[Animal Lore] Ker Wolves

Crimson eyes watch from the darkest part of the forest. Shadows closing in around a single area where the soft whimpers of pups could be heard. A snarl signals a warning but still the shadows move. After a moment a dark head peeks out from under a tree stump. It was massive. Slowly the beast moves aside and the shadows stop. A single young girl steps out from the shadows. Her age no more than ten. Slowly she steps forth. Her ice blue eyes shimmering as she turns to look back. A set of red eyes at the same of hers, look back and an encouraging smile is seen. Slowly the young girl sits before the large wolf. It moves to her, sniffing her a few moments before lunging.

A gasp is heard as the beast holds her by the throat. The girl sitting there unwilling to move, unwilling to let the beast see her fear. Slowly the moon shimmers down shining onto the two. The creature, nothing more than a large black wolf. The girl, a small, blue eyes mali’ker. The wolf releases her, leaving faint marks on her dark skin before whining. A single pup bounds out and tumbles. Its black fur tinged in silver as it bounds to the girl and tackles her, licking her face. “Yay! Congratulations Kaila!” the other young girl squeals. “You got one! My turn papa!”

The older dark elf gives her a hard glare before nodding. “Yes Laila. Your turn. Do not disappoint me.” His voice cold and hard on the young girl. Kaila scrambled up and ran towards her father as Laila repeated what had been done, though showing excitement instead of concern. Bonds were created, bonds that last a lifetime.

Physical Appearance

The ker wolves are large seven foot tall wolves. Large beasts with massive bodies, these wolves are known for their dark pelts that seem to meld into the shadows. Their size varies between five feet to seven feet and their weight anywhere from 800 pounds to 1200 pounds, making them smaller than lur wolves and lighter. However, these wolves are around the same size as thoroughbreds and shire horses, making them perfect sized for a normal elf to ride.

Diet

The dark wolves diet consists of large game, humanoid creatures, and smaller creatures. Being completely carnivorous, ker wolves are meat eaters. Usually they will hunt large game going after deer and elk. Occasionally they go after smaller game but this does not calm their appetite over for much. They have been known to go into farms and kill livestock and horses.

Temperament

Ker wolves look and seem vicious and bloodthirsty. Their grown and bark shows them as highly aggressive and very intimidating. However, their true temperament is the complete opposite.Very calm and gentle, these wolves play the part of vicious attack dogs. Very few were willing to get near the wolves believing they would be killed, however, despite this all, they are docile. With temperaments similar to golden retrievers, these wolves are very loyal and very sweet. However, this also comes with domestication. Ker wolves will not be as peaceful to people unless raised around them.

Domestication

Ker wolves were first domesticated by the mali’ker of old, however, their ritual was lost and only a few dedicated families still carry it on. Ker wolves, especially *******, were more gentle towards children than adults. Noticing this, the first mali’ker sent in his youngest son, a child of eight. He watched from afar as the boy trembled near the large wolf, but his interest peaked when the wolf took the child into his den. After several hours, the child returned with a pup the size of a german shepard. The ritual of the Ker wolves was soon learned and only the mali’ker were given the information. However, as centuries passed, the ritual was lost, only to be known by the families of the wolf.

OOC Information

Like the Lur wolves of orcs, I wanted something unique for the dark elves. These wolves are made for intimidation only. Companion pets for roleplayers of the clans but only through the ritual. The “wolf clans” will teach only child mali’ker how to get the wolves as it is a process lost over the years (rply). No this will not be restricted to my friends only as I am willing to share the knowledge. The wolves will not and can not attack people to kill or severely injure. They will however bowl people over and act as a shield to their owner. Basically these dogs are giant lap dogs with a grumpy cat appearance. XP

The lore is good, but it isn't necessary with current day possibilities. But I do think its quite the topic to discuss during breakfast.

Intimidation. Laila's wolf never once attacked despite everything. And they are our "mount" instead of "horses" but sadly we cant skin horses to look wolfish wish we could

Me, thought I don't remember them being this big. Either way if they want to say their horses are infact giant wolves that don't attack humanoids instead, then they really are free to do that, since it does follow mech standard.

I could have sworn i said they were this big, but might have been my bad. They arent attack wolves in any way and are not to be RP'd as such. they are just large golden retrievers that you can snuggle up to and ride around on
