It's A Business.

Hello there friends, I’d like to state beforehand that I hold no ill minded thoughts against the current staff team, so please don’t take anything personally.

I have to touch up on a quite controversial subject because I sincerely feel that change has to be made as soon as possible, in order for the server to function properly the staff needs to set goals, we have to run this server for profit instead for the community, this might sound crazy to you but a motivated and capable leader is all it takes for LoTC to become a better version of what it currently is, if people begin to view the server as a business there will be a lot more input, it will be a lot more strict in the areas where proper authority should be enforced, and people will be motivated to make the server into the best thing that it can become.

Now I'm not saying the server is bad by any means, I'm enjoying myself but there is so much more it can achieve, and with people who are like-minded and driven to work towards a certain goal together, something great will come out of it.

How can this be solved, as stated above we need a proper head figure that is present and has an impact on the server, who has people under him that do their task as they are told to do, and if they don’t they’ll simply be replaced by someone who is more suited for the job.

We have to get our name out there, proper advertisement is key to what makes a Minecraft server so successful, or any other business for that matter, being a roleplaying server is already hard as is, but with people that know what they’re doing we can make Lord of the Craft what it’s supposed to be, a great server with Minecraft as a platform, where people are excited to log on to with unique players joining day in, day out.

Thank you.

I agree with this 100% I think that the server would get way farther than where

it is now!

Availer ran it that way and thats how we started up so quickly. Going to minecons and having professional videos made.

I can't tell if this is a joke or not.

This would be an awful idea.

It's not about being successful. It's about being fun. And I think we do fine currently without being about money and stupid things like that.

For profit could just lead to some shitty places.

Exactly. Hence my -1. This idea monetizes a community. We become a means to make money. It would lead to the downfall of LOTC.

I agree that I should in theory, be much more upfront and/or portray myself as a leader better - it is difficult for me to promote 3.0 as strongly as I'd like because I wasn't present for it mostly and I have been trying to re-think the whole thing for this map swap.

This new world and it's mechanics will be something I'll be able to get my head around and be proud of again, so that will really help me feel motivated to promote and talk about the server on youtube videos and in live-streams.

There's a ton to prepare for and I'm excited to be just maintaining a game again instead of maintaining one and making one.

In any-case, this post has made me want to be more visible, receptive and weary about how distant I can be - so thank ya Goldrim.

I look forward to showing everyone I've been doing much more than making a map, over these next few months.

Be in game! Roleplay with regular players :P

I do agree in the face we should be a bit more active in promoting our server. Videos are cool, and have always wanted to make one. The main reason I joined LotC was because I saw Candle's lets play. Lots o' fun watching it. (I'd voulenteer to make a let's play of LotC but I don't think I have all the material needed, and I have limited data .-. So boo).

yes please

vaq and availer focused on this aspect. vaq and availer started dungeon realms about a year ago. dungeon realms currently has an average of 1000+ players on at once and intakes thousands of dollars in revenue.

this is exactly what we need

The server as it was in Aegis (which has widely been argued as the peak of the servers fun) was run in a similar way.  The issue at hand was a sole owner and it led to corruption between Availer and Vaq but I remember coming to this server because it was the best thing that everyone was talking about.  Nevertheless you shouldn't discourage somebody's embelished idea and call it bad without any basis in fact other than that "it's awful".  At least give some substance. ^.^
