  1. 1. Should food be able to spoil in the new map?

    • Yes, BUT with a few days time, not hours. Lengthen spoil time greatly.

I rather like immersiveness. Besides, who will be carrying more food than you can eat for a week? I personally don't carry around dozens of 64-stacks of bread, not when I can easily farm it sometime later.

I find it interesting and would very much like to give it a try.

Food is not updated when not touched.

But the thing is, the food /does/ store the time when it was first concieved/baked/cooked. It will check its creation time when you use it or interact with it, and displays the time after which it will expire, so going offline will naturally not affect the expiration process in any way. Cake though, you should look into. It doesn't have an expiry date. ;)

Thanks for clarifing, I think that was the main concern. Also this looks amazing! I think food needs more value and the everything I've seen of Nexus so far has looked great. Don't get discouraged, I think all of this will be great for 4.0.

Food degrades over a long time.....

No. No. No.

I'd rather be RP'ing then scavenging for food with half a heart, which is what this will lead to for a lot of players, especially new players.

Even as someone who starved to death many a times, I really like this idea. It gives a reason for there to be bakers, especially if their food lasts longer than some nobody's bread. As for newbies, this gives them a reason to rp right away. They need to trade for more bread, they could trade work for food if they dont have the money. I spent my first day of playing wandering around trying to find a place to settle down rather than rping

There's ways around it other than just out right dismissing it! What if when you died, you were given efficient provisions automatically or we make a scavenging ability that allowed you to look for food in tall grass, just change the food to expire in much longer or have a food type that doesn't expire at all? (Which I think telanir might of been adding already)

Realism to this extend isn't fun. It'll hurt off-peak players a lot, as well as those who play LotC casually. This has been proposed before, and the same points always come up. I'd be shocked if this were to ever happen.

As a possible fix to the alienating new player thing.

What if we gave new players a lot more monk-bread then they get now. And have it so Monk-Bread takes forever to go off(or not at all)

I honestly like the concept, I don't see the dooms day scenario coming to pass. I don't think people will be scavenging more then now, need food, help your local grocers by buying bread.  Don't have mina for food, how have you survived for this long?

Most have a few day spoil times. It also adds a bit more of a constant need for farmers.

also can't you just discuss it with telanir directly

I used to play a farmer. It quickly lost any purpose, as it's ridiculously easy to accumulate a huge pile of food. And when most people just harvest food for themselves, the job quickly became pointless. This is the most interesting change to MC farming in a long time. Let's at least try it before saying no, guys. You don't see many food stalls around because there's basically no demand at all. But if you have seen them, it's pretty easy to notice that food is extremely cheap. Add demand, and more stalls will pop up. I don't see a problem. If voting rewards is working, that alone is more than enough to cover the cost of food.

I really like this idea (( i remember a few months back sky posted this as an idea to be added and whoo it now is :) )) Now if any one has played a farmer after maybe four days with a good size farm you have food for maybe a month of so easy thats the point of food than? At Least with this it will give farmers a purpose and put more value on food. Now i'm not sure if this is already in the or not but while in chest i think food should last a long longer but while in your inv i think the time is fine after all 2 IRL days is a month IC so food going bad after 1 day aka 2 weeks is still farly good.

I don't understand how this is an idea, this is feedback. :I

Moved accordingly.
