With 4.0 coming, new plugins are in the works. Nexus, being the name for the group of plugins, comes with many features. One being food being able to spoil. I for one think that puts too much stress and work to just being able to eat. I want to know what the server thinks. If you would like to elaborate on your opinion, feel free.

 

Pros:

  • Increase trade greatly
  • Gives farmers more value
  • With trade, creates rp and more nation trade relations
  • Bandits have reason to rob a farmer, possibly carrying loads of food.

Cons:

  • Makes starting out very hard
  • Gives too much attention to gathering food
  • Causes great confusion for new players.

Why does everyone, everyone have to do this? You get offered something realistic and you turn it down. :/

 

Maybe when we start playing it, when more than 25 people use it atm, then, maybe then we can start these.

I found that while playing it; I barely bothered with expiry dates and it seems that the higher tier foods have days length before spoiling. Not to mention that with 1.7.2 I would be eating food far quicker than they would spoil. 

 

In paper it might sound bad, but when you actually play it - you don't really notice the expiry dates.

I feel like I'll log on and all my food will be spoiled >.> At least Druids will get magicy bonemeal stuff.

It depends for me. Does food spoil whilst your offline, it only when you're online? If it's the latter, it's fine as is. If it's the former, then yes, the fastest expiring food should take a minimum of a few days.

Why is realism fun again

 

Personally it gives me a challenge in LotC. I enjoy difficult games, and these challenges would actually make me RP for food, maybe even beg at some points.

I'm not particularly for this. I'd rather not have to be foraging on a week by week basis. Just doesn't sound like it will bring about anything particularly fun.

The thing is, when we start playing we'll likely have a maxed out server for at least a few days and if everyone is dieing because of food shortage and quick expiration then it'll have a negative effect on everyone. Nobody wants to play on a server where you do constantly from starvation.

 

If we're going to go with this new route and have expiration on food I'd suggest holding off on using it for at least a week into 4.0 so everyone can get settled.

My question would be about how this would work with auto-shops. But I'm not asking that question. Just saying that I would because I can't write well.

I just want vanilla. I respect the work Telanir is putting in, but it isnt needed at all. The server has more appeal now then it did when we had plugins like this. I say none of this needs to be added at all, and yes, I am testing the plugin.
