountains to the Dnedic Coast, they leveled every fortress, besieged every city, salted every land which dared to resist. Upon the fields of Mercath, where Prince Orin fell, the final embers of resistance were extinguished. But behind conquest’s iron boot, came civilization the likes of which had never graced the Far East before. Great roads, monolithic temples, and sprawling libraries took root, spreading rapidly across the region. Yet in adherence to the laws of the universe, nothing is destined to last forever. The rule of Atem, like all things, crumbled beneath the weight of its own power. Hundreds of years of conquest, washed away in mere decades. That which exists now is naught but a shadow of what once was, marauding warlords, jockeying for power over the decaying corpse of an empire. New states and peoples, long since oppressed, enslaved or, perhaps in positions of power, the sole guides of their own destiny. Upon which paths they will tread, none can say… Relevant Links: Restricted Spawning Area Rules Setting Keep your eyes peeled.. Ater: The far east, a continent as old as the mantle itself, as long as history has existed, so too has Ater. Home to staggering wealth, vast empires, and countless points of interest. Though it may be home to many millions, great secrets still remain to be unlocked. The far east is best described as temperate, many regions benefit from long summers, others, harsh winters, though most of it is habitable to some degree. Technology: The golden age of technology and science has long since past, its innovations faded into obscurity, though its remnants still remain scattered across the vast continent. The inhabitants battle with spear and shield as they have since the beginning of time. Magic: A wild, untamed, and barely understood art. Very few are blessed with the ability to tap into the mysterious force known as magik, and even fewer to spend countless years studying and perfecting such a practice. As old as the mantle itself magik, though powerful, is unpredictable and above all else, dangerous. Unexpected outcomes are an ever present reality. Such nodes can be portrayed as anything from livestock, to sprawling fields, or large fishing industries. Points of Interest: Denoted on the map with a black-red dot, Points of interest represent a large variety of things, such as ruins, geographical wonders, great buildings, etc. Many of these locations are treacherous, others may provide great boons. These will be hidden during the application phase, as to not influence decisions. Humanity: The most plentiful race by far. Men have existed for as long as time itself, and populate nearly every corner of the world, including Ater. However, the origins of these peoples are ancient and how they are affected by the great passing of time is unknown. Variations of the standard man are known to exist, and inhabit several sections of the continent. 7. Modern Nations; 2020 The year that begins it all is hardly important. The people on earth in 2020 are changing, adapting. The human world is always growing, climbing to new heights. But they’ve all been taking great leaps, gigantic strides. Before the industrial revolution the global population was nothing. Nothing compared, billions upon billions of humans. The world grew smaller as humans rose. Nations are always at one another, striving to be victorious. The twentieth century proved just how deadly war can be. Weapons have grown even further, always becoming more deadly. Who would of thought the atom bomb was just the start? However with all this new power came more fear. Fear of the end of it all. Some are blind to that, some will see their own ways, and some plain don't care. But the good of humans could see war could lead to their destruction. Sadly nowadays however, nations find ways around total destruction. Before being disbanded, the UN had made great strides in nuclear disarmament. But the world has grown too complex, too independent to submit to a higher council. Modern nations are a complex mix, but war was still in the picture. Weapons of mass destruction are set aside, nuclear bombs disarmed or hidden. Such a massive wall blocking them gone, the way opened. Diplomacy, trade, war, politics, they are all sides of the same coin. Though the world was connected, things are breaking down. Perhaps not in any sort of chaos, but in relations. Trade was important, but it was becoming harder to accept other nations agendas. The times of nations like the United States collecting foreign military bases is gone. Nationalism is rising, in some cases not for the better. All across the globe camps are being made, lines drawn. It's not all descending into war and chaos, however. It's the modern age, and more complex then that. To form groups was to survive, to have a feeling of security. It could also lead to far worse conclusions. Some nation states will be flames, to which many are drawn. It is not all about power anymore. Small states can come to prominence if they can follow the world's currents. In fact many larger states are far from ideal. It was becoming hard to administer so many people, govern so much land. It also however presents a large pool of supplies to use. Too paint a picture of the global landscape nation leaders finds themselves in, it all begins in Europe. As a testament to the souring relations across the globe, Europe holds the prize ribbon. At the start of the global decline, the European Union had taken too many steps backward. So many different views and factions, all trying to achieve their goal. Refugees from the Middle East wars, and a decline of currency sealed their fate. Now Europe’s a mess, and divided. Mainland powers like the French and Germans have kept to their own borders. Their economies are collapsing, as trade breaks down across the mainland. Smaller nations are better off, though they find themselves surrounded by potential foes. In the UK the English are better off. Keeping to the pound, and thanks to their brexit they had rode ahead of the economic storm. However it did not mean they were not affected. They find themselves alone on their Island, with a hostile mainland. Their focus is in politics, against internal independence factions and abroad. With Europe in everyone's minds, the Middle East is in a similar yet different state. Syria and Iraq are still a hotbed of action. Terrorist have until now been beaten back, and calmed. A U.S led coalition had destroyed ISIL, a resounding victory. But now there was no global coalition, no peacekeepers. Power was waiting in the heart of the Middle East, for any who would take it. Iran, Saudi Arabia, and others like them are far better off. Oil was still booming, and the magnates were still rich. They have developed, though they still mainly rely on an uncertain [but still rising] oil trade. Now it was a competition amongst the oil giants, a quiet struggle. For now. Contrary to the global climate, Africa has seen a bit more prosperity. Unification movements were strong, particularly in the south. African states were just now developing, tapping into [in some cases] vast reserves. If they could rise to prominence, it would be through becoming modern. Other states are still different. States like Morocco and the Congo, where their military has become much stronger. It is important to note that these states are already undergoing development. It would be nearly impossible for a warlord to grab power. Africa is a filled with diverse and powerful nations. In Asia, nationalism is strongest. However states are keeping to what they have been following. Not many would submit to an Imperial sovereign. It is instead all about trade, and who's with who. China, the sagging giant, still maintains a grip on its borders. Rebellions against their government are at a high. Though the army remains loyal. They could contain it, but at a cost. Other states like Japan and South Korea are more stable. Their economy is on the rise, and political goodwill still hopefully remains. Japan's agreement with the U.S had been ended however. Japan stands on a crossroad. To re-make their constitution, to rebuild the Japanese army. To have an army, or the money? The United States is in a far worse state then China. The elections are coming, and various factions are at each other’s throats. The two party systems have been shattered, after too much inaction. The U.S has an uncertain fate. More importantly now in the west, is the Latin Revival. After some stable states finally developed, they hit an economic boon. Small states like Panama are on a steep rise. Mexico's republic has been fixed, and they began to deal with internal strife. South America is in the same growing state, though it is divided into camps. States like Brazil or Argentina could find themselves blocked by coalitions. The world is changing, will people change with it? I hoped everyone enjoyed a little back-story to paint the picture! I decided to make a modern nation frp because it's been a while. It has been discarded, but I intend to bring it back in Terra. What I hope to do that will make it worthwhile to commit and keep posting is simple. A responsive mod team, to actually commit. Think how much fun it would be if you had a mod to answer you, to even make side events and respond to what you do with events. It has been done before and quite well, but it works both ways. To apply and begin posting is to commit. I will always make sure you have a reason to post, some event or response. Of course any and all who wants to try a hand at making events and responses [a mod if you will] can contact me! Keep note the actual Frp may not launch until I feel enough players and mods have committed. I won't play as any nation, purely a mod/event man. Though there is a slight picture painted, this FRP is by no means locked to the past. Things can be changed, and do not always have to follow history. Do what you want with your nation, and see what happens. I'll keep the OOC short, and can expand it if people have good questions or points. Most rules are pretty simple but a few to take note of; > No weapons of mass destruction >Research is done by Page time > In United States players must start as a party leader running for president in the 2020 elections. The night would have been full of laughter like curon nights were always, until he heard a sound hitting the window behind him. He turns himself around and notices a dead messenger pigeon with a note attached to its feet. Eric would open the window and take the note from off the bird's foot and what catches his eye first is the official seal of curon on the letter. To Erics surprise inside the note be an official call to arms. Eric would have been sent on a mission Like always Eric would obey his king and begin gathering his armour and supplies for the trip. The next day Eric would set off on horseback and wouldn't be seen for awhile. Days turned into weeks, weeks turned to months, before one day the sound of hooves could be heard on the path leading into curon. It would be the very horse Eric set off on his mission on. But one thing would be different, atop the horse would not be Eric's body, but instead it would be his corpse, laying lifeless atop the animal. The armour Eric wore would have about a dozen holes and slashes. The brave knight that served his kingdom for so many years, and who was loyal for so many wars, was dead…. Usually the nights of curon would usually be filled with noises, laughter coming from the tavern, crickets chirping from the park, the sound of boots hitting the stone paths. But this night was different. The tavern would be silent, the crickets wouldn’t make a noise, the roads would be empty. On Montagne lane stood Eric’s house, a single candle lit on his desk. It too would be silent, the bed where someone once slept, would be empty. On Eric’s desk would be a stack of papers, a journal that was not finished, and never would be. Next to Eric’s journal would be a small leather book, the book would be opened to the first page. “Curon is a bear, a bear that has grown, from a cub struggling to stand up, to a brave and respected boar. This bear stands strong, stronger than everything that attempts to bring it down. It thrives in a world full of different cultures, full of different nations and races trying to survive. “ “I write this in advance for I have no idea when the end is to come. I write this peacefully of my own will. I write this as my little story, for whoever finds this notebook, and for whoever they shall show it to. I came to curon when it was only a tent camp, I watched it grow just like the bear cub. I stood by it with many others and guided it on its path. I fought many battles alongside this bear. I stood by it until my end. . .” “To those I hold dear, I wish for you to not remember how I die or my death itself, I wish for you to remember the times we spent. Times we spent whether it be good or bad. I wish for you to remember me not for what I did in my life, but for who I was and who I became during it. “ [!] The writing next would be written in an unusual style. It seems each letter is tilted to the right. The last sentence would appear to be pressed deep into the notebook’s pages, much darker than the text above. To the steward that finds this book, please show it to the people I knew. Please show it to them so that it may fill them with a slight bit of happiness. Tell them that my job is done and that there will be no goodbyes, because goodbyes mean going away and going away means forgetting. [!] Below the text would depict a sketch of a polar bear cub. (ooc Thank you everyone who helped me with Eric, this was a fun character to play) PS I know I said boar, look up the term for adult bear

  11. It all started that night, an Emperial night, a night of loss, death, torture, and hell. That night was her end, that night was the night I started. It had all started that night. The winds were blowing thundering past every house, a march was heard as all the happiness drained. The dogs, were howling, fire. Fire from the hatred of the Emperor, his torches burnt, many fled. The blood was shed. That night was the night mother said her farewells, to me, to sister, to this world. Her sickness had grown, she could no longer walk, so she packed our bags, gave us the locket her mother had given her. She stayed, smiling, yet crying as the people pulled us away. Fire. Blood. Cries. Death. The Emperor had already won. Darkness fell, I fainted. Only to wake up, Urguan being my new setting, the only words coming out my mouth being “S- s- sister?!?!” “Yeh sister beh wi'd 'e Elves Lad, sheh beh safe t'ere.” spoke a man, a small man, he was a dwarf. “Meh name beh Flynn Treebeard, Urguan 'nd 'efrumm Med'ehc. Yeself'ns?” “A-I I'm Adrian DeLaForesteNoir.” he answered, scared, bewildered and lost. That was the first time a dwarf had been across from my eyes, and the first time sister and mother weren't smiling with me. This was the first time my eyes truly became a waterfall of misery and loneliness, a secret place showing himself, I screamed, I cried, the realisation that mother was gone crossed my mind at last. That night, that night was finally over as I fell asleep in the arms of Flynn. That night was over and I knew I'd meet sister again. I had fully turned towards Anbella. Me, a human now called myself a dwarf even without the blood throughout myself. That night had changed my life, whether for the best or the worst, I am still unsure, but that night was my tragedy, and my new joy. That night, I am now thankful for. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi! 12. Gods and Men ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- ((Link to Roleplay Forum--- Gods and Men Basics In Gods and Men, you take the form of one of the gods, fighting and creating, learning and forgetting, possessing kings and nobles, and the most important, fighting and working together with the other gods. There are two ways of winning: 1: Creating a pantheon Afraid you might not be able to win? Want to play it safe? Well then, my friend, you've chosen the right path! In order to create a pantheon, you and your allies must be the sole remaining gods. If all enemies are defeated, you and your other gods rule the world, and over the races of the world. 2: Becoming the Ultragod Yes, that is what I'm calling it. Not one for alliances? Greedy as can be? Well then, my friend, you've chosen the right path! In order to become the Ultragod, you must destroy the other gods, claiming the throne for you, the one true king! Sadly, there is more to it than fighting the others. The path of the gods is not an easy one. There is much micro-managing involved: You have to take care of your people, nurturing them and helping them as much as possible. The others will obviously try and stop you, but you must prevail! Cities will fall in glorious battles, and new ones shall rise through the hard work and labor. But, be weary, for the only thing keeping you a god is the peoples faith in you. If they do not worship you, you simply fade. If none cares for you, you have none left to help. It's game over. You lose. The others can try and send missionaries and priests to convert your populace, but you may do the same as well. Keep your people happy, and they worship you as the righteous god you are! Torture them, and they shall turn you into a demonic figure. Send prophets to increase faith in your populace, missionaries to destroy your enemies, and inquisitors to remove the plague of heresies! But, you will not take this path alone. On your explorations, you will discover the others, and what route you take depends solely on...well, you! You could introduce this new god to your people, showing him as a great and glorious figure, or cast him into the abyss, slandering his name as the face of chaos. If you do decide on an alliance, there is benefits, and there is consequences. The benefits are increased worship all around. With more people, the more faith you inherit. But the consequence to this is that you must share it. It is dangerous, but necessary for a pantheon. An equally powerful enemy wouldn't prove too powerful, right? Alternatively, you could also destroy this enemy. The benefits are obvious. You gain lands, riches, and get to keep the faith all to yourself. Plus, you could inherit his/her symbols. The rewards are great, but the risk you take is not one to take lightly. Although you could win, there is a possibility you could lose. Losing means you become a taboo figure, losing all your power and your kingdom. You become nothing more than the god of a deranged cult, therefore eliminating you from the game, or fading you. There is also corruption. Corruption in your kingdom grows in the governments you do not pay close attention to. Too much corruption, and the people may go so far to rebel! At first it starts as unhappiness and unrest, but grows and spreads as your people anger. Perhaps you've heard me speak of micromanaging, and you wonder how you, such as yourself, could possibly even begin. This is where possession and creation come in place. You may create a hero, and observe your kingdom from it's political powerhouse. Create a peasant and control your kingdom from its rotten underbelly. Either way, you must be able to observe your kingdom, and you must be able to regulate laws. You may wonder "What's stopping me from making it illegal to not worship me?" and I will tell you. Nothing. But, be warned, if the people feel controlled, they may begin to grow unhappy. And do you remember what happens to unhappy people? Rebellions. Mass suicide to prove points. Uprisings and plunderings. Do you really want that? If you didn't notice by now, I have yet to use the word "Humanity" because there can be more than one race. You may create any race, and show them your ways. The only thing keeping you apart is a slight application. I'm afraid we can't have everyone going around creating new races. The way this works is you can take one of your pre-existing races, and modify them to your hearts content. Then post the application here, and wait for acceptance. Now you might be wondering how I might handle all this by myself. Truth is, I can't. I can't make events for everyone at the same time. That's where the playerbase comes in. You can apply to be a Story Master and help struggling nations, destroy powerful ones, and help with all the minor stuff like judging a nations corruption levels, happiness, riches, food, and advancement rate. I will need at least 3 Story Masters before we start, and a few nations. There are 3 stages during this roleplay: 1: The Growth Age During this age you have just founded a shard, world, etc. and you create your first people. You begin to grow your nation, and help your people prosper from barbarians and savages, to villages and twons. 2: The Discovery Age During this age you begin to explore, and discover the other gods. You find competition and friends. Your people begin to become civilized, developing a culture now. 3: The Peoples Age During this age, your people are now mature and play a major role in your survival. You begin to fend off the others, and join with other factions. This is the longest age, and ends when someone/a group wins. Note: Although I explicitly speak of faith to destroy your enemies, you must realize you may also destroy the others by destroying their kingdoms and nations. With no people, they will not survive. Now that all that is covered, time for the applications: God App Name: Symbol (Water, plants, fire, etc): Race (Default human): Nation Name: Nation Symbol: Nation Terrain (Plains, desert, etc): Race App Name: Originating Race: Features (hair colors, etc): Skin Color: Story Master App Do you have a god?: What experience do you have with leadership?: Give me a minor event for a prospering powerful city: Give me an event for a weak, failing city: Why should I pick you?: Do you promise to not cause events to your own nation, if applicable?: Please note that anyone breaking the rules will be warned. If it happens again, they will be blacklisted and are stripped of their characters. 1. No PG/PE/MGing 2. Be nice and respectful 3. Do not or try not to base your religion around IRL religions 4. Keep numbers realistic. If we find you are unable to do so, a Story Master will be assigned to give you the numbers. 5. Have fun! 6. You must follow the age limits. First age, no talking with the other gods. This isolation is so you can develop you're cultures. Second age, minimal meetings are to be held. These are strangers to you. In the third age, we are not restricting any meetings. Talk as you like Feel free to leave any questions in the comments. This is, after all, OOC. All other OOC posts will be posted here. 13. World In Flames 1933 The Reboot! Prologue 12 years ago, the War to End all Wars officially concluded with the Treaty of Versailles. However its name was far from misleading. Its end only brought about more bloodshed than ever before. The great empires of Europe had been exhausted and depleted from the fighting, drained of much of their strength; Their public weary of war. Coupled with the extreme economic downturn of the 1920s, the world was plunged into chaos. In China, the disintegration had long preceded the conclusion of the Great War. Following the death of Yuan Shikai in 1916, the country was torn apart by competing warlords and political movements. In the north the Fengtian Clique makes massive gain, against both what remains of the central government, as well as Communist guerillas based in Taiyuan. In the south, the government loses ever more influence as the warlords of Guangxi, Fujian, and Jiangsu tighten their grip on the more industrial and developed region of the country. In The United States, extreme economic hardships brought on by the Great Depression bred radicalism and contempt for the government, this came to a head in October of 1930 when radical communist, syndicalist, and socialist rebels stormed the capital in Washington DC. Though the rebellion had little sustenance, it prompted a chain reaction that rippled through much of the industrial north and rustbelt. In a matter of months, the rebels had dealt devastating defeats to demoralized and disheartened federal troops. With faith in the federal government eroding rapidly, southern and west coast states systematically broke off from the failing government. Though on the verge of collapse, the rebel onslaught was eventually halted at the Mississippi and a stalemate set in. After roughly 2 years of fighting, a shaky peace sets in across the former United States. In Europe a new ideology rises across the former central powers. Sweden, after being robbed of honor and territory during the Great War is toppled, a fascist dictatorship taking its place. Italy, Hungary, and Germany are no exceptions either; as all three see rise in similar regimes. The Balkans too remain ever heated, as Austrian and Hungarian claims to the old empire remain ever prevalent and their bitter rivalry continues. The British isles are engulfed in chaos, similar to that of the United States as Ireland and Scotland declare separation from the Empire amidst extreme hardship. Their rebellions have proved relatively successful, the Irish have liberated all but a few ports, where only the might of the Royal Navy cements British influence. Scottish forces to have pushed past their own boundaries, dealing a series of surprising defeats to the British. In The Middle East tensions rise, an Egyptian revolt forces the British out of the suez and much of the province itself. The Empire in scrambles can do little at present to stop it. In Ottoman Arabia, the decaying Empire’s grip continues to loosen as independence, and Arabian nationalists threaten to boot the Turks from the region entirely. Chapter I: The Clouds Gather Going into the new year The British Empire: The pressure of economic hardships brought on by the Great Depression has pushed the long dominant British Empire to its edge. Even the vast wealth of the colonies cannot blunt the damage. The British Isles are where this is felt the hardest. Though recent economic trends show that the worst is behind them, the Scottish and Irish are still in stalwart rebellion! All while the average man suffers from hunger and unemployment. Despite all of this, British military might is no less formidable. With chaos in the Americas, the British are left as the sole and undisputed global naval power. Truly, Britannia rules the waves! On land, the British Army is still at its core a hardened and elite force, though it is overwhelmed with conscripts and volunteers in recent years.. Mechanization in the army is also rather lacking, and tanks are far and few between. The German Reich: With the ascension to Adolf Hitler to the Chancellorship, he has spent no time putting the suffering German economy to work. The unemployed are now sent to factories where ‘tractors’ and ‘convoys’ are pumped out on an industrial scale. Though the effects of the Depression are slowly being overturned, the country is far from where the leadership deems ‘ready’ The German Wehrmacht continues its massive expansion programs, despite the Treaty of Versailles. Though It is far from ready for any war, it shows promise. Interesting and new doctrine shows even more. The army also has new and interesting levels of mechanization, with new and advanced tank as well as armored personnel carriers debuting this year. Svenska Riket: The transition of power to the new fascist government in the previous years had been nearly bloodless. The people, ashamed of their countries performance in the previous war, and scorned by the treaty of Versailles, were in full support of the rhetoric spewed out by the new regime! Economic and military reforms had also seen the country nearly untouched by the Depression, making her the envy of her neighbors, and an ever tempting lure to other Scandinavians. Naval buildup and the modernization of Svierge-class battleships had also established the fledgling regime as a premier naval power in the Baltic, on par with or even exceeding the German Kriegsmarine. On the ground, the Swedish army had swelled far larger in size than any of her neighbors, though the military complex was in little position to support it. Hungary: The previous decades had not been kind to the Hungarians, a defeat in the Great War, and the dissolution of her Empire had left many scorn. Further more so as the Austrians continued to gobble up more and more of it in, first in Dalmatia and Bohemia, next in the establishment of a puppet regime in Slovakia. The Hungarians were sorely losing the race to re consolidate the Empire… Kingdom of Sicily: Fed up with the authoritarian nature of Mussolini’s rule, the Kingdom of Sicily finds herself in an interesting position. Her ground forces, though better trained and equipped at present will find themselves in trouble should a long protracted war set in, as the areas controlled currently lacks much of the capabilities to sustain the army. Sultanate of Egypt: The Sultanate currently sits in a period of prosperity, with the British firmly booted from the province, and control of the Suez established, the wealth of Egypt and commerce flows into the Sultan’s treasury. All of this and a population dedicated, even radical for their Sultan, a relatively modern and veteran army sculpts Egypt into a formidable enemy to anyone who might wish to oppose them. Empire of Japan: With the chaos in America, the Empire of the Rising Sun finds itself in a strong position. It’s greatest threat to East Asian supremacy in turmoil. The civil war in China presenting many opportunities for Imperial expansion. At present, the Empire is undisputed in its prevalence over the continent, how it will use this influence and power remains to be seen. The extreme independence and autonomy of the various branches of the Japanese Armed Forces is both a strength and a weakness. On one hand, it allows them to take the initiative and enact crucial reforms, on the other, the divisions also lead to inter branch rivalry and the hoarding of valuable war material from the other. Norway: After its victories in the Great War, and the acquisition of land lost to the Swedish ages ago, the country had entered a period of relative stagnation. The Great Depression had hit the country with a blunted blade, and thus the fallout was not nearly as devastating as it was elsewhere. However, the Norwegian armed forces were far from up to date, mostly stagnant from the Great War. Despite all this, the splendour of victory remained, and faith in the current regime and ruling party was better than ever! Austria: Unlike her Hungarian counterpart, the Austrians had been experiencing a series of successes in the previous years. First the industrial and mineral rich areas of Bohemia were captured, then the Dalmatian coast. In recent news, the establishment of a puppet-regime in Slovakia has pushed Austria one step closer to reuniting the Empire. Austria’s armed forces at present are fairly modern and fairly mechanized, despite their small size. They boast premier tank forces designed and maintained by Skoda works, based in Bohemia. However Austria’s small population heavily restricts the size of her armed forces, and could be seen as one of her biggest shortcomings. Zhili Clique Composed of some of the largest and best equipped sections of the former Beiyang army, the Zhili Clique holds its iron grip on Beijing and the surrounding areas. Support from western business and corporations also helps to pay the bills and arm the men. However this does not alleviate them from their current crisis. The staunch anti-communist, anti-Japanese power finds itself surrounded on most sides. The Fengtian army bearing down from the north, the People’s Liberation Army ever ready in the west, and the shadow of the Japanese looming over it all. United Syndicates of America Since the start of the Revolution nearly 3 years ago, the United Syndicates have been in an almost constant state of war. The deadly conflict against the Federal government had left thousands dead, cities scorched, and infrastructure in ruins. Apart from the east coast and New England, the heartlands of the new nation, much of the Rustbelt and great lake states were in ruins. Furthermore, loyalist guerrillas and insurgents still operated within these states, making the Syndicates hold on them shaky at best. On land, the Syndicate’s military is the largest in north america, however that does not speak much for its quality. The army is largely composed of poorly trained, conscript-esc troops equipped with outdated weaponry and led by questionably experienced officers. At sea, the nation’s navy is one of the biggest, after commandeering much of the Federal Atlantic squadron, though it suffers from the same problems as the army.

  15. The Second Interregnum 4E 837 During the Skyrim civil war, the Imperials had invested much into keeping the Nords under their control, yet a hardfought loss at Whiterun would put an end to their campaign. In turn resulting in the Treaty of Windhelm, effectively crippling the Empire. Soon after the Skyrim campaign, High Rock made bold demands of separation. A few tense encounters later, and said demands were accepted. The Aldmeri Dominion faced a similar issue as the Bosmer rebellion in 4E 309 happened and ended in success. The Khajiit also declared independence after witnessing that their overlords could be beaten and just as the Bosmer won, the Khajiit did too. Both of the rebellious puppet states caused the Altmer to once again take a stance of isolationism, where they now fight and squabble amongst each other for power in the Summerset Isles. In the south the Argonian Kingdom invaded Morrowind viciously taking land and slaves. They then turned their attention to the now weakened Cyrodiil who were still humiliated by their defeats. The Argonians launched attack after attack seizing land along the border. Seeing their time to shine, the Nords, Bosmer, Dunmer, and Khajiit launched simultaneous attacks. Cyrodiil desperate to not be demolished got their act together assembling a colossal army. The Imperial forces delivered decisive blows to each of their invading neighbors forcing one after another to sue for peace but to immediately end all fighting the territories taken were allowed to be kept by the invaders. After years of defeat and disgrace the Imperials tried again to conquer Skyrim and parts of Hammerfell with their colossal crusading force. The initial strike was devastating and all was looking good for the Imperials until the King of Skyrim himself led an ambush forcing an Imperial retreat. What then ensued was infighting, officers bickering over control and decision making, the campaign was halted. It did not take long before the colossal Imperial army dispersed. A long period of relative peace reigned over Tamriel lasting near five hundred years. During this time the Kingdom of Skyrim dissolved, the Argonians fractured, Hammerfell split apart and chunks were taken by the Imperials, the Orcs in Highrock fled to their mountains where they formed the Orcish Kingdom, and though the Empire was weakened it reorganized into the Imperial Confederation.
  16. Tamriel Imperialis V2 This is an Elder Scrolls FRP, my first one was a bit rough and a little shaky. Tensions for decades have been rising now. The “Band-Aids” congress put over the open wound of slavery were insufficient. With every new territory the debate was risen again. How long could it go on for? Almost a hundred years is the answer. Leading up to 1860 the south was in almost open revolt. At odds with each other, and the Union as a whole, there was major discontentment. Slave states saw their very way of life being infringed upon. Wealthy aristocrats strove to maintain power over the inferior white and black neighbors. Cotton was booming. The northern states for their part was not a unified utopia. Conflicting business, political, and foreign ideas were leading to clashes. Many simply could not agree. Immigrants flooded the north, forming their own communities and power blocs. Though heavily industrialized and populous, the North was led by cronies and congressional snakes. Policy was geared towards profit, and the Federals were on everyone’s front porch. It all came to a climax in the elections of ‘60. It was a four way run, with various parties involved. The Southern Democrat, Republican, Northern Democrat, and Constitutional Union parties all had candidates. It boiled down to two. Lincoln, and Breckenridge. In the end though it was clear Lincoln would win. This lead to nation breaking machinations… South Carolina was the first to secede Mississippi and the rest of the deep south soon followed. What began was a domino effect, The upper south came next. Virgina, North Carolina, Tennessee, one by one, secession after secession the ‘United’ States slowly collapsed. New York was the first of the Northern states to secede, Ohio came next. In the confusion a New English offer of annexation towards Canada was discovered. As 1860 became 1861 the Union had completely disintegrated in all but the once capital and small forts scattered across the once nation. The United States was no more The Fallout Following the collapse of the United States of America, a major power vacuum was left in its wake. The Federal Armies had evaporated, desertion and defection had set in. Only small bastions of the Federal government remained most notably in scattered forts, arsenals, and Washington D.C. itself. The government of the newly independent states resembled the former nation in one form or another. The vast majority simply kept to their governments, state governments now in power. State militias became the sole military units at the states disposal The tensions of the pre-collapse period remain ever prevalent. The abolitionist movement continues its growth in the free northern states. In the south, african-americans remain in shackles. The massive cotton industry is now fractured, as a trade war of massive proportions brews in the deep south. The North is no stranger to the tensions gripping the continent either. The offer of the upper New English states to join the British Empire has not gone forgotten. A massive conflict between the newly independent states of America is almost bound to occur in one form or another. OOC This FRP will begin in a historical manner with a start date of January 1st, 1861. The Governments, administrations, and leadership (both domestic and militarily) of the individual states will remain the same as they are in our timeline. As the game progresses, and history takes an alternate course, introduction of custom/special characters will be allowed. Alliances, Unions, and confederacies will be permitted within reason. Any U.S. State pictured on the map above is available Application Discord Name; Desired State; History of said State’s history, leadership, and government; Nominal Leader/President/Governor/etc.; Do you want a Custom Character? If so what’s their name and background? (Can only start in low level positions of power);
  18. 17 BBY Star Wars – Shadows of the Past ______________________________ All is quiet on the surface of Edichi. It has been less than a year since the ‘Pulse’ blew through the system, rendering all inside it isolated. The ensuing chaos fractured Imperial forces on the surface as regional commanders and leadership figures jockeyed for control over what remains of the Empire. Both free and occupied Edichi cities were not excluded from this power struggle. Attempts to reduce the scope of Imperial control were met with varying degrees of success, though no major cities were reclaimed, Imperial control of the surface was heavily reduced. The Edichi Government, still desperate to retain control over the world is in a state of confusion, incompetence, and chaos. Local political and military leaders eager to elevate their reputation in the public eye, seldom follow government directives. A relative rush to bolster the ranks of the military ensue, and hunts for any functioning equipment are underway. In the flurry of conflict and chaos of the proceeding years, where most eyes looked to the surface of the planet, the appearance of two rather large ‘stations’ of unknown origin has gone relatively unnoticed. Their purpose is a mystery as is where they came from. They hang barely in orbit of Edichi, no transmissions from either of the two ‘stations’ have been observed. No attempts have been made by the Edichi government to contact or investigate them. No more findings regarding the mysterious ‘Structure’ have been made since it’s alleged destruction last year. ----------- OOC Applications are still being accepted If an action is questionable, ask before doing This is free form, but don’t go over the top on actions or you will face consequences. Exercise common sense Please include an actions section to your posts where you can summarize the main points
  19. Star Wars Shadows of the Past ____________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On a secluded world in the outer rim, far from the bloody Clone Wars, a local mining operation uncovers what at first is an unknown ‘temple’. Later investigation would fail to decipher the structure’s origin and purpose. Widespread interest in this world would grow, also known as Edichi (Ed-ich-kai). in 20 BBY a Clone army arrives to further investigate the artifact and keep it out of CIS hands. Later in the year CIS forces would follow the clones and conflict across Edichi would erupt. In 19 BBY the Confederacy of Independent Systems systematically collapsed in on itself and the Republic had been reformed into the Galactic Empire. Yet the fighting on the surface had not concluded. CIS forces on the planet remained operational, refusing orders, and Clone units had mysteriously failed to receive new directives since shortly after their initial deployment. Edichi had not been short on new arrivals either, crime syndicates had heard whispers of this ‘artifact’ and slowly rooted themselves within cities and urban areas. Even a group of Mandalorians have arrived on the planet, though little is known of their true intentions. By 18 BBY, widespread conflict on the planet had died down. Scattered clone and CIS forces still dotted the planet, but the arrival of Imperial forces on the planet greatly tipped the balance of powers. Soon after the arrival of the Empire onto the surface of Edichi it seemed the systematic extermination of all opposition was inevitable. The enormous amounts of man and material gave Imperial forces an apparent advantage. However, an Imperial expedition to the original structure produced inexplicable consequences. Though specific details are unknown, it seems the expedition found something inside the structure which led to it being completely or partially destroyed under the mountain. In addition to the mysterious destruction of the site, what observers called a ‘pulse’ echoed through the star system. All outer system communication vanished and a multitude of ship based systems, including hyperdrives were rendered completely or partially useless.. All in the system are now alone _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Playable Factions All of the available factions have pros and cons as well as varying levels of equipment and supply. 20. Polis 389 CE (City of Polis 389 CE) (Political map of Aegos 389 CE) [Red = Vathacian States, Purple = Knyos, Orange = Myridios, Teal = Amidia, Green = ‘Barbarian' Kingdoms, Yellow = Nomadic peoples & tribes] The city of Polis, once the cultural, economic, and political center of the Vathacian League, later the Vathacian Empire. A city home to the greatest works of the civilized world. A city that once commanded armies across Aegos, and asserted its influence even farther now stands alone. It has been over 40 years since the last Hegemon was ousted by a coalition of Polisian factions and the Periochi were established by the signing of the Práxi Enótitas. After the reign of the Hegemons and the collapse of the Vathacian Empire, The power vacuum left in Polis led to a period of disaster. Foreign powers stripped Polis of control of most of its lands and territories. Hegemony over what remains of Vathacian territory is nothing more than symbolic. Many states flock to foreign powers, believing their fortunes will better there. In the wake of the collapse the Polisian factions waged war across the city, covering Polis in death, disease, and devastation. After over a year of conflict a victorious faction, Illerius, emerged and established the rank of Polemarch. The rise of the Polemarch ceased the city’s internal conflicts and secured peace with Polis’s various neighbors. Finally after almost a decade of instability, there was peace. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Available Factions Polis is divided into 10 Periochi, or districts. Every Periochi is governed by the Archon of one of Polis’s 10 factions. The Archons, though mostly independent, still bow to the Polemarch who maintains direct rule over key sections of Polis. Each Periochi has vague cultural traits that will serve as a guideline for you to expand upon. However it is to be noted that they all stem from original Polisian culture, a culture very heavily influenced by Vathacian Culture, which is based of that of Ancient Greece Rules [Any questions can be brought me or the discord] https://docs.google.com/document/d/1amSgKuKybeVyMtVBY4S9xewOSJl0BW_K5qk1hgwWwGE/edit?usp=sharing The Periochi (The 10 playable factions are shown and numbered above) (Above is a map displaying the different Periochi & their accompanying Sectors 1. Argos - The second largest economic sector of Polis and a long standing and respected faction. The majority of Argos’s citizens lie in the upper middle class. Population: 310,000 Improvements: 2x Development [Spread between Sector 4 & 5] 1x Market [Sector 4] 1x Lvl 3 Academy [Great Work | Sector 5] Resources: Scholars [Sector 5] 2. Decelea - The wealthiest Periochi in Polis. Originally head of the Vathacian fleets, this faction quickly secured control over Polis’s waterways and harbours. It is home to the largest marketplaces and wealthiest members of Polisian society. The people of Decelea practice a culture strongly influenced by trade and are widely regarded as the most alien of Polisian peoples. Population: 260,000 Improvements: 2x Development [Spread between Sectors 1 & 2] 2x Markets [Sector 1] 1x Lvl 1 Dockyard [Sector 1] Other: Great Library of Irae [Sector 1][Great Work][Under Polemarch Occupation] 3. Kleones - The most industrious of the inner Periochi. Kleonesians are an honest and hard working people. They take pride in the superb quality of their goods and the faction hosts the largest industrial base in Polis. Population: 290,000 Improvements: 1x Lvl 1 Military foundry [Sector 16 , inactive due to Polemarch occupation] 1x Lvl 1 Academy [Sector 18] 4x Development [2 in Sector 16 & 2 in Sector 17] 1x Lvl 1 Gunpowder foundry [Sector 18, inactive due to lack of resources] Resources: Scholars 4. Apamea - Apamea is the poorest of the inner Periochi, apart from the main streets, the district is largely a confusing maze of slums and apartments. Despite supporting the last Hegemon, they managed to remain in control of their section of Polis through their peoples almost fanatic loyalty to the state. They are an opportunistic people, and unlike their southern counterpart, they are seldom considered honest. Population: 320,000 Improvements: 2x Barracks [Sector 13, one is inactive due to Polemarch occupation] 1x Lvl 1 Military Foundry [Sector 15] 1x Development [Sector 14] Other: Polemarch Garrison [Sector 13] 5. Phocis - Phocis is the most populous of the inner Periochi. Their control of the river gates and largely trained citizenry allowed them to control large sections of Polis. The people of Phocis are stalwart advocates for democracy and independence Population: 350,000 Improvements 1x Lvl 2 Academy [Sector 9] 3x Development [1 in Sector 12, 1 in Sector 11 & 1 in Sector 10] Resources: Scholars Others: Polemarch tax collection center 6. Ephesus - The most militaristic of the Polisian factions & a favorite of the Polemarch. Ephesus was originally formed during the collapse of the Vathacian Empire and was made up mostly of Hegemonic loyalists as well as the largest portion of the remaining Vathacian military. Ephesus is home to the greatest military minds of Polis. Their culture revolves around the good of the Faction and much of the population lives in large communal blocks. Population: 130,000 Improvements: 2x Barracks [Sector 7] 1x Lvl 1 Gunpowder Foundry [Inactive due to lack of resources & Polemarch occupation 1x Lvl 1 Military Foundry [Sector 6] 3x Development [2 to Sector 7 & 1 to Sector 8] 7. Iolcus - The most populous district in Polis. Iolcus is a largely unorganized mass of buildings, plazas, and miscellaneous buildings. The district possesses massive amounts of resources in comparison to the inner Periochi. Iolcusian culture is similar to that of Kleones, however the more rural region hosts more traditional values. Population: 550,000 Improvements: 1x Mine [Iron, Sector 23] 1x Barracks [Sector 21, inactive due to Polemarch occupation] Resources (known): 2x Lumber [Sector 20] 1x Iron [Sector 23] 3x Farmlands [1 in Sector 20, 2 in Sector 23] Other: Polemarch Garrison [Sector 21] Polemarchy Tax collection center [Sector 21] 8. Sestos - Sestos is the largest agricultural Periochi. The finest crops of Polis hail from Sestosian fields and many of the inner districts rely heavily on the constant flow of food products from these regions. Up until recently, the people of Sestos have been largely neutral, during the Polisian civil wars Sestos remained the least affected of all Periochi. Population: 300,000 Improvements: 3x Farmlands [1 to Sector 25, 2 to Sector 27 Resources(known): 6x Farmlands [2 in Sector 25, 2 in Sector 27, 2 in Sector 28] 2x Lumber [Sector 27] Other: Polemarchy tax collection center [Sector 27] 9. Oreus - Oreus is the chief supplier of lumber and iron in Polis. Though not as resource rich as their Thespiaen counterparts. Massive destruction of Oreus during the Polisian civil wars forced the economically struggling district to accept mostly unfavorable trade deals with the Inner Periochi, particularly Decelea, in order to gain financial support. These trade agreements remain mostly intact, which has prompted widespread resentment from Oreusians. The culture of Oreus is similar in nature to their Sestosian neighbors, however it is significantly less pacifistic and more traditional in nature. Population: 440,000 Improvements: 1x Lvl 1 Mine [Sector 30, Iron] 1x Lvl 1 Lumber Yard [Sector 31] Resources(known): 3x Iron [Sector 30] 1x Lumber [Sector 31] Other: Polemarch Garrison [Sector 29] 10. Thespiae - The least populace of the outer Periochi, but largest in physical size. Thespiae boasts a massive amount of raw material. Of the outer Periochi, Thespiae is the most resentful to the other Archons. During the Polisian civil wars, Thespiaen controlled a large portion of what has become Argos. However they were eventually forced out from the city walls. In recent time Thespiae has become the main antagonizer towards the Inner Archons and the leader of the push to restrict the inner Periochi’s access to raw material. Population: 290,000 Improvements: 1x Lvl 1 Military Foundry [Sector 37] 1x Barracks [Sector 34 Inactive due to Polemarch occupation] 1x Stables [Sector 39] 1x Mine [Iron Sector 36] 1x Development [Sector 38] Resources: 1x Horses [Sector 39] 3x Iron [1 in Sector 36, 2 in Sector 37] 4x Farmlands [2 in Sector 39, 2 in Sector 35] 1x Lumber [1 in Sector 37] Other: 3x Polemarchy tax collection centers [2 in 39, 1 in 34] Polemarch garrison [Sector 34] Application 1. 21. Shadow of the Empire (applications on the 1st thread will still be accepted until 8/27/18) (may have to zoom in to see cities & capitals) Shadow of the Empire is an Alt-history scenario. In this particular scenario, Rome does not rise to dominance. It rises as a republic, presenting ideals and a foundation for a system of government for other nations, But it does not expand outwards, chosing instead to remain as a small city-state. In modern France, a northern tribe, subjugates most of the region before a kingdom is established. Power is cemented in the city of Paris before strings of conquests and campaigns conquer much of modern day Britain, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, North Africa, & Egypt. Any questions regarding this can be brought to me on discord @SUPREME leader#1328 The year is 700, Imperial might that once stretched from the corners of the known world begins to wane. Corruption and poverty runs rampant through Imperial cities that were once the pinnacle of civilization. Death is a commodity, sixteen years ago, the Great Dying killed thousands not only in Imperial lands, but across the Mediterranean world. Only now are population centers recovering. At the height of Imperial power, the British Isles were core Imperial holdings, but no longer. Barbarians and self proclaimed ‘Sea Kings’ alike devastate the province. In Ireland, only one bastion of the Empire remains. Costly wars in Italy and Egypt drained Imperial coffers and almost completely destroyed the once supreme Imperial army. The Empire is beset on all sides... the fringes of the imperial territory is in chaos. Iberian revolts cause devastation and death across the region.
