    • Yes, BUT with a few days time, not hours. Lengthen spoil time greatly.

Don't let the naysayers get ya down, telanir :)  This is awesome.

I like food expiring.  I have never seen such a negative response to losing pixels.

Games with large inputs of easy money (aka zombie killing) need money sinks.

That is game mechanics 101.

I literally saw over 1000 bread for sale in Abresi the other day from Kralta.

So ridiculous.

In short, the economic system needs more sinks.  This is one of them.  I hope they add more.

Why is realism fun again

It's less realism and more you can't carry a warehouse around with you and instead you buy food where you go. Which means more RP.

I'm more concerned on the fact that you need 5 iron to make bread...

Food expire was an idea of mine before as well, so I like it, but ye, even raw meats need at least 24 hours, this is to stop those players from buying/getting 40 stacks and then storing it into a double chest, and never again having to worry about food, it shouldn't be about those that buy/get a stack every 5 days.

Actually 3-5 days should be the normallity I think.

It depends for me. Does food spoil whilst your offline, it only when you're online? If it's the latter, it's fine as is. If it's the former, then yes, the fastest expiring food should take a minimum of a few days.

This here.

It's just too mmo-y.

I don't want to go away for a while and find all of my food gone because this is suddenly farmville and I have to check in every day.

different decay times for different foods? i.e bread-> 1 day potatoes->3 days

Yes, but bread lasts way longer than a day lol.

Better that we don't bother with spoiling food. It feels like an overly laggy and highly inconvenient plugin to have. I'm sure it will do great for a food "economy," but economies are silly, so don't worry about it. I'm sure not everyone wants to RP being a farmer and actually have to farm at a consistent rate. The current rate of consumption is acceptable.

Everytime I see a 4.0 Nexus thread It usually always seems to be about the food plugin, now I don't think anyone truly has the right to complain until they try it, because when you do you'll realize that you rarely come in contact with the expiration date. The time I've played I've found out  something about the food plugin.

1. Any argument about bread is foolish, it just is. At the moment it has a 3 day long expiration date that's wicked long, it may not sound long but it's wicked long. And what is bread made out of? Wheat! And wheat has no expiration date, so what do you do? You put it into  a hay bale and make bread when there is demand, which brings us to supply and demand. Only make what you can sell or eat never more than that, or else you risk the spoilage.

Hopefully that makes sense and explains some of the problems that you may have with the plugin.

But in 4.0 we'll all be able to play with the great plug-in and hopefully any troubles you have with the plugin will be resolved by then, but until then enjoy Rp'ing!

I found that while playing it; I barely bothered with expiry dates and it seems that the higher tier foods have days length before spoiling. Not to mention that with 1.7.2 I would be eating food far quicker than they would spoil.

In paper it might sound bad, but when you actually play it - you don't really notice the expiry dates.

This. During my time in the nexus dev I haven't been very bothered by this food spoiling. I think though to counter this we could have more mobs spawn? I haven't seen a wild pig or even cow in ages.

Aye now here's a brainy one. ;)

You're the first to figure out my intention behind bread, put it in a damn hay bale and you'll be fine.

Yes, mob spawns will be more plentiful.

I think it adds a cool dynamic, one of the few thinks I like about it so far.

Lightbulb

Things like meat (After being cooked) having the shortest, maybe a week or 4-5 days. With things like bread having the longest, being around 2 weeks. Everything else being somewhere in between that balanced accordingly.
