It's A Business.

There will always be some sorta corruption. Why not do a month update that shows all income and expenses so players can see their money isn't squandered.

I agree firmly with your sentiment, but I do believe it is possible to have the leader you desire without instigating a profit motive.

Well there was Mogroka, but we screwed up that opportunity.

The server is doing fine in-terms of funds and we we're working hard to ensure that 4.0 is something we can be glad to promote, you'll see a handful of videos and livestreams over the next two months or so that should hopefully show you that we are passionate, willing and thoughtful.

Rittsy has been reminding the techies frequently to work on new donation perks to coincide with the 4.0 world and the plugins that go along with it.

I'll do my very best to be in the limelight as often as I can and I'll definitely have some 4.0 livestream's over the next week or two - I really want to be the the guy each and everyone looks to, It's just difficult when you've got basically two games to juggle.

Either way, challenge accepted ! :accepted:

*Slowly claps*

I'm glad someone noticed.

Also Native, the main idea of of running lotc like a business is to hire people who are more capable then those who we'll get for free. This in itself will raise the level of quality.

While that certainly is a possibility, I don't think that was the nature of Goldrim's post.

LoTC should be considered and treated as a business, we're just working on a product we can stand behind before promoting it!

I don't think the pretty good staff back in Aegis was hired and Vaquxine-Availer conflict was over Availer using money for medical school if I remember correctly and possibly more than that.

There is a difference between running this like a corporation with a profit motive and a small business one can be proud of. I am sure some of you folks have a "hipster part of town" with coffee-shops, bookstores, and the like. Run it like one of those, a quaint, neat place to operate lol.

The server as it was in Aegis (which has widely been argued as the peak of the servers fun) was run in a similar way.  The issue at hand was a sole owner and it led to corruption between Availer and Vaq but I remember coming to this server because it was the best thing that everyone was talking about.  Nevertheless you shouldn't discourage somebody's embelished idea and call it bad without any basis in fact other than that "it's awful".  At least give some substance. ^.^

I'll equate it to for profit and non-profit charities.

Who do you want to donate to, the for-profit charity or the non-profit charity?

This is a bad problem.

Ethically, in my opinion, it's just bullshit. You're encouraging a completely different sense of principles if you are for-profit. Even if you are a quant, hipster bookstore like Gaius is so familiar with, the chance for corruption or just putting money before the fun of players is something I think really bad for the server.

On the topic of Aegis, ask any player you see. Ask what their favourite time was? What was their favourite map? From my experience, a lot will say the map that we were on when they joined. It's nostalgia, I get it.

It's not about being successful in terms of numbers, it's about having a good time.

The leader, if I know my stuff... I mean come on I am a Global Moderator, is currently Native.

Though, Viper is head admin, which I guess means he also has a say in it? I am not 100% sure.

I can get behind this, and personally would love to see this happen.
