Before we start...

REMEMBER, FOLKS, IF YOU ONLY VOTE, NOTHING CAN BE FIXED IN CASE OF A NEXT TIME! POST, I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE IT!!!

Just needed to get your guys' attention there, cause I am certain that at least 10% of the voters won't post their suggestions. Even just quote the guy you agree with. Just try to post and quickly explain.

Now that that is over with...

Hello all.

You may know me. You may not. I don't much care. But EVERYONE knows the plague barring the guy under the rock and that's what we should talk about.

We've all heard the guy screaming LOLNOPE at their screen. We also get the guys and gals who are just like, 'Awww <3'!

But no one's really tried to get an objective or even subjective view on WHY or how many people like or dislike the plague. Why it works, why it doesn't.

So that's what we're gonna do today, folks.

Personally, I don't much like the plague. It has essentially killed off all the RP in the elven districts, particularly in Lin'ame and Ker'lomi. Is the situation the same elsewhere? Maybe. Maybe not. Another time? Again, maybe, maybe not. This is my own view, and it goes to stand I am completely wrong or completely right.

Furthermore, in some places amongst the more light-hearted if rage inducing players (whom many call trolls), people would just be punched OOCly, and due to it being a mechanics plague with what appears to be an 100% infection rate, people were being infected left and right, often in powergamey form, leaving no time for response, no time to get away. Due to this, an (if large) minority of our playerbase decided simply not to get on the server to RP, in order to avoid having an unwanted mechanic shoved down their throats, and stopped various RPers from getting out of the RP house or city to travel.

Lastly, the filtered masks apparently only served to lower said infection rate to about 50%, making them nearly useless, as (as any person who has before engaged in mechanics combat might know) a player can punch multiple times within a few seconds, thus meaning if so much as two hits were to land, one would essentially almost certainly be infected. A third and you could count yourself extremely lucky.

However, some things about the plague I did like (as I am not necessarily trying to persuade anyone the plague was a bad thing, I'm going to tick off teachers everywhere) were that it offered a new kind of RP few ever roleplayed: pestilence and illness, and that it also ground the war that has been tearing apart the server for weeks to a swift and sudden stop.

What are your thoughts? Vote and post, if you will. Or just vote, because we're human beings and we're all uber lazy, but I do encourage you to post for the livelihood of the server.

Thanks! Sancus out!

I put a good deal of RP into healing my Orc, turns out he got cured by several Halflings he was planning to kidnap and feed to a Scaddernack! Before that he tried killing a medic in Alras who he thought had the cure... And before that he caught it by being around nasty Flays. Personally, I thought the plague was pretty fun. I guess it depended on what you decided to make of it. I wouldn't want something like it to happen again soon, but it was fun.

I would like to note that the plague was also called the "Butt Chivays"

Well, I personally enjoyed the Plague. It made my character barf and bleed everywhere, which made conflict for a /lot/ of people.

But, I know a bunch of others hated/passionately disliked it (with good reasons and points). The Plague, referring to the spine pain symptom/poison effect, did decrease hearts by a long way. Although I never died, some did, and they got upset. I was going to write more, but I can't really think of anything else. :C

I found that the plague allowed me to explore sides of my character that otherwise I would not have been able to. Sorensil tends to stick to the rules, but with the advent of Buttchivays, I was able to explore a slightly more paranoid, wild side of my Elf. Plague +1

At least do away with the Nausea effect, me and a few others have extreme motion sensitivity. Made me puke once (irl) and extremely disoriented the last time.

i mined 27 stacks of gravel in the alras storage for flint during the plague, so all i know is what i heard in ts from alras gov and the dorfs, seemed to have a good effect tho, i never really was effected by the more trolly part so can't say i hated it,.

The Plague gave me and hopefully the other Alchemists a great chance to roleplay and to fully delve into a side of the art that's usually left alone, which is 'myths'. The 'cure' that was made, as many know, is a Panacea, or a cure all, which is a highly balanced, highly water-centered potion capable of healing (if correctly made) any illness or any wound. Of course, we couldn't simply make one completely balanced that would heal everything because we needed the cure to be somewhat easily made, so we opted for a weaker potion concentrating on the plague only, which is why infected blood and other infected substances were needed for the brewing.
Anyway, that's the end of today's alchemy lesson!
+1 for the plague for the fun Alchemist roleplay.

I enjoyed the beginning part of it, but after awhile it seemed to get really annoying, especially with the fact later on in the game being cured by healers became somewhat tedious. It presented excellent roleplay but I feel like the way it was delivered and handled was sort of meh as time went on. Would do it again in the distant future though.

I really enjoyed it, sure there were a few rotten apples in the bunch who used the plague to troll. Other then that I found it to be an interesting shift in role play. The war itself was sort of put on hold as well which was quite dynamic and interesting! Do remove the nausea effect though (Or make it only last for short periods of time). People (Filithy pleb Ark) do actually get sick from it and it does strain the eyes after a time.

Two reasons why I hated the plague.

1.) I don't like how the plague was MCly forced on people. The mechanics behind it were annoying at best.

2.) Most people who were infected was denied RP for something they had no control over unless they find a cleric, ascended, or someone who could heal them, which is already tedious, and instead found players that just want to PVP them.

Asulon's plague actually did it right. Why? Because one, you had a choice to infect your character. And the players who chose to get their characters infected, actually provided enjoyable RP for other players, even if it did ultimately lock them out of cities. Actually in fact, if you did not get into a city in time, you were locked out, denied RP. And in Asulon, if you're denied RP in a capital, you're **** outta luck.

The only issue with Asulon's plague is that it stagnated and it became less fun the longer it lasted. Now the plague only lasted so short a time, people are now just started going back to their normal lives.

Too few infected, Cure came too fast cause it only took a day or two, too little mayhem, infected should have had less chance to be detected, infected should have been given more role-play options other than just being weak and dying cause it should have been more of a doomsday scenario..this was nothing of what a plague would be.

Despite dying 20 times it was fun. Had some fun role-play with Hex that helped make it worth it. I got the disease after purging it rply from three victims, I adored it despite the constant deaths. :P
